We had an incredible stay in the deluxe cabin with our kiddo and dog. The cabin was spacious for our needs however I would caution that the second room upstairs is accessible by a ladder which might be tough to manage for kids under 5/6. We had a great view of the mountains from our balcony and overall relaxed so much during our trip. Probably one of my favorite cabins we stayed in yet. The campground itself is very new, clean, and well-maintained. It is located right on the edge of town so we were able to reach food/grocery within 5 or so minutes and custer state park ~15 minutes. Around the campground, we saw so much staff ensuring it was clean and well-appointed. The pool and hot tub were very clean as well and the playground was very fun for young kids. Nights were quiet and the curfew was very much respected. We can't wait to make our way back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our family of three had a fantastic stay at Buffalo Ridge Camp Resort in Cabin 3! The cabin was the perfect size for us and was impressively built—my very picky husband, who builds homes for a living, was thoroughly impressed with the quality. It was stocked with everything we needed. The resort amenities were excellent, with pools, a hot tub, and a pool bar for refreshing drinks. The check in staff were great and very helpful. The grounds were meticulously maintained, providing a peaceful environment to unwind and soak in the great outdoors. We had such a wonderful experience and can't wait to return and try out a treehouse next time. Highly recommended!

Google
We stayed at this campground with our 3 girls last August and it was a really nice and well kept place! We ended up staying in a tepee and that was one of the kids' most memorable moments from the trip as it was so unique! It rained/stormed that night as well but we stayed completely dry in the tepee! The grounds were well kept and there was a really nice clubhouse area with a pool and hot tub. We only stayed one night but the kids were wanting to stay more. Would definitely recommend! They also have areas for campers and some cool cabin/treehouse type structures to rent as well.

Google
Great location, beautiful newer campground. Laundry options were nice, and the showers and restrooms were clean and well kept. Hookups were nice and sites were big enough. There could be a little more room, our dump tube was pretty close to the neighbors fire ring. Not uncommon today. The pool and hot tub were great! I'd definitely stay here again! The camp store was well stocked and had plenty of options. It's also very close to Custer and the options there.

Google
We had a wonderful stay. We had 25 of us and each family was able to find somewhere to sleep with their own comfort level. Kids loved the playground and pool. We stayed in Calamity Jane log cabin and it was perfect for our family of 4. 10pm “curfew” was very much respected throughout the resort. I highly recommend for big family gatherings.

Google
Traveling with our daughter and her family we have two sites side by side near the pool and playground. The view is phenomenal. Staying here midweek and it’s very quiet. Grounds and facilities are impeccable. Staff is friendly. Right next to Custer yet no road noise. We will return!

Google
This place is great. It is a real professional business operation. The facilities are clean and ready to go. They have space for tents, teepee, small cabins, glamping tents, camper spots, and even small homes in which you could stay. The pool area is well maintained. The pool is heated by a significant solar collection system on the roof of the pool building. The shop in the main building has a wide variety of items that can enhance your vacation time there. There are laundry facilities in at least two of the bathroom buildings. The showers are clean and well maintained. We stay here twice over the summer and didn't have any trouble either time. You can almost have the place to yourself if you include time during the week.

Google
Excellent! Heated pool & hot tub were perfect & open after Labor Day. Grounds were well taken care of & RV sites were very nice. Location was perfect for our needs. Saw nothing lacking. Highly recommend.

Yelp
In the heart of the Badlands you'll find Buffalo Ridge Camp resort where you can go from rustic tent camping, teepee camping, cabins, trailers and the ultimate in glamping camping with the ultimate in RV's. This trip was a boys trip and getting back to basics. We tent camped and occupied campsite #1 that offered the shade of a lone needled tree and a fire pit. The site was clean and well manicured with a good distance away from other campers. Two pools, one for adults, the other children and a hot tub. Ten shower/restrooms that have laundry and a station outside for washing dishes. Overall a very nice campground. My only critique is a little more attention to the restrooms as the garbage was often overflowing. I truly appreciate when a business responds to a review/critique and takes steps measures to make things better. For that, I'm adding a star .

Yelp
Oh my goodness!! This resort is amazing. All the facilities are spotless and the staff is great. Would Highly recommend this spot to camp and enjoy the outdoors.

Yelp
We arrived in the afternoon in an RV with our grandchildren. The pool was great. The TP was clean even though it was close to the road and we could hear some traffic. The fire pit was great and we had dinner outside on the picnic table. We loved the location. It was easy to get to. The check-in staff was awesome. We washed laundry and the washer and dryers were in great working order. They had a fabulous playground for the kids.

Marge A.

Yelp
Nice park. Landscaping kept up nicely. Most sites have decent room. Ridicules that you can't select your site when making a reservation far in advance. Laundry just ok. Still have quarter machines but they don't put changers in laundry rooms causing you to go all the way into the office, seems real silly.

Yelp
Beautiful and CLEAN resort! Our glamping tent was so comfortable - it included electricity and a fridge! It was fun to explore on our trip then return to jump in the pool and relax in the hot tub. Showers are individual and private - again very clean. Cherry on top- order food and drink poolside & clubhouse sold ice and other necessities! We felt completely taken care of! 10/10

Yelp
First off the place has undeniably great views. We had our two pups with us so we walked the property a few times. It's only 20 min from all the key stuff to see in the area The cabin was super cute. The bed was extremely comfy and one morning I woke to 3 deer eating breakfast outside our bedroom window which was a great way to start the day. The bathroom and tub were perfect size. My husband made use of the kitchenette are and the fire pit. We traveled with a pizza stone and we were able to make pizzas over the fire pit. The staff was very nice and brought us a grate because our fire pit didn't already have one. We didn't use the pool but it was open until 10 for adults so you can swim under the stairs. Lastly we did some shopping at the store and the stuff is a bit pricy but super cute.

Yelp
Clean, large spaces. Well maintained grounds. Great location right in Custer yet doesn't feel that way. Close to everything. Nice staff. Only ask is for more affordable rates. Almost $100 per night is high.

Yelp
We stayed two nights in one of the teepees. Should have stayed more, we loved it so much! There was a queen and a twin bed. Linens and fire pit were provided. There was a small dresser, lamps and one electric outlet. There are many options for bathrooms and laundry. All close by. Other reviews mentioned it was loud due to the highway close but we didn't find that to be the case. It was very peaceful. The teepees are next to the store, where you can get free, coffee, hot chocolate, tea and popcorn. Everyone in the store was very nice and provided a lot of information on sores in the area. The pools were spotless and had a great view. This was the nicest campground we have ever stayed at. Great job to all!

Yelp
Buffalo Ridge Camp Resort in Custer, SD is a great campground with choices for all kinds of travel. RV, cabins, glamming tents, and tee pees. We stayed in a tee pee for the experience. Unfortunately the weather turned out much colder than expected after a lot of rain this week. Even with a small floor heater it got down to 49 degrees in the tee pee. We brought extra blankets and enjoyed the experience. It was clean and comfortable. The bath house is clean and close. They have a huge playground, two pools, and a hot tub.

Nicole D.

Yelp
We stayed in one of the tree houses. It was a fun experience. Very cute and private. Extremely clean campground.

Yelp
Upon arrival to Buffalo Ridge Resort we learned that the jack on the camper had failed. Alex went above and beyond his job scope to help us figure out a temporary fix, he saved the day for us! The campground is great! Well located, very clean, shower rooms are wonderful, kids love the pool and the park.

G D.

Yelp
We looked into a variety of accommodations for our recent stay in Custer and I couldn't be more thrilled that we chose Buffalo Ridge! We stayed in a luxury cabin but they have lots of other options at a variety of price points. We were there before high season started and were lucky to get to peek at the canvas platform tents, teepees and new treehouses! They all look so cute and cozy! Beds were very comfortable and our cabin was super clean. It was too chilly to use the pool but it looked very inviting. Since we weren't cooking our meals, we didn't take advantage of those types of items in the general store but did buy some really cute jewelry! The staff was friendly and helpful. They definitely wanted to make sure our visit was amazing! I have already recommended to friends and family.

Yelp
This place was great! It is a beautiful place, many different types of camping options. Staff was friendly, and helpful. Place was clean, great showers and laundry facilities, and we had a large deck out front of our spot. Would recommend this place.

Yelp
The resort is a perfect central location for exploring Custer State Park and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Our family recently stayed in a luxury wedge cabin. These cabins sit at the back of the property so they feel more secluded than the RV and tenting spots. The cabin was new and was outfitted with comfortable furnishings and linens. We enjoyed the fire pit, the outdoor patio, and having our own bathroom. The property is well maintained and our kids loved the playground and riding their bikes all around. There is a pool being completed now which looks like it will be the perfect addition to the property. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The store has essentials including firewood and ice with also other items for purchase. We definitely plan on returning.

Yelp
The resort is absolutely PHENOMENAL! We just finished our cross-country trip and this place was ONE HUNDRED percent my family's favorite stop. Not to mention the attractions nearby like Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. You could not find a better place situated in the heart of Custer, perfect distance to the State Park too! The staff was just SO nice to show our family the nearest and best hiking spots, and where to go for fishing too. I cannot stress how NICE of a resort this is, the pool area is the nicest in the country and the field for our dog was spectacular. My family will definitely be coming back for cabin spots and RV spaces year and year. THANK YOU!

Yelp
Amazing place We rented the king teepee It was even better than we thought it would be

Yelp
Absolutely loved staying the night at Buffalo Ridge! We were upgraded to a family cabin because it was our honeymoon night and the customer rep understood our desire for a wonderful evening together and the cabin SURPASSED our desire, we will return again and again!!! Five Star Accommodations and excellent for families!!! Don't pass up the chance to stay!!

Ron S.

Yelp
Three stars is a little high, but two were a little too low. Gripes: a $100+ nightly rate for a gravel site + pad that was on top of the Laundry & Bath house. No usable internet for any length of time. I am writing this review with cellular data on my phone because I was worn-out trying to connect to their Wi-Fi which is sketchy at best. (For the entire week!) I did ask for a "long deluxe pull through" when I made the reservation and I saw some great ones while here, but the people who won the lottery came & went so I figured they were regular locals, "Let's give the bad site to a non local!" We will not be back, seems like a great place for families with children but not for an old grouchy camper who has different needs than a pool & playground. It is a well maintained campground, now I know I should have asked for a site in the woods (Best way to describe it) then added: LONG!

Yelp
The best part of our stay was the staff. They waited a few minutes after closing to show us to our site. Who does that?!? They're the friendliest folks I've come across while camping and trust me, we've been to several RV campgrounds. The grounds are perfectly manicured and clean. RV sites are a little tight and close, but who cares? We came to site see, not hang out at RV. Tent camping area is beautiful. Campers were quiet and kept to themselves. No unruly neighbors or loud music. We'll stay here again on our next trip to Custer. And trust me there will be another trip to Custer.

C G.

Yelp
Sets the standard for Campgrounds! Best campground bathrooms ever! This is the nicest campground we've stayed at. Very well maintained. Each bathroom has it's own shower, vanity and bench. Pool area is great with 2 pools and snack bar and hit tub. Staff was friendly and efficient. Office had nice little store with food items, souvenirs and camping supplies. Spots were roomy enough. Will come again.

Yelp
Stayed in one of the new "luxury cabins" located in the back in a quiet area of the campground. The whole campground resort is kept very clean with many rv's and campers on the grounds without being crammed together, nice shower and laundry place although we didn't use it. The cabins are very new with plenty of room for two to four people. Nice comfortable king bed and bedding, roomy bathroom with nice shower and plenty of towels. Very nice sitting area with small stove, fridge and dishwasher. No curtains at windows although windows are placed where neighbors cannot see in; however, when the sun comes up at 5:30a, there is no escape from the light. Would like to see more window covers in the bathroom. But overall a wonderful quiet relaxing stay. Close to all the attractions nearby and a nice place to come back to at the end of the day. Great restaurants nearby too.

Yelp
We have been enjoying our camping experience here at Buffalo Ridge we have been here for over a week. Bathroom's were clean and kept up. Laundry room was very clean although all Washing machines were out of balance. The office is nice, well stocked with worthy souvenirs and sundries. The cleaning staff were super nice and friendly. The office staff needs work. They don't have a friendly attitude and seem stressed. The blond woman in the office on Sunday May 30th in the early afternoon needs to learn how to multitask or they need a dedicated employee handling reservations. Every time we went to the office we waited to be helped because the person was booking a reservation. That's rediculous. On a side note, you can't pick your neighbors and many are horribly ignorant to campground adequate such as barking dogs left unattended that literally bark constantly, kids left to be on their own to run circles around your campsites. People with kids need to be educated on child behavior and how to keep them from ruining fellow campers enjoyment. That all. If you don't like my review or criticism too damn bad! Cheers and learn how to build a fire before you go camping.

Yelp
So the place is new and nice. We were pumped to stay here; however, the nice new bathrooms were NEVER cleaned once and remained filthy. Also, people that worked in maintenence or contractors, as well as guests sped through the campground at crazy speeds while children were present. Not sure we'll stay here again just considering safety concerns... but it's pretty

Yelp
This is a good place to go if you're not a camper. When the pandemic got ramped up, we opted to head to South Dakota for a short vacation and opted for "glamping" and stayed in a sweet cabin at Buffalo Ridge. There was a small cooktop, a fridge, and a toaster. For us, it was perfect. The shower in my cabin was excellent. The bed was comfortable as well. It's a good place to stay to check out the Black Hills.
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
We loved our stay in the Gold Rush treehouse. The staff was nice and helpful. The location was perfect for exploring the Black Hills, Wind Cave and the Badlands. Everything from the layout and design to the decor was amazing. So unique and creative. Can't wait to come back. Highly recommend this stay for anyone looking for a fun, as well as cozy and comfortable stay.
google avatar

Yelp
We stayed here last June and between the people who work here and the amazing tipi we were absolutely bummed we didn't stay more than a night! We will be back again this year. We adore this camp resort and the amazing people who welcomed us, the zipper to the door of the tipi had to be fixed and they were so gracious and helpful to make sure we were warm and cozy and had a temporary fix. We tell everyone we know they need to stay here and plan on bringing more people with us this year!
google avatar

Heidi W.

Yelp
In August we stayed in a glamping tent for a full week and a cabin for 1 day.....gotta say we absolutely loved this place!! All around. Its location is really convenient - there is maybe a little road noise; we live in a large city so are used to it and were not bothered - and the staff is incredible. We want to get to more national parks but if and when we go back to The Black Hills we will definitely stay here again!

Sandra R.

Yelp
Highly recommend this beautiful campground. All the facilities were immaculate. Great pools for kids AND adults. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Sue B.

Yelp
Loved our experience at Buffalo Ridge. We stayed in an economy cabin, which was perfectly located near the spotless restrooms/showers. Overall, the park was clean and full of wonderful amenities for folks of all ages. We especially appreciated the fact that the facility was quiet, though full of guests. Each employee we interacted with was super helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
Very impressed with this place! The staff was very friendly. The registration building was just redone and it's very nice. They also have free coffee and popcorn in there. The bathroom/shower was recently redone also. Best showers I have ever seen in a campground. They were huge and very clean.

Yelp
We have had a very long and wonderful trip around the US. One place we liked the best, camping and sightseeing wise, was this place. The people are super friendly. The sight was perfect. Everything so clean and well cared for. The price..........incredible. We were overjoyed. Will definitely come here in a heartbeat next time in Custer. (Tip-good Sam honored here)

Stephanie S.

Yelp
This was a wonderful weekend getaway! Amenities are awesome and the customer service fantastic!

Cari F.

Yelp
This campground is fantastic! The bathrooms are immaculate and the laundry room is too! We stayed in an RV. While the lots are a little small, the management is accommodating and keep an excellent establishment. I highly recommend staying here anytime you're in the area!

Rhonda K.

Yelp
This is a very nice campground. We reserved a tent site & it is first come first serve. We have hammock tents and a roof top tent. The trees are spaced quite a distance apart, so we improvised & papered our van in between the trees. We strung up 3 hammocks from the trees to the van roof racks & it worked fine. If all we had were hammocks, it would've been more difficult to stay because the distance between the trees. It was pretty quiet. The pool & hot tub were great. Staff is friendly & bathroom updated and clean. Found out this used to be The Flinstones campground which was very special to our family. We had stayed here years ago & wanted to stay again, but found out it had new ownership & they closed it down. So after asking questions from the staff at Buffalo Ridge, we found out the truth about Flinstones and were so excited that we actually did get to stay in the same place. And we were so pleased.

Karen C.

Yelp
Beautiful park! Friendly Staff! Very well maintained! Some of it is under construction adding a pool, etc.. but was not a inconvenience! Good Luck summer 2019!

Ed W.

Yelp
That was the worst place we have ever stayed! The roads and sites are all red dirt(which turn to mud if a thunderstorm comes along...likely in this area). When I made the reservations she told me I had gotten the last spot but the park was half empty. The spot we got was so sloped that our jacks could not go down even with blocks. No cable tv.

Beka S.

Yelp
My family and I stayed two nights in one of the teepees. I am not a camper, but we had a great time. The train and mini golf were also really fun for the kids. The showers were new and very clean (which for is a must for me). It rained a couple of times during our stay but the teepee stayed relatively dry. This camp ground is close to many of the cool attractions in the Custer/Rapid city area, an there are a lot of restaurants near by. The staff was friendly and helpful.
