Yelp
Mili provides amazing service . Made a very relaxing experience in Sonoma. So welcoming and friendly.

Yelp
First, just a call out that the parking lot is a bit of a walk away from the winery entrance, so if you have someone with accessibility problems, drive up the driveway and drop them off! I wish I would've known that before parking (although shout out to Dane who took us in a golf cart back to our car after our tasting!). We had a seated tasting in the Bubble Lounge, and my goodness, first Mili is the greatest host of all time. She was fun, sassy (but like, appropriately so!), and allowed you to go at your own pace. She encouraged us to explore all the floors with our tastings, and was generous with her time to all the tasters in the room. She also recommended we go check out the Sonoma Square's Tuesday Market, and we happened to see her there and she gave us huge hugs -- love feeling like VIPs and we're grateful for her! Second, the champagne was delicious. We didn't buy any bottles beyond the tasting that day, but it's on my list to buy and ship before my next celebration!

Yelp
Buena Vista Winery is amazing! For someone who does not live in California, I've been here a lot (at least 4 times since September 2022). My first experience: a large group of 21 people We were celebrating my 30th birthday and were placed in the Bubble Lounge with Don as our sommelier. He accommodated our group so well! He was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The sparkling wines tasted amazing and we had an awesome time exploring the bubble lounge and the room next to it! My second experience: We were a group of five visiting Buena Vista again (we were all there the first time). We were able to just walk in and do a tasting, which was really kind of the staff! We did a tasting with more still wines which was as delicious as their sparkling if not more. My husband and I are obsessed with their Reserve Pinot Noir. We luckily had Don as our sommelier again and he even remembered us from the first time!! Our experience was so wonderful that my husband and I became wine club members!! My third/ fourth experience: My friend and I went back for a tasting and the winery accommodated us, again. We got to sit in the bubble lounge since I was a club member, which felt so special! The service was incredible. Eric was our sommelier and he was so knowledgeable on wines and made awesome recommendations. And now I also really enjoy Buena Vista's Zinfandels too! We also attended their annual masquerade ball on this trip which was so fun! It was "Alice in Wonderland" themed last year and they really took the theme to heart! The decoration, food, activations and wine was all beyond amazing. We paid for VIP and it was so worth it! 10/10 recommend attending one of their masquerade balls!! The service we received from Don, Eric, and Buena Vista as a whole has been unmatched, especially as a wine club member at different wineries in that area. Every experience with the winery, whether in person or via phone/email has been so wonderful. This is a great winery with top quality wine and service to match. Do not miss it!!

Yelp
An incredibly beautiful place. The staff were nice enough. Tasting fee was $50, which I thought was fairly pricey. I mean, the wines were good, but I just really kind of feel that's a bit much. I gave it four stars, mostly based on a beautiful ambience.

Yelp
Give Dan a Raise! We stopped here on the recommendation from a friend last minute on the way out of town and WOW are we glad. We didn't have a reservation and Dan got us in and gave us an impromptu tour and tasting experience that truly blew us away. Not only were all the wines fantastic and we purchased several but Dan was the epitome of a great tasting attendant. He was informative and not pushy. We tasted at several locations and this was by far the most wonderful experience of the trip, the grounds are beautiful and historic and Dan totally blew us away. GIVE THIS MAN A PROMOTION!! He made it the most fun and amazing part of our weekend. We cannot recommend this winery enough and request Dan!

Yelp
I hadn't been here in several years and what a treat. I went with a large group of ladies. They set up our tasting in a fancy back room next to the oppulent Bubble Lounge. Our server was Jake and he was wonderful. We were first treated to a delightful Sparking Brut Rose, then several other wines on their "almost gone" list. Their Jovitas Chardonnay was my favorite. We also had an unexpected treat of their Port to finish the tasting. Jake then took us for a tour of the caves and their amazing wine making tool museum - I highly recommend you see that if you can. Even though it was a cold rainy day, the grounds were lovely. Apparently they have some outdoor Shakespeare presentations in the Summer - we must come back. The $35 tasting fee was waived with a 2 bottle purchase. Lots of history here and highly recommended!

Yelp
I recently visited Buena Vista winery and was captivated by its European historical charm. As a JCB club member, I enjoyed complimentary tastings at all JCB properties. I recommend making a reservation for a seated tasting to fully appreciate their impressive selection, including the delicious Buena Vista single varietal Cabernet and exquisite champagne. Overall, it was a great experience, combining a beautiful setting.

Joc V.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed this experience...don't ask what wine I had because this was my second winery and was on my 8th glass with really generous pours by some excellent sommeliers that day. Don led our eager tour group with visitors from Brazil and thoroughly impressed us all by managing to learn the name of every single patron. I asked him what his secret was--acting in Shakesperean plays with his sister when they were younger. By the way, Jackie was his very enthusiastic sister who regaled us with a brief operatic performance in their wine cave which had excellent acoustics for this kind of thing. I didn't actually pay attention to the tour and the history of this winery, but it was a good time nonetheless.

Dr Wendy C.

Yelp
A group of ladies and I did a winetasting, and had Brandon Washington our server. This winery has some of the best wines in the region. We had a reservation however they were very booked for the day and he was multi tasking servicing other tables along with ours. I was a little disappointed, because last year's visit, we sat in the cave and got a tour of some of the rooms as part of our wine tasting. We also did not have to share our server with other parties. Nevertheless the ambiance was cool as we sat near/in the gift shop, but would have liked to hear more about the history and the making of the wine. The sheriff is a MUST try!

Dharti D.

Yelp
The vibes were immaculate! Extremely calm, peaceful and relaxing experience. We walked in on a long weekend, and the service was excellent. Couldn't do the wine tasting, yet the servers were very patient and friendly and let us have a taste before we bought a couple of bottles of wine. Definitely recommend "Natalia's Chardonnay" if you're visiting! Bonus points for being pet friendly.

Lisa L.

Yelp
I have been a member at Buena Vista for a few years and have minimally visited as it is always difficult to get a reservation within the week. Living in Sonoma I like to be a bit more spontaneous as I'm not a tourist. And the times I did visit, service was mediocre at best. Fast forward to what would've been my last member visit yesterday to collect my wines ... however, Cedar and Don were awesome and saved a member by providing us with an amazing tasting, conversation and overall great service! Because of them, I'll keep my membership.

Kayla R.

Yelp
Definitely my favorite winery we visited while in Sonoma! I would say this is a "can't miss" winery if you're coming to the area! Even though I haven't been lucky enough to go to Italy, it feels like you're on vacation in Italy and not in California. It is absolutely STUNNING. As you walk up the long driveway, they have a cute garden maze off to the side that you can go through and then maybe something a little more odd was up on the hill, they had cardboard cutouts of I'm assuming people that had to do with the property. I believe it's one of the oldest wineries in California or in the area so I think that's why they have that. My sister pre-booked an experience for us, which I definitely recommend doing. We got to sit in a shaded area at a picnic table. The weather was perfect, but the ambiance made it even better. The wine glasses were already set up for us and our server was absolutely amazing. He made sure to continue to come over to us, educate us on the wine he was pouring, and was super knowledgeable. Seriously, it was such a beautiful experience. The wines were all delicious and we also were able to order a cheese and meat board, which of course we devoured. After we were done, we walked around and they have a beautiful garden, as well as big room where they keep the barrels. Our waiter mentioned it was usually for tours, but that we were able to go walk around in there. I wish I remembered his name. He was honestly amazing! So of course we did walk around and took SO many photos! Seriously I think we took the most amount of photos here because it was just so beautiful! Definitely what I imagined wine country area to look like. I would HIGHLY recommend this winery to anyone! Seriously so beautiful and the wines were so good. I would definitely come back here.

Yelp
Mili was our guide for todays tasting and she's the best! I highly recommend her. She's friendly and very knowledgeable about the Buena Vista wines. The winery itself it's beautiful and has so much to look at. Ambience was great and very chill.

Michelle R.

Yelp
The winery is beautiful. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our tasting and our overall experience. Would love to go back if I'm ever in the area.

Justin C.

Yelp

Robin M.

Yelp
Went on the tour with out of state family. The history lesson was worthwhile. Charming

Aaron T.

Yelp
The tasting experience was exceptional. I'm a long time member of the winery and the staff has always provided excellent service. Our party's server Mili was incredible, they were friendly, professional and made our experience at buena vista memorable. I simply cannot give enough praise to Mili. Mili and the staff always remembers who I am when coming in and have a way of making me feel like a VIP guest Also, shout out to Brandon for the great wine suggestions and also taking the time to say hello, no matter how busy the day is. The ambiance was delightful, it was a perfect day with perfect weather and delicious wine! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Honestly one of the best wine tours that I've been on. My friends and I had a great time here. The property is absolutely whimsical. And all of the wines were tasty, so much so that I ended up buying a bottle.

Elizabeth V.

Yelp
I love this place! I am a member at Raymond Winery and Buena Vista is one of the sister wineries that I can visit. I've actually been here many years ago and fell in love with it. I'm so happy that it's part of Raymond winery and that I can come back here anytime. The staff here is always amazing and warm and welcoming. I've had tastings outside, in the seller, in the pressroom, and in the bubble lounge. On my last visit yesterday I had the pleasure of sitting in the bubble lounge. My host Millie Francesci was wonderful!! She was so welcoming and nice and made me feel like I was part of the family. I really enjoyed speaking with her and her service was very attentive! I would definitely ask for her again the next time I come here. The grounds are beautiful as this winery was made back in the mid 1800s; you really get a sense of the history and I would highly recommend a tour visit if you haven't done one before. The most important part now! The wine itself is very tasty, and had a great part price point, considering the Winery is located in Sonoma. The bottles range $24-44 for regular tasting menu wines that are poured. The Pinots are fruit forward and tasty. I also really enjoy the champagne. Members get access to special events like the holiday events and Shakespeare and other brunches too! Add this to your stop in Sonoma; you won't be disappointed! You can book a reservation easily on Tock.

Katya L.

Yelp
I am a club member here. You wouldn't think I'll be a member and be negative about it, right? Love the wine and the ability to bring the food with me. I like to pair and bring pairing food. It's always nice to have a picnic by the creek tasting fresh, wonderful wine.

Katherine C.

Yelp
I would like to preface I am not a big wine drinker and this is my first winery experience. We had the pleasure of being hosted at the standing bar. He was helping another group that had seated reservations outside so he kind of forgot about us. The other staff members help him out. I'm not sure if this is a known thing but we got bar reservations but it was a standing bar (unbeknownst to me). I would have recommended seating but it did not take away from my winery experience. The winery was beautiful and our host let us know that it was the oldest California winery dating back to the 1800s. The land is about 25 acres but was originally over 800 acres were purchased. It is also one of the few stone built winery's around the area. I loved the facts that the host shared with us.

Mike M.

Yelp
First time in the Sonoma/Napa region was full of hit and misses. This place was a hit! I made phone reservations months in advance but when we arrived at 10:30Am they didn't have my name on the list. Probably best to get an email confirmation Don was so cool to us. We even got a complimentary bottle of wine for their mistake. Unnecessary but much appreciated. Don took us to the cave room and sat down to play the piano while we roamed around the wine caves. There were a few areas to explore including an actual tunnel you walk through to enter an amazing room with chandeliers and a dining area. All under the curved ceiling of the cave. We got a great history lesson of Sonoma (learned that Sonoma was the first capital of CA and it's the place where they raised the state flag with the bear for the first time in the towns square. Buena vista was the first established winery in CA. Three of the 5 or so wines we tried were outstanding. Surprising the Chardonnay was my favorite and I never really enjoy white wines. This one was different. It didn't have that champagne aftertaste that a lot have. I knew when we left we wouldn't be finding any place as good as this one. Out of the 8 wineries we visited only AONAIR in Napa comes close to t he experience you will get at Buena Vista. The grounds here are outstanding too. Out of 8 wineries this was probably the most stunning. Service, atmosphere, wine were All top notch. If you don't come here you will have missed out. Hopefully you get DON as your server. You won't find a better experience.

Billie M.

Yelp
Buena Vista Winery: we were welcomed with a special rose for Mother's Day. Wonderful wines, peaceful tranquil gardens, amazing individualized service - Amelia was incredible with her service and knowledge - make this a five star winery. The charcuterie board was a perfect compliment to the wines. The Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs were each unique and flavorful to our palette. We love the ambience and service of Buena Vista Winery.

Casey K.

Yelp
Buena Vista is a winery full of rich history and was founded in 1857. The winery is located one mile from the Sonoma Square. The walk into Buena Vista includes statues and plaques where you can learn more about the history of the winery.  Buena Vista's main tasting room is located in the Press House, which was built in 1862. Directly outside, they have a courtyard area for tastings. In addition, they have a cave, bubble room and red room. The bubble room and red room are for members only. I came with a group of friends and luckily one of them is a member, so we were able to taste in the red room. The bubble room and red room are both stunning lounges!  Tastings are $25 for current releases and $40 for private reserved tastings. We tried the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Buena Vista is known for their reds, and they do not disappoint!   Don assisted our party, and he was absolutely wonderful! He shared great knowledge about the wine.  Overall, the experience, wine and service were superb!

Sheila R.

Yelp
Got a recommendation to see this winery from all the others in Sonoma. Absolutely beautiful, great history. The grounds have a Maze and the wines were delicious. Got met by Margo - who offered to find a sommelier (Kade) who could assist. They were both professional and had extended themselves in such a way that made me feel as if I was the only customer on site. Service is a big key for me... and they offered great service. So glad I went

Katja K.

Yelp
One of our favourite Sonoma experiences. We started the tasting with a sparkling glass of their version of champagne. We tried multiple wines and ended with the Port as our dessert wine. Ended up buying a bottle of the Sheriff because it was our best tasting of the day. Inside the venue there are multiple different tasting areas but also lots of outdoor shaded place. We went in the maze, took stunning photos, and learned a lot about wine from Cedar! Thank you again for a memorable experience.

Scott M.

Yelp
This is a must stop while in Sonoma! My wife and I have been traveling for a while to different wineries across the State and this just might be our favorite. The history of the winery and the area was fascinating to learn. Vasili was our host, and he was definitely the best host we've ever had, knowledgeable about the winery, the history, wine making process and was pretty darn funny also. The grounds are immaculately clean and gorgeous. The wine itself was fantastic. Again, if you're planning a trip, do yourself a favor and make reservations!

Rachel C.

Yelp
My husband and I visited 3 Wineries on 8/20/23 and Buena Vista was the last stop. We were seated with Dan inside on the second floor and he gave us a guided tasting that was above and beyond our expectations. Dan led us through the private reserve tasting with anecdotes and stories for each wine. He was knowledgeable and friendly, and had a true passion for the product. We highly recommend visiting Buena Vista and working with Dan!

Bridgette B.

Yelp
Visited Buena Vista as part of a fun little weekend outing. There were 5 of us and we did have a reservation (one of us was a member). Because we booked last minute (as in day before!) and it was fairly busy. We were greeted right away and after checking out the situation at the counter because we did not have a table (we were aware of this), our amazing server Jake was able to hook us up with the perfect seating arrangement. Jake was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the various wines we tried. He was able to accommodate the different tastes in our group and add in a great variety of wines for us to try. I highly recommend the champagne - one of the only true champagnes in the valley. My friend from out of town ended up buying some to take back with her (see the great travel case they sell as well in photos). They have some memorable reds as well. If you are there when it isn't too hot, make time to check out the grounds - they are incredibly beautiful as well. I have also been during the holidays and they decorate the property and venue beautifully. Whatever time of year you visit, you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for a wine tasting experience that gives you a variety of flavors, types of wine in a gorgeous old world setting, this is it!

Ty C.

Yelp
Lukers took good care of us. We hit it off right from the start. He answered all our wine questions, poured us a little bit of everything, and had a great vibe and demeanor that really made our visit memorable and enjoyable. We probably had the best staff member we could have had and we will request him specifically for each returning visit. My friend is a member of their wine club, so we had a few tasting included and we paid for the others (which I'm pretty sure were discounted with the wine purchases that some people made in the group). We sat upstairs, outside, and had a wonderful overall experience. There is a short easy shrubbery maze on the way to the tasting area, there are picture frames for snapping pics, and you can tell that a lot of thought was put into the grounds and tasting experience at Buena Vista. I won't go into a ton of detail, just pull the trigger and stop by for a visit and I'm sure you will have a great experience.

Ramona G.

Yelp
I came here with my family Labor Day weekend for wine tasting. My brother-in-law made morning reservations for our group of 6. It was our first time going to Buena Vista and we made some great memories here! I'm not gonna lie, I felt the wine real good! haha I was wine drunk in no time but I had a blast. The wine connoisseur who served us was fantastic and even gave us a few extra glasses. I'm honestly not even sure what I drank anymore haha, all I know is that it tasted delicious! My sister and brother-in-law signed up as members and our family walked away with a few wine bottle purchases. We had a fabulous time and I can't wait to come back again!

Edith V.

Yelp
Their service is truly exceptional, and the atmosphere is incredibly peaceful and soothing.

Gigi A.

Yelp
This winery was absolutely gorgeous! And Cedar who helped us was amazing!! So welcoming and accommodating with my family's group of 8. He was very knowledgeable and answered any silly questions we had. I can't wait to go back and will definitely be asking for him again!

Shari C.

Yelp
Had a fabulous visit to Buena Vista. As new club members we are still getting the drill down and the perks are awesome! We also get perks at the other numerous properties in the group including Raymond and Deloach. Our host Leela was exceptional. Very informative as well as a load of fun! She made our visit the best ever! Got lots of great info on the wines, and viticulture as well as viniculture. Yes there is a difference! Will be a regular visitors and love bringing visitors there.

Thomas B.

Yelp
A fabulous day with Mili... highly recommend requesting her as your host! Extremely knowledgeable - knows all the acronyms and what 288 represents (quiz her)... Enjoy the champagne and the history.

Betty P.

Yelp
Such a beautiful winery with great selections. We chose a wine tasting with lunch and our hostest was amazing. So knowledgeable and friendly. The room we tasted in was decorated in the most random elective things but it all meshed together. We will definitely be back

John F.

Yelp
Millie was awesome, really appreciate how kid-friendly the whole experience was. Would absolutely go back, she was wonderfully welcoming.

Michelle H.

Yelp
We had a great time with our friends this weekend. Our pourer Antone was so much fun. We have been here many times and always enjoyed tasting here.

Alex H.

Yelp
Incredible service from Mili. She took time to understand our preferences and found me the best glass of bubbly I've ever drunk, not to mention comping a charcuterie plate

Ngoc My H.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I had the best time here! We made a reservation to Buena Vista for a 3PM tasting for 8. There was a mix up with the time (our fault), but the people at Buena Vista were nice enough to accommodate us! We were seated outside at a beautiful table surrounded by greenery. You can hear the fountain and the hustle and bustle of people. Our server, Vasili, was the best! He was attentive and knowledgeable about the wine. He also had a great conversation with us and gave very thoughtful life advice/input. He is so calming and we all loved him! We all opted for the seated press house tasting which consisted of a Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, and a Red Blend (Sheriff of Buena Vista). They were all delightful, my favorite was the Chardonnay. We also got to try the Reserve Chardonnay, which was the best! Overall, enjoyable wines with not too much tartness. After finishing the wine, we explored the estate. The estate wine barrels were so cool to see. We also went into the main estate house where all the historical items are. The servers were closing up shop, but turned the lights back on for us to see everything, so nice of them. Outside, we also went through the maze. It reminded me of a Harry Potter maze because it was so narrow. The maze was small but fun. I love and adore this place and it was a perfect wine tasting experience thanks to Vasili and the staff. I would recommend coming here!

Madison G.

Yelp
Don't hesitate! The bubble room is fun, fancy and has fur coats and hats to try on. Great photo op. We had such a great time!

Jessica E.

Yelp
We kicked off a girls weekend of wine tasting here the evening we arrived, and it was fantastic! Mili took such good care of us--she curated an amazing tasting experience and kept us laughing and smiling during our visit. Buena Vista has some great wine and a gorgeous (and historical) property, and employees like Mili make the tasting experience memorable--fun, informative, and truly delightful. Highly recommend. Thanks, MilI, for such an amazingly fun tasting!

Marcy G.

Yelp
We absolutely LOVE this winery, our favorite one in Sonoma! This is my second time here, and Luke was phenomenal as our wine aficionado. I honestly came here not expecting to buy anything, as I just took my May shipment in the wine club. But when we came for our tasting, Luke made it so fun for us that I bought several more bottles. Buena Vista is lucky to have him! Not to mention how delicious all the wines are! The surroundings are beautiful as well.

Alyssa L.

Yelp
THE JAKE EXPERIENCE If this is your first time or your hundredth time.. Jake is a breath of fresh air. He is so personable. Between the history of the building and his love for the experience it was an amazing encounter. By far our best experience out of many in Napa. If you stop by don't forget to try The Founder and Zin. If you are headed to Beuna Vista ask for Jake.

Mallorie T.

Yelp
10/10/10 ALL AROUND AMAZING!!!! I would say this was much more casual than my previous wine tasting experience in Sonoma. It is super casual ( people are dressed nice ) but none is trying to stuff information about the wine down your throat. The vibe is super chill and laid back which personally I really appreciated. The waiter we had was so kind and let us have a sitting room without extra charge, gave me a switched wine on the tasting list, and everyone in our party got an extra pour!! Absolutely amazing wine, great atmosphere, and great staff!!

Arman Eli P.

Yelp
I definitely and absolutely recommend this winery to anyone who loves wine, history, culture, and hospitality. The tour and tour guide were fantastic! The wines for wine wasting were immaculate! I would go back to this place!

André L.

Yelp
Good selection of cheeses and the service was excellent! I picked the private reserve what includes 4 kinds of wine from Chardonnay to Pinot noir it was an excellent choice. A very good "thank you" to Mili, she was so amazing, very attentive and knows a lot about all the wines.

David W.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience here thanks to Eric Perez. Really enjoyed the Sheriff of Buena Vista wine.

Fatima P.

Yelp
I've been a club member for 1 year+ now and I just cannot get enough of Buena Vista Winery! Their reserve reds and sparkling wines are exquisite. Their grounds are nestled amongst lush redwoods and transport you to a mini vacation. Besides the incredible array of wines and atmosphere, the service is 10 stars! In specific Mili! Mili takes the time to get to know each and every one of her guests and makes them feel right at home. Her warm welcoming, charisma & deep knowledge of Buena Vista wines & history is both impressive & intriguing. She makes the Buena vista experience elevated. Buena Vista Winery is a gem of a place. Make sure to ask for Mili!

Dana S.

Yelp
Ambiance 5/5 Service 6/5 Wines 5/5 Wow! Buena Vista was the highlight of our Sonoma trip. Huge shoutout to our server, Brandon, who was extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly. There was a big difference in quality of service here compared to other wineries. Buena Vista was busy, but Brandon never made us feel rushed and truly provided a white glove service. I made a reservation about 2 weeks ago and arrived on a Saturday around 3pm. I recommend coming to your reservation early if possible to explore the grounds of the first California winery along with a maze and adjacent historical buildings. We came with another couple and each left with 4 bottles. Absolutely loved the tasting experience here.
