This is one tasty burger.
For the American's reading this review lets get this out front. Beef in other countries tastes differently than beef from America. Don't expect to get an 'In-N-Out' burger in Ireland (I do love me some In-N-Out). I've eaten a lot of hamburgers in a lot of countries. This is a good burger.
I got a single and my fave got himself a double cheese. The menu is straightforward. It is literally on a business card. Single or Double. How do you want that cooked? Cheese or no. Fries hand cut, shoe string or sweet potato. Soda, Shake, beer or wine. Finito. That is the entire menu. Oh, and you get to choose toppings: lettuce, pickle, onion, tomato, ketchup, mustard, mayo or all of the above. Brilliant! If you don't eat beef, this is not your restaurant.
This location is in Temple Bar, and we had to wait over 30 minutes for a table which we were told is normal. I found out later there is another location near St. Stephen's Green. Maybe that one would have a little less waiting time? With a menu this concise, the turn over is pretty quick. Give the waitress your cell number and you'll get a text letting you know you are in the queue, then another when your table is ready.
Drinks are served first. There was a chalkboard listing beers they carry at one end of the dining area. Wine is 'red or white'. The waitresses aren't milling about checking on people. If you need another drink, flag her down.
From time to time you'll see a waitress came out of the kitchen carrying about a dozen orders stacked on top of each other. Each on it's own little tray. These are divvied up and taken to the appropriate tables. It did take a bit of time for the orders to come out of the kitchen but we didn't mind. It gave us time to check out the restaurant and talk about our trip. Once the food was delivered we didn't see the waitress again.
The burgers were well cooked, juicy and tasty. The bun is fresh and a good size for the burger. The toppings were in good measure; not too much or too little. The thin fries are quite good as well. I would totally have gone back for another meal if time allowed.
For a simple burger, this one makes a statement. Some times when you've been on the road a while, you want a break from 'local specialties' and need a burger. When that urge hits, give this one a try.
