Had a surprise party to go to for my sitter. The service was absolutely amazing. The poor waitress was busting her butt. She was PERFECT. Food was great. Felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, even though we just had one side of the restaurant. My mom threw the party, but it was an amazing place for it . If you’re looking for a place to host a family party this is a perfect spot. Amazing! Great job thank you so much staff at buddy’s Dearborn!!❤️

I really enjoyed our meal. My boys had hot wings and considered them really good. Not to saucy, crispy, delicious. We had a 4sq pizza. Yum! My lasagna hit the spot! Super tasty. We were turned off by the sticky table, presumably caused by years of sanitizing. And, our bench was duct taped together. I would definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again.

Finished up a trip to Michigan, and was heading back to the airport. Had time to grab some lunch before heading to the car return lot. Found a Buddy’s location near the airport and stopped in for a taste of Detroit. What a great decision. Grabbed a four square of their specialty old world pepperoni. Let’s start with the crust. Magnificent! The thick crust was crispy on outside, and soft and chewy inside. Taste like real bread that had been given time to rise and develop. Airy and light. The sauce was simple, and perfect. Tasted of fresh tomatoes. No metallic or off tasting flavors found. Just freshness. Great mozzarella cheese. And then the layers of traditional pepperoni under the cheese and old world on top. Little cups of pepperoni goodness. Despite all that…it wasn’t oily at all. I didn’t leave feeling heavy and gross. I’ve eaten a lot of pizza in my life. I’m not gonna say this was life altering…cause it’s pizza. But it made me smile. That’s a good bite of food.

We love Buddy’s. Awesome salad and pizza’s. The only downside is the dirty floors and the smell. It reminds me of the kids pizza place (chubby…..) that has carpet, this restaurants smells the same. They need to steam their rubber floors.

Looking at the good ratings we decided to pick up pizza here at Buddys. Buddys as a restaurant , the staff was very professional and delivered order to our Car during COVID- crisis and we are very thankful to them. "Detroit Style Pizza" was a joke . It was like a Foccacia bread with cheese, vegetables and meat on top. Square pizza what they call was pretty expensive for the portion. Pizza base was nothing like a pizza but like bread so too much bread to topping/cheese ratio really spoiled the whole experience. Having come from Chicago where we have amazing deep dish pizza , this pizza was really not worth calling a pizza Again this is just my personal opinion on Detroit style pizza , other may Love it. They did have regular pizza which i am sure would be good. I also got the Hot wings which were very good but kinda tiny. The brownie was very doughy and less sweet. Buddys Fries were more like potato wedges and really good. It was more about trying new style of pizza and we did not like it. I would definitely recommend to try other items in this place.

Google
We each had a 4 corner pizza. All were done exactly as ordered. We all loved our pizzas. They were cooked and delivered in a timely manner for deep dish pizza. We had an appetizer (fried veggie sampler) which came quickly and was warm and delicious. The servers were all nice and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxing. The restaurant had lots of tables and a bar area. Plenty of parking. The only slight negative is that our table was kind of sticky but not a big deal. Total with tip was 108 bucks.

Phenomenal pizza, very friendly service. I had some pizza while staying here and it rocked so i grabbed 2 pies and brought them back to Toronto to share with my wife, held up quite well with some reheating I was impressed! The lady at the carry out counter was friendly and the wait after ordering was about 20 minutes for the 2 pizzas, not too bad! Next time i’m in Detroit I’ll be back to Buddy’s.

Had a great experience! We ordered two pizzas and cheese bread. To be honest, we weren’t expecting them to be that huge! Everything was fresh and delicious. Totally recommended!

Yelp
Buddy's Dearborn Pizza - An Unforgettable Experience! From the moment you step into Buddy's Dearborn, the inviting aroma of garlic ,basil, and, freshly baked pizza with an atmosphere that feels capture the empowerment of Detroit innovative culture. The Dirty deep classic Detroit-style pizza is a revelation, with a perfectly crispy crust, generous layers of cheese that reach every corner, and toppings that are bursting with flavor. What really made our experience exceptional was Lisa, the manager. She greeted us with a friendly smile, went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, and even gave us her recommendations on must-try menu items. Her enthusiasm and genuine care for the customer experience. side note: (she well knowledgeable on pizza history) Buddy's Dearborn has it all--phenomenal food, a welcoming atmosphere, and amazing service.

Yelp
"78 years ago a new style of pizza was born in the Motor City and it was different. What makes a pizza Detroit-Style? The same things that made Detroit - a little bit of ingenuity, some stubborn spirit and a whole lot of heart. It's what sparked an original idea back in 1946 to take a steel auto pan, create something new and make Buddy's the birthplace of Detroit-Style Pizza. - The Detroit-Style Pizza legacy began at Buddy's Rendezvous Pizzeria on Six Mile and Conant street on Detroit's eastside when in 1946 Gus Guerra and team made their first square-shaped pizza. Baked in forged-steel pans borrowed from local automotive plants, they were able to produce a very light and crispy crust which is now known as Detroit-Style Pizza. This was the first known square pizza in the U.S. and now, more than 78 years later, the pizza style has become a national favorite. Detroit-Style Pizza is recognizable by its iconic square shape and crunchy, cheesy corner slices. Influenced by square Sicilian-style pizza, Detroit-Style Pizza consistently impresses pizza lovers due to its unique layering structure and stunning presentation. " Buddy's Pizza - Dearborn offers one of the MOST Authentic Detroit Style 'Square-Pan' Pizzas anywhere in the World. The only thing that matches it is the Detroit Style 'Square-Pan' Pizzas that one can find at every other branch of Buddy's Pizza found in the growing Detroit Metro. What do the Critics Say: "Detroit's pizza scene is one of the most exciting in the country," said Food & Wine Magazine. USA Today called Buddy's Pizza "Pilgrimage-worthy pizza" and The Daily Meal named it #6 of the 101 Best Pizzas in America. "Detroit-Style Is Motown's Favorite Pizza," said Pizza Marketing Quarterly. CBS news said, "Detroit cooks up a comeback with its signature pizza."

Yelp
Buddy's supposedly has one of the best Detroit style pizzas. It's sauce on top of the cheese instead of the other way around. We were meeting my hubby's friend here. They shared the All-Corner 8-Squared $22.99. I got the lunch special 1/2 pasta, signature side salad and buddy bread $9.99. I chose spaghetti and antipasto salad. The spaghetti was dry and the antipasto needed more dressing. I would pass on those and just get the pizza. The pizza is what they're known for and I can see why. The pizza was so good. The crust is deep dish, so the sides of the crust is super crispy. Their red sauce and cheese was delicious. They opted for no toppings. His friend said that the toppings made the pizza soggy. I would like to try one with toppings the next time just to see. They're cheese pizza people. I'm load on the toppings person.

Yelp
My search for finding a place to fulfill Pizza night has been filled. The scene is quaint, full of all sorts of people. Whether in town to watch the Wings or Big Blue perform, they also have full bar. Where, even you can get a snoot of Hendricks (gin), if you're in need of a drink. I'm stuffing my jowls on two, 4-squared pizzas- Greek town, and Meat Deluxe. All the while trying to be healthy with a medium sized antipasto!

Yelp
Food and environment were great. Drinks were refilled consistently. Kids were happy. Win win All around.

Yelp
We had their minestrone soup, which was the best I have ever had. Their 4 square Detroit Public TV pizza, amazing flavor and the crust was to die for. Service was great and the atmosphere was old school, clean and inviting.

Yelp
Buddy's is Detroit! Detroit is Buddy's! Been coming here since I was a kid and the consistency, service and food is what keeps bringing me back! I like this location in Dearborn the best! Just like the vibe, environment and of course the food!! Never disappointed when I come here! Came in today for lunch and it was great as usual!

Yelp
Buddy's is supposedly the birthplace of Detroit-style pizza so I had to stop by one of their locations during my recent visit to Detroit. You can order either a 4 square or 8 square size, and I ordered a 4-square of the Super 6 Mile pizza for $17.49. This Detroit-style pizza a nicely crispy raised crust (not as deep as Chicago deep dish though). This pizza had pepperoni, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and ham, although it was generally a bit light on the toppings, especially the pepperoni. That being said, the Wisconsin brick cheese was delicious and nicely melted on the pizza. We also tried the Buddy Bread ($5.99) as a starter. This was a bit underwhelming. While the bread was soft with a bit of cheese and garlic, it was not as flavorful as I would have hoped for. They definitely could've benefited from more cheese, garlic, and some melted butter on there too (instead of the small butter packets on the side). The place is decorated very much in a Detroit kind of style with Detroit-themed decor all over the walls. There is a very chill vibe with plenty of seating available. The service was a bright spot at Buddy's. Shoutout to our waiter Billy for being extremely friendly and helpful - he definitely made sure we were having a good experience. The hostess was also very friendly. The service speed was pretty quick. Overall, aside from a few points for improvement, I enjoyed my time at Buddy's. Whether you are a local or a visitor looking to try out Detroit-style pizza, I think Buddy's is a great option for you.

Yelp
What happened to Buddy's? The pizza is flat and blonde in color. The cheese doesn't taste the same to me and the sauce is now close to catsup. Raise the price if you need to but bring back the old Buddy's cause this isn't worth eating.
google avatar

Cokamo B.

Yelp
Pizza was amazing. Still recommend this place little pricey but it's good. They're fast piece of tasted great. They added my Parmesan cheese and my crush red pepper. They didn't give me a receipt, but it was still good.

Yelp
I hope this review, is beneficial to somebody. Because I wasn't planning on making a review on any of my stops in Detroit. However, here goes. Family style well known restaurant. A must stop. The menu includes everything. From a well array of appetizers to desserts, and a full bar. My fav was the mule. Wait staff is fun and patient to first timers. I enjoyed everything I had, had the 4 ct margarita pizza. The Detroit pizza is not overwhelming on the dough and toppings. There isn't much to say, because I had a pleasant experience and nothing negative is relevant to share. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Detroit classic and good quality. Although a chain nice classic Detroit pizza with many different styles of pizza to get. Nice large venue with tons of space and quick service. Went with a few people for a lite lunch and got the green pizza and classic. Both were delicious . Defs recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Firstly, I'd like to thank the manager, Lisa, for her exceptional customer service and prompt attention to my previous concerns. After my issues were addressed, I decided to give this place another chance, and I'm glad I did! We ordered the Motown Museum 8-square pizza, and it was excellent. Our server was also very polite, making the experience even better.

Yelp
The Sicilian pizza and veggie appetizer were standouts for us. The downside of the meal was our server Mariah. She had no personality and it felt as if she didn't want to serve us. The food and ambiance were great but I had to lower my rating because of the lack of service.
google avatar

Billy L.

Yelp
Buddy's is always my favorite. I think they have the best pizza in the metro Detroit area and their minestrone soup is one of my all time favorites. The soup is a meal in itself with plenty of vegetables and very thick. I shared a pizza with a friend who likes Green Lantern pizza the best but he had never tried Buddy's before. I asked him which he liked better and he said it would be hard to decide because he likes them both. I'm a Buddy's girl myself - been going to Buddy's since I was a kid down on Woodward Avenue in Detroit.

Yelp
Any time I come to Michigan I make my way here for some great pizza. This trip was no different. Was seated quickly and taken care of well. No issues with service. Had the Detroit public tv pizza which was delicious. Also had the special chili cheese fries, which were ok. The fries were really heavy on the cheese and light on the chili. If you get these I recommend asking for some ranch. Easy parking behind the building. Cool decor in the restaurant too. A bunch of old Detroit themed pictures and such, mostly regarding the tigers.

Yelp
What is there not to like about pizza?!!! That is probably the most food I've eaten in a year! Went with the 8 Mile, no green peppers, original crust and a thin crust (4 square). Why because why not! Both were amazing! When I eat here again (yes again I'd fly to DTW to eat at Buddy's) I'd go with the original crust. Then had the lemon cake! It was so light and decadent. A must have (don't know how I made room). The service was amazing. I always let them know if its my first time eating anyplace. She gave me the rundown on Buddy's and made recommendations. Place was clean and was bigger than what I thought it would be.
google avatar

Pisei S.

Yelp
Went here during lunch. Got the spicy square pizza and chicken wings. The chicken wings were super great, crunchy and tasty. The pizza was mediocre. The place was clean and the waitress was quick.

Keith R.

Yelp
The pizza was undercooked. Brought out of town friends there because the original Buddy's closes at 8 on a weekend. I think the Buddy's in the freezer at the store is better. Totally off. Go to Loui's. This was completely unacceptable. Posted a picture of a Loui's pizza just so that Buddy's can be ashamed of itself.
google avatar

Yelp
Really excellent pizza! Nostalgic memorabilia all over the restaurant. Good fast service and excellent recommendations on what to order. It was busy even in the middle of the afternoon, so I'd expect it's really busy at meal times. Prices were pretty much as expected. One individual salad was enough for two people as well as one 4 square pizza and we were stuffed. Come hungry!
google avatar

Tara K.

Yelp
Came in around 8:30 on s Friday night and we were sat right away. Our server Monica was great, friendly and attentive. We got our drinks and salad right away. The antipasto salad was delicious as usual. We ordered the Sicilian pizza, which was very good, although I thought it would have a little kick with "Sicilian spices" as the menu said. Very good pizza, lots of cheese pull. I'll be back, I never think to go here.
google avatar

Britane B.

Yelp
This place has been a place to go for a quick bite for me. The burger was great and the fries were to as well. Although I asked for tomatoes and onions on my sandwich and didn't get it. I told the waitress and she definitely took off 10% and that made me a little more satisfied. Forgot to take a before photo but you get the picture. If you're ever in Dearborn check them out. Burger was a little salty so I give it a 7.3 outta 10
google avatar

Yelp
This was my first time trying Detroit style pizza. I was not impressed. It felt like a lot of breading with very little cheese or sauce. For the pepperoni we had a contest trying to find them on our piece. Not terrible just not my style.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Our first time at Buddy's. The crust was crunchy and and delicious. I liked how there was barely a sauce and yet the tomatoes came through to cover it. We got four slice ones. The Zoo was the favorite as the simple cheese tomato and basil were flavorful enough. I had three slices and found that filling for me. But if you are bigger eater you can definitely eat one alone if hungry enough. Nice sports bar atmosphere with muted TVs all around. Service was good.

Yelp
Typical buddy's pizza. As good as the rest of the chain. My family loved it when I brought them for their visit to detriot. Every buddy has to experience the detriot lifestyle at least once. Ordered take out so service was speedy! Restaurant looked like a typical dive bar. Seating around booths and bar.

Yelp
Would not come on a Saturday. Our server Mariah W did not give proper change or receipt. Took 35 minutes for an appetizer when the restaurant was slow. Another server brought our lunch out five minutes after the app. Without part of the order ever arriving. Server rounded to the nearest dollar when checking out our tab and gave no receipt, only know her name from the bill. Service has never been so poor and we eat here twice a week. Yeah plenty of parking when we arrived less than a third full so I have no idea what the excuse would be for such horrible service. Do yourself a favor come during the week. Arrived at 11:42am left at 2:06pm. We spent more than our fair share of time waiting today. Thirty plus minutes for an appetizer of tenders, buddies bread never came. Then our lunches came five minutes by a different server. Then wait for the bill was over twenty five minutes, but she was super quick taking the money. Came back with just the bills rounding up in the businesses favor. No receipt just dollar bills unlike every other visit in the last three months. Twice a week. Apparently it is time for a break up with buddies with declining service and rounding off the change in the favor of the business. FYI I collect my change and when I have a full jar I cash it in. I want my change whether it is .72 cents like I am owed or a measly .02 cents. I consider being short changed the same as theft. Every penny counts in this world. Dearborn Michigan ave location. Seriously train your servers to be better. First experience with Mariah is definitely an unpleasant one.

Yelp
I heard so much about Buddy's pizza vs and it did not disappoint. First of all, this is the first time I tried Detroit style pizza and I love everything about it. I got spicy Italian pizza, it was so good it was packed with flavor. I really like the crunchy of the pizza. Also ordered the minestrones soup, it was really different not as liquid as others, I really enjoyed this as well. The service was excellent, they are fast, nice , and kind. The waitress talked to us like a family, it almost a family diner feel. I like the experience, if I come back to Detroit I will come back for sure!!!
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
If I can give the pizza 10 stars I would. Detroit style pizzas are by far my favorite style pizzas. We are in town for Detroit Free Press Marathon. This is a great post race meal. Server was very friendly.
google avatar

Hud D.

Yelp
The pizza is big and filling it came fast and the barbecue chicken pizza had just the right amount of sauce which is rare
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
The Greektown pizza was excellent. The crust was the perfect crispy and the toppings were plentiful. The medium Greek salad, which the menu stated feeds 3-5, fed my family for almost 3 meals. It is definitely large. The service was excellent and attentive. The overall decor was retro with arcade games and brick walls. Great for families and good portion sizes for the price.

Yelp
"His name was always buddy And he'd shrug and ask to stay She'd sigh like twig the wonder kid And turn her face away" (David Bowie) Who knew "Detroit style" pizza was a thing? I sure didn't. But I'm glad that I not only learned about it, but had a chance to sample it when nineteen of us had an epic dinner at Buddy's Pizza in Dearborn. We had a private room in the back, and our fantastic server Jillian made sure we were well taken care of. We selected an AYCE feast of breadsticks, green salads, salads with diced meats and cheeses, and of course plenty of Detroit Style pizza. So what exactly is Detroit Style? Here's the main features. 1) It has square slices baked in a rectangular pan, The pizza is on the thicker side with soft chewy crust. The size of the pan and slices guarantee that every slice is an "outside" piece and there are zero "inside" pieces. 2) Its constructed a little differently from the pizzas I'm familiar with in NY, MA and CT. Detroit style layers the cheese right on top of the pizza dough and carefully spreads it across every square inch of the dough from corner to corner. No speck of dough is uncovered, And spreading it across the entire pan's surface eliminates the useless perimeter of dough on traditional pizzas. A bonus is the super crunchy cheesy edges! 3) Another difference is the way the sauce is applied. Not in a full layer, but with ribbons of sauce across the pie, like tiger stripes. The pizza was magnificent and our group took full advantage of the AYCE format with pepperoni, bacon, Neapolitan, and veggie combinations. Thank you Buddy's and Jillian for our epic memorable and very delicious meal.

Ted O.

Yelp
I ordered online and waited until the pickup time to get my pizza when I get there they have my receipt but no Pizza the gave it to someone else then told me that I would have to wait 15 minutes for another one, they should have offered me a beer or a salad or something since it was their mistake but she didn't , not the way to treat customers! ps this was during half time of the Lions game which made it worse
google avatar

Preston B.

Yelp
Had a layover for 9 hours in Detroit coming from Los Angeles while on my way to Iceland, so I had thought it be a good idea to hit up one of Detroit's most prized pizza establishments near the airport. I was not very happy with my pizza. There was no sauce, the pepperoni was none existent, cheese was not that melted, dough galore, dry goodbye. It's a shame to say that basic everyday pizza establishments are far more better, such as Pizza Hut or Little Caesars. All stars deducted.
google avatar

Jerry N.

Yelp
Food was decent service was decent. Looks like they have quite a bit of turnover with employees. What brought the rating down was dust falling from the ceiling that and inexperienced staff.. for the price I would probably choose someplace else
google avatar

Dustin H.

Yelp
I always trust the locals, and when co-workers suggested we grab Buddy's after a team meeting, I was in. And as a fan of Detroit style pizza, I'm always down, but after learning that Buddy's is *the* original, I was particularly excited to experience it for myself, and I was not disappointed! Buddy's Dearborn location is approachable, family friend, staffed with really friendly people, and the pizza is fantastic. I particularly loved the sauce, which had a really nice bright tomato flavor. Will definitely be back...
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with friends the day of my wedding, and it was great as ever. This location was very nice and staff was great. Pizzas were on point as always, and we didn't feel rushed in finishing up and getting out of the private room they set us up in. Buddy's is always a delight and this location is no different. Love it!
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
Moist and lightly breaded fis and hot fries. So delicious. Served at Buddy's on Fridays through Lent. Best I've had in wuite a while as it's my favorite meal. I hope Buddy's will add to regular menu. Reasonable price for such good quality. Service very friendly by Zeena. Welcoming personality. I love the decor of awards and family photos on the wall and take out area very clean.
google avatar

Calvin L.

Yelp
I was excited to try Buddys because of its great reputation, I also saw it on Youtube. I got the Detroiter, at first impression eating it I thought it was lowkey mid but then it dawned on me that the pizza was actually just ass. Barely any pepperoni, the pepperoni on the top was too far burnt and the pepperoni inside was too undercooked. The sauce and cheese taste cheap. Not worth the price. Shame on you Buddy's Pizza Dearborn, real talk...
google avatar

PJ C.

Yelp
Since Detroit style pizza has now become a thing in other parts for the country we knew we had to have one when in town. We checked around and Buddy's consistently came up as one of the best. The one in Dearborn, though not the original, was close to where we were staying. A big bonus was that it was warm enough to eat outside in early October - so we grabbed a patio table. Our waitress was very helpful in navigating the happy hour pricing and a discount you get when signing up for their app (its worth it!). We ordered an 8 piece Detroiter and it was very good. The crust was excellent- cheesy and crispy. The only downside was the lack of sauce - they needed a bit more sauce. We really enjoyed it - we scarfed down six of the eight pieces - leaving two slices for breakfast.
google avatar

Stacey M.

Yelp
Wanted to try the best pizza in Detroit, little did I know, I ended up at the restaurant that invented the style. Super delicious pizza, great service and locale.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
Buddy's in Dearborn is hit or miss with service and food quality. It's a relatively clean restaurant. Pizza crust is sometimes overdone and sometimes underdone. Toppings on pizza are sparse. The tomato-basil sauce is rich and full of flavor. A highly recommend swapping out the regular pizza sauce of this one!
google avatar

Brandy W.

Yelp
Good think dough pizza. Service is good and friendly. I usually get mine to go. So I pick it up.
google avatar

Toni T.

Yelp
My favorite Michigan pizza. I love to have Buddy's on my first night when visiting. Unique and tasty.

Kathy P.

Yelp
First time trying Detroit pizza. It was excellent! Friendly servers and enjoyed our outdoor table.
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
I've been to this location a few times and always enjoyed my pizza there. I like that you can get four squares, just right for one person, and mix toppings so basically you get two squares with one kind of topping and two squares with another kind. If you like Detroit-style pizza this is the place to go!
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
I love the this location. Went on a Saturday night and just beat the rush at 9:30 pm. Our server was Crystal and she was a Queen! We loved her so much. She was friendly and fabulous. She got us everything we needed in a timely fashion. The food was delicious. We all love the antipasto salad. Mmmm! Pizza is so yummy as well as the breadsticks. The Buddy Brew is tasty if you like beer. two thumbs up for this place!
google avatar

LaDreena W.

Yelp
Delicious! Had a little of everything: mozzarella sticks, salads, spaghetti, wings and pizza. Nothing disappointed! We are longtime fans of Little Cesar's and this was far better! It was also nice and clean with prompt service.

John P.

Yelp
Great variety of delicious Detroit-style pizzas and other Italian dishes to eat in or take out. (The tiramisu is excellent.) This Dearborn sports bar, one of a Detroit-area chain, is very popular, judging by the size of the crowd. Take out orders have their own special entrance with a dedicated staff operating with great efficiency. Would definitely come back regularly for their pizza.

Yelp
I came here with my team for lunch outside during the summer. This is a work favorite for larger group parties. Who doesn't like pizza? It's nice that they have outside seating, although the Michigan traffic is your background as well as the view of the back parking lot of Garrison. My team was able to get their own pizza, best during covid season. I think their GF personal pizza with just about all of their veggies is always my go to at any Buddy's. Prices are reasonable. Service wasn't bad on a busy lunch day either.
