The staff are consistently attentive, compassionate, and extremely helpful. I arrived at Burnaby Hospital at four-thirty in the morning because my son was in severe pain. Like any mother would, I parked, paid for four hours, and rushed inside so he could be seen. Four hours went by… and we still hadn’t been attended to. And on top of that, when I stepped out for a moment to check the car, I found a ticket stuck on the windshield. What is that? You’re there for an emergency, paying for parking, waiting patiently, and they still give you a ticket as if you’re out for a stroll. I find it inconsiderate toward people who are in the middle of an emergency and depend on the hospital for care. A little humanity doesn’t cost anything. If the wait times are going to be that long, the least they could do is suspend parking tickets during emergencies or offer a way to extend parking without having to leave the hospital.

The construction and unclear signage has made the hospital a maze to walk thru. The 5 stars are for all the helpful staff. Nurses, Dr.s, cleaners etc. and volunteer staff have been extremely kind and helpful. No one has been cold or acted as if we were a burden. Everyone was fantastic to us even when my brother was rude and loud they still stepped up and showed us where to go.

Amongst all problems with the Canadian health system, double shifts and short staff the hospital manages to keep it real with taking care of patients. No sugar coating tho, expect to face some long waits for emergency some time, some exhausted doctors and nurses being rough and even rude sometimes, but overall, you will be taken care of. I would say it's most likely to be one of the best hospitals in the GVA. Side note: can't wait for the expansion plan to be done because the construction and renovations makes everything a bit harder..But for a grater good in the end.

Love this hospital!! Excellent maternity office for regular pregnancy checkups and shoutout to Dr. Andrew, Dr. Mongar and Dr. Mistry on the 1st floor. The reception staff are all so patient and love Kathy! She’s so accommodating. I hope you guys have a new ward soon with windows! Labour and delivery staff were super professional on the 4th floor and so clean in the ward. I’m so grateful for the team that helped me with my c-section in the wee morning on Jan 16 and baby was delivered at 4:20am. Sorry I didn’t catch all your names!! I felt so at ease and since this my first child, I’m grateful for such a seamless and professional delivery. Thanks soo much 🥰

Above and beyond exceeded my expectations. Went in today around 6am for fever pain and bloody vomit, was out by 11am and already feeling better. I do not do well in medical situations and this is my first time in a hospital for myself. I wasn’t waiting very long at all from place to place (registration, triage, medical scans, and endoscopy). Along the way the staff provided me with warm blankets, pain medicine, and anti nausea drip to help with my vomiting. I cannot express how kind and sympathetic the staff was. I was too out of it to catch anyone’s names, however they treated me so well I cannot believe. I was treated with respect, kindness, and dignity, and apologetic as again I do not do well in medical situations and this is my very first time in a hospital like this. I was in and out as quickly as they could manage I’m sure. Thank you to all the nurses, doctors, and staff at Burnaby Hospital, from how I’m feeling you have saved my life thank you.

I was there at 7:45am for a ct scan. Staff was exceptional. My scan took 10 minutes and was on time. I then chose to go to emergency as I was having an issue with my right hand that had been going on for 3 weeks. This was an opportunity to find out what was going on. Again the staff were upbeat and kind. I was probably there for an additional 2-1/2 hours but so grateful for their attention. I had an X-ray and results by the time I walked back to the emergency area. Maybe our timing was just lucky but the staff were wonderful. Thank you to all.
