We had so much fun doing the Bulldog Tours Ghost and Dungeon Tour. I have been visiting Charleston since infancy, and yet I have never done a ghost tour. Finally decided to do one at age 30! This was an amazing first experience and our guide, Nick, was incredible! The walking pace and distance wasn’t bad either. As someone with arthritis, this tour was easy for me to do. Additionally, we took our 3 nieces, all 12 and under, and it was appropriate for them as well and not scary. They also enjoyed their first ghost tour.

Google
We had a great time doing the dungeons tour! We came with 3 kids from 6-11yrs and there were lots of questions and our guide was able to talk to them as well as the many adults. Although our 11yr old didn’t make it through the tour (she was too scared) the staff made it easy to let us out of the dungeon area while she was retrieved and then I was able to jump back into the group! We are so grateful for the easy going nature of the staff and the fun and ease we were able to have. The walking wasn’t too far and although it was hot and humid the dungeons were a nice cool and shady reprieve, even at 7pm. Thanks so much for all you do and the history (and people) you serve! With gratitude

Google
We went on the Charleston ghost tour with Kevin. It was excellent and his storytelling Is so captivating that I heard every word! The 1.5 hours went by really fast. He is very kind and personable and seems to really love what he does. He spent a lot of time explaining the history and it was scary but fun to be inside an old cemetery. We would book with him again!

Google
Bull dog tours did a great job. First, I accidentally double booked our tour. They called me to ask me which I confirmed was my mistake. He assured me he would have my second fee refunded. As for the tour, we left on time as promised. We did the Dark Side tour of Charleston. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable with wonderful history of the city. As they state, it’s not a ghost tour but covers their darker history. I recommend this tour and tour company.

Google
Bulldog Tours was a great company for our entire stay in Charleston. We had Jim on the USS Yorktown for the Captain’s tour. He was great, knowledgeable and knew some firsthand information due to him previously being in aviation in the Navy. We had Sarah next on the Charleston Jail tour and she was AMAZING! She made the scary building a little less scary with her great guidance. Our last tour was with Jodie on the Ghost and Graveyard tour. She spent some one on one time with each group, talking and getting to know them. She also was very knowledgeable and great at telling all the spooky stories. All 3 of the guides not only gave great informative tours, but they made it all fun, had great connections with their groups, and were wonderful to spend 45 minutes to 1.5 hours with! Will definitely book with Bulldog anywhere I am able to!

Google
Had a great time on our ghost and graveyard tour! The guide was very knowledgeable and had some great stories about the history of the land. Was definitely worth doing during your next trip to Charleston as it’s a fun experience. We did the 930 pm night time tour and the walking was not too bad. The tour was 1.5 hours long but it included several stops. Great tour company! A+++

Google
An Unforgettable Experience with Beau and Bulldog Tours! We took the Haunted Ghost and Dungeon Tour with Bulldog Tours in Charleston on June 29th, and I can not say enough good things about it! From start to finish, the tour was fun, spooky, informative, and completely engaging for the entire family. What truly made this experience exceptional was our guide, Beau. Hands down, he was the best tour guide we've ever had. His storytelling skills were absolutely top-notch—he brought Charleston’s dark and haunted history to life with a perfect mix of suspense, humor, and historical insight. He kept everyone—kids and adults alike—enthralled the entire time. The Old City Jail was especially eerie and fascinating, and Beau’s vivid descriptions made you feel like you were stepping back in time. We learned so much about Charleston’s lesser-known past—gruesome tales, ghost sightings, and the hidden history behind the beautiful facades of the city. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and we’re still talking about it days later. If you're in Charleston and love a good ghost story (and a great guide), don’t miss this tour. And if you’re lucky enough to get Beau, you’re in for an amazing ride!

Google
Good tour. I’m giving it 4 stars because compared to other history/ghost tours I’ve done there was more quiet time just walking. I understand that the haunted locations may be further apart & have more specific stories, but it would have been nice to have more filler. Maybe a longer time in the graveyard. The size of the group & the fact there are so many other groups did make it less spooky, but I understand it’s a popular activity. Of course this is the south in July and it was very hot & humid. Sweat does not dry lol Definitely bring cold water & a fan with good batteries. Our party really enjoyed it overall. We will definitely consider doing the haunted jailhouse tour when we come back to Charleston!

Yelp
Visiting from seattle wa. Went on jail ghost tour last night with tour guid Faith. She was amazing! Weird thing... I took tons of pics and video's. When yhe tour started my phone alerted me I only had 15% battery left. Weird because I had charged it. Then at the end of the tour I took a final picture of my neice with the jail in background. My phone died right after. Then it was giving me and alert "charge error". It would not turn on! I tried several different chargers. Nothing. It was definitely eerie. Makes me wounder if I captured someone in the photos who didn't want to be seen. My nieces who are 12 and 16 were and are still freaked! 07/21/25

Yelp
Our guide, Sarah, was great. We learned a lot and she was very passionate about her job. We were contacted by the company that an event was taking place and that could reschedule us if we wanted. We greatly appreciated the offer. Unfortunately our short stay in Charleston did not allow for a change in plans. The jail house was definitely creepy. The party going on kind of took away from the allure of the ghost tour. Sarah still made it fascinating. It is crazy to think so much horror had taken place in one building. This is a tour to take if you're in Charleston but do a late one so it's completely dark. It will make your hairs stand up.

Yelp
We did the 8PM walking tour of the haunted Old City Jail in downtown Charleston with Sarah as our tour guide and it was amazing. It was heavy, but she was so informative and passionate about the true stories of all the history here. We didn't experience any ghost sightings but we did definitely feel physical effects of being in a place where many people greatly suffered dark and awful things for so many years. I felt heaviness in my body and head and was a bit nauseous especially in the first few rooms, so if anyone finds themselves particularly sensitive to supernatural energy, be aware of the possibility of feeling it on this tour. Wouldn't change a thing, it was so fascinating and disturbing and we loved it.

Yelp
We're Charleston natives but brought friends from out-of-town on the haunted dungeon tour. Sabian was the best!!! He was very knowledgeable and engaging. Highly recommend to anyone, local or tourist.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my spooky night tour with Dakota/Bulldog Tours. It was such a perfect way to wrap up our time in Charleston. My friend and I purchased tickets to the Charleston Ghost and Dungeon Tour, which made stops at the dungeon (obviously), the waterfront, Philadelphia Alley, a church, and more. We had some no-shows in our group, so there were just four of us on the tour with Dakota, which made it feel like a VIP experience. The other two folks in the group happened to be from my home state and it was such fun chatting with them in between stops. Dakota was a top-tier storyteller and a Charleston native. He clearly loves his town and sharing historical lore. It was really just a perfect evening. I highly recommend taking a tour through Bulldog. I'll have to check out their other themed tours on future visits.

Caitlin B.

Yelp
Kevin was an amazing guide. He was very informational and knew a lot about the history during our tour. I would recommend him and the bulldog tours to book any site seeing if they were to visit Charleston. thank you so much for the amazing experience!

Single Gal S.

Yelp
Clara did a great job with our tour of 16 people. She started very promptly, moved us at a good pace, spoke very loudly and clearly, had great energy, and had an abundant amount of historical information to share with us. We had a great tour and will be recommending it.

Kate V.

Yelp
We did the walking Ghost and Dungeon tour this past week. Kevin was our guide and he was really good at telling the stories and keeping my kids interested. Great tour !

Tessa H.

Yelp
We had an amazing time on Bulldog's "Ghosts & Graveyards" tour!! Our tour guide, Dave, was very knowledgeable and great at telling the stories of all of the haunts. The tour was perfectly spooky (as being in a cemetery at 10 pm usually is!!) while feeling totally safe. I look forward to visiting Charleston again to take another Bulldog tour!

Alison B.

Yelp
We had a lovely tour with Ann. Her personal stories provided an exceptionally authentic perspective. She embodied the south hospitality vibe, while engaging the entire group and answering so many questions.

Yelp
We did two tours with Bulldog during our time in Charleston. The first was the ghost tour that included the dungeon and graveyard. The second tour was the Captain's tour on the Yorktown. Merrill was a guide for the ghost tour and she was fabulous! A great story teller. I enjoyed seeing the dungeon very much and appreciated the information about the tombstones in the graveyard. I have toured a cemetery or two (or two dozen) in my life so I am pretty familiar with some of the symbols you see on tombstones but I learned something new on this tour, which is always nice. My hubs enjoyed the tour as well. He particularly liked that Merrill was just a "normal" person wasn't dressed up in period or a ghost theme, lol. I don't remember our guide's name on the Yorktown, but he was a retired gentleman who could really run around the ship! All that walking up and down stairs and ladders, whew! He was almost hard to keep up with and boy did he know his history as well. So much great information! We were glad we paid the extra money for the guided tour because we don't think we would have gotten as much out of it if we just did the tour on our own, reading stuff along the way. Our guide really brought the stories to life. I would definitely recommend Bulldog Tours! The knowledge of the guides was phenomenal.
google avatar

Cari S.

Yelp
It was a great tour and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. While the ghostly part is sort of built in, it was the wealth of historic information that I truly enjoyed!

Daniel T.

Yelp
We went on the Charleston Ghost & Dungeon Tour! Devlin was our tour guide and did a wonderful job! #charlestonsc #ghosttour #bulldogtours

Kayla S.

Yelp
Sarah was so much fun! So interactive and the experience was great! Didn't get haunted like I wished but oh well!
google avatar

Tee F.

Yelp
We expected embellishments about the tour subjects but the tour guide seemed to be talking a lot of lies about himself. What is the point of that?
google avatar

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
The Haunted Jail tour is a must! It literally sent chills down my spine. The stories, the goosebumps that form on your arms when entering the different rooms, the horror..Certainly not for the faint of heart. I can only give this 4 stars as I thought it was extremely short for the price. Any other tour typically gives you double the time for that cost. No group rates either. We enjoyed the tour guide and his stories. I would suggest going during Halloween like we did!
google avatar

Dave R.

Yelp
Keith was fantastic! My mom and I took the VIP Ghost Tour and it was great. He really immersed us into the Charleston culture and told great stories. We were able to see a few different sites that were significant in history. Keith really made the tour great with his knowledge - him being a local really helps! 10/5 would recommend him!

PJ T.

Yelp
The Charleston food tour was incr-edible! We ate drank and laughed albeit a little chilly the group was warm and friendly enough.

Donna H.

Yelp
Enjoyed the tour. Monty did a great job of telling the stories, providing history and interacting with the group. Bulldog Tours had exclusive access to the graveyard we toured so we were able to have up an close view of the markers and tombs.

Lilyanna A.

Yelp
Ms Franny, Ken, and Jade were AMAZING. BOOK TOURS WITH THEM!!! we did the history walking tour with Ms Franny and she was super knowledgeable and was very friendly! we did the vip graveyard/ dungeon tour with mr ken romer and he was so passionate about what he was talking about and had story after story of charleston ghost stories. he was a phenomenal story teller, so friendly, and also showed us pictures on his phone of ghosts caught on camera that related to his stories, which really added to the authenticity and the experience!! & last we did the food tour with jade who gave 150% even though we were the only 2 on her tour! she even stayed with us a good 30 minutes after because we were having such a good time talking about the history of pimento cheese and collard greens- none of us wanted it to end! she went into so much detail about each resturaunt and the dishes we tried - but it was interesting! she talked about not just the actual food, but the history of the resturaunt, how the dish came to be over human history and how it ended up in charelston, the agriculture behind so many different core american foods, and my favorite part, which was the history of the people groups who made it! we learned about the 3 types of french immigrants, eastern european immigrants and their sausage, the gallgoochee (?) people and they're history, thr native americans and the european settlers - and so much more! everything!! it was SO worth it we had the best time. she deserves the american award for the being the best food history tour guide ever!! (and book all those tours in the order written)

Elissa H.

Yelp
Just had a ghost tour on the USS Yorktown with Dave at the 7 O'Clock and he did a fantastic job. It could not have been better!

Sara G.

Yelp
Took a late night, R rated tour with Bruce this past Saturday night. He was not only a book of knowledge with naughty Charleston history, but kept us cracking up the whole time with his punny jokes. I appreciate and greatly respect his prior service to the city and people of Charleston. You can tell he loves his city and is passionate about representing it. Would 10000% recommend this tour for anyone visiting Charleston!
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
We did the VIP ghost tour with Darian last night. She was great at telling the stories as if she was there. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Tina G.

Yelp
We did the ghost tour with Randy. Randy made the tour! The jail itself was kinda what you would expect for a spooky tour, but Randy did such a great job educating us on some of the horrors that occurred the jail. He made the spooky tour engaging without being too kitschy. Very enjoyable tour!
google avatar

Michelle O.

Yelp
While vacationing in Charleston, SC what better thing to do then act like a tourist and join a walking ghost tour!! I loved every minute of it. So much history and culture. Our guide was knowledgeable and was great about answering questions!
google avatar

Kendra B.

Yelp
Easy booking process, easy to find meeting place. Keith was our tour guide and he was great! Loved the stories, dungeon and graveyard was neat.

Chrissy F.

Yelp
The only ghost tour in Charleston that allows access to the circular graveyard after hours!! After 20+ years of living in the south, I finally made the move to experience a frightfully delightful tour. The bulldog tour group offered two time frames for this ghost tour of 7:30 and 9:30pm. Our tour guide was named Devlin and he was super informative and had a clear voice. He felt passionate about what he does and could tell! Our tour took us down part of an alley, near a church, and then into the graveyard. We ended the tour in Washington Square. Overall had a chillingly entertained time! Also, I saved some money by mentioning their ad from one of the local papers so that helped with the price a bit. At the end of the tour, Devlin mentioned if you share his name for booking the next tour there would also be a discount so something to consider for the next tour! Happy haunting!!

Michelle J.

Yelp
Me and my daughter went on this tour on 5-20-25 and we had a blast! Our guide was Devlin and he was excellent. Going into the dungeon was really cool and the stories he told us were all fascinating. Highly recommend and will definitely be going on another tour with Bulldog Tours if I visit Charleston again in the future. Definitely worth the money!
google avatar

Evelyn M.

Yelp
Noah was our guide for the VIP walking tour at 7:45pm. I selected this tour because you went to both the graveyard & dungeon. The commentary was informative and creepy at times and the graveyard part was the best. I was disappointed in the dungeon as it was very staged ( several people commented it was "Disneyesk" with mannequins throughout. Noah did a great job keeping our tour moving & engaged.
google avatar

Gloria A.

Yelp
RUN dont walk! Seriously the best carriage ride tour We did the night spooky one Ofcourse Amazing history and the tour guide was hilarious I cant remember his name but he was a young guy w curly hair in a low ponytail He was the best! They also let you pet the horses I highly recommend!!!

Andrea F.

Yelp
Loved our Historic Charleston S.C walking city tour with Nancy. She was very informative and had lots of great information about history and local area. We highly recommend this tour and Nancy.

Maggie H.

Yelp
Our tour guide was Dave (I think?). Interesting information, and he was personable, but this tour is more of a history lesson than anything 'ghostly'. My preteen granddaughter was disappointed that it wasn't at all spooky. We also walked super fast from the tour company to the 1st stop 0.5 mile away over cobblestones and cracked sidewalks at breakneck speed, then spent over 2 hours almost entirely standing up. Very tiring and we found it a bit boring. If you're really into learning about the history of Charleston, then you'll enjoy this, but if you want a spooky tour you will be disappointed. Perhaps a rebranding is in order.
google avatar

Quintina G.

Yelp
I've been on many Bulldog tours but this one right here...Sarah our tour guide made it a 100xs intriguing! She was very informative about the history and even provided her own paranormal experience. I think would recommend this tour a 10 out of 10. If you happen to get Sarah as your tour guide you'll be in for a treat! We had her for the Circular Church graveyard tour!
google avatar

Aileen P.

Yelp
We loved the graveyard and ghost tour led by Emma.... Fun experience and good blend of Charleston history and lore. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Denise F.

Yelp
In all honesty, food tour felt like a waste of $95. Food portions were tiny and we learned next to nothing. The tour guide seemed lazy and didn't provide anything educational until the second restaurant and that was AFTER we inquired as to when the education would start. And that was Minimal at best. We had already been in Charleston for two days and had eaten at beautiful restaurants with excellent food. The three restaurants our guide took us to were mediocre in comparison. Also, heads up: $40 for a 2 drink alcohol option is ludicrous. We were thankful we did not purchase that and instead bought drinks at the restaurants along the tour.
google avatar

Mandi G.

Yelp
We did the Charleston Stroll with Jon and the Culinary tour with Diane. Both were very knowledgeable and engaging. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Charleston!

Jill S.

Yelp
We did The Charleston Stroll - A Walk with History Tour. Our tour guide Meryl was outstanding! She was both informative and entertaining. The 2 hours flew by, the walk was not strenuous, and somehow she kept us in the shade most of the time. Highly recommend any tour with Meryl.

Vicki M.

Yelp
I did a 2nd tour in the same week with Bulldog. The first was a walking history stroll with Sarah which was exceptional. She provided so many facts about the culture, people, buildings, etc. Her knowledge and enthusiasm about this city is remarkable. The second was a tour of the Old City Jail. Joy was a phenomenal guide. She definitely made us aware of the haunting vibes and experiences within the cells. Two members of my group were spooked from this experience before exiting the building. I highly recommend both these tours - and want to come back to do others with this company.
google avatar

Allison H.

Yelp
We went on the Haunted Jail tour on 6/7 at 7 pm tour with Sara! We had a great time. We appreciated Sara's storytelling and energy! Thank you for the experience.

Kara O.

Yelp
This was a horrible waste of money. We walked around a couple of blocks and were told to lean on the wall while we tried to hear the guide tell us anything interesting! We finally made it to the smallest DUNGEON that I have ever toured! It was a total waste of money and time!
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
Great VIP tour! As a party of 1 put in a group with a birthday party for a 13 year old, I wasn't sure how the tour was going to go. But Adam did a terrific job of holding their attention so that he could explain the history leading up to the ghostly hauntings. I loved how he spooked them a few times even because they were hanging on every word he said! The stories he told about the history of the places we went were very well told. And I loved the stops along the way as well. Thanks for a great tour!
google avatar

Christine C.

Yelp
We did 2 tours with Bulldog while visiting Charleston on our honeymoon. Both were excellent. First, we did the USS Yorktown Captain's Tour with Bill - he was intelligent, interesting, and funny! We got to see all kinds of cool spaces and learn way more than we would have by just walking around on our own. Then, on our last night, we did the Ghost and Graveyard Tour with Jerry. He was super enthusiastic - what an amazing storyteller! We were on the edge of our seats! He kept the group's attention, told a LOT of ghost stories, and even went above and beyond with his empathy for a customer who was feeling ill (she has to veer off for water due to heat, so he checked on her, and let her know where to meet us back on the tour). Both Bill and Jerry were kind and engaging. We would highly recommend Bulldog tours to anyone visiting Charleston - they are well worth it!

Sarah M.

Yelp
Loved the Yorktown ghost tour experience today. The guide was amazing! Such a cool ship

Saralyn S.

Yelp
We did the ghost and graveyard tour and would recommend. Great guide and fun and interesting (and spooky) local stories and sites!

Yelp
5-25-23 9pm My husband and I booked this tour the day before online believing the experience would be even better late at night. Hubby absolutely loves to hear about the sightings of ghosts on television. Therefore what could be better than a tour here rich in so much history. The tour we signed up for was 90 minutes Ghost and Dungeon Walking Tour for $78.44. No one tells you that with the dark cobblestone streets just getting to where the tour started was a challenge. Once we got there Steve our guide lead us down the cobblestone streets at an extremely fast pace. I work out several times a week and found it extremely difficult to keep up. Almost felt we were on a hike not a ghost tour. We stopped in the open market so our guide could put our mind to rest that no slaves were sold here and that the market stayed open even during Covid. What about the ghosts interesting information however we signed up for a Ghost tour. Other tours and actually if you read the signs will tell you this information without paying $78 dollars. So next stop hurray keep up you definitely want to break an ankle and go to the hospital. Oh wait will there be ghosts there? Lol once we make it to the Dungeon all this running I have to go to the ladies room so a nice guide in the Customs House took me there while everyone else went to the basement. The Dungeon is literally a poor man's Disney attraction and guess what no ghosts. But before we leave our guide Steve will show you on his phone some activity from a prior guest picked up on their phone and gave him a copy. Really that's it? Next stop Washington Park we were not promised to see George rise from the dead and the thought of retracing where I was already at earlier in the day was not exciting or interesting so we cut our losses and left. Hands down the absolute worst tour I have ever been on in my life. Over priced at $78.44 I should have at least been scared not given a hike in the dark. The only up side is it didn't rain as this tour was rain or shine. My advise to the tour company rename the tour for the truth you hike people around in the dark read them signs they can read for free. This tour is a definite pass.

Yelp
Kicked off a girls trip to Charleston with the King Street food tour. Faith hosted us, she was fantastically knowledgeable and provided so much helpful information. The tour was truly the highlight of our trip and I would absolutely recommend.

Gary B.

Yelp
We met Dave outside the Mills House to start the tour. There were 8 people on the tour and we had a great time. Dave was very informal and approachable with any and all questions. We saw many of the sites you would expect busty he also had the knowledge to add some out of the way and little known sites and stories which made the tour even more interesting. I would highly recommend Dave and Bulldog tours for others coming to Charleston!!!

Olivia S.

Yelp
We did the Old Jail Tour with Sean, and we had a blast! It was obvious how much the location meant to Sean by the detail and care that he put into our tour as well as a great sense of humor that lightened the mood perfectly! 10/10 would recommend. The tour was the perfect amount of fun, informative, and spooky :)

Yelp
The Yorktown tour was great. Myself, my 12 and 9 yo enjoyed the tour. We come to IOP every year and always visit Patriots point. This was a great new experience and view of the ship.
