Buon Appetito

We have been ordering delivery one day a week for at least 6 months now. Their food is consistently very good. Delivers on time always in 45 mins or less. Their grilled and breaded chicken are both absolutely stellar. Always tender and sliced perfectly. Their rigatoni pasta is very good with red sauce and vodka sauce. Their chicken Caesar salad is also very good. This is the best little local Italian in jersey city!

The clams in the pasta dish I ordered were not clean enough, resulting in a gritty texture with every bite. Additionally, the ratio of pasta to clams was disappointing, as there were only three clams in the dish and an overwhelming amount of noodles. Overall, I was disappointed with the dish.

I have been ordering from this restaurant once a week for almost a year because it is THAT GOOD. The pasta is always al dente, chicken cutlets are crispy and flavorful, I love the fresh bread they give with takeout orders, the sauces are delicious (especially the pesto cream and the vodka). Can’t recommend enough.

Worst Alfredo pasta I have had in a long time. As you can see from the picture, they practically send you straight up plain boiled pasta with a hint of Alfredo sauce. The staff is rude enough to say “deal with it”, when complained about over the phone.

First off I'm not a friend or family member to any of these guys. I'm a customer who discovered BA years ago on Grove street for the first time which also happened to be the day their building burned down and they lost their space. This place is a big cut above other places that might look like it. it's a real Italian deli and not a Pizza Joint (although they do serve pizza). Their food is cooked and prepared so well and so delicious - and the portions are huge. I'm lucky to have a place like this so close and I hope they will stay where they are for many years to come now that they have a new home. Well done, and thank you BA!!

I love Buon Appetito. Their stuffed chicken is amazing. Always order when have a group as everyone can get something and it's good. We call it our good old reliable.

Every time we order delivery from here the food is delicious, hot, and exactly what we ordered. The pesto sauce and the vodka sauce are both so flavorful, and the chicken cutlets are huge! Definitely would recommend for quick Italian takeout :)

This review is for Buon Appetito at its new location of 280 First Street, Jersey City, NJ. I really love the tastiness and freshness of the entrees and sandwiches at Buon Appetito.,They have a wide assortment of sandwiches and also beautiful looking salads in the display case. My friends and I love this shop. Managers Tony and Peter are pleasant and efficient in taking care of customers. I rate Buon Appetito 5-stars.

This place is consistently amazing! I usually stick to the pastas only but today I tried a wrap and WOW, I might have a new favorite. Alfredo & vodka sauce are solid. I love that they offer cavatelli as it's not a super popular noodle shape! The Italian wrap was *chefs kiss*. The delivery is always SUPER fast (I only order takeout from here!). My only complaint is that the prices have increased over the years (pasta dishes used to be $15.95 in '21 and now are $18.95 in '23) which I guess I can understand due to inflation, but it felt like a deal before and now it's something I only get every once in a while.. :(

The picture looks better than it taste, the flavor were ok but there was a max amount of cheese and a lot of ricotta cheese under.

Buon Appetito is a go to place for when we're starving or have a big group over and we want to eat Italian food! Their food always comes to us piping hot and it never disappoints. Favorites include bolognese with tortellini, chicken parm, chicken wings, meatballs, Italian salad with chicken.

Doesn't taste like real Italian food The food is tasteless and bland. No flavor, no salt, no seasoning no nothing. The mozzarella sticks are okay. The breading is too thick and the dipping marinara sauce is bland Alfredo penne pasta tasted like pasta with a sauce that came out of a jar. The eggplant Parmesan was a real disappointment. The eggplant was seasonless, soggy and tasted like breaded mush. The spaghetti and marinara was bland I do not encourage that you get food here if you enjoy authentic Italian or seasoned food. Such a disappointment!

We order here A TON! It's no frills Italian but it's incredibly fast and good for the price!

I started out getting the shrimp parm over Spaghetti and the tried the sausage n cheese over Spaghetti then moved to the lasagna with house salad!!!! My daughter said ma they deserve a reward lol!!! Great food made here %100

I just ordered Minestrone soup... It was zucchini, squash, carrot, potato, tomato... NO PASTA, NO BEANS... $6.95..... Sandwiches are good.. Every soup has been good... I literally am starving... I called and the gentleman who answered the phone was very nice and respectful.. He said this is the way we make it...... Please call it vegetable soup...

I really liked the way they made the eggplant parmigiana dinner with spaghetti. I've been here for this dish 2 times over the past month. Then, I went back today for the same dish and they changed the recipe for the worst. It's no longer made with thinly sliced eggplant, now it's cut into thick pieces, no sauce and not even cooked all of the way. New cook? New ownership? Don't know and don't care. Got my money back and will never go back to this place again. Ugh.

Woohoo! Wasn't sure what to expect based on reviews, but thankfully everything was edible and tasted good. My only recommendation is ventilating the fried calamari so it doesn't arrive soggy, but that's tricky so didn't take any points off. I'm a Bronx native so I don't expect any good pizza shops in Jersey! I ordered grilled chicken with linguini, calamari, garlic bread, and lasagna. Sauce was good too!

Peter, what are you guys doing bro? I had to call and confirm you and your bro are still running the place. There's all kinds of new add-on charges to stuff I've been ordering for years. An update has been made to your order. Order # 578010554682604 Summary of changes made: This additional charge is due to the special instructions. Cost of changes: $3.42 I understand inflation and cost of living but, it's ridiculous: 1) $2 charge to get Vodka Sauce on my pasta? OK 2) $1 to have the tomatoes on the Bruschetta "on the side" and not on top of the chicken? 3) Oh, and the buffalo wing? only Drummets? I like the Flat Wingette too. of the 10pcs, 9 are Drummets. Is the Wingets special order as well? C'mon man.

Crazy went in on Gay Pride and asked to use the restroom. They said it was not working. Then a man came out. I said so it does work. He said yes but you have to pay. Wow which one is it! IDK Not Gay friendly!

PROS 1. Best Freshly Made, Flavorful Meatball Parmesan Sandwich in Jersey City and it's Affordable $8.50. ($2.00 more for Fresh Mozzarella mmmm) 2. Good Slice of Plain Pizza.

Ordered chicken francese. They should rename it to "chicken francese flavored soup with linguine for $1 extra". As stated on the menu, it's supposed to include choice of pasta or rice. Nowhere does it say linguine is extra, nor did anyone tell me so when I placed the order. I wouldn't have wrote this review if the food was actually good. However, I was overcharged for food that sucks. Buyer beware.

Don't be fooled by the outside The food was excellent! The servers were as well! We will definitely be going there again! Our waitress gave us a tour of the place. Very impressive!

I'd give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. I would certainly recommend Buon Appetito to any fan of Italian. The service was attentive and helpful, the bread was soft and tasty, the main courses were well timed and delicious, and the dessert tasted good but slightly over cooked.

Can't put a price on a good meal...oh wait, you can ;) This chicken francese dish also came with a complimentary hair tasting.

This is a tiny restaurant (more like a takeout spot) in the heart of downtown JC, serving Italian food. We ordered a garlic bread and a vegetarian pizza. The garlic bread isn't as delicious as I expected - pretty average in terms of texture, flavors and taste. I would rate the pizza as slightly above average - it did remind me of a Papa John's or Pizza Hut, so not something I would be excited to order again. Overall, a bit disappointed with the food here.

We'll, someone decided to scam me and make an order on my card however, the customer service I have received by possibly an owner or a worker at this place was top notch. Incredible person who I can't thank enough - stopped the order for me, called me back to see how I made out. It's nice to see someone care. We'll done thank you- if I ever make it out to jersey from Long Island I will be there!

So I came here a couple weeks ago to grab a salad and garlic bread to go with the pasta I was cooking. Halfway through eating a noticed this bug on my salad. Pretty nasty and safe to say i will not be returning for a long time!

Ordered two subs and a pizza on a Saturday night with a delivery time quote of 45-50 minutes from grub hub. When it was fifteen minutes late I called the restaurant and was told "it already left, it should be there soon, sorry." Order didn't get here until twenty minutes after that and by the time it did, I had some seriously hangry children on my hands. The pizza was small and already cold. The subs were enormous, but the rolls they came on were both stale and my cheese steak was dripping grease. I wouldn't order from here again.

Honestly the best subs in JC. It's a hidden gem - and I'm picky. The best bread ever, fresh meats and cheese, and crisp veggies. They always follow order instructions and delivery is super fast and friendly. Highly recommend.

Value your life and those of your friends and family. Boycott this establishment until they follow current health requirements. This is a portion of NJ Governor Phil Murphy's executive order 122. We love this place. From the grilled chicken parmesan to the gigantic turkey sandwich and so many other things on the menu, we keep coming back because it's so delicious. Tony and Pete remember us and our orders and we're always in good hands.

I ordered from here on New Year's Day and was immensely satisfied. No issues with service or delivery. I used Yelp's Eat 24 app. I got a 14 inch pizza with pepperoni and onions. They don't skimp on the meat (see photo). Pizza is SOLID. The sauce is yummy, the cheese is salty, the dough is pretty average, but not too thin or thick. You can still do a proper New York fold. The wings were AMAZING. Fresh, the skin was so crispy and there was salt all the way to the bone. I actually like that they give you the buffalo sauce on the side because you can also enjoy the wings by itself. Honestly, even without the sauce I liked it, so with the buffalo it was that much better. We will definitely order from here again. It's a solid choice. I hope I don't run into the terrible service that they're known for.

Recently I visited Buon Appetito for a quick pizza pick up and was so thrilled I decided to do an update to my previous review. Fantastic pizza, the Meat Lovers is totally delicious. So are the regular pies with just one or two toppings. Their crust is crispy and thin, just how I like it. Fast, easy, and very friendly service. I met the owner, Tony and he was right back there making sure everything went smoothly and chatting up the customers. I love this local treasure.

Fast and decent quality food. Not much else to say than their delivery guy was nice and the food was PIPING HOT. Appreciate that so much, will be reordering. Seems like a no frills kind of place. Their pesto pasta dish was exactly what I wanted.

We had great food from here! I'm reading a lot of negative reviews and I'm shocked, we thought it was quite good and we eat a lot of Italian around the city. All three pastas we ordered were nice!

Garlic flavor overwhelmed the mozzarella and basil pizza. Fresh Mozzarella was overcooked to a rubber consistency. Basil leaves were laid on top after pizza was cooked which may be a novel approach but missed the mark, The owner was pleasant though.

One star because the delivery guy was very pleasant and polite. So the only star they get is definitely not for the food. How do you charge $2.00 for mushrooms and use canned? This pizza is a disgrace to food. Fries--so rubbery and soggy. Eggplant parm a soggy flavorless mess. Heed the reviews. I wish I had.

Food's great! Probably the best pizza around the Bayville area! The owner is very nice and an all around great guy.

I have just ordered a dessert at the restaurant. Never heard of this Italian dessert before - sfogniatelle, and the staff was super nice and explained it in detail. They informed me that the wait is 30 min as it is made fresh. It was sooooo worth the wait! Super delicious, came warm straight from the oven and the staff was very welcoming. Will be back again!

Terrible food comes with a non satisfactory health code violation at this fake Italian food dive. Must do all delivery business which would explain why people don't walk out the min they see the health inspection. It's actually hard to fail one in Jersey City so they have achieved something hard to get done.

Super average pizza/deli. We placed an order for 2 sandwiches to go (an Italian and grilled chicken, Moss, and roasted peppers). It was supposed to take ~10 min, but was more like 20-25min. The grilled chicken sandwich could have used some balsamic so we added it on once we got home. The place was overall pretty messy. I also saw a dirty towel on the salami meat. Definitely a delivery/take out spot as the place was filled with drivers.

I order from this place often and was surprised to find out they're not 5 stars so I felt obligated to review. ‍ This is one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. I've tried their pastas, sandwiches, and a couple of different appetizers. With that being said, I have never been less than thrilled about the taste and/ or quality. What sets this restaurant above the rest for me is their acknowledgement of all notes and special requests whether it be an extra or a change to the dish. They really set a high standard for delivery; on top of being delicious! 100% recommend

We've ordered from here for 2 years. Decent food and service. But tonight was a game changer. We asked for extra cheese on a sandwhich when we placed our order at 5pm. Buon Appetito called me at midnight telling me I owed them $2 for the cheese. I was taken aback by the phone call (I was asleep) and looked at my sandwich wondering if this phone call was even warranted. Please see the photo attached. There is NO EXTRA CHEESE at all. Never ordering from here again. I don't like being taken advantage of, not sure who these people think they are - but this is unacceptable. You lost our business.

Love love love this place!! I believe it's takeout only during Covid as they don't have outdoor seating. I always order the pasta bolognese and it never fails to impress me. Their pasta dishes are better than all the other more expensive restaurants on grove st. Highly recommend.

Received a sub with a dead cockroach inside. They were supposed to retrieve the bad food from us for our refund, but never arrived, and left us waiting for 1.5 hours. We used to love this place before our experience today, but will never return. Please save yourself the hassle as they obviously don't care about cleanliness.

Friends of ours were over, and recommended this place, and i can't thank them enough for introducing us to the restaurant. We ordered a pizza, and some wings - and from then on, i've been hooked! The pizza is good, and i'm not taking away from it, however their wings are great. they serve them dry, with buffalo sauce on the side, as well as the blue cheese dressing. The chicken is cooked perfectly, and remains nice and crispy. then you dip it into their sauces, and its a great buffalo wing. They also have some great sandwiches. We had an Italian sub, and it really good. They have a ton of other food that we still need to try...

If you go into the store you'll have such a better experience. We love the pizza and pasta from Buon but the delivery SUCKS BIG TIME!!! The food consistently arrives cold. I'm only a 5 minute drive from them and I can't understand why it happens. If parking in Jersey City wasn't so ridiculous, I would pick up every time just to have a fresh pie!!! The 2 stars is just for delivery!!

For starters, me and my coworkers order from here multiple times a week. We usually get the same order repeated but the last couple of times the chicken fingers have been burned. We didnt call because we understand its lunch rush hour and what not and people arent perfect. This time (the 4th time) we decided to call. The chicken was dry and dark brown (see picture). We were going to ask if for next time the chicken not be cooked the same but when I spoke to someone they put me on hold for a moment and then asked me if the chicken was black because " [she] wouldn't send out black chicken" and I explained the past incidents and the current chicken we had received. And her excuse was "Well I have to make sure the chicken is cooked inside too." Seriously? A restaurant that has to burn food to make sure its cooked?? That doesnt make sense since the other food was great.

This is a pizza only review. If you want a real, tasty, no frills New Jersey slice of pizza, this is where to order it. I was lucky enough to live across the street from this place for a year, but even if I didn't I'd still order from here. It's one of the best pizzas you can get in Jersey City as far as I'm concerned. The flavor is right, the price is right, and when you're looking for a simple pizza that's really all that matters.

I used to enjoy ordering from this restaurant because the food was good but after this last experience with them I will have to think, at least 3 times, before ever beginning to dial their number again. I've ordered many things off their menu and decided that I wanted to give their buffalo wings a try. On their menu it says this: Buffalo Wings: (10)............. 6.95 (20)............. 11.95 I wasn't having a party so the 40 and 60 options didn't matter. The price for the 20 piece sounded like a great deal so my husband placed the order on the phone. All of a sudden all these questions popped up: "Breaded or No Breading?" (No Breading) "Bone in or Boneless?" (Bone In) "What Type of Sauce?" (Wait, what? Buffalo sauce, you know, hot sauce) We scratched our heads because none of these options are even mentioned in the menu, whatsoever, but we went along with the order. We also ordered a medium cheesesteak and my husband went to pick up the food. When he came back I asked how much it came out to. He goes "$28 something". Whoa wait, the total should have been around $21 and some change. So naturally I'm wondering what the hell happened. My husband called the restaurant and spoke to someone on the phone. They told him that what he ordered was something called "Atomic Wings" and that that's a different price than the buffalo wings. NONE of this was mentioned on the phone when we placed the order. Not a single "hey this option costs more". Because silly me for thinking that buffalo wings are bone-in, non-breaded wings with actual buffalo sauce on them. My mom was fuming and decided to call the restaurant herself to get an answer as to why the hell none of this is mentioned on their menu. First thing out of the mouth of the person who picked up the phone was "Ugh, I thought we handled this already??". Wonderful start. My mom was then handed to, who she was told was, the manager who then proceeded to get irate on the phone with my mother about how what we ordered aren't actually buffalo wings and if we want what we thought the price was for, that we should bring the food back and they exchange it. They never even explained what these "Actual Buffalo Wings" are. My mom pointed out that we had already eaten one of the wings so they said "oh well" and when my mom got pissed off, they hung up the phone on her. Just hung up. There's a secret menu in this restaurant that apparently only the assholes who run it know about and they will upcharge you for anything they'd like. They even tried to charge me $3 dollars extra once when I asked them for a chicken parm sandwich with the chicken in a separate container. Just forget this place.

I ordered a plain chicken cutlet sandwich with lettuce and tomato through Grubhub. I put in the notes that I would like ketchup and mayo on the side. I even called to make the request because I was having it delivered to work. I did not receive ketchup or mayo and it wouldn't have been a big deal if the sandwich was not painfully dry and stale. No flavor to it at all and the ketchup and mayo would've really helped. Most likely not going to order from here again because it was annoying how careless they had to be to not throw in a couple of packets of what I asked for.
