My wife and I were actually excited to try Buddha Thai. We showed up early at 5.10pm, waited for them to open, and walked in expecting at least a basic welcome. Instead… nothing. The staff didn’t even look at us. I had to go up and ask for a table myself.
Even though the place had plenty of empty, unreserved tables, they stuck us at a table clearly meant for someone else and told us we had to leave by 6pm. That already felt weird.
We sat because it was a Sunday in Launceston and finding another open spot is basically impossible. They handed us menus, and less than a minute later the server came back demanding our order. I asked her for two minutes because we literally just got the menu, and she gave us the most unpleasant look. Both of us felt uncomfortable instantly.
Then when we tried to order the spicy noodles that are still on their online menu, she snapped that they don’t have it. Same unpleasant attitude. At this point the vibes were just… bad.
And it kept going.
They brought our drinks with no tray, just carried in their hands, then slammed them onto the table and walked off. It didn’t look hygienic at all, and the whole interaction felt rude and careless.
We ended up ordering something else, and the food honestly wasn’t good enough to justify any of it, bland and nowhere near the hype.
Overall, we felt rushed, unwelcome, and straight-up disrespected from the moment we walked in. Definitely not returning. There are plenty of better places in Launceston where you’ll actually be treated like a human being.
