Friendly service with nice smiles. They asked if it was our first time and they explained theenu. Excellent burger. The patty is home style smashed burger (8oz). Served with a hot buttered and toasted bun. The condiments are self service with every choice you could imagine. Outstanding burger joint. Must try.

The food is great! Very clean and family friendly!! Food wait time was not very long!! The burgers are delicious and the fries are great too!! Definitely recommend to family and friends!!

Called my order in for pick up. I ordered one fish dinner with 2 red sauce and 2 tarter sauce. I also one fish dinner with 4 tarter sauce. He explained when I picked up they were out of puffs and had substituted dry toast. I’m my opinion you could have kept your toast. The puff and honey is the best part but I didn’t complain. When I got home with my meal there was one red sauce in each meal. No tarter at all. I personally not eat red sauce. Once I’m home if I were to return for the condiments I ordered my food would be uneatable and cold. It’s no surprise they were not busy at 7:00 on a Saturday night. Cost go up and quality goes down. I won’t be back and I have been eating there and ordering to go since it opened! It used to be one of my family’s favorite. Sad really what the service industry has come to. My buns are done!!!!!

Delightful ambiance and customer service! Right when you walk in you see a clean legible menu sign as well as the grill cooking up huge burger patties. It is a very popular joint but no lines and readily found a place to sit. The food was prepared quickly and served with crisp hot lightly battered fries. Delicious! IMO the buns really make the burger - soft bread yet lightly toasted and same size as the juicy cheese covered patty. The self-served fountain drink area was easy and they serve Coke products. Will absolutely return again and highly recommend! Don’t forget to get a gumball on the way out!

Burger was good, but they need to update their prices and is clearly false advertising over the register. They have a sign that says #1 combo for $10.50, but was charged 10.82 and when I mentioned it the girl she could have cared less.

This was perfect for my last lunch before getting on a plane home. Burgers are so great. Made to order, had mine medium rare with grilled onions and jalapeños. Cheese fries are yummy and fresh. Going to try the onion rings next time. Bye Lubbock, see you next time!

Usually it’s real good, but my last visit was horrible. The burgers had no seasoning and the fish sandwich tasted like something fried but not a fish. Get it together Bun’s over Texas… it was the big guy cooking. Don’t be afraid to use seasoning and don’t press your burger meat, my friend.

Ordered the burgers with fries and cheese sticks expecting some good food. I was disappointed. The food lacked any flavor. Advice to this place - Don't be afraid to use seasoning in your food! The prices were decent. The place was packed which is great for this business but I had better burgers at fast food joints! They also had a lot of dirty tables and people wanting to seat down so maybe hire more busboys or staff to clean tables! I know there are people out there that enjoy bland food. If you do this is your place!

Yummy! Me and my boyfriend ordered 2 burgers and the fried pickles, the burgers were delicious and came out in a timely manner. The atmosphere inside is choose your own seating, there was a birthday party and its very family friendly. The fried pickles were good, they had more of a fish-fry batter that we didnt like, but it was good. You assemble your own burger and the fry sauce is bomb. Service was very kind and professional.

Great burger - loved the ability to accessorize directly. Enjoyed the onion rings as well. Fun little place. Definitely recommend.

The customer service that the Buns Over Texas crew provided today is unmatched. I firsthand witnessed an unhinged maniac come in today & verbally attack 3 of their employees over her not being clear with her order. Their professionalism left me in awe. Not to even mention that our food was delicious, per usual. The atmosphere is great! 10/10 will keep giving them my business!

I was not all that impressed. The service was fast. The options (top it yourself) for the burgers was plenty. However, all of the food was ordinary and bland. No seasoning of any kind. Nothing to put it above any normal fast food restaurant. What I did love was the frescas ... amazing! I would go back for those!!!

Well this place is always busy, it's a bit expensive, but great burgers this restaurant is clean, as are the restrooms. They have a great variety of things to choose from and friendly staff

Our church had a get together here. Michael and his team did an excellent job of taking time to see that our needs were met for seating 30 people. The food was top notch, all cooked after you order. Atmosphere was great as well. For sure a return visit is in the future.

Just got in from Atlanta - looked for some quick seafood - ordered the cod and cheese fries for carry out - was ready when I arrived - food was very good

While the food was good, reasonably priced, and the employees were friendly, not a single one of them were wearing gloves while making food. I didn't notice this until we were leaving, but I am appalled that proper food handling practices were not being followed. We will not be returning.

Yuck! Had to wait in line to pay, wait in line for mayo, wait in line for veggies, wait in line for drink, then eat cold burger and cold hard overcooked fries. Hands down, worst restaurant in Amarillo, possibly Texas.

I have never reviewed a restaurant on yelp before but this place made me want to sign in to yelp and give a 5 star rating. The burgers are great. Reasonably priced and addicting. A good family friendly atmosphere with a kind staff. Love this place.

Want a great burger in Lubbock? This place does it right. Fresh beef, freshly made when you order it, great fries, and a great condiment bar, which includes green chile. Also have great chicken sandwiches, and breakfast sandwiches. Good place to eat!

I love being able to put my burger just the way I want it and the meat is cooked after you order The onion rings are quite good and I love there tater totes are very good. They are quick and you food is always hot and they keep the place very clean. And the food bar is always fresh. Everyone there is so friendly and take good care of you

This place is just a good little hole in the wall. Saw it while driving by one day and figured I try it out. Burger was fantastic and the staff was super friendly! Will definitely be back!

I've been coming to Buns off and on for years and always leave happy and full. A locals favorite that is almost always full of people. At times, the line to order can move a little slow but the food usually comes out pretty quick and knowing that they make everything AFTER I order helps me not to mind having to wait 3-4 minutes to order. In my opinion the best thing on the menu is the steak fingers. Here's a little secret, order them with cheese fries to make the meal even better! The steak fingers, like most everything, comes with a pretty good portion of fries and there is an appetizer order of cheese fries available. But, if you want to get the best meal ask them to make the fries that come with your meal cheese fries. Trust me! The burgers here are also very good and I appreciate the fresh condiment bar that allows me to make the burger six inches taller with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, tomatoes, pickles, and more tomatoes. But I admittedly rarely order a burger anymore because I'm in love with the hand battered/cut steak fingers.

A good old smash 'em on the griddle top style burger. Good exterior crisp and with pleasing interior moistness. Plain smooth top bun. Wide variety of tea flavors and push-top bottles to pump a little extra flavor into your drink. They have the French Fry thing down good. They Come out hot, with crispy outside and soft center which does taste mostly like a tater. My wife likes the onion rings. They've figured how to make those, too. Friend ordered a chicken fried steak sandwich. Looked authentic but I couldn't convince him to break me off a piece. The fix'ns bar is clean and well stocked. Two unusual choices: a real dill pickle thinly sliced, cut length wise. Also, a super tasty, finely minced pico that was well balanced between flavor and heat. If you're a regular burger kind of guy, there is no real reason to go anywhere else.

Quality food. Real burgers without all that "fast food" filler junk. I really enjoy coming here and their buns are really something to run home about.

First - I hadn't been here since 1997 when I last lived in Lubbock. The burgers and cheese fries are still pretty good and I would come here more often if I hadn't found a hair grilled into the meat of my burger on 01/25/2021. I've visited Buns for carry out a few times since COVID-19 hit. They have a "salad bar" type set up where you can choose lettuce, tomatoes, etc for your burger. You are now given your own plastic tongs to grab what you need and then you place the used tongs in a container. I think this is a suitable way to prevent cross contamination - if only they made sure their employees were practicing infection control measures, too, I'd give them more stars. On at least 2 occasions, the cashier either didn't have a mask on or was wearing it below her chin. None of those handling food are wearing hair nets or gloves. I was halfway through my burger this last time when I got to the cooked-in hair, which spoiled the whole meal. I will think twice before eating here again. Hopefully they'll start implementing infection control measures.

Boom! Holy Moly! I just had Buns over Texas for this first time! woo wee! delish! We were on our way to burger-fi and saw the sign and I love to go to places I havent been before so we stopped in. mmmmm good! we were disappointed with fudds a few weeks ago, this place has a similar concept but they still care so it was way better! and my cheese tots were off the hizzy! not to mention they playful clerk that took my order bagging on me for my shades. she was fun, and i like when people dont act drones. it was really good. as always peep the epic pics!

It had been a few years since we have visited this place so we decided to come give it a try. It kind of seems like a retirement home in here. I suppose old people need to eat too though. There is some lady talking very loudly at the counter about how she wanted some illegal immigrant from El Salvador to go to prison. Stranger conversations have been overheard before. The inside is packed together for maximum capacity which is good because it's a full house today and we would be getting the food to go otherwise. First thing you'll notice is the place hasn't really changed much since I was in high school. Same booths, same inside set up. I ordered a large burger on a white bun with cheese. Tator tots and a large cheese fries. Big mistake. As much as I can eat in a sitting, I couldn't finish the fries. The portions were much bigger than I was expecting even though the large is only an 8oz patty. The burger was filling and actually really dang good. I'm not much for burgers that aren't grilled but this place has a good thing going for them. I can't believe I don't remember, from my last outing here, how good the food is. It is a definite winner with me. The price was good. 3 of us ate combo meals with a large cheese fries and it was 23$ and change total. The service wasn't exceptional or anything memorable. People were busy working and they were friendly. Overall that's all that matters to me. I will be back soon for another excellent burger. This place destroys Caprock Cafe with taste, service, and overall experience. (Caprock was wrongfully voted "best burger in Lubbock"). Bring your family and enjoy!

Horrible customer service, burnt bacon. Was advised all bacon is crisp today. There is a difference between burnt and crisp. They have great burgers but service is dismal at best.

Great burger joint with very tasty 100% real beef burgers. I had the large burger on wheat bun, and my family of four shared the double cheese fries. It was wonderful after a long day of travel. If you're staying on the south side of Lubbock, Texas near 289, find this place. Great service and great food make for a good family dinner.

My burgerbwas still pink in the middle. I didnt send it back... I just ate the cooked parts and left the raw center. It was good sized and good priced. I had eaten at another burger place nearby that was AWESOME but a little more pricey.

Had it for the first time today and it was damn good! Had the large burger with bacon, toasted buns and it was delicious! Fries are good as well! Plus for me was they had different aguas frescas mmmmm!! Will definitely go back!

This is a staple in my family due to how close it is to our house. They have a large seating area and a toppings bar. That means when you order you burger they can't mess it up! I usually get the kids burger with bacon and it is enough to fill me up. Their ranch is to die for. I drench my fries in it and sometimes even out a little on my burger! Their bacon is woven! Making every bite have the perfect amount! I also like how you can see into the kitchen. It doesn't hurt that every time an order is ready they announce, "Chelsea, your buns are up". Love it Hahaha.

Spent the night at the Clarion down the street and needed to grab some dinner. Went to this place and ordered the large burger and a salad. The burger came with an option for a wheat Hun which was much appreciated and it was tasty, too. The burger meat was just right and the salad was actually a good size which made me very happy. The condiment bar for the hamburgers was awesome and the pickles sliced longways - whatever they were were some of the best pickles I have had in a long, long time. Planning on going back here next time I am in Lubbock. Oh, prices were decent, too!

Went to Buns Over Texas with my family for the first time in several years. But it's just about as I remember. Decent burger, no better than Fuddruckers, at a decent price. The fries were decent. The highlight for me was the variety of sauces and toppings for my burger. And just like fuddruckers it is DIY. So if you want a salad on your burger, have at it. The atmosphere was alright, but the heaters were on and the ceiling is low so it felt like walking through a blasting sauna.

Goood God that was a great burger! Added bacon and I could taste it in every bite! Fries were impeccable; will be back the next time I'm in Lubbock for work!

We were visiting from out of town, and our friends suggested we get this for dinner. It was out of this world good! Anyone can make a hamburger. Not just anyone can make a fantastic hamburger! Affordable, delicious, and their ranch is good too. It seems like ranch is the universal condiment nowadays. As much as this grieves me, my wife judges an establishment on how good, or bad, their ranch is. Ladies, the ranch here is legit, per my wife. So, if you are new to town, or from out of town, or have been drinking away a Texas Tech loss like our group, drive on over to Buns Over Texas and have a treat, or post day drinking snack.

First the good -- the portion size is excellent, the buns and bacon delicious. We ordered delivery and the toppings (tomato, lettuce, onion, pickle) were served in a separate container, which kept them fresh. Now for the not-so-good. I was so looking forward to a nice, juicy burger. Unfortunately, I guess you must specify if you don't want your burger overcooked. The patties are very large, but there was not a speck of juice; they were so hard and dry it was like eating wood chips. The onion rings were very good.

Burgers a pretty big and super filling. Love the fact the bun is toasted and agree with everyone else the topping bar is great! I also added cheese to my fries they became a bit too greasy for my liking but still were pretty ok. The establishment itself has a old school diner theme with lots of seating.

While this is obviously a good place to get a burger, my favorite thing is the cheese fries. Oh man- so good. Great place to go if you want a burger!

This is one of my favorite places to go when I'm back in Lubbock. You put the toppings on yourself, so it's not veggy skimped. Everything is made from scratch, literally. The prices are good for the amount of food you get. If you haven't tried this place, it is definitely an option to consider when in Lubbock or Amarillo.

Wonderful local Burgers! My family and I go here once a week. Service, food and friendliness is definitely a big deal with the owners. Always a great experience.

It was food and that's about it. Atmosphere - they seemed to be aiming for 50's dinner and hit truck stop. Food - Hamburger was a burnt lump of tasteless meat. $0.95 for a slice of processed American cheese they probably picked up in Sam's Club for about $0.10 a slice. Fries were overcooked and no real seasoning to speak of. At the table they had a seasoning salt that wasn't any better. Overall - it wasn't awful, I've had better and at least the place was clean but I wouldn't eat there again.

This is defiantly a high class taste for the best burger's around this area. However my family and I have been eating here for awhile and it's always been decent, by the time we usually arrive there sometimes their teas aren't all the way full there is a little trash on the floor but not too bad. Clean restrooms. My latest visit however did not leave me satisfied the food and beginning service was great, but the employee at the pick up area called out my sisters name we thought, so we went up there to grab the food and apparently someone else Togo and had the same name as my sister and the guy ran up to us snatched the bag and said rudely that's not your food. No apologies after and then tried to be nice but it was very uncalled for. We will probably still return eventually.

Visited for the first time yesterday afternoon. Upon arrival I was a tad bit concerned. There were only two other couples dining there. There was one very polite, and cute, young lady manning both the grill and the cash register. Needless to say she was "working her buns off...". Okay on to the real review... We ordered two of the large (8 oz) burgers on wheat buns with two sides of fries. The burgers were ordered well done and came out just perfect. Well done but not burnt. The ground beef was very good. The cheese on both burgers was tasty and the bacon on mine was great as well. The buns are served "naked" and you get to make a run to their "salad and fixins" bar to dress your burger as you please. Nice touch for sure. Tasty, tasty and tasty. The only thing that we will change on our next visit, and YES we will be going back, it to not order the fries. They were about average in my opinion. Not too greasy but just more or less bland tasting. We saw a few orders of onion rings go past us on other diners plates and they looked really good so we will give them a try next time. All in all a good first visit and we will be returning again.

Gave us a vip card and refused to take it. Even though they honored it the day before for the same order of food. Plus, the kid that we talked to was rude. I won't be taking any guest here again.

Buns Over Texas is my favorite burger place in lubbock. It's also one of the best priced. I got the regular hamburger, fries, & drink combo -it's only 6.75! The fries are seriously one of the best in my opinion and the burger is super solid. I asked for ranch for my fries this time due to another yelp review and it was a great choice, if you like ranch even a little give it a try. Good food (awesome fries) & good price
