Buena Vista Surf Club

I stayed at Buena Vista Surf Club for over a week and I highly recommend it for a relaxing/beachy stay. Rooms are rustic but well kept and the service is amazing! There is daily breakfast which was incredibly delicious. Meals are served family style which was great for a solo traveler like me to get some interaction. Josh and Sophie were incredible hotel hosts - easily reachable by phone if not in person for any issues or questions. They also both teach yoga and teach daily classes at the hotel which was super relaxing (and I’m not a yoga person). The hotel is walking distance from the beach but the area itself is sparse with only a few restaurants. Overall I had such a relaxing stay here and I highly recommend!

Incredible experience at Buena Vista Surf Club! The surfing was so much fun. The accommodation was amazing – comfortable, stylish, and perfectly set in a beautiful location. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and gave us the energy we needed to hit the waves. The best part? It felt like a holiday with friends – warm, welcoming, and relaxed. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an unforgettable surf getaway!

I couldn’t recommend Buena Vista Surf Club enough!! It was my first time in Nicaragua and the hotel manager, Josh, took such good care of me and made my stay epic. My days consisted of daily yoga and meditation classes, ice baths, delicious hotel breakfasts, surfing at sunset and soaking up the vibes at the beautiful Maderas beach. I also had one of the best massages of my life (not said lightly) and went fishing with the group, which was so much fun! Without a question, I’ll be back at Buena Vista as soon as I can!

A wonderful few days at Buena Vista Surf Club. Located in the hills above Playa Maderas, the views are stunning, the cabanas are beautiful, and the dinners are lovely. Josh, the manager, can’t do enough to help and his morning yoga sessions are the perfect way to start the day. I fully recommend this little slice of paradise in Nicaragua.

What an incredible place ! Josh was a fantastic host, always around to help out and suggest fun activities. Buena Vista is in the most stunning location with comfortable and spacious cabañas, and a few minutes from the beach. We loved Yoga each morning followed by delicious breakfast ! Our stay at the Buena Vista Surf Club at Playa Maderas was unforgettable! To start the day with yoga on the sun deck was a great experience. During the yoga you can watch the ocean and check out the surf conditions, it's a breathtaking setting to start the day. The freshly prepared breakfast every morning was also really good. The jungle vibes around the hotel create a unique, relaxed atmosphere. What really made our stay special were our hosts Josh and Sophie. Thanks to their warmth and hospitality, our stay felt less like a vacation and more like visiting friends in a beautiful environment. Our stay at the Buena Vista Surf Club at Playa Maderas was truly memorable. We particularly enjoyed the yoga on the sun deck, where you can watch the ocean – a beautiful way to start the day. The breakfast was fantastic and a highlight every morning, and the jungle vibes around the hotel created a unique, relaxed atmosphere. However, it’s important to keep in mind that being in the jungle means you might encounter some moisture, and you might even wake up to the sound of howler monkeys. But for us, these were all part of the authentic experience that made our stay special. We highly recommend the Buena Vista Surf Club to everyone!

Buena Vista Surf Club is absolutely incredible! The view of the ocean is breathtaking—you can see the waves right from the property. The yoga space is magical, set on a beautiful terrace overlooking the trees, and it’s not unusual to have monkeys just a couple of meters away while you practice. The vibe is super family-like, whether you’re traveling solo or as a couple—you’re always surrounded by amazing people. They organize lots of activities, from ice baths and yoga classes to surf days and cozy evening gatherings. The owners, Josh and Sophie, are incredibly kind and welcoming, making the experience even better. The food is a highlight—breakfasts are included, and the communal meals are cooked by talented local women. Everything is super tasty and generous in portions. The wood cabins are beautiful, with a few insects here and there (it’s in the jungle, after all), but that just adds to the charm of the experience. It’s truly a stunning spot, and I can’t recommend it enough. If you’re visiting Madeira, this place is a MUST. It’s one of my favorite places in Nicaragua, and I’ve been to quite a few! I

We visited Buena Vista Surf Club every morning for yoga with Sophie and Josh, and they quickly became some of our favorite hosts. They are truly incredible people—welcoming, kind, and so thoughtful. The yoga sessions were amazing, and the family-style breakfast they served was delicious, full of great conversation and warmth.||Sophie even arranged a lovely massage for us on a rainy day, which was a perfect way to relax. She also helped us connect with other guests who were traveling to Ometepe, so we could share the fare to the San Jorge ferry terminal—such a thoughtful gesture that made our travels so much easier.||Even though we weren't staying at the surf club, Sophie and Josh treated us like family, going above and beyond to make our experience special. The yoga, the food, and their hospitality were all top-notch. We’d highly recommend Buena Vista Surf Club and would definitely consider staying here if we’re ever back in the area.
