​In Sri Lanka, there are surely many hotels, each one more different than the last, but there is definitely no other quite like the Hotel Buckingham Place. It’s not just about its privileged location; it's about the magic that surrounds it, the nature, the wonderful rooms, the unbeatable cuisine, and above all, the marvellous staff who work there. ​When you put it all together, you create the best experience, especially when you've been travelling through the spectacular paradise of Sri Lanka for three weeks and decide to finish on a high note. Words can't express our gratitude for the 24/7 care and affection we felt. Everything is looked after down to the smallest detail, and that's thanks to the great Nick, the hotel's owner. ​While all the hotel staff are wonderful—from the dining room and massage area to the housekeeping and bar staff—I would like to highlight the impeccable and kind attention of Sheham, who did everything and more to make our stay perfect. When I return to Sri Lanka in the future, I know that a visit to this wonderful hotel will be an absolute must. ​Thank you and see you soon.

This is a fantastic boutique hotel with the most amazing staff and service. The rooms are massive and well-appointed, and the food is consistently excellent. The views of the sea and the lagoon are spectacular, and a great beach is on the doorstep. Very highly recommended.

We had a truly wonderful experience at Buckingham Place in Tangalle. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect , the beautiful lagoon kayaking & bird watching, the secluded beach, the inviting pool, and the peaceful surroundings made it a relaxing and unforgettable escape. 🌊💆🏻‍♀️❤️ The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a warm smile. A special mention goes to Arshad, one of the best people at the hotel ,always helpful, professional, and genuinely kind. Piyumi was also so lovely and supportive; she ensured we had everything we needed without delay. 🫂❤️ Our room was spacious, very clean, and beautifully maintained, with a calm and cozy atmosphere. The morning and evening views from the room were absolutely stunning ,just wow! 😍🫶🏻 The food was absolutely delicious, every single meal was a treat. 😋 If you're looking for a place to relax, unwind, and be treated like family, we highly recommend Buckingham Place. We loved every moment and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! ❤️

Many places call themselves boutique hotels but Buckingham Place is truely the definition of what that really is. Fabulous suites, delicious meals, knowledgeable and attentive staff in a glorious location with excellent facilities make this place our favourite resort in Sri Lanka. All this is overseen by the hospitable owner, Nick Buckingham, who has lovingly developed the resort over many years, providing valuable employment for the locals and has built up a well trained crew. Nothing was too difficult and any need was happily accommodated. We will be back for our 4th visit either later this year or early next year

This hotel is an absolute gem! Before we arrived I'd read the reviews and questioned whether the hotel could live up to all the accolades. But be assured it does - the food is absolutely incredible. The service is literally the best I've seen in any hotel, anywhere. Warm, helpful, without being too intense. When my son was ill they made him food he was happy to eat, and took away any stress from the situation. The pool area is a wow. The beach is beautiful - as everyone says, you cannot swim in the sea by the hotel, but a walk along to the rock pool for a dip first thing is a memorable activity. This was a perfect ending to a wonderful Sri Lankan stay. Couldn't recommend more! Well done Nick and team!

We promised Mr Nick, (Nick Buckingham, owner and operator) that we would write a review following our stay, during which we celebrated Belinda's "significant" birthday. |I thought it might be helpful to seek inspiration from what other guests are saying. Honestly, it is if they are in a competition to outdo each other in their praises of Mr Nick's hospitality - the rooms, the views, the food, the staff, the beach, the location, the wildlife - all receive rave reviews. And we wholeheartedly agree!|Bizarrely, I did find a couple of reviews which weren't ecstatic and all I can say is, they must have been staying at a different hotel.|Mr Nick, your attention to detail is magnificent, from the "Happy Birthday" message written with flower petals in our room, the Birthday Cake and Happy Birthday banner on our last night, or the fresh coffee delivered to our verandah every morning as we watched the sun come up - awesome, all of it.|Thankyou, Nick, we had a wonderful time at your hotel and enjoyed your company immensely.

We have just had the most fantastic 3 nights here and highly recommend. The service is exemplary, the food outstanding and the location glorious. It’s bold and joyous and full of life, but super relaxed at the same time, and you just can’t help but feel happy here - a brilliant exercise in the psychology of colour. There are only 16 rooms so the service is really personal (they seem to know what you need before you have even thought of it!) and there are so many thoughtful details. The hotel is just down a few steps to Rekawa beach which is vast and unsullied by tourism. The few hotels and a couple of beach bars are tucked behind bushes and virtually invisible from the beach. The waves are really powerful - too powerful to swim but the sound of them crashing onto the beach carries up to the pool - deeply relaxing and great for the soul. Rekawa is a turtle beach so there is the added bonus of late night walks to watch the turtles laying their eggs. This is a really special place created by a lovely man called Nick Buckingham (hence the hotel name) who is full of wonderful stories. We very much hope to return.

Due to a booking issue with our original hotel, we unexpectedly found ourselves at Buckingham Place — and what a stroke of luck it turned out to be! Honestly, we now wish everyone would have a “booking issue” like ours. 😉||From the moment we arrived until the second we left, everything was just right. And if something wasn’t, the team made it right immediately. The attention to detail here is outstanding — we won’t spoil the surprises, but trust us, they’ve thought of everything.||It’s hard to explain exactly what makes this place so special. It’s not just the comfort, design, or food — though all are excellent. It’s the atmosphere, the calm, the care. You’ll see it echoed in every other review.||Above all, it’s the people who make Buckingham Place truly exceptional. The staff are warm, thoughtful, and genuinely committed to making your stay perfect. And Nick, the owner, leads by example — always present, always welcoming.||This wasn’t just a hotel stay; it was an experience. We’ll definitely be back.
