Due to the fire in Jasper we had to relocate and chose Banff - which we had skipped in the first round. As we were late out, options were narrowed, so we were lucky that Buffaloberry came up - and had a room available.|Wonderful house in a safe area - quiet - and only a few blocks from the Main Street. Parking is in the street and is free. |We were greated when we arrived - and located in our room upstairs. Nice room decorated, views over the mountains. Nice - but small bathroom - but what you need.|Downstairs in the huge living area - we had an afternoon snack - home made of course by Teresa and James. Lovely. The outside patio where you can have a coffee and feed the birds is wonderful, relaxing and James was there for a chat.|It's expensive in Banff - I guess all year around - and the Buffaloberry is on the top of that list. |Breakfast is yoghurt and fruit, coffee, juice and homemade - a little portion of eggs/bacon baked in a little cup/bowl - tasty but small. Toast as well. I could have eaten twice as much - and for the price - I had expected more. |But You pay for the luxury house, the location and for the quietness and few guests.

Our stay at Buffaloeberry was one of the many highlights of our vacation to Banff and Jasper. Our visit started with them in Banff and did not disappoint. Teresa and James were the epitome of hostess and host. They were very personable, attentive and eager to offer suggestions. The B&B was so quaint and beautiful. Centrally located to walking to downtown Banff. The breakfasts were to die for. Don't look any further for a place to stay. This is it!!|Warren & Sarah

The Buffaloberry Bed and Breakfast is an outstanding place to stay and the only place I would consider in Banff. We are repeat customers (4 times) and each visit has been a joy! The rooms are immaculate and comfortable. We love the Wheat and Chafe room on the second floor and my sister-in-law loves the Rabbit Street room on the first floor. There is a lovely patio which can be accessed easily and privately from the first floor rooms. The shared living space is wonderful and cozy. The breakfast is absolutely delicious and will be unique and different for each day of your stay! These were some of the best meals we had and Banff has outstanding dining opportunities. But the cherry on top of the Buffaloberry is James and Theresa. Their experience and knowledge of the area provides great suggestions for hiking, biking, or whatever you might wish to do. Thank you James and Theresa! We will be back!

Buffaloberry is THE Paradise on Earth among this world's B&Bs. ||||Theresa & James run this wonderful and classy B&B that exudes cosiness and homely atmosphere. They are wonderful hosts and great cooks...the breakfast is just creme-de-la-creme, and the various kinds of cookies with the afternoon coffee / tea are homebaked and delicious. We stayed with Theresa & James for three nights and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. ||||The Buffaloberry has a classy dining- and sittingroom with a nice fireplace and comfortable leather sofas as well as a very nice patio. Our room was clean, nice and snuggy. :-)||||Although not located on the main street, Banff Avenue, it's only a few minutes walk...and away from the noise of a main street.||||The Buffaloberry is so recommendable and we'll definitely stay there the next time we'll be coming to Canada.

Buffaloberry is an upscale BNB located near the center of Banff. We stayed in an upstairs room with a king-sized bed and spent three nights. Overall I think the experience was a positive one, the food served is unusual and for the most part above-average. The room is fairly small but the accommodations did not bother us. The hosts know quite a bit about the surrounding areas and will certainly expound on that knowledge for as long as you like. We feel that generally BNB are over-priced in the Banff area and Buffaloberry certainly no exception.

We stayed at Buffaloberry for three nights in mid-September. The location is great - off the main road where most hotels are - but a short walk to the main part of town. Quiet, clean and comfortable room (Oatmeal & Chaff). Good food, lovingly and proudly prepared and presented (accommodating my wife's allergies when told only a few days before arrival).||Contrary to some earlier comments, one of the pleasures of travel is to meet, engage in conversation with others and share experiences - that is one of the attractions of a B&B. Teresa and James were the perfect hosts and international fellow guests joined in lively breakfast table conversation. ||And their tips on what to see and do were invaluable. They made our first visit to Banff most memorable.

The hosts of Buffaloberry have a lovely home, clean and wonderfully maintained. They obviously care greatly about it and are very protective of it. They are gregarious so if this is your style the house will suit you. |I was greeted by Theresa at the front door to detail house rules and giving explanations on how things operated. This continued in the room I had booked. If all this is really necessary at such length maybe a more gracious way would be to allow guests to settle into their room and then to talk, seated in the living room over coffee. |There is a communal breakfast table with guests choosing the time of their breakfast by writing it on a blackboard. There is no choice of main meal, although muesli, yoghurt and fruit with juice are also provided. I thought the spicy vegetable wraps a strange main breakfast but was told that I should eat up as the hosts were used to cooking large breakfasts for hikers. Whilst the breakfasts are an important element in the reputation of this B & B I thought they were no better than others I enjoyed during my travels through Canada. The hosts continually popped out of the kitchen to detail all the ingredients of the breakfast and to talk about their cycling trips, the fires raging in BC, local stories, and their own travels. The other guests at the table seemed to enjoy that conversation although I found it overwhelming, struggling to have conversation with complete strangers over breakfast. Whenever I left the house one or other of the hosts would appear which was slightly disconcerting.|There is parking in the garage underneath the house but room only for two guests' vehicles. Otherwise it is street parking which I was encouraged to use although I did park in the garage.|The room was quiet despite being at the front of the house on the road. It is furnished in an American country style. The bathroom is compact but contains all that is needed. |Buffaloberry is within walking distance of the main town but it is still a number of long blocks and may prove difficult for some people. Parking in Banff is a nightmare!|At CAD$494 a night Buffaloberry is a very expensive option even for Banff. |

The location is a short walk from the centre of town and is ideal. The house is very nicely decorated and very clean. But.||The arrival at this attractive B&B was interesting. We were greeted by Aida who took the opportunity, whilst at the front door (where shoes are to be removed and left) to explain the house rules for locking and unlocking the front door both from the inside and outside. Next were the rules for removing shoes and leaving them in the stand at the door. How the door to our room locked on each side was next, followed by the available soft drinks in the fridge and the allowance of one complimentary alcoholic “nightcap”. Important information – yes, but. ||It depends what you want from your stay – the physical structure and its style, facilities and cleanliness on the one hand and, on the other, the welcome and the atmosphere created by the staff. Has Buffaloberry B&B got this balance right? For us, sadly it was no. ||||My wife is allergic to strawberries, so was pleased when she was asked about food allergies. The pleasure waned a little when told she could leave the chopped strawberries in the fruit mix on the side of her plate at breakfast.||||Would things get better? Aida perhaps didn’t help with her asking one evening, “How many time do you have to get up in the night?”. This was a reference to my pouring a second gin and tonic (my own). Comments, when assembling our 25+ kg each of luggage about overloading the aircraft and adding “I always travel light.” Didn’t help our enjoyment. Such comments seemed somewhat sharp and were without humour.||||This is a B&B and a reasonable breakfast was served (at the time you had written on the whiteboard the day before) each morning. Muesli, chopped fresh fruit and yoghurt followed by a hot dish. There is one dish - no choice. Green eggs were novel. Waffles with fruit, cream and maple syrup were fine, unless waffles aren’t your thing.||||The rooms were fine apart from the bedside light (which Aida didn’t like) which was of lovely style but was useless in terms of illumination. Aida willingly changed for our final night.||||When we complimented her on the lovely style of her property, our landlady explained she was not the owner. They were on holiday and for the last four years she has been their ‘holiday cover’ coming each time from Vancouver. ||||To pay our bill as we left, I asked Aida is she was alright with a mix of cash and card. I put the cash on her table, she said I could keep the loose change. I didn’t and reluctantly she took it. ||So, all in all for our last stay in three and half glorious weeks in Canada this was far from the icing on the cake. Indeed, it left a very disappointing last impression.||||Banff is an expensive place to stay and this B&B is not the cheapest and not worth over CAD450/night.

Yelp
I've been saving the Buffaloberry Bed and Breakfast for review #500. The B&B is named after a native plant that grows throughout the Canadian Rockies. The Buffaloberry's berries are not only favorite treats of the birds and bears, but were also used by the Plains Indians to flavor buffalo meat. A more appropriate (and cuter) name couldn't have been found for James and Theresa's property, as you will learn about their passion for wildlife, native plants, and culinary endeavors while staying with them. The personable James and Theresa are true professionals, skilled in the art of hospitality and home-building. They designed and built The Buffaloberry Bed and Breakfast from the ground up to be a gorgeous home with a purpose: the purpose of treating guests to the best B&B experience ever. Four bedrooms (two on each floor) are located near the entrance of the property. The living space with comfortable couches, a fireplace, bar area and outdoor patio, is shared with everyone. The breakfast table is shared, as well, which is separated from the kitchen by a sliding door. You can just imagine what wondrous creations are being made behind that door while you sit and enjoy your coffee or tea, yogurt, fruit salad, homemade granola and muffins before the hot portion of the meal is served. Theresa's recipes are tested and experimented with several times until she feels she has everything just right. And she definitely has everything just right! From whole soft-cooked eggs in Canadian bacon pockets to souffle-like Camembert scrambled eggs with onions and chicken apple sausage to buckwheat blueberry pancakes to croissant French toast...we were in B&B heaven. We were provided with excellent suggestions for our explorations around Banff, including hikes of varying levels of difficulty and sites of historical interest. The property was perfectly located just a few blocks from the main part of town with a Safeway along the way. No review of a B&B would be complete without comments about the rooms themselves. At The Buffaloberry, every detail has been thought of and taken care of for you. Each room has a private bathroom (two have shower stalls and two have showers over tubs) with plenty of towels and travel-sized soap/shampoo. The queen-sized beds are very comfortable and covered with high quality linens and super warm yet lightweight duvets. There are small TVs over a desk, and the two rooms facing the front of the property have additional windows from which you can see some of the mountains of Banff. The entire B&B is tastefully and warmly decorated; the beautiful Canadian pine and special flooring offer a very comfortable yet elegant style that we definitely enjoyed. I highly recommend that you stay at The Buffaloberry while in Banff. You can thank me after you get back home and are missing Theresa and James and their delicious breakfasts!

Yelp
Loved Buffaloberry B&B. Stayed for 3 nights to ride GranFondo. Beautiful home, lovely hostess, great location.
