I sent the email below to the management team at Buddha Bar and never received a response. The host told me that the most I could get for my bad experience is a CD...
In any case, here is the email: On Saturday night, my boyfriend, friend, and I went to Buddah Bar for the first time to celebrate being in Paris for the first time from the U.S. Upon our arrival, we were seated pretty quickly, but were placed in the back behind a pole - I'm not sure if this was because I am Hispanic and my friend is African-American. In any case, as we ordered our food two different parties sat in the table next to us and left after a couple of minutes, which we found weird because they left so quickly - we're not sure why this happened, but it made us feel extremely uncomfortable. We noticed that those parties were moving to the center of the restaurant, which was upsetting considering that we were told that we could not move to the center because we only had three people in our party. Despite this fact, we tried to continue to enjoy our experience at Buddah Bar.
Shortly thereafter, the restaurant started getting busier at around 21:00 and the tables started to fill up. Even though we got to the restaurant early at around 20:00 and put in our orders, we saw that the tables around us received their food much faster than us. In fact, the table next to us (after it was filled) came and went before us. In total, it took 2 hours for us to get our food and this was after we spoke to the waiter and manager and complained. If we had not complained, it would have been another hour or two. The manager and waiter apologized and explained that the restaurant was short-staffed, but this does not explain why it took so long for us to receive our food and not anyone else.
After we received our meal, we were equally disappointed. The portions were small and after waiting for so long we didn't even want to eat anymore so we asked our waiter to please pack up our meal. He processed to tell us that the restaurant was too busy and couldn't pack up our meal, but that he could give us a box and we could do it ourselves. This is extremely disappointing and shows a poor customer service culture at Buddah Bar. We normally would have this disregarded this, but to pay nearly $200 for this type of experience is inexcusable. I sincerely hope that you can rectify this situation as we are all sadden and disturbed by Buddah Bar.
