My wife and I stayed here on a Saturday night and ate in Ivy the restaurant downstairs. The Girl who runs the place was delightful. She couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. We got the Junior suite for £69 which was fantastic value. The room was lovely with a huge super king size bed, ensuite bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities. Great powerful shower and you can get breakfast till 10.30 which was great as we like a lie in. The breakfast was first class with an excellent choice of cooked breakfasts (full fry, veggie fry, french toast with fruit/bacon, home made pancakes) along with the usual fruit juice, cereals, home baked bread and croissants if desired. Everything was cooked fresh and a lovely quality. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night and the food was superb, the nicest food we have had out in quite some time and well worth the money paid. If you like seafood definitely choose the seafood platter for your main. Fantastic. The restaurant itself is very cosy and comfortable and as stated previously the service was first class. It was full on the night we were in and had a lovely atmosphere. Bunbeg itself is quiet at this time of year but the landscape is beatifully rugged and wild and the ocean views are the best in Donegal in my opinion. Lovely to hear the locals speaking in Irish in the pub and shops. Bunbeg Lodge and the Ivy restaurant both highly recommended.

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed our break, as the area is beautiful. ||The food is very good, particularly the evening menu. At breakfast the use of cheap sausages surprised us, given the high standard of other ingredients. ||At dinner, the restaurant was over booked, so we had nowhere to sit after finishing our meal for our Irish coffees. The reception area was used as an additional dining room. We would recommend booking dinner well in advance and asking for the second sitting so you aren’t rushed. ||The bedroom was very small and the sea view was really only visible when you stood at the window on tip toes. The bathroom is tiny and you could hear the neighbours flushing their toilet. However, the bed was comfortable and everything was very clean, with a daily room refresh service. ||Probably a bit expensive for the standard of bedrooms.

I had been made aware that this restaurant served good food before I dined there for the first time last weekend. That's an understatement. Upon arriving we were greated warmly by the staff. On into this very well laid out warm restaurant we went. The staff were very polite and we weren't left long waiting for our drinks and orders. The food arrived on time and cooked to perfection. One of the best meals I have eaten in years. This hidden gem is a must for anybody visiting the area.

Couldn't have asked for better. Lovely place, excellent food but most of all great staff. Typical welcoming from Donegal - land of my grandfather.Great choice in breakfast and the dinner menu covered all tastes and very reasonably priced.||||Tomás Belfast.

Worst ever service..... we were shown to our table where the hostess dumped the menus on the table, grunted and walked away. Eventually she came back to take our order. On presenting our food, she literally dropped the plates on the table, splashing the dressing/gravy over us, saying plates are hot and walked away again. Only saving grace here was the food, quite nice.....we would definitely not recommend this place to our friends

The restaurant is ambient and although busy not noisy . Staff ( Breid in particular) very helpful and attentive . ||Great selection of wine . I recommend the Malbec. ||Looking forward to going back . ||Well done to all @The Ivy

Think the B&B doesn't have many visitors stay off peak we were the only 2. Place freezing when we arrived at 5pm. They served me rum the first night which wasn't Bacardi the same the second night and when we complained the waitress refused to show us the bottle?? My food was lovely but my husband was unable to eat his steak it was full of sinue. They did ask if all was well and offered alternative but the place was so busy we didn't want to wait. So my husband just ate a few chips. When we checked out the first night charge wasn't on the bill.we thought this was a good will gesture by the owner but have since been charged this without my permission

The Ivy Wine Bar & Bistro @ Bunbeg Lodge. Obviously been renamed. Went for dinner on Good Friday. No reservations for 4 of us. Pleasant and professional. Got a table without any fuss. 1 of us was not hungry and absolutely no problem to just have tea and cheese board. Served extra brown bread instead of crackers. Cheese very tasty. The salmon dish was well presented and tasty. Asparagus and pea risotto perfectly balanced and cooked. So easy to get this dish wrong but it was spot on. I had the sea food medley, 3 perfectly cooked scallops. Good size, not the biggest but tasty and not over cooked and a reasonable size. Shrimp and prawns in a lovely light cream sauce which I added the superb mash potato and couldn't be faulted. Smoked haddock and fresh were equally delicious. Creme brulee served with a finger of good short bread. Excellent. Had tea and an interesting plum & ginger cider. Tasty. I would say the best meal so far this trip along the Wild Atlantic Way. Compliments to the chef and staff who were attentive without being overbearing. Try it.
