"As much as you want to show visiting in-laws or clients what the city has to offer, you get the feeling that they don’t really want to venture far from Union Square. So take them to Burma Love. This spot is related to Burma Superstar, and along with great cocktails, they also have the same food as their other locations, including the tea leaf salad, spicy tomato chutney, and rich curries with beef. With its tall ceilings, huge bar, and second level that looks like a VIP lounge, this place feels like a nightclub—so it’s definitely an above-average casual dinner spot." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez
"Prix-fixe lunch (entree and a drink) or dinner (starter, entree, and dessert) $25 for lunch, $60 for dinner All lunch entrees are served with a side of their solid tea leaf salad Any of the Burmese curries or the ginger chili pork" - julia chen 1
"Burma Love in the Mission hails from the Burma Superstar family, so you already know you’re in very good hands. It’s good for groups, good for dates, and, basically good for everything else. Which is why you should come here, order the tea leaf salad, platha with yellow curry sauce, and coconut-y ohn no khao swe, and don’t think twice." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez
"Burma Love’s two locations in the Mission and SoMa are part of the Burma Superstar mega-family, and they’re actually our favorite restaurants of the bunch (you can also find their salads pre-packaged at most grocery stores around town). Their take on tea leaf salad is earthy and funky, and includes halved cherry tomatoes, strips of cabbage, and romaine. And, because this is a relative of Burma Superstar, it’s prepared right at the table. Burma Love is one of the swankier Burmese restaurants in the city, so prepare to sip on cocktails or whiskey flights, while digging into the salad, and stir-fries and curries. "Burmese food that isn’t in the Richmond. It’s a Christmas miracle. The other miracle is that Burma Love has a nice bar, funky tiled walls and Heath Ceramic plates to allow it into the SF cool kids' restaurant club. This isn't a hole-in-the-wall situation - Burma Love is a place you want to sit down and enjoy, with a very similar menu to Superstar, only better executed. Throw in their serious cocktail menu and we never want to leave this spot." - max child taylor abrams
