Bullring of the Royal Cavalry of Ronda

The bullring was completed in 1785 and is considered the birth place of moden bullfighting with the fight going from horse back to foot. Through time it attracted famous visitors like Ernest Hemmingway and Orson Welles. The cruel bullfights, which must be like the "games" in Roman arenas, are now only held early September during the Corrida Goyesca when the matadors are dressed in 18th century costumes. The events were cancelled in 2024 and 2025 due to safety concerns over the grand stands.

Very interesting experience!! If you are ever in Ronda you shouldn’t pass this museum. I really enjoyed learning more about the bullring fights and history of cavalry in Ronda. I highly recommend exploring the place with audio guide. We were 2 people and we could use 1 audio guide just fine. There were no crowds probably because it’s off season in January, so we could buy our tickets from the counter.

Its a great Historical place in the middle of the city of Ronda. 18th. Century Building, still in use and its in a very good condition. You may enter into the arena with a ticket cost 9 Euro. there is a museum as well as shop on the way to the Bullring, Its very nice and worth for it. Otherwise, You may get the lift of "Hotel Catalonia Ronda" to the 4th. floor, enjoy your beer or even Lunch and have this great place from the top:))) Entrance to the hotel is free and prices are same as other places. You are always wellcome there and staff are really good.

Amazing bull fighting arena. Loved it. People might say it was cruel, but probably not crueler than hundreds of thousands of bovine being cut up for food every day. It’s all in perspective, entertaining the masses. Must visit place to go.

Beautiful Bullring. Probably the oldest and best renovated in Spain. It has a museum and gift shop. A definite must visit when in Ronda.

Nice little tour on the oldest bullring of Spain. Advice: take the audio guide so you’ll get really interesting history facts that you wouldn’t get. Visit is about 1h, and ok with kids.

Visiting the Bullring of the Royal Cavalry of Ronda was one of the highlights of our trip. Even if you’re not a fan of bullfighting, the place is worth seeing for its history and architecture. Standing in the middle of the arena feels surreal, and the museum collections with costumes, saddles and antique weapons are really impressive. Easy to visit, and right in the heart of Ronda’s old town, definitely a stop we recommend. Greetings from Romania 🇷🇴🐾

I thought it was worth a visit. We brought sandwiches and sat in the bleachers and ate them while checking out the arena and doing some tourist watching. Cool to see and oldest in Spain!

More than I expected! Be sure to visit all exhibits! The history of the Calvary and why bulls were used is really enlightening. The opposite gallery cover the bullfighters. Highly recommend to learn more about intent. The view from the breathtaking stairs up top is also surprising. So step into the ring, become a spectator and visit all the exhibits for an educational few hours

Fascinating historical destination to visit. Understand that bullfighting can be controversial, but still have to recognize the historical value of the stadium, and the museum inside. The museum gives a good account of the origins of bullfighting, and its evolution. Artifacts and paintings are displayed from different eras. Finally, the entire stadium is open so that you can walk the entire ring. There is an admission fee to enter. A 10 to 15 minutes walk from the new bridge. Would recommend parking at Ronda Parking, and walk from the bridge to the stadium.
