Buda Castle is one of the most captivating places I’ve ever visited. Standing proudly on the hills of Buda, it offers breathtaking views of the Danube and the entire city of Budapest. The architecture is grand yet peaceful, and walking through its open courtyards and along the castle walls feels like stepping back in time.
To reach the castle, I took the Budavári Sikló, the historical funicular elevator that connects the riverbank to the top of the hill. It’s a short ride, but full of charm. The wooden cabins and the slow climb make it a unique and memorable experience, especially for first-time visitors.
Once you arrive at the top, you’re greeted not only by the beauty of the castle itself but also by the stunning views of Pest on the other side. Whether you visit during the day or in the evening when the lights glow over the city, it’s an unforgettable scene.
I would highly recommend Buda Castle and the funicular to anyone visiting Budapest. It’s a perfect mix of history, beauty, and magic.
