A seriously underrated museum!
I think they have to market it better because there is so much to see around the Buda castle that people don't know where to start and where to enter.
We paid around 5 euros (student/youth ticket) and got to see 3 floors of amazing exhibitions. We spent almost 3 hours there, but we would spend even more if we read every item description!
The ground floor has a big art exhibition ("An Italian in Hungary") and a beautiful courtyard with a glass ceiling.
The first floor has the famous restaurated St. Stephens Hall and an enourmos exhibition about the history of Budapest with many interesting sections (architecture, politics, war, culture, bathing culture, theater, entertainment, furniture etc.).
The lower floor has many sculptures, stone pieces, the Gothic room and the Chapel!
Everything is displayed really well, and there's a lot of interactive parts which are marked with a hand symbol. It's clean and quiet.
There are nice toilets on each floor. The souvenir shop inside by the entrance is great, many cool pins and keychains with motifs from tiles in St. Stephens Hall, and the prices are fair. There's a cool cafe in the room next to it also!
So worth the time and money!
