Had a great time staying at burnt cape cabins. Cabin was clean with fully equipped kitchen and BBQ. Would have liked to stay for longer . Lovely view and even had a little area to sit around a firepit with wood provided. Little store across the road had a few things if you need something in a pinch but grocery stores 20 minutes away in st. Anthony. Highly recommended if you enjoy tidy cabins on the waterfront. Lady at the store where you check in was very friendly and helpful but it's a small town so store closes for an hour at suppertime. This was the favorite stop of our trip across Newfoundland. If you are ever near Raleigh definitely won't be disappointed.

I have travelled all over the world, I have stayed in all types of accommodations, and I have dealt with many hotelier hosts and owners. Never in my life have I ever dealt with an owner so rude and dismissive of our concerns. The location of these cabins is quite remote. It is actually close to five hours away from where our previous stay was on the West Coast of Newfoundland. Upon arrival we checked in and paid for our accommodations. The office is at the store next to the cabins, as we unloaded our luggage and prepared for our two nights stay I saw a notice on the wall stating that a water boil order was in effect. Briefly, a water boil order is put into effect when the drinking water supply has been compromised or a piece of equipment is malfunctioning that helps make the water safe for usage. Now this order was put into place on July 1st. We booked this accommodation on July 22. No one informed us that a water boil order was in effect for nearly a month other than the notice of which we saw upon arrival. I’m not sure how everyone else operates and I do understand that these orders do come into a fact, and if you happen to live in one of those communities, then you work around it. However, having to incorporate boiling water to make it safe for cleaning, cooking, etc., is not normally part of the checklist that I have when taking a vacation and spending nearly $300 a night on a booking. At one point, the owner said that we were being silly and dismissed our concerns like they meant nothing. He gave us one option if we left right away, he would give us half our money back and leave us with no accommodation for that evening. I would never in a million years book a location that had a water boil order in effect on our vacation. He told us if we had a concern about getting water in our mouth, taking a shower to take a bath. This was certainly not the kind of hospitality that we were expecting on our dream vacation of Western Newfoundland. My advice to anyone booking a vacation through any of the booking platforms is to do a local search and history on implemented water boil orders to get a feel as to whether or not your water is going to be safe to drink, clean or cook with.

These cabins are handy to L’Anse Aux Meadows and are located with an ocean view. The interior and furnishings are dated and has a strong musty smell. |The kitchen is outfitted ok to eat in, however it would be helpful if there were a few extras included such as foil, Saran Wrap, etc. A full size coffee maker would also be better. The cafe was closed, so be sure to bring food or get something to eat before you arrive.

The cabin is clean and we weren't hurting for anything. The mattress feels like it's time for replacement, but that's about it. The location is very convenient for visiting L'Anse Aux Meadows, and St. Anthony isn't too far away as well. We had one question for the owner, who answered immediately - no problems there at all. Overall, a good experience.

I think this location would be OK if you didn’t have any issues. However, after a 5 Hour drive from our previous location, we found out that the community had been in a water boil order for over a month. We booked this location 22 days after the water boil order was put into effect. The owner was the rudest accommodation owner that I have ever spoken with in all of my travels having travelled all over the world. Having to boil your water for anything to do with cooking and cleaning and the risk of getting water in your mouth while taking a shower and getting a bacteria infection should not be something called silly as the owner called it, he was dismissive of our concerns and lied about other communities that also had water boil orders in place at the time. I would not suggest anyone book with this owner as he appears to be dishonest and not transparent about existing situations that may affect the health and safety of their guests. The only compensation that the owner offered was if we left the premises immediately he would give us half of our money back leaving us with no accommodations. We had to drive an additional 45 minutes to find other accommodations and had to cut our stay short by a day.

We booked 2 days. We should have booked 2 weeks. Spotless, beautifully equipped, amazing view. We were in cabin 6. Cabins 5&7 are probably similar. Very convenient for L’Anse aux Meadows. We had a great meal at the Daily Catch. |If you don’t like this cabin, you’re a monster who hates puppies.

Poor customer service. Disrespectful and dismissive to a customer expressing an issue. The cabin itself and check in was fine, but the customer service from the owner/manager, who has at least one other property in the area, was surprisingly disappointing. We had left an article of clothing in the closet, and after we left, called to see if the staff had found it, and asked if they would mail it to us (which we said we would pay for). The post office is 10 steps away from the check in office. The owner said he would ask the staff if they found it and call me back. He did not call. I called again several hours later, and he had not checked with staff and said he hadn’t had time to check. Still no callback .I called again the following day, and first got no answer. We called from a different phone and he said he had been at the office but did not check with the staff. We called again later that day, and he still had not checked with the cleaning staff, and while I was noting my disappointment with him not doing something so simple as asking the staff if they found it, he cut me off and said, in an agitated voice “..let me tell you something, I told you we had a lost and found box where you can check…it would probably cost $20 to mail that”. I again said we had no problem paying for that. Part of the charm of the location is that they are over 400km off the beaten path. The problem for a visitor with checking the lost and found box is that they are over 400km off the beaten path. Another day has passed, and no call from the Manager.

Very comfortable and clean cottages on the water. We were booked to stay at another property, but the owners either had water or staffing issues, so we were shifted to this property. Come prepared, as there are few options for food in the area if the little market isn't open and it is seasonal. The family was accommodating and friendly.
