We came here yesterday evening for a little birthday dinner for my sister. I made the reservation online which was promptly confirmed and easy to do. We had a few requests for my sister as she is visually impaired and we wanted her to be as comfortable as possible with seating arrangements. As soon as we came in, the staff were incredibly lovely and welcoming and all our requests and needs were met! It was a cooler evening so we had the luxury of having a heater near our table as we ate. The food was phenomenal, everything was just perfect and very fresh tasting. We had an absolutely wonderful experience here and will definitely come back. Everyone who was working that evening was very accomodating, kind and patient. It is such a beautiful restaurant in a very pretty older building. It’s definitely a place you’d want to stop by if you are ever in Bendigo. I can not recommend this place enough!!

Terrible Service, Overpriced, and Very Disappointing – Would Not Recommend We had a truly unpleasant experience at this restaurant tonight. We arrived at 7:30 PM, placed our order at 7:40 PM, and shockingly, didn’t receive our food until 8:20 PM — even though the restaurant closes at 8:30 PM. That left us with just 10 minutes to eat. We hurried through our meal, struggling to chew through extremely tough beef, and finally finished most of the food by 8:35 PM. Throughout the meal, the staff were cleaning all around us, clearly eager for us to leave. Wanting to be considerate, we suggested packing our desserts to make things easier for them. One staff member told us it was ice cream and that it might melt if packed, so we thanked her and said we’d wait for it. However, by 8:45 PM, there was still no sign of the dessert. When we asked again, we saw the staff only just starting to prepare it at the bar. We told them it was too late and we no longer wanted it — only to be met with multiple eye-rolls and attitude, as if we were the ones being unreasonable. On top of that, we paid a 15% public holiday surcharge, and yet the service was poor, the food was mediocre, and the overall experience was frustrating. To make matters worse, my daughter commented that the bubble tea tasted decent at first, but the flavour quickly faded — by the end, it was like drinking plain water. Absolutely not worth the price. We understand that staff may want to finish work early, but rushing customers out, delaying service, and showing such blatant disrespect is not acceptable. This experience completely ruined our evening. We will not be returning, and do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Good service and atmosphere to eat. I personally didn’t like the chicken Pad Thai, I thought it had a slight smelly meat flavour to it, but it could be just me. Everything else was good :)

Had a dinner with family. Drinks menu was nice with variety of selection. Nice ambience, nice and friendly staff, food menu is nice, need a bit of help from Thai food veterans or the staff. They were helpful in choosing the dishes. Nice food could not enjoy all the way as I am not a Thai food expert but lived it. We ordered a family deal which came with variety of starters, stir fry beef, noodles, white rice, chicken curry in coconut and so many. The washrooms are located upstairs so not really friendly for physical challenges. Clean wash rooms. Loved the heritage building and the Thai way of decorating it. Overall a great experience.

Highly Recommended! The food and mulled cider is amazing. Especially dumpling and noodles and banana fish.

Wow 😮 That’s all I can say . From the moment you walk in the door it is all wow . Situated in the old Colonial Bank building in Bendigo, this place is next level and a 10 out of 10 all round . If your looking for a great place to take the first date and impress or your just looking for dam fine food then do yourself a favour and look this place up . You will not be disappointed. Big Tip : The entire calamari is next level 😋

I did want to put in writing my displeasure at being charged $16+ for the FOUR prawn dumplings that came on a bed of sautéed onions and with toppings that meant my child, who I ordered them for, would not eat them (when the only stated additions were oil and soy). More frustrating is our usual go to restaurant sells TEN prawn dumplings (almost identical to these ones) for $17. I did ring them after the order turned up, but I thought it would be useful to write a review for others and so they understand why I was so outraged. Apparently they do other dumplings x 10, but the prawn dumplings x 4 🤷‍♀️ FYI the other dishes were very acceptable.

It was Tuesday when a group of us went to Bunja Thai Restaurant for lunch. A couple of us had the special for the day which was Bunja's style fried rice with chicken and vegetables. The meal was flavourful and really hit the spot. It is also worth mentioning the lovely heritage building which added to the atmosphere and to our experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick. Well done to the team!

Yelp
Lunch special! The building alone is worth a visit to this restaurant housed in a beautiful gold rush era bank building with ornate ceilings. We ordered the Khao Soi Chicken Noodles and the Thai Style Beef Pho and they were delicious. The staff were friendly and the prices very reasonable. This is a great option for lunch in central Bendigo!

Yelp
Great selection of Thai food, including vegetarian options. The staff are friendly and efficient. Laksa soups and the stir fry dishes are particularly pleasing.

Yelp
When I first walked into Bunja Thai, the amazing atmosphere of this restaurant blew me away. A very friendly and happy waiter placed me at a nice clean table and delivered the menus to me straight away. Still amazed by this lovely antique restaurant and friendly customer service, I decided to order a very cheap, $12 lunch special. My meal came within 15 minutes or ordering! The plate was filled to the edges with delicious looking and smelling Thai food. My mouth had already exploded after just one bite. There was the perfect amount of spice in the curry and the flavours worked together well. Not just the taste of my meal but also the presentation of my meal was an absolute work of art. With a full, impressed and delighted stomach, I left Bunja Thai knowing the true taste of Thai food. The food looked so impressive that it even made it to my Instgram and Tumblr! Overall, I really recommend this restaurant to anyone as I guarantee you aren't going to get an experience of traditional Thai like this anywhere else. I am astonished of just how delicious Thai food can actually get! :)) DON'T MISS OUT!!
