Burg Gutenberg

Stunning Views, but Check the Calendar! Burg Gutenberg is an absolutely beautiful place to visit. The castle itself is well-maintained, and the views overlooking Balzers and the surrounding mountains are spectacular. It’s a perfect spot for a hike or some photography. A quick tip for visitors: The castle interior and its chapel are only open during a limited period each year. Usually, the season runs from May 1st to October 31st, and even then, public access to the inner courtyard is typically restricted to weekends (Sundays specifically for the chapel). Because the schedule can change for private events or weddings, I highly recommend checking their official website before you make the trip. Even if the gates are closed, the walk up the hill for the scenery is still worth it!

History here begins in the 12th century, when a medieval church was built here, and the first mention of a castle dates back to 1296. Situated on a 70-meter-high rock, it looks magnificent from a distance or directly next to it. It is one of the classic landscape views of Liechtenstein.

We got there too late to go inside the castle, but the castle, grounds and views were amazing. Very picturesque and peaceful. It is a bit of a walk up a hill to get there, but the views are totally worth it. I'd love to visit again and go inside.

Even without touring the interior, a visit to this castle is highly rewarding. The walk up the hill is pleasant and offers a fantastic close-up view of the historic fortifications. Its striking silhouette against the mountain backdrop is incredibly impressive, and the panoramic views over the village and the Rhine Valley from the terrace are some of the best in the region. A must-see landmark that is just as captivating from the outside.

The walk in might be hard for some people but if you are up for it then the views are worth it! Climb the grassy hill to the left before the final ascent for amazing panoramic view!

A pleasant little castle in the centre of town. The views of the surroundings is nice and clear. There's also drinking water faucet, which is perfect for hot days.

It was so good! I definitely recommend it to you. You need to walk about 15 minutes up hill, but it isn’t too bad and the view is sooo worth it 😊😀
