10 Offbeat Things to Do in Istanbul (Updated 2025)

"Taking a ferry out to the Prince Islands felt like a peaceful getaway from the city's crowds: this chain of nine car-free islands (most visitors hit the four larger ones—Büyükada, Burgazada, Heybeliada, and Kinaliada) offers historic buildings, tasty cafés, pretty homes, and easy exploration by walking, bicycle, or horse-drawn carriage; plan to take an early ferry, the trip takes 1.5–2 hours depending on the island, round-trip tickets are around 45 TRY, and guided tours (with transport, a local guide, and lunch) are about 650 TRY." - Matthew Kepnes

Off the radar: Pine trees and cerulean seas off the coast of Istanbul - SilverKris

"A smaller neighboring island with a split character: parts show clear human activity and village life, while other stretches feel wild and unspoiled—evoking a secluded, almost ‘Castaway’-like atmosphere in places." - Sarah Lempa

Burgazada truly is a little paradise on earth. I used to always go to Büyükada until I discovered this gem. It’s genuinely a place for relaxation and enjoyment. The blend of greenery, forest, and sea is absolutely beautiful. The summer homes here are stunning, offering the most breathtaking views. I must admit, I’m a bit jealous of the people who live here. It’s the perfect place to rest both body and soul. It’s not crowded, and there are some really lovely spots for walking. While it doesn’t offer as many activities as Büyükada, this is definitely a place that connects you with nature. I’ll absolutely be returning to this little paradise.

A beautiful, peacful Island for spending time, which has supermarket, craft store, coffee shop and restaurant. You can see parts of the Island by buying a tour bus ticket for 52 lira per person( but I do not recommend it duo to the short duration of the tour...) The Island has beautiful views of the sea which is a pleasure to watch...

Very Beautiful island with amazing views, not too much to do on the island itself other than swim(when it is warm enough) walk around/explore and eat food but it is really peaceful and would recommend checking out atleast once.

In my point of view this island is the best between the others in Istanbul and you should 100% visit it. Fabulous Architecture and beautiful houses with charming views. There’s such a cafe at the beach with delicious sweets and cakes. Go and try it. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the cafe. For me it was more beautiful than BÜYÜKADA.
