The Best Christmas Light Displays in Every State

"The Austin Trail of Lights is more carnival than Christmas light display. At this drive-through event, you'll be able to see more than two million lights and 70 displays in Zilker Park. There are also three stages for live music, tons of food trucks, and special events like the first tree lighting and the Fun Run, a 2.1-mile race for all ages." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Google
Super cute, well designed and lovely folks all over the place. Google does have it listed as 24hours. It is not. But if you go to the Buda Trail of Lights website it has information on when to go, and where you can get a shuttle. The city staff and volunteers were extremely helpful and nice. The walk is not too long (for those with littles) but it's long enough to be worth going. There are venders with Coffee, kettle corn, ice cream (who eats ice cream in winter?!?) and a few others. Honestly glad we got our 3 year old out into the cold for it. He had a blast.

Google
This is a great family experience. It feels like small town festivities. The trail is about 2/3 mile long. There's benches along the way. Lots to do for the kiddos. Doesn't open until dark. My advice is to get there as soon as it opens as it will get crowded.

Google
What wonderful Christmas light display so much Christmas sprit. There was even a Santa available. It’s so great Buda business sponsors something like this for the community which cost nothing.

Google
The PDF directions provided for prepaid valet parking are terrible and illegible; the photo has so few pixels the words can't be read. And the people with the light sticks, terrible direction; They sent us back to the beginning of the vehicle line. Dont bother coming to this or spending extra. What a waste of time and money

Had so much fun. Great for families. Would do again 🫶🏽

Google
Free parking and free entry. Fun for the little ones, and relaxing for adults as it’s not over crowded. They have drinks and snacks available for purchase and I believe a Santa for the kids. We’ve gone every Christmas season for several years.

Fun and reasonably priced

Google
Says open 24 hours. Drove 30 minutes and it was closed. Maybe December 1st is too early. Would be great if google said something one way or the other.

Yelp
A nice little park to enjoy in downtown Buda. It is nestled behind the library/police station aways from the road so you can enjoy the calm of nature. There is basically one moderate-length loop with a few branching paths to shorten or make it longer; I'd guess only about a mile. My husband and I have gone there to run a couple times. The paths are a fine gravel/dirt. There's a shallow pond in the center, not for swimming or fishing, just a water feature, along with a windmill. Sometimes the train rattles by and that's fun to hear. There's a play structure for kids as well, though it is mostly monkey bars plus a slide. Bathrooms with running water nearby. Pretty good sized parking lot, well-maintained asphalt. This park gets transformed during the Christmas season into a walkthrough where many small/local businesses get a small plot to decorate and advertise, and they typically have a few concessions like hot cocoa or kettle corn, and a Santa Claus for kids to visit. That sort of thing.

Yelp
A decent little park for hiking. Stopped here with my pups in mid November while they were setting up the Christmas light trail. This meant only the parking lot before the gate is available. Nice dirt trails and there is a clear pond in the middle. There is some kind of visitors/activity center at the entrance. There is also some kind of bar with a few food trucks right next door to the entrance! Woohoo!

Yelp
Great park in Buda with lots of history. Lovely wintertime trail of lights, too. Across the way, at Bradfield Park, they have a nice sized pond with some good fishin'. All you need in quant little ole Buda!

Yelp
Plenty of parking with a decent hike & bike trail. The trail isn't very long, maybe a mile, mile and a half? Probably a better hiking trail then biking; the gravel is pretty sandy in some places and makes for a tougher biking experience, but still good! I love the opening with the windmill and pond, there used to be a water feature that has since been drained, not sure why, but that was a nice touch too. There are benches along the trail and around the windmill to sit and enjoy the quietness.

Yelp
Enjoyed my first visit to Stage Coach Park! It's a hidden gem, with plenty of parking, green space, and a few areas to picnic/stay for awhile. Several families were out walking pets, taking photos while celebrating birthdays/special occasions, and the entire area was clean and kept up well. Thankfully, it wasn't too crowded on a Sunday afternoon at 70 degrees. Since we've been looking for opportunities to socially distance and get some exercise during Covid, this was a great way to enjoy a few new paths. Would definitely like to visit again next time I'm in the area and have a few hours to spend.

Yelp
Trail of Lights! Love coming to Buda for their laid back version of a winter wonderland. Easy park and ride from Cabela's to Stagecoach Park. Thanks, to HCISD for providing the buses and drivers. Awesome, less than a mile stroll along level trails past dozens of Christmas displays sponsored by local businesses, charities, and youth organizations. Hot chocolate. S'mores. Santa. Budaful!

Yelp
We've been coming here for years. We'll maintained trails and facilities. Dogs on a leash. Trail of lights during the holidays.

Yelp
Love the trails, love the pond, love that there are bathrooms along the trails. Love the fact that the trails are never crowded. Love the scenery and historic buildings. I wish the playground had more for kids (swings). I also wish there was more shade on the trails. It's a great October-April park but looks like it would be quite hot over the summer months.

Yelp
This park is nice and clean and offers a decent amount of trails to walk on (I think the mile markers go just above 1 mile). My husband hates walking and being outside but actually enjoyed this park, stating several times that it was "nicer and less crowded than any park I've ever been to in Austin". Lol love this place and will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This is an amazing place to get some exercise. The park is so peaceful and has bathrooms throughout the trails. Very peaceful place! Will be back every time I am staying nearby.
