Some of the best burgers I've had in a long time. They remind me of homemade burgers I had as a child. Fresh and delicious.

Janay Wilkins

Google
We attempted to visit Burger Island tonight for the first time. We arrived at at 8:30PM the sign is lit and says open. Also online is notes they close at 9:00PM. Tried both door for them to be locked and looked into to see the employee watching the game. The photos is after we returned back to the car. You can clearly see the sign says open and the clock in the car shows 8:34PM. There was another couple who pulled up shortly after attempted to open the door and the worker came to it letting us know it’s closed. Very disappointing.

Google
Stopped by for weekday lunch and ordered Jalapeno Cheese burger with fries Food was served to the table in few minutes. Burger was great but fries were oily but tasted ok. For the price I would recommend this place for quick bite

Michel González

Google
The burgers are delicious but the service is beyond outstanding. I was greeted upon entry, the young man that took my order was polite and very friendly. They they had my order out quick and he made sure to hand deliver with a smile. This spot has to be on the top 10 list of local burgers.

Google
The burger was absolutely delicious—one of the best patties I’ve had in a while! I asked for sautéed onions, and they nailed it, but they also included the other veggies I had asked to leave off. Not a huge deal, but a little inconvenient. The diner itself has a cute, old-school vibe. Overall, a great spot with tasty food and fairly solid service.

Google
The service was friendly and nice. The food was pretty dang good, and I'm definitely going to share the location. Prices were not too bad either. They are nothing to complain about. It is most definitely beating the other fast food chain burger joints around it.

Google
I am always on the hunt for a good turkey burger and let me tell you I have officially found the best one! I am such a picky pain in the butt when it comes to burgers and especially turkey burgers. I was not a fan at first when I pulled up to the place and that was just my little bougie behavior but let me tell you I was wrong for it and apologize! The food is delicious and the service was so friendly. The young lady that works there is a beautiful Jenny Ortega look alike and she had the best energy and assured us a great burger. She was Right! My friends and I will drive back 30 minutes any day we have a chance to eat here.

Google
We moved from Fort Worth, we miss our little holes in the wall with amazing food. We traveled far to find out one our best spots was closed permanently. We then happened to find this spot by chance. I don’t know where to start, friendly staff, AMAZING food, beat burgers in town by FAR!! They do seem a little understaffed with only two people but whatever time they take it is worth the wait. Fries make it or brake it for me and these fries are perfectly seasoned. Burgers are juicy and large, i cant say enough about the burgers, you’ll keep coming back for more, i guarantee it.

Denise H.

Yelp
Oh man, this place is a gem! If you want a juicy well cooked burger this is your spot. I ordered the Jungle Burger It has sautéed onions, mushrooms, jalapeños, provolone & American cheese, bell peppers, bacon, and your sauces. I couldn't have been happier with my choice. It's hearty and a more greasy than I would ever choose but on this day it's what I wanted and it delivered. It also helps the bread is regular so that's a nice touch to no be overwhelmingly greasy either Fries are sold separately but trust me the burger is big and more than enough! The second burger was the Hawaiian cheeseburger: It was just as delicious, I did feel the pineapple was not sweet at all and didn't really bring much of its flavors to the burger. I look forwarded to going back and trying something different!

Chat A.

Yelp
We had the animal burger and Philly cheesesteak with fries. The meat on the cheeseburger was still uncooked on one side. The meat they used in the Philly was corned beef (meat for a Reuben sandwich) and over cooked and too salty. The fries were also over fried. The service was pretty slow, I'm guessing the young man was being trained, they were only 2 employees working. The place was pretty clean though, that's why I gave 2 stars and both guys were courteous and apologetic for making us wait too long.

Mel M.

Yelp
Food is amazing, customer service is awesome, establishment was spotless & their prices will keep me coming back

Erika C.

Yelp
Ohhh emm gee!!! My burger was thee bomb!!! I mean a real homemade Patty. I ordered the mushroom burger/fries. Them fries!!! Ohhh the seasoning sprinkled, deelissshh!!! I am oh so satisfied

Nancy H.

Yelp
Best burgers hands down and the service was great! My onion rings were still very much crispy and warm after a 30 min drive home! Food did not disappoint!!

Jim H.

Yelp
Greasy, greasy greasy yet oh so good! And all of their burgers are massive! It makes any of the burgers from other fast food restaurants look bite sized. All of their burgers pass the napkin test. I usually need 8-10 napkins to finish my burger without making an entire mess all over myself. Their burgers are juicy and always topped with A LOT of toppings. My usuals are the Jungle Burger or Jalapeño Cheeseburger. The Jungle Burger is basically has "everything but the kitchen sink" thrown in it. You may need to call in reinforcements and use a fork and knife after a few bites in. The Jalapeño Cheeseburger is a spicy take on a classic. The peppers are grilled too so it doesn't cool down the burger too much. Spicy, cheesy and juicy... what's not to love? You can make any of their burgers into a combo with the addition of fries or onion rings or you can order a full size of fries to share instead. However, the fries are a hit or miss, so if you take to go, I recommend throwing them in the air fryer for a bit to get crisp them up a bit. Overall, a great burger place to grab a quick bite to eat.

barry k.

Yelp
I've enjoyed the jungle burger and the mushroom cheeseburger, their French fries are good but needs to be asked to cook longer to get more crispy then normal delivery. I didn't care much for the onion rings but would try again, deep fried mushrooms are the bomb. We will keep coming back, the amount of food and size of sandwiches makes this place a regular go to for a great burger and fries and fried mushrooms. Clean open seating, parking in front.

Mark G.

Yelp
Why do the best burgers come from dives like this? Don't let the exterior (or interior) scare you off. The double jungle burger was a huge, sloppy (in a good way), and delicious. Can't wait to try some of their other unique burger offerings (pizza burger, Hawaiian burger). The service was super friendly, fast, and the food was fresh and hot. Definitely give this place a try!

Tatyana B.

Yelp
Went here for lunch with my co-workers , come early because it gets super busy. I can't speak for the burgers, but the Philly cheese steaks are really good. I've lived in Philly before and have had cheese steaks from Joe's & Pat's and these are very comparable. Meat is tender and flavorful, chopped right. The cheese melts right on top and makes it gooey and delicious. The bread is soft and they toast it really well. I also got the seasoned fries on the side...thought they were a bit pricey for fries but the seasoning they used does give extra flavor. Don't be scared by the greasy flat top or the decor...the grease makes everything taste so good. If they remodeled and made it a bit cleaner i'd give them an extra star. Will defiantly be back for more cheese steaks.

Whitney K.

Yelp
If you're looking for an authentic, hand-formed, grilled patty, this is your place. No bells or whistles in the dining area, but you don't need it - the burgers speak for themselves. This has become a new favorite when I'm in the area, and it hasn't disappointed. Don't sleep on Island Burger if you have a hankering for a real-deal burger & fries. My fave? I love the bacon cheeseburger. If you're hungry and have someone to share with, splurge and get the fried mushrooms, too.

Jakob O.

Yelp
A great find for anyone looking for a quality burger! Everything is made fresh to order and their menu has all of your favorite sandwiches and sides

Thomias M.

Yelp
Chili cheeseburger was mid ngl, I dont really eat fries so I didn't get any but they looked good. The ambience is nice. Friendly service, but the bathrooms look kinda unkept. Overall I enjoyed it. The entire combo (burger, fries, and drink.) would have cost about $15. I did enjoy the burger, but like i said it was just alright. Might try the jungle burger next time.

Marina R.

Yelp
So good! So this little place is in a small shopping strip. When you enter you walk into the register so you place your order there, and then to your left you can see everyone cooking and preparing your meal. I visited this week so its during COVID - everyone was wearing masks and they were all wearing gloves. They also allow you to dine in. I tried their burger with the mushrooms and grilled onions - it was heaven sent. It was also HUGE like as big as my head. I also ordered the fries - I wasnt too fond of these they seemed freezer burnt and unseasoned. I would return and get the same burger but maybe try the onion rings instead. Someone sitting beside me said that they are better than the fries. Xo.

Stephaniah A.

Yelp
I should've took a before & after picture but it's okay. Burger was good , fries were yummy & I dipped them in their ranch . Definitely my new burger spot when I'm feeling meaty lol

Daniel C.

Yelp
This is my go to spot whenever I'm looking for a keto friendly meal that hits all my macros. Burger Island will not deliver the most eye appealing meals but they surely deliver on taste. For this lunch run I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with no bun and the beef salad. The meat on both the burger and salad are cooked and seasoned well. The burger patty is definitely made on the spot since it has absolutely no symmetry. The salad is very basic with the 1lb of beef being the main focal point. The ranch dressing is tasty and they always include extra without asking. My buddy also ordered the bacon cheeseburger with a side of sweet potato fries. She enjoyed her meal and agrees that the taste is spot on. The price point for their burgers are reasonable for the size. Overall if your looking for a tasty filling meal this is the place to go. If your looking for more show than taste you will be disappointed here. If you decide to give it a shot I recommend their jungle burger, it has an explosion of flavors.

Mark v.

Yelp
This is a fantastic little burger joint. I travel from Ft. Worth to eat here about 4 times a year: my usual is a Double Jungle Burger all the way, fried mushrooms, and large soft drink. It is the only meal of the day and a darn satisfying one. I highly recommend Burger Island for the best burgers in DFW. The french fries are top drawer and with ketchup are to die for. I already ate every scrap of the meal or I would've taken a picture. Burger Island - the best!

Sherene A.

Yelp
Ok, so I've seen this place for YEARS. Its a hole in the wall burger joint...so that's amazing right off the bat and it's next door to a tax service place and botanics. Amazing. I called up around 2pm and asked for a big island burger (no mayo) and a side of small fries. $9.68 plus $2 for a take out tip and I was on my way. No idea what to expect. They said...10-15 and when I walked in 12 min later....it wasn't ready but 14min in, they were sliding peppers and onions onto the patty on the grill and plating. So pretty accurate estimate. The employees were really friendly, professional and kind. So onto the burger...pics were taken riiiight after they were packed. I tried a fry, they were really well seasoned and crispy The thing is....by the time I made the drive home...the heat and humidity in the styrofoam had worked their magic and they were fairly ... Not crisp haha. And the bottom bun of the burger was soggy AF. Like...they put the pickles there and it's almost like they slapped super wet picked with a lot of juice on the bun. Which..is just annoying. I just wrapped a paper towel around the burger to hold it while I ate. So, the burger is solid. It's a HUGE serving. And they do NOT skimp on the toppings. But theitself patty is so so so SO flavorless. I tried a piece of the patty on it's own and it's EXACTLY like if you were to cook meat in a pan and not season it a smidge. And that's a HUGE detriment to the entire experience of eating a burger. The thing that makes the burger doable, is that they STACK it with toppings. Will I be back, nah. I eat a burger like 4 times a year and if I'm gonna indulge in something so decadent ....I want the flavor to just pop. I highly recommend that you eat inside and don't take it to go...to save yourself a soggy as hell bottom bun and enjoy your fries crispy. Also...the shop has a "please wear a face mask" sign on their door...but ain't no one on staff wearing one...sooooo....you probably don't have to. Now...I choose to still mask up....but ...just a heads up.

Courtney D.

Yelp
I am at a loss for words with how good this burger joint is. When I walked in, everyone was friendly and greeting each other including some casual conversation with the regulars. Immediately I felt at home amongst the smell of delicious burger meats and spicy jalapeños grilling. I was a vegetarian just a few months ago. Now I do not regret switching off of it. The burgers are giant, but they do have an amazing combo deal of two burgers, one thing of fries, and two drinks for $17 that I would recommend if you are afraid of the size of these burgers. My boyfriend on the other hand cannot get enough of the fresh mushrooms, jalapeños, and grilled onions on the Big Island burger.

Teresa N.

Yelp
Accidentally found this place while traveling through town. We weren't certain about the plain exterior but decided not to judge a book by its cover. The gentleman who took our order was super nice and even though he forgot part of our order, he apologized, brought it to table quickly. The food was outstanding. I had the Hawaiian burger and was not disappointed. I wish I had taken a photo but it smelled so good that I bite right in. The samples you see online, they're accurate.

Melanie G.

Yelp
Great service and amazing food! The cook Gilbert was incredibly friendly. Big Island Burger

Ava E.

Yelp
I was visiting from another city and came here because of the reviews. i walked in and could tell they were understaffed. i ordered my burger and sat down. i could see the kitchen while waiting i noticed the cook wasn't wearing any gloves working at the grill handling the meat and cheese. i was disgusted and could barely finish my food after he repeatedly would wipe sweat off his forehead with his forearm. i would retry with the right safety practices enforced.

El S.

Yelp
Amazing lil spot. Everyone there is always nice and food is always fresh. I eat here 2-3 times a week. They have a nice area to eat and the ambiance is cool. You can watch tv, drink a beer and have nice burger

Jason H.

Yelp
I think this place earns the 3.5 stars that they repute. Their burgers are good. Their sanitation is poor. Their workers depend on their mood. Take it to-go and enjoy!

Juan H.

Yelp
Ordered the plain hamburger and fries and they were both great. Open kitchen so you can see them making your order. Very large burger especially for the price. Older shopping center and a lot of people loitering outside but can't say it's the restaurants fault. Definitely a burger joint atmosphere.

Ali Sumair A.

Yelp
Really really sloppy place BUT burger is just F*****G good... must try jungle burger Stay away from stuff jalapeños

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Wow!!! Amazing burgers. Customer service is wonderful. Hand done the best burger joint in Carrollton.

Cassie G.

Yelp
Very good burgers and big portion of fries I had a veggie burger and the hubby had a bacon cheeseburger. He was impressed and where glad we were in the area

Ajax W.

Yelp
This place was a little ran down but I guess that's what makes the food so good. Love there burgers and portion sizes. Thanks for the great hot food.

Rick D.

Yelp
This may have been a hidden Gem in the past but is no longer! New owners cant even speak English! The lady owner took our order over the phone and absolutely botched it up! It was a good thing we verified the order when we got there. So that should tell you how bad it was. Let me just say that I have eaten their many times in the past and it WAS the hidden gem in Carrollton. But since the new owners took it over it has gone really bad. I believe in giving folks a second chance. and I did today, but guess what? the owner was the one putting the burgers together and when I got home my burger didn't even have the top bun on it! Hence my negative review for this place. avoid this place at all costs. Oh by the way, the soda fountain has about 8 choices. All but 3 were "out of order". Will never go back.

J D.

Yelp
Ridiculously good! No Bourgeois Burger BS here. Just big burgers with prime ingredients at a reasonable price. Had the big island burger to go and lets just say half of it made back home.

Zachary G.

Yelp
I called a friend to meet me there since I was picking up wood at Cedar Supply. I used to eat at BIsland all the time and knew the original owner. I ordered a Rare CB at 11:15 and waited 45 minutes to receive one at a little after 12 Noon that wasn't even Medium or pink. I took it back and apologized for having to return it but after waiting for FORTY FIVE MINUTES I really would appreciate having it cooked the way I ordered it. The cashier returned and said that was the best they could do and could not cook it any less. THEN WHY DID SHE ACCEPT THE RARE ORDER IF THEY CANNOT COOK THEM THAT WAY? But the fact she was argumentative and said it WAS RARE? WOW! Refunded me my money and my friend said his burger was not that good and not NEAR as good as Midway Point, Wild Turkey or Burger Street. IF you like smashed to smithereens flat DRY over cooked burgers this is the place for you. My friend and I will not be back NOTE: they are all individually owned and the different BIslands have different rules on Rare and Medium Rare and CAN be accommodating. I just wish she had told me when I ordered it RARE to save myself 45 minutes and I could have been to Midway Point in 10.

Onna B.

Yelp
I'm infuriated with my mom. I've lived in Carrollton for 2+ years and have been driving to the burger island in Irving because my mom gave me a bad review of this location . She had said the food is bad and not worth it. She couldn't have been more wrong. This location is bigger. Cleaner. More efficient. My burgers were delicious and I'll probably be back tomorrow. So happy I stopped by today! The jungle Burger is a must!

Enrique F.

Yelp
Real good burgers. I have came here for 2 years just now leaving review. Staff is friendly and great food love the seasoning.

Smokinronnie H.

Yelp
Hidden Gem of Carrollton. "The Best" chicken fried samich in the North Dallas area.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
The food is amazing. I had the mozzarella sticks and bacon cheeseburger. Everything was fresh and delicious! Would defiantly go back.

Glen P.

Yelp
Jungle Burger! Every time! BEST Fried pickles! Spears, not chips. Others I've gone with have enjoyed everything else they've tried.

Ashley W.

Yelp
I'm writing this as I sit here and eat my guacamole burger !! been meaning to write this review for awhile! I've been coming to burger island since I moved to Carrollton 6 mos ago. It is absolutely delicious ! If you're craving a no frills home style burger , you've found your place ! And they're never stingy with the guacamole here, always generous lol the staff is amazing and so friendly. They're always smiling and I mean real smiles not just polite smiles. Anyway, if you're near downtown Carrollton this spot is a hidden gem. Oh and if you've been coming here, they've remodeled. I really like what they've done to the place (repainted, added some art, and plants) Almost forgot to mention, the burgers here are very reasonably priced and during the week after 5 you can get two burgers, a large fry, and two drinks for under $15

Dan C.

Yelp
Was very pleasantly surprised by this place. Co-worker suggested we come here and holy cow glad I came! Got the Jungle Burger and fries. Burger was cooked just perfect and the toppings were fresh and ample. Fries were unique and tasty. Very friendly staff. Highly suggest this spot.

Meg S.

Yelp
Great food at a hidden gem! I recently was moving and in desperate need of a hamburger. Burger Island did not disappoint! The burger was huge and fresh. The fries were ok but some were soggy and not the best. I'm glad that I found this place as I was moving out of Carrollton because this would've been bad for my waistline!

Kristina V.

Yelp
BIG BURGERS! Ordered the hickory burger and the Hawaiian burger. They were big, juicy, yummy burgers. And I do mean big. I don't know of any place serving a burger this big. The prices were good. The onion rings were pretty good. That being said I am very picky about onion rings so that is a compliment. The sweet potato fries were pretty good also but could have been a little crispier. The drinks are large and you serve yourself. I will definitely go back. Thinking I will have to try the fried steak sandwich. We put off trying this place because we thought we read a review about it having a smell. We ate there and there was no smell and no problems with our order.

Olivia B.

Yelp
The young Hispanic girl that does the cashiering is absolutely horrible! She's rude, she's disrespectful, she doesn't pay attention and she was on the phone the entire time and then when she messed up our orders and try to give us burnt bread and I spoke up about it she just ignore the request I had to tell her three times to give me new bread! Then some people she knew who didn't even pay walked in and placed their order after me and she was more focused on getting them taken care of then she was the customers in front of her. The store did not close for another 15 minutes and she wanted to lock the doors because she wanted to continue on with her phone call that she was on the whole time that we were there. She needs to either be fired or retrain. This was my mothers first time going there and what a horrible experience! When I asked her what her name was she completely ignored me and got mad when SHE messed up my order! I've come to this location for years but not anymore! The cook was nice but I wish that he would have corrected her when she was being rude and out of line.

Rodney C.

Yelp
Burger Island off of Preston and Beltline... Had some fantastic burgers there and homemade not frozen fried pickles, Not exactly what we started out with and a ways from downtown Carrollton but definitely a new favorite spot. Got a 16 oz patty (Double Jungle Burger) for $8.50 it even had Bacon and Jalapeno. It fed my 3 hungry teenage Boys perfect, plus it was a Poke Stop.

Dan T.

Yelp
I live in L.A. The first place I want to come to when I visit Dallas is Burger Island. Huge, wonderful, greasy hamburgers. Great fries, and Texas Toothpicks are terrific. Don't say anything about the place, it is not Newport Beach, California! You want a great burger, you go here.

Rhonda S.

Yelp
While I love their burgers and fries, I cannot cope with the lack of ambience, so I get my food to go!!! That is, if the kids working there will sell me food 30 min prior to closing! So frustrating!!! I called to place an order for pick up at 8:25 PM tonight. The phone rang 20 times with no answer. I called back after a couple of minutes and they picked up after 8 rings. When I gave my order, I was told that they close at 8:00 PM which is contrary to both their signage as well as every on-line reference including Yelp and Zomata. When I questioned the hours, the girl that answered said "As long as I have worked here, we have closed at 8." This is simply not true. It's too bad because the burgers are the best tasting and the best bargain around, but the owner of this establishment is paying employees that do not care about the business or the clientele. Dear owner, I believe there are some job seekers out there that will prove to be trustworthy employees with a work ethic and loyalty. I recommend you serve up a few pink slips if you want to keep your business profitable.

Adam M.

Yelp
I *want* to like this place. Honestly, I haven't had the issues with food quality or service that other folks have, but good lord, the atmosphere feels cheap: a chunk of the east side of the place (where the seating is) is walled off and I wouldn't complain if the wall actually reached the ceiling. But what struck me the most was to the right of the soda machine, where an unidentified liquid with black suspended particles had leaked out from somewhere beneath the napkin dispensers (which were empty). I wouldn't feel comfortably trying to take someone else here. I might grab a burger for myself again if I were passing by, but that's my health I'm playing with, and I'm going to get the burger to go. Maybe try it, maybe conclude they're doing better than they were, but for now I'm in no hurry to go back.

Elaine S.

Yelp
Burgers were soggy. Service was terrible. There's a slice of melted cheese used on the chili cheese fries. And even the coke machine was filth

Tommy C.

Yelp
Great old fashion home made to order foods. The atmosphere is down to earth. Feel like you are eating at home!

Art C.

Yelp
First time I came here, I almost turned around and left after opening the door. I wasn't expecting a dive. Don't get me wrong - dive joints can have great food. I just wasn't expecting it based on the review I had read. I checked the sign outside. Yep, this was the right place. The burger was cooked just right, and was both huge and delicious. My subsequent trips there were as much to enjoy the food, as to try and figure out what they were doing so I could replicate it at home. I eventually got to where I could make a pretty good knockoff. So it has been a while since I've been to B.I., until today. The main change is in the "decor". The mix-match of chairs that appeared to have been picked up at a variety of garage sales are gone, replaced by a couple of dozen stackable conference-room chairs. At first glance, the tables appear to also match, but are actually the same hodge-podge of tables, but all covered in the same green vinyl. And I counted no less than five different varieties of booth seating. Gotta love it. The burger was still excellent. However, I once again ordered the onion rings, despite recalling that they're mediocre at best. Hopes for improvement were dashed. They are no better than store-bought frozen rings. Sonny B remains the king of the ring. So next time you're in the Old Downtown Carrollton area, and you don't feel like eating at Babes or at Sid's Rainbow Grill, come to the Island. Just stick with the French Fries.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Another solid choice for lunch right around the corner from my work. We get Burger Island a few times a month. The burgers are HUGE. I've never been able to finish one, so one burger becomes 2 lunches for me. My favorite is the mushroom swiss burger. Sugar Bear loves the pizza burger. I'm not a fan of fries ever, so I don't usually get them and I give them away if they are here. Their onion rings are droopy and greasy. BI's jalapeno poppers are OK, but not the best. Stick with the burgers because that is where this place shines.
