I didn't realize how difficult it is to find a simple grilled chicken breast and baked potato! 🤯 Obviously this is something that you can get at all the steakhouse chains, but I was wanting to try something new and not stupid expensive. Most of the BBQ places around here have grilled chicken, but the sides are of the cookout variety, (think mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw). I finally came across Bullwinkle's in Miamisburg and ordered to go. It was my first time at this restaurant. You walk in the front door and you immediately see the host stand. There was no one there. There's no instruction on if I should wait or where to go for to go orders, so I just stood there and waited. I peeked around the corners, nothing seems unusually busy. But I don't see anyone who looks like they can help me. So I wait and wait. Finally, a busser noticed me and came and asked if I had been helped. I told him that I hadn't, and he sent someone up to help me. I ordered the grilled chicken, BBQ sauce on the side, baked potato and chicken egg rolls. I was given the chicken with Cajun seasoning. Normally I wouldn't have cared, but I truly just wanted some plain grilled chicken, and this seasoning is LOADED on there. I'm unsure if I was even given the correct order, because this looks like two orders of chicken to me. It's supposed to be two 5 oz chicken breasts, but this looks like a lot. Maybe I'm just used to having worked at other places where each piece of chicken shown here would have been 8 oz. Maybe they were out of barbecue sauce and thought they'd throw in an extra chicken breast? I'm not sure. I didn't feel like going back to get it fixed. The chicken itself was good. Had it not been seasoned, like I wanted, I probably would have enjoyed it more. Baked potato was good. I did find it odd that a side baked potato was considered a "premium side," and cost more. A baked potato is a pretty traditional side at other restaurants. Chicken egg rolls were good, though a bit undercooked. They reheated perfectly. I'll definitely go back, but I think I may call in any to go orders, to ensure accuracy. A few misses, but the food was good overall.

This establishment in Miamisburg, Ohio, is a well-regarded local dining destination, offering both indoor and outdoor seating options. The culinary offerings are prepared to order with precision. Notably, the onion tanglers and baked apples are highly favored menu items.

Coming from out of town (Minnesota) and trying this place for lunch, it was amazing. Party of 10 and everything came out hot and fresh. Started with the clam chowder which was tasty, and finished with a half rack of ribs, with a classic side of Mac and mashed potatoes. Erica was our waitress and was very attentive and patient, rockstar all around!!!

We used Bullwinkle’s to cater our daughter’s wedding on 8/31 and they were awesome! Got so many compliments about being the best food at any wedding they had ever been to. Food was delicious and service was great! I didn’t have to worry about anything and as mother of the bride, that was priceless. I have used them for past corporate events as well, and like always, they never disappoint! Thank you John, Paige and Bullwinkle’s staff…you guys ROCK!

We came here to celebrate my brother’s retirement on a Friday at 6 pm. We expected the restaurant to be busy and called to be put on the waitlist. After we arrived the wait was short and we were seated on a long table to accommodate all of us. Our drink and appetizer orders were taken quickly. And served in no time. The food orders were then taken but food wasn’t served till 50 minutes later! This place is busy! It didn’t bother us since we had a great time with the family. In conclusion, the food is great, beer is cold. It’s very lively. Indoor and outdoor seating available with large TVs.

Google
Great service, the food was pretty good I got the chicken melt and the brisket. Meat left a bit to desire. Fries were crisp and bbq sauce was sweet. Good atmosphere I did feel a bit overdressed. Very casual and comfortable atmosphere. Prices were reasonable! We ordered two meals and an appetizer for $30. Great date Night I can't wait to come back!

Hate to say this was worst visit ever to Bullwinkle's, start with the young hostess as I requested a booth, she offered a seat at the bar as I decline so she took me to the worst table in the house in front of the kitchen doors, so I went the bar and sat at a table, since me and wife did not want the to order drinks the bartender was not to thrilled to take our order even after I told her we were ready to order. Finally got our food, it was so under par my Triple BBQ plate was not great, sweet potato was tiny, best part was the apples. My wife's Fillet looked good but was over seasoned and the bit she shared with me had a tendon run in it felt like eating cheap steak from Kroger. When done I didn't finish the pulled but the happy bartender took my plate and didn't ask if I wanted to take it home, wasn't great but after what I paid for this meal the dog at home wouldn't of cared. It was a Tuesday and knowing you can't take home the all you can BBQ, so no excuse for that one. last time I take my wife there for our Anniversary and yes my wife dropped that info before we ordered but Bartender didn't care.

Yelp
I'm not familiar with the area, so I searched and found this gem! The rack of ribs, mashed potatoes, and onion straws were fabulous! They give you a side of their house made spicy ranch for the onion twists..,and yum! I didn't save room for dessert but I'll have to go back and give it a try since the meals was so good. Our server was knowledgeable, upbeat, and super friendly. She kept the drinks filled before they were even emptied! Apologies for not getting more pictures, and I totally forgot -and got distracted- once the food arrived. This is perfect for laid back grabbing a bite to eat, but it appears well loved, as I did have a little bit of a wait due to the many reserved tables! No worries, the service and taste made up for it.

Yelp
Very first visit to Bullwinkle's for my dad and I a couple days ago on Friday right around noon time straight up. We arrive just before a big rush and influx of people so it worked out good to ask a few questions from the waitress in the bar and get our orders in and get the food delivered pretty promptly We split a full rack of ribs and an appetizer called moose droppings, which were basically flattened potato skins on a pie plate The ribs were excellent. The appetizer of a cookie sheet of potato skins was just not very good. For some reason, they were just soggy not crispy at all. I don't know how they could've been baked in an oven and the bottom of them just been so soft and mushy. Have they been more crusty around the edges or on the bottom side would've made them so much better but as it was, it was just like eating Leftover mushy potatoes The beer was cold had a couple coronas which were on special for $2.50. Each price was OK. Service was excellent from the blonde haired lady behind the bar. Would definitely go back probably get the ribs again and pick a different appetizer for sure or just eat the sides that came with the ribs and skip the appetizer

Yelp
Love the vibe. Historic building Love the decor and the food is pretty good. they are known for the ribs but personally I like the blackbean soup and salad. Def get the dressing on the side because they put too much. They have clams on the menu but sadly they always overcook em so I would skip them. The bar has moosehead and dollars all over the walls and ceiling.

Yelp
Monday is burger night?! Awesome, that was unexpected and so chill since hubby and I both ordered burgers. I love love their vegetarian options. I could have any burger on the menu and swap it with an impossible burger. Love an inclusive restaurant with vegetarian options. Our waitress was attentive and the atmosphere was delightful! The food was so good it knocked me out, no really I was fighting to stay awake after my first half of the Reuben. The fries were so crispy and big too! Would recommend the beer cheese on the side, the prices were fair. Would come back again, heard Tuesday was wings night

Yelp
Bullwinkle's Top Hat Bistro holds a lot of memories for me, all the way back to when it opened almost 40 years ago. In the 80s, my now husband and I went there for New Year's Eve. In the early 2000's when our kids were little, we used to go there with their grandparents every year after we chopped down our Christmas tree. We now live out of town so we don't get there very often, but always enjoy it when we do. Walking in is like walking back in time. This afternoon, we went for a bite to eat between normal meal times...about 4pm...and there were quite a few people there, surprisingly. I was a little concerned about what kind of service we were going to get when we waited by the hostess stand for several minutes before seeing any employees, but after that, we had great service for the rest of the visit. The place looks just like I remember it, and has been well kept up. The moose head is still on the wall. :-) We shared a pretzel, I got the buffalo chicken salad, and my husband got boneless chicken wings. The food was fair, not great, but it was a really good deal for what we did get. Those food items plus 2 margs and a dos equis came out to only $40. It would be a great place for a family on a budget to go, for sure.

Yelp
Great food and service. Best ribs!! Favorite restaurant in the Dayton Ohio area. Reservations are needed during peak days and times.

Yelp
wonderful spot for outdoor seating when the weather cooperates! They have a ton of TV's with a variety of entertainment on. The servers were quick enough to get to our group of 8 and get some drinks going while we figured out. We ended up ordering a few mixed drinks and a couple beers. Everything came out well. but one of the mixed drinks was crazy sweet and didn't hit the spot.. no big deal. we all had a variety of food. pulled pork, salads, burgers. It was good, nothing that blew my hat off but good quality and good overall. the only negative thing about the outdoor seating was that there were bees absolutely everywhere.. small sweat bee's, not a huge deal for most but you could see people swatting them away at the bar on a regular basis and one of the kids is a scaredipants and annoyed us all when she freaked out over a small bee every 3 seconds.

Yelp
The BAD. I have been going to Bullwinkle's for years and have ALWAYS gotten their ribs which are generally excellent with ample portions of meat. However, I have been in twice in the last 2 months and the ribs have just been horrible. Each time I have gotten a half slab of their ribs (6 bones with "meat between the bones) and each time there was virtually NO meat at all between the bones, maybe 1/4 of an inch and NO more than 1/2 inch and both times the ribs were SERIOUSLY overcooked. Bullwinkle's should be ashamed to allow something like these to be served to a customer. In both incidences we wound up paying $18 dollars for a baked potato and a scoop of coleslaw and no more that 1-2 tablespoons of meat. The GOOD. The Moose taters are still GREAT for an appetizer. Also I can't say enough in praise of their servers. Their service has always been excellent.

Yelp
It has been a while since I have been in this place. Same cool old brick wall feel. Service was prompt and the food was fine. It was fiesta Friday and the $2.50 made for an inexpensive night with solid bar food. I was looking for the killer Q chicken sandwich of yesteryear. Things move on, but it was a favorite Sandwich in the past. Overall solid value with good service I need to stop back againsoon

Yelp
Had not been here in years and have now eaten here 5 times in the last 3 months. Love their burgers and fries which all come out piping hot. Service has been great each visit and the atmosphere is the same antique building it's been since they opened about 30 years ago.

Yelp
Been here a few times. Quick seating and waitstaff were fast in asking for drink order. I get the rib basket and love it. Fall off the bone and not overpowered with sauce. Not big on the seasoned fries but you can change the sides for $1 more. Prices are reasonable.

Lashawnsa S.

Yelp
I am new to the area and tried this place out for the all you can eat BBQ last week. I was leery about getting it as it was $27 but it was amazing. I left very full. It wasn't southern ribs or anything but however they cooked it they prepped and present fall off bone ribs. Service was good . She was attentive but catered more to bigger party. I guess since I was alone . Want more money which I get. I will definitely return.

Mitzi M.

Yelp
Great ribs every time we eat there. Service good and quick. Good outside patio and bar if you like these features.

Yelp
We love this place. It was delicious as usual. We hand the hash puppies as an appetizer. They are hands down our favorite. I had the ribs with a baked potato and a side salad with house made ranch dressing. My husband had The Rocky burger. It had ham and cheese on top of the patty. He enjoyed it. Our sever, Katie, was really good and the service was fast. We recommend dining here. We've also enjoyed the outdoor patio in the past. We dined indoors today. Fun atmosphere in the bar area. You can also get on the wait list on their website. I recommend doing that for sure. Cheers!

Yelp
Our waitress was excellent and the venue was classic & charming. "MOOSETATERS"!! - You want these. They're like the best potato skin you ever had on steroids. I got a pork chop that was cooked about as perfectly as it can be done. Wife loved the mac & cheese. Everything was great, although I'd reccomend going a little more agressive on the seasonings. I don't mind tossing a bit of S&P around, but as well prepared as everything was, I felt like it had to be by design. Go crazy, imho.

Yelp
Back to the 1960's ambience and that is fine. Lots of busy hustling servers - always. Decision: Inside or outside dining - both are recommended. Tonight was all you and eat BBQ. My son chose Full Rack and excellent; I elected Pot Roast - excellent as well. Great PM experience, and we recommend.

Roger T.

Yelp
The menu for one I couldn't really find anything that sounded so I tryed the Viking burger wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be not enough caramel onions Burger wasn't thick it's supposed to be half a pound

Kirsten R.

Yelp
Had a great meal this afternoon, side salad with grilled chicken breast with ranch. Very good! Others in the party had a sirloin steak, it was good too and the fries were delicious. Wings were really tasty. Chocolate Moose was awesome! Our server Tori was very nice and very prompt. We will be back again!
google avatar

Phillip Y.

Yelp
The server was excellent and the ribs were better than the server. Fall of the bone ribs and red skin potatoes, amazing! And for dessert we had a Rocky Top! Oh my what a way to Finish dinner! Ice cream, chocolate brownie and chocolate syrup! Yummy!

Yelp
Usually always sit on the patio and service is always top notch. Food is amazing and atmosphere is very small town homey.

Yelp
Pulled Pork and Ribs were great, homemade BBQ sauce was delicious!! Atmosphere of the bar is fun.
google avatar

Khloe D.

Yelp
If you want greasy and hearty food, this is the place to go. But the dressings/dipping were amazing. The service was average unless you sit in the bar. The decor reminded me of an old timey tavern. Overall the restaurant was mediocre at best.

Yelp
Bullwinkle's is an old Miamisburg standby. As with all restaurants that have been around for quite a while, I felt like there may have been a slight dip midway through my going there, but at the same time they have more than made up for the last 10 years. I have been a constant guest during the fall/winter. I highly recommend the ribs, the shredder Q, and I am a big fan of the Sherman Burger. Love the old-school feel of the building and service is always good with a smile. The bartenders are always accommodating when I come into to eat solo. Do not miss the appetizer, called the moosetaters. That is an absolute star of an appetizer in my mind. They are like potato skins, with a couple types of cheese on them, some bacon, and a side of ranch. Although, I replace the side of ranch with their barbecue sauce. The barbecue sauce is really sweet, but it definitely grows on you. It's been a staple in my cabinet for many years after they started selling it. Do yourself a favor and go to Bullwinkle's sometime soon.

Travis C.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurants of all time. The food is consistently amazing. I recommend the ribs and moosetaters. The service is always top notch and even with a wait, it goes quick.

Matthew N.

Yelp
It is great barbecue for the price and they have tons of options. Also, there is a great patio outback that is perfect for late night and it is also next to a huge park.
google avatar

Johanna G.

Yelp
If you're looking for a fun and very friendly place to go by yourself or a large group of friends, I highly recommend Bullwinkle's. They offer a large variety of food and spirits. My only complaint is lack of variety with gluten free options, but wow those ribs! The bar area is festive and has ample seating. If I lived close, this would be my spot!
google avatar

Drew P.

Yelp
The the new outside area they made. Food has been really good everytime we go there. Service has been above par. Ladies seem to work very hard. Overall great place to eat.

Yelp
Double date night on a Friday night. Food was really good and service was good/friendly. Had to wait a while even after joining the waitlist, but we used the time to walk around downtown and look inside the candy store. The menu here has a lot of options and the prices are nice. We shared the appetizer combo between the 4 of us and it was plenty!! We all loved the chicken tenders and moosetaters (potato skins). 3 of us liked the hash puppies. I had the half rack of ribs and pulled pork combo with redskin potatoes and corn o'brien. It was soooo good! The only thing I didn't love was the corn. It needed more flavor and butter. The ribs were tender and sweet with just the right amount of smokey. The pulled pork had great flavor and I didn't need any sauce on it. The potatoes were cooked perfectly. My husband had fettucine alfredo with chicken (but they forgot the chicken). It came with some garlic toast. He was only able to eat half (because of the portion size) and brought the rest home. Our friends had ribs, grilled chicken, loaded mashed potatoes, and downtown mac n cheese. Everyone needed boxes foe all the leftovers. They do not skimp on portions!! There were also a couple salads before meals. Both good. One with Ranch and one with the Apple Cider Vinag. My husband also had a couple of beers. One Mich Ultra and one Vanilla Porter (that he loved). No one left hungry! We will for sure be back to try some favorites and some new things.

Yelp
Late lunch on a Friday. Found seats in the bar area. Server took drinks orders quickly. Had clam chowder to begin. Great taste with plenty of clams and the potatoes perfectly cooked. Entrees were fried catfish with a crisp cornmeal batter. Tartar sauce banging. Do yourself a favor and get the onion strings- reeeally good. Service was well paced. Pleasant place for a good meal.

Yelp
Beautiful old building. Love the history in the building. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding!

Yelp
We have dined all over the country. These were the best ribs we've had ( sorry, Texas!) Very casual dining, moderately priced, easy parking. Service is great. We ordered the rib basket with a side of onion straws. We are retired, so we no longer have BIG appetites and this was plenty of food for both of us.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Food was delicious atmosphere was amazing. Steals and pork chops highly recommend for date night and special occasion.

Steven D.

Yelp
Great service. Waitress was very polite and helpful, Our friends have never been there and really enjoyed their visit.

Yelp
Clean and roomy seating. Friendly staff. Very fair pricing. Food was excellent, and they have an extremely wide variety of menu options. The best carott cake I've experienced anywhere. Highly recommend.

Dan S.

Yelp
This is a superb restaurant that sells fantastic food and has quick service. Every time I go, the food tastes better along with the wonderful service. The restaurant is located in a historical building in downtown Miamisburg. Make reservations before going due to the crowds of people.

Heather S.

Yelp
Manager who sat us totally ruined the mood for Mothers Day! She made a snide remark when she seated us when we asked to sit one table down. There was another table who was having a conversation and figured they wouldn't want us next to them. It wasn't busy by any means. After the remark, we asked if it was ok and she just walked off. We eat there weekly and have for years. We spend too much money for that crap. I'll take my business elsewhere. Thanks for ruining Mother's Day for me.

Yelp
Went to the Dayton Airshow and found this place. I think I found my favorite BBQ place. From the clam chowder which was very good to my salad where I tried the apple vinaigrette dressing which was awesome. I ate the BBQ combo with a 3 bone rib side. The sauce was sweet with a little heat and the brisket, pork and chicken had a good smoke flavor. Even though it's a 45 minute drive from west side of Cincinnati, I think we will be back to try other things.

Yelp
On a business trip to Miamisburg, we had a work event at Bullwinkle's Top Hat Bistro in the evening. This American restaurant is located in downtown Miamisburg and has two levels. We were located in a private room upstairs. We had two waitresses taking care of a large group. After a couple of drinks, everyone ordered whatever appetizers and entrees they wanted. Standard pub fare, I tried a bunch of shared apps and had the chicken fried steak for my entree. Pretty solid. I was also happy that they had two TVs in the room as March Madness was going on while we were there.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Best pot roast I've ever had.. opted for the ranch red skinned potatoes and green beans. Love it all! well worth the wait!
google avatar

Maureen S.

Yelp
The best ribs in the area! Love Bullwinkle's! We love to bring friends here for ribs.
google avatar

Jarod B.

Yelp
Great patio area. Service was phenomenal. Would recommend to everyone, especially couples with kids.

Tam's P.

Yelp
Love that you can join the wait list. Service was great and food was good. I ordered a filet med/well. They butterfly it which is fine but it was really dry.

Yelp
I LOVE Miamisburg and one of my favorite places is Bullwinkle's. A group of us went last Saturday for an impromptu dinner!! They have a groovy vibe. Old building, dark wood, plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs! Nice weather, check out the patio!! The service is ALWAYS amazing. Servers are great at answering questions and making recommendations!! The food: mmmmm great pulled pork!! Ribs so tender they fall off the bones. Awesome sides! I LOVE their black bean soup!! I always go with a group of friends. This way we can share plates!! Oh, and plenty of food for the money! Great for groups, date night and families! I promise to add pics because I know I will be going again soon!! Check it out!! When you're done, take a walk in town. Lots of cute shops!!
google avatar

Cassandra C.

Yelp
Absolutely one of our family's all time favorite places to go out to eat!! Love the wings and ribs. Favorite appetizer is onion straws. Love the salmon with caesar salad. Service is always good. Atmosphere is family friendly. Definitely check it out if you have not.
google avatar

Jenni R.

Yelp
We have been to this restaurant a couple of times. But I don't think we've ever had the ribs. Today we ordered the rib basket and half pound burger. The ribs were excellent! Very meaty. And just awesome. Fall off the bone. I think it's the best ribs that we've had in a very long time. The burger was also very very good. The left asking ourselves. Why don't we come here more? So I think we will be making more trips to Bullwinkles. We sat in the bar area. It has dollar bills attached to the ceiling and around the walls. And it's got an eclectic older atmosphere. Bicycles hanging from the ceiling. And of course the moose. Bullwinkle.

Yelp
A first visit and I'm very pleased. Pointer: join the waitlist via their website because time waiting will be saved. We were a party of four and all cleaned their plate! We had salmon, pork chop, buffalo wings and beef roast. Portions are large so easily can be shared. Our waitress was outstanding! This will be a revisit when we visit my in-laws. PS- sorry for no pictures. I was enjoying my meal & family. Yes - great option!

Yelp
$2.50 margaritas on Friday!!!! Love it!!! Always get great service and it's a relaxed atmosphere.

Yelp
I got the sirloin and pork Amazing! Our server was on top of it continuously making sure we had what we needed, and the Buffalo in the dining room really makes you appreciate how amazing
