Back in 2014, I really loved going to Buck's. Sure it was fairly rich, greasy, and not the fastest, but the food was great and the menu options plentiful, creative, and exciting.
Upon moving back to Rawlins a few years ago, I was taken aback by how much it has changed for the worst. The menu options are all it has going for it.
I'll start with the lunch we had. It took over 15 minutes before we were even asked for our order, and another 45 before we had it. The place wasn't that busy, either. Many options they were out of. The bread on my sandwich came out dark. One of the appetizers, they completely forgot about.
Okay, so one fairly subpar experience; nothing horrible. We decided to give it another try... never again after that.
My parents, wife and I were all exhausted from moving and driving all day, and just wanted to end our day with a nice meal. It was 7 but we'd all had a long and tiring day. The greeter stated there was a 30 minute wait. Not ideal, but okay.
30 minutes came and went. And one by one, the others waiting had left rather than being seated (very few were actually seated). Finally, we had waited nearly an hour. The greeter was nowhere to be seen for the past 15 minutes. In fact, no wait staff were anywhere to be seen. Those seated at the restaurant were abandoned.
I had the foresight to grab a menu, so that we'd all be ready to order as soon as we were seated. But again, no one was anywhere to be seen. Uncleared, empty tables were plentiful, and yet we were "waiting to get a seat". I was and still am in disbelief. I figured, even if we did get a seat, we were bound to be completely ignored and wait far longer yet.
The bar was where it was at. Patrons looking just to dine and go about their lives were held in apparently very low regard. It seem those at the bar, watching the big game were all that mattered. Not everyone cares about sports.
Rawlins basically closed by 8, when we finally left. There was nowhere left to go. We had an okay dinner at Pizza Hut but were hoping to go somewhere more fun.
I tried calling, and was told the manager would get with us. Never did. Tried writing to them, yet nothing. Talking amongst coworkers, it sounds as though little has changed.
