This is the ideal site for those who like to go to sleep to the sound of breaking waves. Our second floor bungalow had four windows open to the beach, along with a side terrace and more windows guaranteeing us sea breeze. Ceiling fans ensured our comfort. The room had two large beds, full kitchen and bath, with hot water. Amenities included cable television and free wireless internet. Facilities were keep spotless by cleaning staff who have a second specialty in sculpting different animal figures out of towels (which they also decorate with hibiscus and other flowers from the premises' gardens). And we were literally steps from the beach. Hotel provides palapas and beach chairs/chaise longues. La Ropa is Zihuatanejo's best beach, with reasonable surf for playing, but also enough calm for swimming or just cooling off. ||||La Ropa's greatest limitation is lack of services. There are several great restaurants nearby (La Escollera was our favorite, especially for its truly spectacular views and personable service - and reasonable prices), but stores are scarce. We had to go downtown (30 minute walk or 5 minute and $4 cab ride) for anything more than basics - e.g., pharmacy items, banks, supermarkets, souvenir shops. On the other hand, the beach is expansive and not crowded.||||We paid about $70 a night for this large space in a modern structure that could easily sleep a couple and two kids (or other combinations of people). We watched Wimbledon on TV when it rained, and when it stopped, ran right outside and dove into the refreshing water.
