We booked a couple of nights to celebrate a belated anniversary. We last stayed 14 years ago and this visit didn’t disappoint. Lovely, helpful staff, in a charming hotel with lots of character. We booked a signature room (no: 8) which we were initially more than happy with, but heating and towel rail didn’t work, only one small window opened a few inches and the rest were sealed shut with paint and lots of condensation and black mould. The carpet has seen better days with an obvious dog pee stain and other marks. But bed was sumptuous with crisp clean linen, conducive to a good nights sleep. However, we were upgraded to a suite (No: 39) for the 2nd night which really was lovely, and clearly had a refurb, with stunning views over the garden and golf course. The walk across the grounds, down a footpath and along the shoreline to the Ferryboat inn was definitely worth the effort. Although not for the faint hearted as the footpath is steep and rutty, and definitely need a torch in the evening as the nights draw in. Also beware of the tide times otherwise be prepared to take footwear off to wade through the water. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, worth every penny and definitely recommend it to family and friends!
