Conveniently located in Fitzroy, Burnside serves as our perfect midpoint stop on the way to Melbourne CBD. Don’t miss out on their must-try sandwiches—they’re simply delicious!

My local coffee shop, always excellent coffee. I came in today with a headache and asked if they could turn the music down. A little while later a beautiful smile greeted me at my table with ice cold water with lemon. Changed my day!

Great coffee, friendly staff and quick service. Good quick food options early morning and a nice sandwich list. Tried the breakfast bacon and egg and also the ham and cheese toastie on gluten free bread. Both good toasties with no complaints. Keen to try more of their other options too. Some small seating to eat in for a quick bite too

Staff were not particularly friendly, sandwiches were overpriced and underwhelming, coffee was average, interior was cold and industrial. Way better cafes out there in melbourne, a shame that such an average cafe is situated at a very key location.

Real score 4.6 out of 5. It seemed many a cold local was gathered at Burnside this morning for their coffee fix. Some sitting. Some standing. Some there to sit a spell. Some there for takeaway. And, why not. The Melbourne weather was bracing again. Cold, grey and rainy. We all love our coffee. I’m not sure you can do a coffee corner cafe much better than they do it here. Despite there being a big crowd, service was virtually instant which was very surprising. Provision of coffee was much the same. Incredibly speedy despite the many customers. Mine arrived a few short minutes after I ordered it. And, no skimping on quality either despite the pressure. They make a magnificent seven seeds coffee here. Mine was expertly made. It was delicious and faultless. Everyone around me was getting the same deal as far as I could see. And, as an infinitely wise foodie colleague said in her review of Burnside, there is no Fitzroy snobbery evident here at all. It all seemed relaxed but businesslike. The coffee and sangas sign on the front window speaks to a refreshing lack of formality. I found this an impressive business and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I would return here any time. Highly recommended.

I visited precovid and had a pretty standard flat white. The coffee here wasn't anything spectacularly out of the ordinary, but it was good and kept us warm on a cold day.

Sometimes I wonder what attracts people to some of these places,particularly when what they have on offer is horrible. Well, maybe it is just my opinion, but when I was waiting for a tram early one morning I noticed that this place was absolutely packed. I ended up going over to road and ordering a coffee, namely because tram after tram was packed, and I have to admit that the coffee was nothing short of horrible. In the end, maybe it was just me, but this isn't a place I'd be heading back to in a hurry.

Great guys, great coffee and super friendly staff. Highly recommended, great place with plenty happening around the areas. A little goldmine I reckon. A++++

This was once a dark dingy corner with questionable coffee quality on the inside. Burnside has flipped the offering completely on its head, with a bright and open fit out that welcomes you in as if being drawn in to a friends open arms. There's (very good) coffee from Seven Seeds and simple toasties and pastries to keep the wolf from the door. Don't come expecting poached eggs and more elaborate fare, because it's all simple and easy eat-with-your-hands type food on offer. With tram stops just outside the door, these guys are already doing a brisk morning trade and they've only been open a week! Pull up a chair and stay for a while if you can. The fitout is happy and you'll leave with a slightly larger than normal spring in your step after hanging out here for a while listening to the good tunes in the sunshine.

These guys do the best coffee. I am a Fitzroy local and have an abundance of really good coffee within striking distance. Burnside is where I go for when I want an exceptional one. Great sandwiches and toasties also.

Without a doubt the best iced long black I've may have ever had. I am visiting Melbourne for work and went for a jog and when I was finished I stopped here. I only brought my AMEX with you which Burnside doesn't accept. The barista told me not to worry about it and pay them back next time I was there. Can't wait to go back tomorrow and pay them back and have another great coffee. Thanks guys!
