"Burkes Beach allows you to traverse Hilton Head Island’s idyllic coast. Wind along the Atlantic Ocean and snake slightly inland on a sandy path to Chaplin Community Park. If you’re lucky enough to be at Burkes Beach for high tide, you’ll notice water from the Atlantic flowing into a salt marsh, creating a makeshift creek to walk along." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We went to Coligny Beach Park, but it was too crowded, so we decided to come to this beach instead. However, it was busier than we expected as well. People were sunbathing, reading, napping, and fishing, while kids played in the sand or swam. Despite the crowd, it was a peaceful scene, and we had a great time. The beach is also dog-friendly and doesn's charge for parking.

I came here with my Dog, Elvis, burkes beach is a dog friendly beach, dogs are permitted on the beach before 10am and after 5pm - I’m not sure about the afternoon times, but you can find them on the beach website for confirmation. I came here for the sunrise and was not disappointed. The ease of free parking and closeness to the beach is so great, the parking lot is covered with trees giving lots of shade throughout. The beach is clean and taken care of, and of course my dog loved running around all morning

What a great dog friendly beach! We wanted to find a place to take our dogs to see the ocean, and we always search for dog friendly beaches, and this was a great one! Easy to park, easy to walk down to, a lot of room to walk up and down the beach! We always keep our dogs on leash, and they did amazing here! It was a beautiful day! We got so lucky! There is a bathroom near the parking, and the way down to the beach I think you could even put a wheelchair on the path they have! It was a very nice area!

Parking is just before the beach. Also there is a bathroom, bike repair and inflate. They had one vending machine for drinks. The beach was very open. Lots of area for walkers, bikers, those walking dogs, and kids playing football. A few people were sunning, but most were walking! I really enjoyed walking in the waves, it is cooler so not many people down that far into the tide. I would visit again.

Great beach with fine sand and fewer people than nearby Coligny Beach. Good waves for boogyboarding or body surfing. Lots of room to make sand castles. Easy walk on a sand pad from the parking area.

Very nice area away from crowds. More peaceful since less crowded than some of the other beaches in Hilton Head. Definitely worth checking out because you see some cool stuff on the walk from the parking lot down from beach houses and next to restrooms. I really enjoyed it here

Burkes Beach is fantastic! Great Family beach. The Beach is very clean, Large and not nearly as crowded as some of our other beaches on Hilton Head Island. There is usually plenty of Parking available when we have been there (unless it's a holiday). The parking is $1 per hour which is very reasonable. There are teller machines that accept cash and credit card to pay for your parking space. There is a very long board walk to get down to the beach but worth the walk for sure! Burkes Beach, Folly Field Beach area gives you access to miles of beaches lining the Atlantic Ocean side of Hilton Head Island - The second largest barrier island on the East Coast! Hilton heads significant tidal swing gives our beaches a great mixture of hard packed sand to easily walk and ride bikes on as well as soft sands past our high tide line. I am a little bias as I love the low country that we get to call home, but this is a beautiful beach for sure. Our beaches seem to draw more of a family atmosphere verse the party crowd you see in other places. We Love Hilton Head and everything it has to offer!

What to say about Burkes Beach? What a great beach and breath of fresh air!!! The sand is amazing and great to work out on because your feet sink in a bit, which helps your knees when running. There are showers right before beach access and Chaplin Community Park is right there to park. The beach is very clean and it even has an area in which the water comes in and forms lakes inland and you can swim and fish around it. We got stung by jellyfish the day we went but it was still SO WORTH GOING!! Will return.
