Buenos Aires Marriott, a Design Boutique Hotel Buenos Aires, Argentina

"Boasting spa facilities including an indoor pool, Panamericano Buenos Aires offers luxurious accommodation less than 300 metres from the Obelisk and the Colon Opera House. There are 2 restaurants. Free Wi-Fi is provided in the lobby, Celtic Pub and La Luciernaga Restaurant. Fitted with stylish Italian designer furniture, rooms at Buenos Aires Panamericano feature LED TVs and minibars. All of them have wooden floors and large windows. Some of them enjoy a privileged city view. A buffet breakfast is served at La Luciernaga Restaurant, which features classy décor. Completely renovated, the Tomo 1 Restaurant offers regional and international cuisine as well as kosher dishes. Drinks from the Celtic Pub can be enjoyed. Facilities include a fitness centre and a heated pool with sun loungers. Massage sessions can be requested. A gift shop is also available. The 24-hour front desk can secure shuttles to Ezeiza Airport, which is 32.5 km away. Panamericano Buenos Aires is 7.5 km from Jorge Newbery Domestic Airport, and 2.4 km from Retiro bus terminal." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Marriott Downtown Buenos Aires has a very good location and the team is genuinely nice and professional. The rooftop pool is also a highlight and a great place to relax. Unfortunately, the negatives clearly outweigh the positives. The rooms are totally outdated, with old wooden interiors and very worn bathrooms and showers. If you don’t book a room with a view, you’re essentially looking at a wall. The fitness room is another major disappointment: the air conditioning barely works. One unit in the cardio area is running, but the room still becomes extremely hot, and the strength room has only one AC unit that cannot cool the space at all. Training there is uncomfortable and next to impossible. The breakfast is also below expectations and not what you would expect from a Marriott property. All in all, as a loyal Marriott customer for more than two decades, this stay was clearly below Marriott standards. I cannot recommend this hotel.

Our room in this hotel was very spacious. It had a nice alcove with a desk and chair. A partial wall separated the sleeping area from the desk which was good when someone was on their computer at night and the other someone wanted to sleep. The buffet breakfast had lots of choices all very good. Wi-Fi was free, easy to access and fast. There was no dresser in the room, but we tend to just use our suitcases as our storage. The location is wonderful. The Opera house is immediately across the wide boulevard. A few blocks away you can't find the theater district and lots of nice pizza restaurants.

Great Marriott location next to the Obelisco and easy access to major attractions, dining, transit, etc. We were upgraded to the penthouse on arrival. My only critique (not a complaint) is the M club lounge breakfast compared to other international Marriott club lounge breakfasts was a little sparse/lacking. With so many cafes nearby and the hotel restaurant you could certainly find alternatives if you wanted. Would stay here again if we’re back in BA.

We were there for 3 nights. I am a titanium Marriott member. I used a suite upgrade certificate. We got a room the same Size as a standard room but had a wall and a couch and it looked into another building. We asked for a room with a view and they changed it to a standard room but it had a 180 degree view of the mail st. The lobby is gorgeous, lots of marble, very old world. Our room on the 15th floor was tired. The hallway was pathetic. Bad paint scratches in the baseboards and scratches in the wallpaper. They do not do any type of maintenance. The service from the staff varied. I let them know we were celebrating our anniversary and they sent a bottle of champagne to the room. While we were getting shown the room by the bell person we asked about ice. I tipped him and he said he would get it and he never came back. When we checked in I asked if they had a concierge. They said no they did it at the desk. I asked about suggestions for dinner and a tango show. He said he would get back to me and never did. The service in the bar area was horrible. A server could walk by you 10 times over a 20 minute period and never acknowledge you or take your order. A few times I eventually went to the bar and ordered.

This is a rather old hotel – maybe more than 35 years old. According to Uber drivers, it was previously known as Panamericano Buenos Aires. The name change to the Marriot brand was only some years back. We took two rooms, and despite its age, the rooms were comfortable. They have quite a big lounge for use by Club members. The front desk staff were helpful esp Manuel. But breakfast was average. Location is good. My only concern with my stay is really something which is quite incomprehensible, that is, all guests are entitled to only two bottles of water per stay. So, I was given two bottles of water despite staying there for nine nights! For us who travelled from the other side of the globe, this policy is most unreasonable and almost unheard of in other properties, especially when the right to water is a fundamental human right!

The rooms are outdated. The walls really thin, so you hear everything. The air conditioning is really loud. The breakfast tastes horrible. This is, at the moment, no 5 star hotel and not a Marriott as known from other places. Even in the gym, which is on the top and where a lot of heat is constantly coming through the windows, the air conditioning is only partially working. They are doing small renovations but at the moment I would do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. For this price, you find much better options in Buenas Aires nearby. Nevertheless, the hotel is located in the center of the city and many places are reachable in walking distance.

I honestly expected a lot more from a 5 star hotel, especially with the Marriott name. Some of the basics were missing or repeatedly got messed up. I ordered a Mirinda on room service and it came warm, not chilled. I ordered sparkling water and they sent still water. There was also no drinking water kept in the room at all, and even if it is chargeable, it should be available and then added to the bill at checkout. Housekeeping was frustrating. The soap dispenser in the bathroom wasn’t refilled for days even though I kept asking, and at one point they sent shampoo bottles instead of refilling it. It finally got refilled only on the last day when I was checking out. The bathroom also didn’t feel properly clean, and when you shower, water spills out all over because the drainage isn’t good. Service was very slow in general. Simple things took too long to arrive. Even a basic dental kit wasn’t available in the room, and I had to call multiple times to get one. Food was another letdown. There’s no 24/7 food option, which I really expected at this level. Breakfast was very bland too, the vegetables were mushy and the Persian rice tasted bland and possibly stale. A couple of other things that added to the frustration: the minibar fridge was completely empty, there were no laundry bags, and they even misplaced my shirt in laundry (they found it after a few hours, but still). None of these are huge on their own, but when so many “basic” things keep going wrong, it doesn’t feel like a 5 star experience. It’s a shame for the Marriott brand.

Let me start by saying, I’m a Marriott guy, staring in Marriotts all over the world. Hotel was in a great location, right in the heart of Buenos Aires. However, the cleanliness is very poor. After taking a shower, I grabbed a towel and started drying, only to find the towel was heavily soiled. I had to reshower. I did not expect I would have to check the towel before use, especially in this standard of hotel.
