Google
100/10 experience here. Very authentic thai food by thai chefs. Friendly owner and we had a good time there!

My wife and I were actually excited to try Buddha Thai. We showed up early at 5.10pm, waited for them to open, and walked in expecting at least a basic welcome. Instead… nothing. The staff didn’t even look at us. I had to go up and ask for a table myself. Even though the place had plenty of empty, unreserved tables, they stuck us at a table clearly meant for someone else and told us we had to leave by 6pm. That already felt weird. We sat because it was a Sunday in Launceston and finding another open spot is basically impossible. They handed us menus, and less than a minute later the server came back demanding our order. I asked her for two minutes because we literally just got the menu, and she gave us the most unpleasant look. Both of us felt uncomfortable instantly. Then when we tried to order the spicy noodles that are still on their online menu, she snapped that they don’t have it. Same unpleasant attitude. At this point the vibes were just… bad. And it kept going. They brought our drinks with no tray, just carried in their hands, then slammed them onto the table and walked off. It didn’t look hygienic at all, and the whole interaction felt rude and careless. We ended up ordering something else, and the food honestly wasn’t good enough to justify any of it, bland and nowhere near the hype. Overall, we felt rushed, unwelcome, and straight-up disrespected from the moment we walked in. Definitely not returning. There are plenty of better places in Launceston where you’ll actually be treated like a human being.

Me and my husband love this place! We always look forward to lunch/dinner whenever we are in Launceston. The staff are friendly, the food comes out quick and delicious, and there are vegetarian options.

It is a bit busy, but the food is amazing. Nice Thai taste. Worth the money I spent. Highly recommend. Their customer service is super!

We had green curry, chicken with cashew nuts and mango sticky rice. Yum! All meals we eat often at many Thai restaurants (including in Thailand) and this was excellent. There was plenty of meat. Very flavourful. Reasonable prices and not slow service despite a full restaurant. Recommended.

I arrived here with my family at 7:20pm and ordered, expecting a filling meal. Instead, we waited 40 minutes for our food and received small portions. I do not recommend ANYONE do NOT come here unless you hate having money in your bank and love waiting more than half an hour for minimal portions

We ordered lunch menu and the food portion was just nice. However, tom yum soup was pricey as it came as a small bowl. Wished that it could be spicier with more ingredients in it! Otherwise, it is still a great place for Thai food.

Yelp
I had laksa which was amazing. Couldn't have asked for anything better on a chilly and rainy afternoon. The restaurant was just about to close after lunch, but they were happy to serve us. Would love to go back but we were just in holiday!

Yelp
Yes! That's what you should say when somebody suggests to eat here for lunch. It was a beautiful day so I could sit outside and being summer meant Som Tum was on the special menu (not on the paper menu). What a treat. I had to ask for real spice and they delivered. This Green Papaya Salad camee topped with 3 delicious prawns. I've just ordered more food! I hope I can come back here... Friendly staff, great prices and well presented, delicious food.

Yelp
Buddha Cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and until recently I'd only ever been here for breakfast. It's a cosy little spot opposite Princes Square. For breakfast they do standards with a thai twist - french toast with bacon and tamarind sauce, chicken satay on toast, thai-style omelette, bacon and egg roll with homemade chilli jam... All delicious and a little bit different. And the coffee is excellent. Lunch and dinner is more standard thai fare. Really delicious food and wonderful coconut rice. The lychee frappe drink is freshly blended and totally worthwhile. Service is quick and friendly, and the food comes out promptly and piping hot. It's not a big space, and it's pretty busy on a Saturday night, so it could be a good idea to either get in early or book a table at peak times.

Yelp
Came here for the first time recently for an evening meal. Was jam packed with people and we were lucky to get a table. Squishy, but cosy. Gorgeous old building. Nice interior design. The food here was delicious. Fresh ingredients. Well put together and presented. I ate a satay tofu dish, name escapes me sorry. Hubby had a ginger red meat stir fry. Both where of high quality and we couldn't fault. The cold Thai milk tea was something new to try, quite sweet, but tasty. The meal sizes where not big, so perhaps an entree in addition would fill the belly if you are super hungry. Service was fast and efficient. Not super friendly, but not rude in any way. Easy city location if you are in the area. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times and everything we've had was amazing. Small and cozy and the food is to die for. Duck red curry and chicken wings are amazing, as are the satay skewers and spring rolls! Will be back again soon!
