I'm not sure what to say after reading all the reviews on here... I think we were in a parallel universe or something! We stopped in after an appointment I'd had on a Monday in Lees Summit. We decided to have a quick early dinner here in town, and did a Yelp search for "great places to eat near me". This place was high in the list. We read the reviews and found ourselves driving around a building that had ZERO markings for the Burn Theory Fire Kitchen on it, but our Maps app said we were here. Turned out, the food for Burn Theory Fire Kitchen was cooked in a food truck in a parking lot and served inside the Diametric Brewing Company which is located at the address listed for Burn Theory Fire Kitchen. I will say, my husband ordered a special beer called "Cherry Street Wheat" and it was very unusual, and seriously tasty!!! I'm not a beer fan, but would drink one of these any day! So, getting back to the food... we'd both ordered a trio of street tacos that we did a mix and match of with their various proteins. We ordered this way to share with each other. We also love to discover new and unusual bites. After reading the reviews and their menu, we were excited for the promise of something uniquely delicious... and were completely disappointed!!! All but one (excluding the shrimp) of the six different tacos we'd ordered, bordered on the inedible side. The proteins were seemingly overcooked, folded into little leathery tortilla shells, and served to our table cold, dry and tough. They tasted as if they had been reheated from the weekends leftovers. Maybe we came on the wrong day. Perhaps if we'd visited on a weekend, or on the same day they were actually cooking the meats initially, we'd had a better experience. I don't know, and frankly do not plan to find out. Additionally, to be fair, their condiments (ie: the Ketchup and BBQ sauce) seemed to be made fresh and made from scratch. They were sadly the best part of our meal. Honorable mention to the Diametric Brewing Company which served us one of the most delicious and unique beers we've ever tasted!

I stumbled across this place while my car was at Safelite. The drinks were delicious, the food scrumptious, and the atmosphere was light and friendly. I'm looking forward to a planned visit in the future.

We were looking for a locally owned BBQ spot and chose this place because of its 4.7-star rating. The location is pleasant, right next to a lake. Unfortunately, our experience was negative overall and left us with concerns you should know about. Atmosphere & Setup Despite the name Burn Theory Fire KITCHEN, this is not a traditional restaurant — it’s a food trailer (see photo), serving a microbrewery, Diametric Brewing. This was not clearly stated on the website, and with “kitchen” in the name, I could understand anyone’s confusion. Upon seating, we noticed the reusable plastic cups still had stickers attached to the bottom. The A/C was very strong and made some in our party cold, so we walked around to warm up. The children’s area was a nice touch, but many books and toys were sticky or dirty. The nearby smoking area smelled strongly of smoke, with ashtrays full of cigarette butts. Just beyond, a corner was heavily covered in bird droppings — all detracting from first impressions. Service & Wait Time You pay and tip ahead of time at the bar then take a number. We waited nearly an hour for our order, which felt long for such a casual setup. During this time, we saw food being carried inside within plastic containers from a green trailer outside. We were never checked on, meaning if you need help, you must wait in the beer line to speak to someone. As our wait stretched on, we realized we had little time before we had to leave. I stood in line for 10 minutes to ask if our order could be packaged to-go. While waiting, I saw a staff member arrive at our table and began to transfer our food from plastic to metal trays. I politely asked for it to be packed to-go, thinking all that was needed was a bag for the trays. The staff member’s response was visibly frustrated and curt as she turned away without acknowledging me. A child in our group even asked why “the lady was mad,” which says a lot about how the exchange came across. When she bagged our food, now repackaging everything into paperboard containers, she chatted with co-workers and patrons, poured beers, and took a long time despite knowing we were pressed to leave. I inquired and mentioned we'd be happy to bag our items, she flippantly replied that “it would take a long time for all the food YOU ordered.” as if we'd done something wrong. The entire interaction left us feeling as though our time and patronage were not valued. Had we not needed to leave quickly, I would have requested a refund. A first for me. Food Quality In fairness, I won’t deduct points for texture/temperature, as we had to eat our food later. However, the fries were soggy as soon as we opened them on the way to the car. The Brussels sprouts were slightly charred and overly sweet (despite our dietary note), and one entrée was missing. The smoked wings had an impressive smoky depth of flavor, but I cannot fairly evaluate texture of the “smo-fried” preparation since they weren’t eaten right away. Areas for Improvement Transparency: Clearly state that this is a food trailer. Efficiency: Shorten wait times or set better expectations. Offer a way for food-only customers to communicate with staff without standing in the beer line. Streamline the packaging process. Service: Acknowledge requests politely and avoid showing frustration in front of guests — especially small children. Cleanliness & Details: Refresh the children’s area, remove stickers from cups, clean them thoroughly, and relocate the smoking area farther from the entrance. Final Thoughts If you’re coming specifically for Burn Theory Fire “Kitchen" at this location, be prepared for long waits, self-service, and unacceptable customer service. Regardless of food quality, the combination of delays, communication challenges, and unprofessional service keeps me from recommending this establishment.

Google
I absolutely love the food at Burn Theory Fire Kitchen! It is a food truck permanently located in the parking lot of Diametric Brewing in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. You order at the bar counter, get a number to display at your table, then your food is brought in & delivered to you. I’ve eaten there for years & have never done a review (basically because the food is so good that I never get photos prior to digging in!). Well I remembered today! We ordered the Baja Pork Nachos this time. The pork was so delicious, crispy edges and tender middle, and the red onion, jalapeños and cilantro were a perfect medley of flavors. We also ordered a dozen Smoked 3 Chile Taylor Tots (these are a must order every time we go!). They are slightly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The 3 chile spices are slightly sweet, slightly salty, and just a touch of heat. The perfect spice medley! The inside almost has a fritter texture, but moister, and they are so delectable! This was just enough food for two people & we were pleasantly full.

This is a wonderful place! The patio area overlooks the lake and had 10 or so picnic tables outside. They are dog friendly inside and out which is amazing. Bring your well behaved dogs out to hang out! The food is amazing. The beer is amazing. Had the buffalo wings, baha street tacos, Cali shrimp tacos with blue corn tortillas, fries and tots, and a Bare burger. Everyone loved their meals. Their carrot cake wheat beer was delicious. I heard good things about Ruby on Rails as well. We also had the smoked old fashioned; good reviews but a bit heavy on the cinnamon flavor, but still recommended. The atmosphere is so fun and chill. My kid celebrated his birthday and the whole patio randomly sang him Happy birthday. A few people came and gave the dog some scritches. An overall fun crowd.

Google
The food here is so good! I've eaten in person and ordered through door dash and it's just delicious. The brussel sprouts are definitely my favorite. There isn't a ton of room in the place itself, so timing definitely matters if you're planning to eat in. Definitely recommend though!

Google
This is a unique place. All the brewing equipment is inside and the food they cook outside in a food truck. I visited because I had heard the tater tots were unique. There are multiple flavors and the tots are hand made. They deep fry with the seasoning on the outside which allows it to have full flavor. There is a parmesan cheese, buffalo, ranch, Cajun... Seasoning for the outside of the tots. It seems a little expensive for tater tots but they were really good. We tried the street tacos also. The brisket and the buffalo chicken I would do again. The brisket has a thin layer of fried cheese lining the soft taco. I also tried the smoked queso but ended up taking that home as the dipping sauces were fine with the tater tots. The queso had a nice smoky taste to it.

Google
Looking for somewhere new and stumbled upon Burn Theory Fire Kitchen and we will be coming back here! The environment was very laid back and welcoming. Food was AMAZING! The Banger Burger lived up to its name and the Southwest Turkey was absolutely amazing. Can’t wait to return and try more food.

Yelp
Very good staff and all very friendly. Some great beers and enjoy this open air bar so much.

Yelp
My imperial stout was super sweet. It was like drinking syrup. Didn't really like it. The $15 burger didn't include a side so we paid another $9 to share an order of seasoned fries which were overly salty and seasoned with cumin which seems like an odd choice. The burger was super salty as well and the meat patty was very dense which seems like a weird description but if you eat here you'll understand what I mean. My wife and I paid almost $60 for two beers, one shared order of fries and two smallish beers. I cannot recommend this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Mac a cheese for $10 not enough for 1 person and the tacos were dry for $18? Never again you have some pair charging for that. We had to go out and eat. Thanks for nothing. Hey your ego is pathetic

Yelp
I recently tried the new Burn Theory truck at Strange Days Brewing and wasn't disappointed. There are several QR codes placed around the brewery for easy ordering. They bring it straight to you when it's done. The guy who brought ours was super nice. He asked if we needed any utensils or sauce. I was just having a beer and then was taking my grub to go so he brought me a bag to carry everything easily. I ordered the Burn Theory Cubano: House smoked ham and pulled pork, melted Swiss cheese, pickles and house made mustard on toasted brioche. This sandwich was huge! It's very shareable if you're ordering sides. The meat was super smoky and I loved the flavor. It's definitely a top 5 Cuban in KC. We ordered several sides: seasoned fries, smoked Mac and cheese, and a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was good sized and easily shareable as a starter. I liked the house made dressing. If you wanted to have this as an entree, you have the option to add brisket, chicken, or shrimp. I will definitely consider it in the future. The seasoned fries were pretty standard. My boyfriend liked the seasoning and that they didn't put too much on them. My 3 doggos also enjoyed a few. The smoked Mac and cheese was probably my favorite side and I'll have a hard time getting a different one in the future. The Smokey flavor was perfect and not overwhelming. The pasta wasn't overcooked and the sauce was creamy. I end up at Strange Days pretty often and I feel like this is a perfect addition to the area. I'll definitely be ordering from them in the future while I enjoy a beer.

Yelp
I wanted to try the beer at Diametric Brewing, we both wanted to try the BBQ. It came highly recommended by friends, and they were right! The guys were great and helpful. There were tv's all playing something different, but I was ok with the variety of things to watch. As busy as it was, it never got loud, which was nice for us to be able to talk. My wife had a BYO Sammie where she picked pulled pork with pepper jack cheese with fries. She thought the flavor was good, but would have liked it to be "pulled" more. It was a little too chunky for her liking, and a little too fatty as well. She loved the fries though. I had the burnt ends with fries and smoked mac and cheese. They were the best I've ever had. I loved the rub they had on it! Both of the sides were great. We didn't care for the pickles, as they weren't pickle enough for us, but the peppers that came with my plate were good. I thought the portion sizes were good and the prices were fair. We'll go back and try some of the other menu items for sure.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I met here at approximately 1600 in the early evening or late afternoon. I guess aside from the staff there were two other people at this time we were able to choose for many tables. And found one near the bar where we were able to sit and enjoy each other's company. If you have not been here before there are no waiters or waitresses. The menus are on the table and when you are ready to order, you go to the bar and place your order and then take a number back to your table where then someone will deliver your meal. I had a buffalo chicken nacho platter and she had a beef nacho platter. Both of our portions were very large and felt like a good value for the money. The food tasted great and the chips. I couldn't identify a brand so they may be, though I am not sure made in House. They were seasoned well and not too spicy yet. Not really that mild either. Just a really good medium taste. My girlfriend gave me a piece of her beef, which was very tender and tasted great and have very good seasoning on it. We also got a six piece Side, which was seasoned very well and tasted good though for what it was it did seem a little overpriced however the entrées that we enjoyed felt like very good deal for the price charge. As she was on call at work, she just had water and with her not drinking. I didn't feel like tasting a drink from the bar so I stuck with an in-house root beer which was flavored very well. I think it was cinnamon vanilla root beer but it was very tasty. They had a few typical bar type games available. I saw a foosball table and I'm pretty sure I saw some other things but I honestly don't remember exactly what was there. It was a nice night and so the windows and doors were open they did have a patio And sitting out under the sun as a set on the horizon was a very nice and peaceful way to spend an evening after three hours, we paid our bill or tab and left, but we would definitely come again. It is a very nice place to sit and eat. I can tell by the area that it must get more busy either later in the evening or on certain days, we went on a Monday And even when we left, it was probably only about a third full, but everyone that I saw look like they were having a good time next time. We will definitely have to try their spirits that are available if you're in Lee Summit, or in the surrounding area, I would definitely give this place a try.

Yelp
For a small "food truck" outside of diametric brewing... it is THE best food around. Wings are amazing. Brunch is amazing. Everything we have had has been AMAZING. Have to check them out while having great beer at Diametric. You will keep coming back like we do.

Yelp
Very cool atmosphere. You can sit facing the windows and lookout to the body of water... very calming. The food was great...all of it. The Mac n cheese was the only thing that was slightly less awesome than we expected. It could have been a little dryer. There service was amazing. They were so nice and kind.

Yelp
Cool place! It has really good food. I would reccomend the "Bare Burger" The people are very nice. We went on a Friday night and it was kind of slow. But overall great place!

Tara K.

Yelp
My daughters and I went here for lunch not really understanding the concept of the place. Also, We weren't really sure where the entrance was as it's not that clear. The place is actually a brewery and all the brewery equipment is inside the building The food is cooked outside in a food truck I believe. You order at the bar counter, get a number to display at your table, then your food is brought to your table. The food was pretty good, but I think the draw of this place is the beer, including beer flights that I saw other tables ordering. They have an outside patio area that is nice and the food is mostly sandwiches and burgers that were slightly above average in my opinion. I may come back with husband if he is interested in the brewery part of the experience.

Yelp
Tucked in to Diametric Brewing Co. is where you can enjoy Burn Theory's tasty food! They operate a food truck outside with some of the best food you can find in town. Brunch is a staple and there have been no misses at all here. Everything is uniquely crafted with ambitious thought behind every menu item. Steak and eggs is a staple but there have soooo many other items worth checking out. This is a "run, do not walk" destination for brunch. Best in town!

Yelp
The food was simply delicious. Great variety of drinks and their own beer is awesome. They accommodate big groups and groups with kids. They have a big outdoor area as well.

miranda g.

Yelp
Every single thing we ordered was delicious. The customer service was kind and helpful. It was a casual setting with indoor/outdoor seating. I think we found our new favorite restaurant. Highly recommend their tator tots (as pictured in the middle)! We tried chili and garlic parmesan.

Debra J.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot in Lee's Summit. The beers are always tasty, the staff is super friendly and honestly helpful. The food feels like an unfair bonus. Every darn thing is delicious and the menu rotates so that they can concentrate on what they're making!. I recommend the tots, the corn, the brussels sprouts, the burnt ends, the burgers. Heck, I even had a salad once and the produce was sweet, cold, and fresh and there was a ton a juicy smoked chicken on it. Sunday brunch is outstanding too.
google avatar

AL D.

Yelp
Visited here with two girlfriends on a Sunday, which was disappointing because much of the menu listed online wasn't available on Sunday (?) but we didn't understand that until we tried to order and the employee acted like we were STUPID for not knowing this. The staff seemed completely annoyed with us for bothering them at every interaction. Chairs were brutally uncomfortable metal. Food was just okay, but when I got the bill (actually just a touch screen to total) they had overcharged me $2 for requesting the egg that came with my meal fried hard (which it wasn't, it was still runny) AND $2 extra for my $8 cocktail. The bartender was pissed at me when I pointed it out to him. Overall not an enjoyable experience and I was embarrassed because I suggested the place based on the great reviews for the food.

Melissa D.

Yelp
Amazing food that the whole family will eat. Seriously one of the best in Lees Summit.
google avatar

Meg P.

Yelp
This food is always consistently good. The Cuban is killer, so is the smoke burger. Never left hungry!
google avatar

Jeff K.

Yelp
Food was delicious and quick. And beer was excellent!! The atmosphere really sold it for me, vary chill and overlooking a small pond.

Brady S.

Yelp
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Is what I have to tell myself after every meal at Burn Theory. Every new menu item I try becomes my favorite. I am genuinely convinced they don't make a bad item on their menu. The only reason I gave them a five star is because I can't give them a 10. My compliments to the chef.
google avatar

Tim M.

Yelp
Flat out amazing. Always consistent.....and it's a food truck outside Diametric. Our favorite go to casual good meal. Wings, spot on, nachos, OMG, grilled cheese...hell yes! Just go. Beer and staff at Diametric top it off as our favorite spot. Just check open times. See you soon!
google avatar

Jimmy S.

Yelp
Have not had anything that I do not like. Incredible BBQ and the Taylor Tots are also very good. Highly recommend this place if craving some BBQ.
google avatar

Betsy M.

Yelp
Laid back, no frills joint with amazing food! You order inside the brewery that offers wine, cocktails, and craft root beer as well. Great scenery too. Cheap for the quality and quantity. Lots of games and space for the kids and lots of drinks for the adults. Really friendly people. Best butts and buns in town by far. Ribs on Fridays and burnt ends on Saturdays plus a special Sunday brunch menu with loaded biscuits and gravy and several avocado toasts plus lots else. Everything will fill you up without breaking the bank.

Amanda W.

Yelp
We went here one evening when we were bar hopping and let me tell you we had a few beers here and it was the coolest vibe! The server was nice and appetizer we got was amazing!! Definitely worth a stop

John B.

Yelp
Hands down best wings in Lee's Summit. Great food, great beer, friendly people. What else can you ask for!

Vuthy W.

Yelp
The smoked chicken wings smell delicious. If would have been one of the best smoked wings in the area, except it was over seasoned on both flavors. (Cajun and Carolina reaper). I'd order again. But I'll just ask for the seasoning in the side. The food was pretty good besides that.
google avatar

Briana D.

Yelp
So delicious on all fronts. I go Buffalo for tacos and nachos. Wings are excellent too.

BJ B.

Yelp
Burnt ends and ribs were great. Baked beans with pork shoulder, bacon, and smoked rib juice was great. Belmo IPA great. Definitely recommend for anyone in LS. So many more things would like to try.
google avatar

JD C.

Yelp
I'm not one to tops out 5 stars very often but this food is freaking amazing!! A little trailer outside of Diametric Brewing, pumping out flavor most folks in Missouri dream of tasting. We went with the tacos tonight and they were delicious. The barbacoa has great flavor and spice. The baja pork is to die for! The shrimp has a refreshing taste that just cleanses the palate. Oh and by they way there's BEER. Hat's off my friends. You have to try this place.

Tim R.

Yelp
This was my second time trying Burnt Theory, and will not be my last. Carnitas nachos, tots, mac & cheese and carnitas tacos were all fantastic. Sadly everyone at our table agreed the burnt ends were way too salty and dry. I couldn't finish mine. Hopefully it was just an off day.

Briana D.

Yelp
Super delicious everything. The buffalo taylor tots are amazing. I would eat that powder stuff straight.

Chandra S.

Yelp
I am telling everyone I know that this is the best food in Lees Summit and I'm not joking. My brother orders it at least once a week and we get something new everytime we go and it's always delicious! You gotta try the Taylor Tots, the ribs, the tacos, try it all.

Matthew F.

Yelp
So surprised at the quality that comes out the little food truck outside Diametric Brewery. I went on a Saturday and had their Burnt End Special. I fancy my self an aficionado of Burnt Ends and these were as fine as I have ever had. for an appetizer The wife and I split wings with the smoked siracha and apricot teriyaki. They were both amazing. For sides we had the creamy smoked Mac n cheese, and the tots. The tots by themselves are in a class of their own in Kansas City. They were the size of ping pong balls, with smoked gouda incorporated into the tot. They had several different seasoning options like bbq, cajun, and garlic parmesan, but just stayed with them as is, and they will be a must have every time I go there now. Also had the house made smoked poblano ranch for dipping of the tots and was blown away on how they can take something as simple as ranch dressing to a new level.
