"Bugis, in Singapore, was renowned internationally from the 1950s to the 1980s for its nightly gathering of trans women, a phenomenon which made it one of Singapore's top tourist destinations during that period. In the mid-1980s, Bugis Street underwent major urban redevelopment into a retail complex of modern shopping malls, restaurants and nightspots mixed with regulated back-alley roadside vendors. Underground digging to construct the Bugis MRT station prior to that also caused the upheaval and termination of the nightly transgender sex bazaar culture, marking the end of a colourful and unique era in Singapore's history. Today, the original Bugis Street is now a cobblestoned, relatively wide avenue sandwiched between the buildings of the Bugis Junction shopping complex. On the other hand, the lane presently touted as ""Bugis Street"" by the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board is actually developed from New Bugis Street, formerly Albert Street, and is billed as ""the largest street-shopping location in Singapore"". An attempt by the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board to bring back the former exotic atmosphere was unsuccessful. Although the street is now not a well-known tourist destination, it is frequented by many Singaporeans." - Fable

I absolutely love this traditional market. It sells all kinds of goods, modern and traditional items, food and drinks, souvenirs, and various trinkets. There's also a large fruit stall outside. If you're staying at a nearby hotel and craving fruit, this is definitely an excellent choice, incredible value and extremely fresh. The food options here are overwhelming. The best way is to eat while you walk, and you can definitely eat until you're full. After you're full, there are still all kinds of desserts and drinks to enjoy. This place can easily rival traditional markets and night markets from around the world. It's highly recommended for a visit!

Bugis Street is close to Bugis+ and near the famous Guan Yin Temple in Singapore. It’s also close to Bugis Junction — just cross the road to the opposite side (the side where the buses are). The location is very convenient, accessible by both MRT and buses. There are lots of food stalls, toys, and souvenirs at affordable prices. If you take the escalator up, you’ll reach the air-conditioned building, and on the top floor there are many nail salons and eyelash-extension shops — really a lot of them.

If you are looking for souvenirs in Singapore, look no further. Bugis Street is the place to be to buy your typical souvenirs such as t-shirts and magnets. It gets quite boring though as it gets repetitive with stalls selling the exact same thing. There are also a lot of small food shops available to get some food or drinks. Cozy vibes though!

Vietnamese street food made right here! Located at Bugis, very convenient also. The beef pho is served hot and lots of ingredients. The grilled pork rice came with sunny side up egg. The prawn salad is very refreshing I will order it again. The spring rolls are ver authentic too. The staff are polite and food is served up very fast after I ordered.

It's a good stroll with a food center at the end. However if you want to buy food pasalubong here, I won't recommend it as it is cheaper to buy in the supermarket. For keychain and stuff the prices are decent just choose wisely the souvenirs. Pretty crowded like divisoria haha
