Burke & Wills Hotel

Stayed here twice on my recent trip to Australia, and both times I was happy with the rooms. Not at all noisy, beds were comfy. Bathrooms were clean. On the second stay I took advantage of the breakfast buffet and found everything to be fresh. Sausages and bacon were not greasy and eggs were poached the way I like them.

Placed in the middle of town, great location. The rooms are well set out, newly fit out and clean, while the aesthetic is sympathetic to the age of the hotel. Service is exquisite. We also had the buffet breakfast in the morning - a great option of well-prepared food. Again the service was great, and the level of monitoring and refreshing of the food by kitchen staff showed a level of care I haven't seen in some time. Overall, a wonderful experience, and the only place we will stay when returning to Toowoomba.

We've had not the best front of house customer service before, but this time around, lovely Lynda who helped us yesterday and today was an absolute pleasure to talk to. ❤️ The breakfast crew girls were so helpful and friendly. Thanks for a wonderful stay. ☺️

Rarely do I find a hotel deserving of 5stars. This hotel is the exception. Every staff member, every department offered the same seamless service. Room offerings with coffee, tea, biscuits, mini bar was just right n more than expected. Free parking as you'd expect and well managed. Thx.

Lovely hotel. Clean, well maintained with modern amenities and a vintage feel. Service was immaculate, from check in to check out, with polite staff showing a level of care in all aspects that made our stay very pleasant indeed.

A very well run hotel establishment in a fantastic location. Our room type was cleverly well thought out, spotlessly clean and well serviced every day. The stand out was what was clearly an authentic country style home cooked breakfast. Highly recommended.

Burke and Wills is a beautiful hotel, and we enjoyed our stay. We stayed for four nights, and this was our second stay here at this hotel. |The positives for Burke and Wills Hotel:|- Absolutely beautiful hotel |- Hotel is situated right in the centre of Toowoomba, close to shops and restaurants|- Rooms are well appointed and lovely. There are power points beside the bed for charging devices. |- Hotel room has a minibar and offers room service. ||The slightly negatives:|- On arrival, when we checked in, we were advised there is a $100 per night charge that the hotel refunds after the stay. So for us was $400 charge to our debit card. Something to be aware of. I was disappointed with this charge as I think it’s excessive. Obviously in place in case we damage the room or run away with the mini bar I assume - quite ridiculous. |- Staff were not very welcoming or friendly as they were last time we visited. I think a welcome to a hotel is so important. ||Overall though, it was a lovely stay and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Very overpriced, I will stay elsewhere next time. The room is really pokey, theres an iron but no ironing board. The curtains are not black out, the sunrays come in early, the bed was ok, but if youre wanting a comfortable mattress topper, this is not the hotel for you. The breakfast buffet is not worth the money, very underwhelming experience. Much better quality cafes to have breakfast at, that are very close-by and easy walk. I ordered room service for dinner, the salmon was dry, so dry, it came on top of what I think was mashed potatoes, but honestly looked like vomit, it was pasty and cold. I found the front end staff to be less than welcoming. I stayed in room 304.

Zacks Pub lounge menu, where it's reasonable prices, food was average but decent for a lounge. Similar environment to an RSL. I wouldn't return as suited to an older crowd, be a good place to bring your granny. Customer service was great though.

We had dinner and drinks in the pub one night. The consensus was that it was overpriced for drinks. I thought it was overpriced considering the atmosphere is quite blah. It's old-school sports club, fluoro lighting, pokies, etc. Our meals were fine. Nothing to write home about, but tasty and reasonable.

I took a group of four out to Burke's Bar and Bistro for dinner. There was no real draw point or individuality to the restaurant's feel, music, decore or cuisine. I ordered the 350g rump with a side of chips and vegetables topped with mushroom sauce which was delightful aside from one small problem, the boiled vegetables were lacking in flavor which was a pity because the steak was well cooked and flavorful. The mushroom sauce was quite nice too, though there was very little of it. Being a bar there was a nice selection of drinks available, though I'd have preferred not to go to the bar each time I wanted a refill. The service was a little sparse, when we arrived there was nowhere that looked like a reception area and thus we were forced to ask at the bar for our table which was not for the number we had requested (it was reserved though). There were only two menus on the table to be shared between the four of us and with nobody forthcoming to take our order, we again found service at the bar instead. The only time the staff ever really made their presence felt was when they were packing up the surrounding tables wanting us to leave at a relatively early 9:15 on a Saturday night. The meals are paid when you order, which I liked as it removed the hassle of splitting the check at the end of the meal, likewise the drinks are also paid upon order. In short the food was good (aside from the lackluster vegetables), the staff were all but invisible and the atmosphere was absent too. There are better places to go for a good night out in Toowoomba. Go there instead. An utterly forgettable dining experience.

Pub review. The dining area is really REALLY badly in need of a renovation - but they make some really amazing 'home-style' and 'traditional pub' meals here. The portion sizes are pretty good and the prices are fair. I wouldn't say cheap but they aren't expensive. It is good for a casual meal with the family or friends.
