I recently visited Buns from Home in Covent Garden, and I have to say, my experience was far from enjoyable. This tiny hole-in-the-wall bakery is definitely not worth the hype. After hearing so much buzz about it—mostly from influencers—I had high expectations, but they were completely dashed.
I decided to try the tiramisu bun for £4.50, and what a mistake that was! It was sour and honestly disgusting, leaving a terrible taste in my mouth. For that price, I expected something truly delightful, but instead, I got a bun that wasn’t just unappetising but also far from filling.
The shop itself is cramped, making the experience uncomfortable. You feel like you’re constantly being pushed and jostled by other customers, which is not ideal when you’re trying to enjoy a treat. The long lines are a testament to its popularity, but when you finally reach the counter, you find that stock runs out quickly. I watched as many people in front of me were disappointed when their desired items were no longer available.
Overall, Buns from Home feels incredibly overpriced and overhyped. The ambiance is chaotic, and the quality of the food simply does not live up to the expectations set by social media. If you’re looking for a satisfying treat in Covent Garden, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. This place was a major letdown for me!
