8 Amazing Canoe Trips in the United States | Travel + Leisure

"The beautiful Buffalo River passes through the Ozark Mountains and traverses alongside giant bluffs as it runs through quiet pools and tumbling rapids on its way to the White River. Once you reach the confluence, make sure to dip a toe to feel the distinction between the typically cooler White River and the warmer Buffalo waters. This trip can be as short as an afternoon paddle or as long as a multiday journey on the Buffalo River’s 153 miles — either way, you’ll want to keep your fishing gear on hand for the river’s renowned smallmouth bass fishing." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. Gorgeous place, even on a rainy February day. We stopped by to do some hiking. The river, the stone walls, the whole area is amazing

Beautiful area with plenty of recreational activities to participate in. Hiking, kayaking, river floating, and scenic drives all with gorgeous views to take in along the way. I came during a very dry time and cannot wait to return when there is more water.

We live within 20 minutes of South Maumee & love this part of the Buffalo River. So peaceful & quiet with free camping sites with picnic tables, fire pit, bathroom but no showers. Just a minutes from Marshall. Heaven on earth ❤️

A beautiful river with lots of hiking, kayaking, trails, and exploration! The river has some beautiful waterfalls and other nature that were really pretty. Definitely worth checking out. There are a few companies that offer kayaking and places to stay. There are a couple of waterfalls along the river and one waterfall that is pretty challenging to get to- but well worth it! Bring you a flashlight and a raincoat!

Beautiful, relaxing, and plenty of space to get your own little area even when crowded. The water is usually a little on the colder side until first of June but feels perfect once summer really sets in. Great to float as well, kid friendly.

Floated 26 miles camping on ideal sand bars. River was a little low but really only had to drag once. Epic bluffs and opportunities to see myriad wildlife species. Can't wait for another opportunity to float when the river is a little higher and faster moving, but no complaints at all!

We stopped off here on a whim and we were so glad that we did! The trail wove through woodland and creek habitat and was so peaceful and quiet. The park is very well maintained and the visitor center ranger was very kind and helpful
