Yelp
It's a pizza party for one over here baby!
Do you all remember when we could turn in those little coupons for free personal pan pizzas for good report cards and reading challenges as kids? I miss that. Using my own money really isn't right after years of privilege. Sigh, the good ol' days.
But at least these days, I can choose where to have my pizza, enjoy all the toppings I want. and even pair it with a beer - heavenly. So when I'm craving pizza, I try to make it an occasion. So when it was a day for pizza, I packed up my handy iPad and airpod combo (essential to solo dining and easily swapped for books and notebooks on some days) and headed over to Buckhead Pizza. I was in the area earlier in the afternoon and hopped over to Yelp for a recommendation. I initially planned on going to another pizza spot but couldn't find parking and landed on Buckhead Pizza, so off I went!
Buckhead Pizza is situated in a small plaza in a calm neighborhood surrounded by hotels and apartments. Not a bad place to be for lunch! There were only about 4-5 parking spaces outside of the restaurant and the only two open at the time were reserved for pick-ups. But luckily, there's a nicely-sized parking garage that was easily accessible. It was incredibly easy to find garage parking on this weekday afternoon and I was super happy to see that when I went to pay for parking, it was free. We love to see it! (When I walked down to the restaurant, all of the spots had opened up, I almost hollered LOL)
Upon entry to the restaurant, it pretty empty besides two employees sitting at a back table talking. I was promptly greeted by the female employee who I learned would be my Server/Bartender for the afternoon. She was super sweet and great the entire time! My next impression of the restaurant? It was hot as HELLLLL. And I'm from Florida, I know heat. Turns out that their AC was broken and by the time I realized it, I was already settled in my seat, iPad out and Housewives on and I was just not moving. But, sheesh! But I only had to sit there for lunch, I was hoping that the employees were somehow keeping cool! I wish I had a lil church fan with me or something. Because of the heat, they kept the doors opened which provided a nice breeze but also welcomed in flies that hovered over my pizza and put me into fight mode. Like, I just came here to chill, why ya'll harassing me?! And now I have to mention them in my Yelp review, smh bad for the mosquito brand, lol.
My beer was served in an ice cold glass each time which was so refreshing. Both my Caesar salad and pizza came out quickly, but both seemingly prepared fresh. I mean, there was nothing too innovative about the salad but we all know how a Caesar goes. It was a refreshing start to my meal, but I couldn't really tell if the dressing was homemade but it worked! I went with a veggie pizza + pepperoni (pls leave your judgement at the door) and and prepared to have my pizza cravings fulfilled. I absolutely love pizza and don't have a type. Give me thin crust, stuffed crust, pan or deep dish - I will eat it! This pie was okay, not my fave in town so far but it worked. I would have loved if the bottom was a bit thicker and more well-done and if they would have let it sit in the oven a bit longer, as my veggies could have used a little more time. But guess who ate that whole pizza? Tuh, lol.
All in all, a good experience and worthy of another visit someday soon! I truly wish I could give it a 3.5-star. Truly appreciative to the three-person (that I could see) team that worked through the discomfort of a broken AC on a hot Atlanta afternoon to be so helpful and prompt with those of us who dined in. I'll definitely give them another try once the AC is fixed!
