"Set just a 15-minute walk from the irresistibly photogenic town of Banff within the pristine surrounds of Banff National Park, Buffalo Mountain Lodge lives up to every rustic Rocky Mountain vacation fantasy. Deer can even be spotted nibbling on the lawns just outside. Classic cabin style is the order of the day, with the spacious rooms decorated in a soothing range of earthy browns, greens, and mustard yellows. Each room boasts hefty stone fireplaces and baskets piled high with logs. Recent renovations have added flat screens to each room, but the views from the windows—of Mount Rundle and Cascade Mountain—put anything man-made to shame. In fact, don’t even pick up the remote. Throughout the summer, the nine acres of grounds ringed by huge pines, firs, and spruces offer a showstopping display of flowering blossoms, which even the locals come to photograph."

The only downside to this property is the location, otherwise I’d definitely rated it a 5 out of 5. ||It’s just a little too far to walk into Banff downtown. It’s a 5 to 10 minute drive and during summer there are public bus services costing just $2 (cash). ||The room product is fabulous. We stayed in 2 differing room types (lead in and the next level up) - my bad as didn’t realise when I went to extend my stay. Both rooms were large and had huge bathrooms and fab outside decks. Loved the open fireplaces. Nice touch with the Nespresso coffee machines too. ||The hot tub is massive and it was used after a long day of driving Perfect. ||The staff on the front desk were extremely helpful and are a credit to the property. Nothing was too much trouble. ||Overall an outstanding stay in Banff.

We truly enjoyed the Lodge. Food was great. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Rooms were good, not overly large but it was just my husband and I. Some road noise in the rooms by the highway, but it didn't keep us up. The cabins are very well stocked with dishes and good Nespresso coffee. Close to downtown. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful lodge. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was lovely. We stayed in the premier room and the premier plus room. Preferred the premier room except that the shower space was smaller. Both had lovely views and fireplaces. |It’s a decent walk down the hill to town or hike back up it from town. There’s a bus stop across the street and for a couple of dollars you can catch the bus to town. |There are no Ubers in Banff only taxis. Plenty of parking at the station but it does fill up.

Stayed for 6 nights. Room was well equipped if a bit dated but comfortable and cleaned daily. Check in was quick but note they take a $500 credit card deposit on arrival.|Food in restaurant was nice but a bit expensive and service was varied- from excellent with some service to almost rude from others.|Location is good, 10-15min downhill walk to town and $2 bus home with stop right outside resort entrance.|Overall- would recommend as a good spot but a few tweaks to bar service would significantly improve experience

Buffalo Mountain lodge is a combination of great service, accommodation and a peaceful setting . Situated just outside of the town of Banff. The lodge is a beautiful and rustic. The prow restaurant was excellent as well as the service. The staff from the maintenance, housekeeping front desk and waiters were all excellent.|The lodge is a walk from Banff downtown but there is an excellent bus service at the door.. |Banff downtown is not a place you want to drive few parking spaces and lots of traffic||Highly recommend this lodge.

We’ve just returned from a fabulous few days in Banff and can’t recommend Buffalo Mountain Lodge highly enough. The hotel is located outside the busy town center, which turned out to be a huge plus—close enough for convenience, but far enough to enjoy peace and quiet.||Our room was spacious, with a real fireplace, a large bathroom, and a balcony offering stunning views. Despite the size and comfort, it was incredibly quiet—a real retreat.||We had breakfast every morning at The Prow restaurant onsite, which was excellent. Tip: consider ordering from the Sides menu if you prefer smaller portions, as the main breakfast plates were a bit too large for us.||At first, we were a little concerned about the location—being about a mile up a hill from the town center—but this turned out to be no issue at all. There’s a Roam Transit bus stop right outside the lodge. The service was reliable, frequent, and a day ticket cost just CAN$5—great value and super convenient.||All in all, we feel like we struck gold with this hotel: peaceful location, great food, beautiful room, and easy access to downtown Banff. Perfect!

Google
We recently stayed in Buffalo Mountain Lodge, for 7 nights. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, the food in the Prow was great when we ate there, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The servers were really friendly. The rooms were perfect, good shower, coffee machine and the most comfortable bed. Hot Tub was great after hiking and roam bus is really convenient directly across from the lodge. We had one issue with our room and it’s was dealt with very professionally leaving us happy with the outcome. Our only issue in 7 nights was a receptionist who checked us in and out, lacked the service and hospitality we have been giving everywhere so far on our travels of BC and Alberta. Overall we definitely would recommend BML and give it a 8/10. K & M

From the moment we walked in we felt welcome! We were upgraded upon arrival and were absolutely thrilled with our room! We came to Banff to get married and so it was the perfect way to start our trip! The beds and pillows are so comfy, the views are amazing, the bathroom was huge with great lighting, and the real fireplaces are so cozy! We also lucked out and had a balcony with an amazing view of the mountains. We loved our stay at Buffalo Mountain Lodge!!

Yelp
We would rate it as a 3.5. The thing is that there really isn't much value in Banff. Everything is either old and run down or ultra expensive. We thought about staying at the Peaks but it was over 700 dollars a night. Buffalo Mountain Inn is probably one of the better deals in Banff, especially at the last minute (which we were after the tragedy in Jasper). The walls are paper thin and you can head your neighbors talking at night and the AC is non existent. The maids forgot to give us soap or refill the nespresso. However the check in process was great, the room was refurbished and clean and we were right up through hill from downtown along a very scenic road. Again, unless you want to dish out serious money while you are gone all day hiking, this is probably the value you will have to settle with if you don't want to stay in Canmore. It's tough because the value is in Canmore but Banff is a better town over all.

Yelp
My stay at Buffalo Mountain Lodge was overall delightful. The hot tub was a perfect way to relax after a long day of hiking, and the restaurant offered a sophisticated menu with delicious options, including game meat and local fish. Check-in was efficient and friendly, and the room was cozy with a lovely fireplace. The only downside was the lack of sound insulation. We could hear all the footsteps and noises from the family above. However, despite this minor inconvenience, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and I would definitely recommend the lodge to others.

Yelp
Cute, mountain village feeling as you drive up to the lodge. Cute, clean room. You can use the fireplace if you like. We stayed in the bottom unit with our children. The only downside was lots of stomping in the upstairs room in the mornings though :( We ordered pizza in for two nights as we were too tired to go out. Great place for couples, group of friends, & families. We ate at the restaurant - it was great and we liked our server! She was a hit with our kids!

Yelp
We went to BML for two nights for our anniversary. Beautiful lodge and was nicely decorated for Christmas. Rooms are large and warm. Staff is friendly. Outdoor jacuzzi was awesome. I'm sure the location will be even better when the construction is all done, but for now there were construction fences everywhere which took away from the ambiance unfortunately. The room was beautiful but the fireplace area is a little cramped with the chairs and table. The bathroom features were also a little wonky and the shower door was difficult to shut. The sink handle was also very loose and we worried it may fall off. The restaurant in the lodge was good and had a hearty breakfast. Location is a little far from the town of Banff, but if you're open to the remoteness, it's beautiful. Very very short drive into town. We would stay agaib

Yelp
I have been coming here since a kid (30 years). The rooms haven't changed really, they have added some, but not really. The lodge was old and suited the place. I hadn't stayed in about 5 years, and recently came back. The lodge has been redone. The lodge now looks like a Starbucks, its beyond terrible. The music in the lodge is also from Starbucks. If I shared the playlist you'd laugh. The check in process is completely broken, and our room was not available until way past checkin. The staff was not attentive at all in informing us when we might have our room. The Restaurant was closed for "technical issues" so that was off the table. It used to be a good place to eat, but who knows. I will not be coming back again. Sad.

Yelp
Very cozy atmosphere with delicious food. I came here with two other foodie friends, we were not disappointed. Our favorite: lamb shank. Wine selection was better than most. The steak was perfectly cooked medium-rare. One of our favorite meals this week!

Yelp
Unluckily just stayed here for 1 night. You get exactly what it says and much more !! The rooms, staff and facilities are excellent and it is extremely difficult to find fault with anything. The staff is courteous and friendly. Upon arrival we were quickly checked in. Unlike other hotels, these are more like condos spread across the property. Our room was on the first floor with a good view. I was super excited to see that the room had a traditional fire place with plenty of wood stocked and they offer more free woods and other things needed. The wi-fi connection was excellent .. The room has a classic rusty looks and decor(Which I loved) & each room has a lovely balcony as well with a view ! The downtown is roughly 15 mins walk and they even offer free shuttle service ! I was sad that we did not have enough time to enjoy their hot tub ! The rates were pretty decent for such a lovely place. All the hotel staff whom we encountered were very helpful with pleasing personality. One could feel that they were here to make your trip a comfortable and memorable one.We were having some issues with getting the fire going (we are not used to lightening up a fireplace, I would rather say we lack the expertise) and called up the front desk. Within minutes an attendant came by taught us how to get the fire going. He was very patient and helpful. I would definitely would like to come back and experience their great guest service along with their nice facility. If you want great accommodation, exceptionally friendly and helpful staff plus excellent facilities then look no further.

Yelp
It was our second stay at Buffalo mountain lodge and once again exceeded all expectations. It began with a request to Jack and asking for a second lounge chair in front of the cozy fireplace. Jack did not only get us a second chair but went above and beyond and left us a little surprise on the fireplace mantle. Treats for our dog and another one being delicious jams. Our check in with Natalie and any requests during our stay was vetted with professionalism, kindness and the utmost attention to detail. Natalie always had a smile under her mask and a kindness that was appreciated. If she was not busy she always greeted us and asked how our stay was. Very kind soul. We spent one afternoon at the restaurant the Prow and enjoyed our outstanding service from Haley. My girlfriend request a hot toddie which was not on the menu, however Haley whipped up an incredible tasting drink. It was her first one that she had ever made and it was the best one my girlfriend ever had. It was awesome. Haley recommended trying out their specialty cocktails and we highly recommend anyone that stays there do the same. We had Christmas dinner at the Prow as well and was not disappointed. It was nice seeing Kristian again. He pays attention to detail and made sure all patrons receive exceptional service. He is a pleasure to talk too and a very caring thoughtful person that enjoys his job but more importantly wants to make sure you have an enjoyable time at the restaurant. We have been to many different places in Banff and feel this one is a gem to stay at as the staff, accommodations and ambiance in the mountains are memorable Thank you Andy and Sam

Yelp
I stayed here for 4 nights with my boyfriend and it was the best experience. I looked at probably 20 different places to stay and we absolutely made the right choice. Beautiful rustic lodge with clean rooms and facilities. So romantic, too! Lovely wood burning fireplace. Amazingly helpful staff, great food, and a convenient shuttle. Our only problem was booking too short of a stay here! Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
I've been coming here for two decades and enjoying the food and service, so this is a difficult review to write. But the Lodge has lost its service strengths, and is mediocre at best. But first, it's the overwhelming colonialist mind set that hits you as soon as you walk in. Kitschy pillows everywhere depict the same indigenous chief like the totemization seen at white kid music fests. Even the First Nations art on the walls is not interpreted. This once design forward restaurant is dealing in colonized portrayals and that's enough to keep me away. Problems in service include lack of attention to detail. Had to ask for napkins and cutlery, plates not fully removed before bill was served, no one asked about dessert or refilling drinks. Washroom was dirty and doors in disrepair and it smelled. The food was okay but what I could find in a diner for half the price. This $90 lunch was a bust for us three, and we will not be back until we know these issues have been addressed.

Yelp
Our stay here was nice, no real complains except that it ended up being a very different kind of facility than we pictured. Unlike the other two this company owns, this place feels more like a traditional cluster of ski-bum apartments, while we'd pictured being in a grand old lodge. Obviously there are benefits to not being in the old building we'd pictured (it was fairly quiet), We ate at the restaurant twice and really liked it. Zac (server) was especially excellent. In the end, the rates they charge just don't make sense given the non-specialness of the place. You're right across the street from a slightly less glamorous place that charges $99/night. Our $1k for 3 nights stung a little. But for a lower price, it'd definitely be worth returning.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! Its romantical and cozy. Tub for two! Nice getaway for you and the significant other.

Yelp
The Buffalo Mountain Lodge is located an easy drive or walk away from downtown Banff along Tunnel Mountain Drive. The Company that owns this property, also operates the Deer Lodge in Lake Louise and the Emerald Lake Lodge near Yoho National Park (BC). This is a handsome property with a Main Lodge that includes an excellent restaurant and very nice acccomodations in other surrounding buildings. The Main Lodge is of square timber, post and beam construction, and has high open ceilings. There is also a huge stone fireplace, conference rooms, indoor recreation area, steam room and an outdoor hot tub. I thorougly enjoyed my stay here.

Yelp
Stayed for 1 night; wish it was longer. I would have loved to enjoy all that this place has to offer. Charming, clean, spacious rooms with a rustic decor. Romantic. King bed was very comfortable. Would book with them again.

Yelp
Charming and rustic-modern lodge with wood-burning fireplaces in the rooms and top-tier service. Pros: -Hot hottub -Great food -Quick and friendly staff -Free shuttle (personal driver) to and from town -Wood burning fireplace in room with unlimited free wood -Bag storage on check-out Cons -Gym needs improvement -Cleanliness of rooms could improve (e.g. Dusty radiators)

Yelp
I made a reservation in November 2019 for July 5, 2020. Then COVID hit and I had to cancel trip. All the other hotels gave deposit refunds immediately except for Buffalo Mountain Lodge who refused to do anything. Unbelievable.

Yelp
This was out first time staying here. The premier rooms are very quaint with a wood burning fireplace. All the wood you want is stacked outside the doors of every two rooms. My only complaint is the bedding and pillows that were used. After the second night I requested better pillows which were much better. It is a nice 20-25 minute downhill walk to the downtown area if you like and they have a free shuttle back if you you choose. Overall very nice place to stay.

Yelp
No shuttle on weekends to your ski bus. Terrain is hilly and icy and access to all units is outdoors so not very good for seniors. Parking is not guaranteed as we had to park on the street Saturday. Place is a little worn. Otherwise for younger folks it has a nice main lodge with fireplace, rooms have down duvets and wood fireplaces. Has a restaurant. They need a cheese and cracker appetizer in the lounge for $15 as their $29 meat appie does not appeal to all. In a wooded setting out of the way on tunnel road. Good for couples. Good luck trying to get the fire in your fireplace going!

Yelp
Love this place. Stayed the last 2 years. Wonderful rooms. Great restaurant and bar. Shuttle into town. It is so peaceful here and I love the fireplace. Staff makes a ready to burn fire for you everyday. It's a 20 min walk into bann too.

Yelp
Rooms here seem to run 25%-50% more than at other well-reviewed Banff lodgings, but you mostly get what you pay for. We splurged on a "premier" room - we booked late for a holiday weekend, so had few choices - and were glad we did: This got us a top-floor room with vaulted ceilings. The property is up Tunnel Mountain Road from Banff townsite, in a basically quiet setting that's secluded from Banff Ave.'s clamor. (It's in a cluster with the Douglas Fir Resort, Tunnel Mtn. Resort, and a hostel.) Designed as a luxurious "mountain lodge" indeed, the decor is a modern take on Northwest Arts-and-Crafts: post-and-beam framing, knotty-pine paneling, diamond windows and accents, fireplaces, porches with mountain views, and inuksuks placed around the grounds. Our main room felt really welcoming. The bathroom was huge, and sumptuous, with a clawfoot tub. The outdoor hot tub was hot and glorious, although its jets somehow remained broken throughout our stay. It's on a placidly lit patio, with nice long summer hours. The lobby is woody, gently lit, and elegant. The onsite restaurant is pricey, so we grazed on side dishes and happy-hour drink specials, and mostly ate elsewhere. Elsewhere on the grounds, we do recommend the Buffalo Mtn. Cafe: It had tasty coffee, with reasonably priced pastries, panini, and packaged salads that were ready to grab and go. I'm knocking off a point for the laid-back staff attitude. Many of the front-desk and bar staff were very pleasant and helpful (despite limited local knowledge). But the buildings-and-grounds crew seemed rather sullen, and the results showed: Our welcome mat was trashed. There was rust on some bathroom fittings. And we were served a few glasses and cups that never would have passed inspection when I washed dishes in Banff, years ago. These are minor things, but they wouldn't happen in a decent chain motel, and they definitely shouldn't happen at multiples of chain-motel rates. Also, on our first night, there was extended, loud, smoking/drinking/carousing at what turned out to be the staff dorm. And on our last night, there was a rowdy, drunken wedding reception in some central buildings. Luckily, our room was at the property's outside corner, so we were buffered from all of this.

Yelp
Ooh the Buffalo, see how it grazes? So furry....so large....a seemingly gregarious bovine with a shaggy mane and shiny pretty black horns. But don't be fooled, the Buffalo is highly unpredictable and therefore dangerous to humans - it has never been domesticated.........and neither has Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Well, that is if you stay in their "Lodge Room". The BF (no, that's not short for buffalo) and I rented a room at Buffalo Mountain Lodge through a crazy little website called hotels.com. It promised a holiday promotional rate of $125 for a room regularly priced at $250 (or so it seemed to lead visitors to believe). Who could have passed up that deal?! We wish we would have. When we arrived in mid December, presents in tow (this was our own little family-free Christmas get-away) we checked in at the front desk with a rather snarky male who asked us if we'd like to "upgrade". Thinking we already had a decent room at a good price, we wondered "upgrade to what?" He replied that we were in a standard room and we could upgrade if we so chose to. We explained what we were expecting and what we had purchased off hotels.com to which he replied "Do you have proof of that?". One would assume a reservation done through hotels.com would be "proof" and carry all of the necessary information, but apparently not for this bison! We were a bit perplexed but declined the upgrade. We pulled up to our lodge door, noticing that there was no one else staying at BML, not a soul! Perfect, it'll be a nice quiet few days of relaxation, wine and a cozy fire place. Our room was a standard room. Disappointed, we tried to make the best of it and settled in. Enjoyed our evening, without the jacuzzi tub and heated floors that the premium rooms boasted. After the distraction of wine, the out door hot tub (the only thing we enjoyed here) and gifts dwindled, the problems started to appear; 1. Because the room was so small, the fire place seemed to heat the room up so much that we needed to open the window, except we couldn't...because the window was broken. So we had to open the door to our lanai which had empty beer cans strewn about. Nice touch. 2. We couldn't put the fire out because the thermostat didn't work. 3. The TILE floors in our first level room were SO freezing cold we couldn't walk on them. We eventually had to strategically place towels in path way shapes. Laughable. 4. The walls were paper thin. Even though BML was deserted, the one other couple that checked in after us happened to be placed right beside us. We could hear them...all night. Although they were just conversing, we could hear them through the paper thin walls. I'll never forget her voice at 3am "how now brown cow". Yes, she actually said that. Numerous times. And I heard it. Through the wall. (BML would rather make it more convenient for their cleaning staff to clean rooms by putting the only two guests right beside each other than give the guests a little bit of space during a slow week to enjoy their stay in peace.) 5. Because the walls were so thin, we actually could hear the gentleman's urine splashing into the toilet. How tranquil. Did I have to go into detail? Yes. 6. The pillows were so soft that when you lay your head down the pillow actually wrapped around to your face and smothered you. No lie. We were up til 3 or 4 in the morning, woke up, jumped in a shower borrowed from munchkin land and decided that we'd rather go home and be comfortable than stay here one more night. Even though we had paid for another night. This room was not worth $50, let alone the $125 we paid OR the regular price they charge $179!! OR the $250 BML or hotels.com illustrated. We didn't experience the BML restaurants as we couldn't fathom another disappointment even though we were told they were good. We went into town for a nice dinner. Not exactly a "side step" to get to the city either as BML's website claims. We checked-out that afternoon. The concierge questioned why we were checking out early, to which I explained to her all of what I just explained above and her response was "Oh, okay. Well you are free to go." We went home, lit my boyfriends couch on fire and toasted marshmallows. We were having a nice evening, Buffalo's be damned! Since this incident, BML did in fact contact us and apologize. Sent us a credit for a premium room and asked us to come back. So for that, they are receiving 2 stars instead of 1 star. That shack "lodge room" really deserves 1 star. If you are going to stay here, make sure you go for the premium and make sure you have "proof". Now if you'll excuse me, it's Buffalo Week on National Geographic.

Yelp
We stayed here for one night the day before new years eve. The hotel was worth every penny. It is located on tunnel mountain Rd right next too the Douglas Fir where we have stayed on numerous occasions. The check in desk is small so it could be slow if a few people checked in at once. There are two restaurants in the hotel. They have a large outdoor hot tub which feels amazing in the winter. They also have a steam room and indoor change rooms. Each room has a fire place and many rooms have claw foot tubs. Our room had a claw foot tub in it. I had a bath after we got back from the outdoor hot tub. The tub only fills about a third full and the water doesn't get very hot so don't add cold. Still it's big enough for two people to sit in. Our fireplace made Colin happy. They put kindling, paper, a few pieces of wood and a box of matches in the fireplace for you. There is a large pile of wood outside your room. Our fire alarm went off a few times even though it was not smoky. If you plug in the fan in your closet and set it to low that seems to stop the alarm and makes the room evenly heated. The balcony off our room had a beautiful view of the mountains and the hotel is a short drive from main street but far enough to be private and quiet. We ordered room service from the restaurant and fifteen mins later a delicious plate of meats were driven to our door. You can order room service till ten pm. The biggest complaint I would have is about the parking. There is not enough parking for each room. When we got back from dinner we had to park a little away from our room. If you pay for a hotel room you should either have underground parking or be able to park in front of your room. Out of all the places I have stayed in Banff this was one of the best. The price was reasonable and the room was nice.

Yelp
The chef at the restaurant - the Sleeping Buffalo - specializes in game. This was one of 4 rocky mountain cuisine restaurants that we tried in Banff, and it was our favorite. The wine list is outstanding. And their wines pair perfectly with their food. We had either game platters or fondue that came with cured game at several restaurants, all with excellent cured game meats. But this cured game platter excelled in no small part because of the unique pickled melon and dried cranberry fruit relishes. They perfectly complemented and magnified the flavor of the cured meats and our old vine shiraz. Our waitress told me that they sold the relishes, and I thought about buying some, but decided I wouldn't have enough room in our efficiently packed suitcases. Now I wish I'd bought some and just shipped it to myself. Maybe I can order it from them... The restaurant apparently works with particular ranches/farms to have a steady supply of excellent quality fresh game, or at least our hotel concierge told us something vaguely to that effect, I think. We had elk carpaccio (usually a first course, but the game platter was filling) and caribou medallions, all expertly prepared. I didn't think I was still hungry, but I could not stop eating after I tested a spoonful of the warm-melty-dark-chocolaty lava cake, which we paired with a well-crafted Canadian ice wine. The decor was inoffensive wilderness lodge style, focused on a cozy stone fireplace. The chairs were easy and inviting, and we had a pleasant (nothing impressive - just pleasant) view from the window next to our table. The whole experience was perfect for relaxing and chatting after a day of hiking.

Yelp
This is the second time we stay at bml. We chose a premier room again on the upper floor for the vaulted wood ceilings. This lodge is in a great location with mountain views all around. Good trails behind it too. Service was very quick and friendly. Some rooms need some maintenance on little details like the faucet missing handle cap for example. Fireplace screen door was mangled and torn...Just some small stuff like that and nothing major. Make sure to visit the sleeping buffalo restaurant for an amazing meal.

Yelp
A fairly brief menu of inventive dishes, focused heavily on meats complimented with interesting sides. The wine list is comprehensive. The service was alright - there was some confusion with our reservation, but once that was sorted out the staff were flexible and helpful. The space is very mountain-y; big wood beams and high ceilings. And, like all things in Banff, the view out the window and drive to get to the restaurant are fantastic!

Beth K.

Yelp
The lodge sounded very cozy and rustic. It is several two story buildings with about 10 rooms each. It is a ways from downtown. There is a free shuttle (car). Schedule in advance; we tried calling from downtown and repeatedly got recordings. Our room smelled very strongly of smoke--probably too many novice fire-starters. There was a fireplace and a door to a small balcony. It was in the 50's Fahrenheit, so we didn't need a fire. The decor was definitely older. The cafe is open til' 4:00 pm. It has a variety of foods. The restaurant seemed pricey. There are many restaurants in town.

Yelp
Stayed here overnight for our engagement and it did not disappoint! It was warm and gorgeous. They had all their Christmas decor up and it was sooo pretty! Also the staff here are some of the friendliest I've ever dealt with. I'm already planning our next stay here with our kids this time because they would also love it. It's not too far from downtown but also tucked away up on the mountain . Perfect location is you ask me!!!!

Would not recommend this location to anyone!!! Rooms were disgusting, toilet cracked! Drains FULL of hair, TV remote did not work, heaters were hanging off the wall!! fireplace had no guard, was cautious to use due to how dirty it looked, room smelled like an ASHTRAY, was the most disgusting room I have ever paid for, price was amazingly a waste of money. Customer service was awful, they were so irritated I bothered them!!! To check in. When I showed my gift certificates my service got even worse!! Can't figure out where the rooms on the website are because our room was not at all what we assumed we had booked! Would not recommend this location to anyone.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE! I made the mistake of wandering upon this place while staying at the hostel nearby (HI-Alpine Center). The staff was absolutely unhelpful, rather, they were covetous of the hostel and antagonized me as I tried to decide whether I should stay here, even though I already had a booking at the hostel. I will NEVER book here after the experience I had with their accomadtion staff. NOT FRIENDLY. TRAVELERS BEWARE!!!

Yelp
we were seeking a unique place for our daughter's "away wedding." after performing our due diligence at some of the areas 5 star establishments , we met with Aiden Brown at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Aiden's level of interest, expertise, and service far exceeded any of encounters at the other possible venues. Aiden displayed both a high level of competence and sincere interest in making our wedding something special and memorable. she is more than highly recommended.

Yelp
Convenient location to Banff amenities. Quiet setting. Rooms were outdated, and very dark. Light bulbs burned out and quite unclean and dusty. We think we may have gotten bed bug bites here or from Deer Lodge in Lake Louise. Nice coffee shop at bottom of hill. Decent food.

Yelp
Loved the stay! We spent 6 lovely nights in this cozy and hospitable lodge. The rooms were adorable, the fireplace a must (but great additional but note - this is one of the driest towns I've ever been to and I grew up in CO, so the fireplace only adds to it - bring a humidifier!). The restaurant was lovely as was the staff. We tried a bunch of different things - don't miss the Caribou. This, coming from a woman who has only eaten red meat twice in the last 20 years. The quality is beyond what we have in America, so clean and healthy thanks to their farm-raised game. The hot tub was intimidating given the -25'c temp but believe it or not it was not that hard to make it happen and was so worth it. I wish they had shipping in the Cafe so I could have sent a bunch of the frozen meats back with me. A bit far from town which we knew but thought we could walk. Given the temps and huge hill, we used their free shuttle or drove ourselves. But turned out to be a blessing in disguise to help us relax "in" more. Thanks for the hospitality and joy.

Yelp
Nice rooms overall and decent food in both restaurants but they seem to have a problem with the heat. Our room is about 31C/88F at 9 pm and the heat has never been on for the last day, all the windows are open, we have a fan in the window blowing cold air in and the vent fan in the bathroom pulling air out. The daytime high was around 25C and the night time is around 8C and our fans have been running for 24 hours. The hotel refuses to acknowledge that the heat is on in the middle of summer despite the thermostats set as low as possible. It makes it pretty hard to sleep.

Yelp
Awesome snowy getaway. I love the in room fireplaces preset for easy lighting. Also plenty of wood right outside for big, hot fires. Rooms are smaller and strange configuration, but the staff is really friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Good if you want to stay indoors. Too far from town (we had to drive down). Our view was blocked by the trees, couldn't see the mountain. And, we spent most of our time was spent away from the lodge. We stayed here for 3 days in summer. Rooms are nice, the bathroom is gorgeous with a large old-time tub. The fireplace in our room almost makes the room worth the cost - it was all set up with the log and kindling, waiting for us to just throw in a match. No experience or effort was necessary. The view was not that great. The rooms are surrounded by trees, which is nice, but they blocked all the view. We could barely see the sky, let alone the tunnel mountain. The staff at the desk was extremely helpful in giving travel advice. Exceptionally friendly and always willing to help. Say hi to the bald guy for me. All in all, if you are an outdoorsy person, or someone who wants to experience the town, this may not serve you well. It was not for me. More suited for those who like lounging around or on a honeymoon of sorts.

Yelp
I have stayed there many times over the years but this last visit was a bad experience. Booked directly with the hotel the day before our stay. They neglected to tell us that they had a flood, the hot tub, fitness area, sauna all were out of commission. The room had poor heat (they had a plug in heater and it did little to warm the room.) There was 1 match to start a fire with, hardly any toilet paper on the roll with no spare roll and even the tissue dispenser had only 2 tissues in it! There are a lot of options at the same price point in Banff, you may wish to stay elsewhere until they improve their standards. Very disappointed. It used to be my hotel of choice when in Banff.

Yelp
Stayed here 3 nights for a family wedding on new years eve. The hotel provided well for the reception however they could have done a better job in accommodating the guests. We did not get maid service, not that they didn't try but the timing was pathetic. Apparently you only get one chance to have your room cleaned. The first day they showed up at 4:45 when we were back at the room getting ready to go to the reception and asked them to come back after we left, they didn't. The next day after the wedding they were there in the morning a little early (travelling with a teenager), at least we managed to get some clean towels. They never came back. Their lack of attention to cleaning was evident in the sidewalks. I was actually dissappointed that the staff placed so many of the guests in the upper level suites especially when they did not maintain the walkways and keep the stairs clear of ice. it's a nice place to stay and get away but if you are planning any formal outings make sure you get a main level room.
