We came here for the first time last night and were absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the quality of the food AND the staff. Riley was a fantastic waitress and really made our experience more pleasurable. Everything was top notch. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
March 2025: Gave them another try. The chicken philly was really good! The butter cake was still, amazing. Wouldn’t recommend their baked potato salad - I just wasn’t a fan. Would return for dine-in! Sept. 2024: The food was decent, not anything special. Have definitely had better BBQ. Did not like the cheese corn, at all. There was an over abundance of staff when I visited. The music was very loud inside and out of the restaurant. Our server was attentive, no complaints in that aspect. The Butter Cake? Now that is something special. Would return simply to have that again!

Google
Wow!! Top notch food and service, and the interior is nice too! Everything was absolutely delicious, and it’s very conveniently located, right off of K-10 between southern KC and Lawrence.

Fantastic food. Excellent stop right off the highway. Really appreciated the attention to details in the decor. Excellent layout. Staff was friendly and cordial. Natural lighting was amazing

Google
Never even had the pleasure to experience any such restaurant as the Burnt End BBQ within DeSoto until it made its appearance. They offer a wide variety, not just BBQ items, such as ribs and pulled pork. They also have a selection of sandwiches and burgers made from the great taste that comes from the hard work these cooks put into their food. Love it! Try it if you're in town.

Google
Came for the Corned Beef Burnt ends and they did not disappoint. I will definitely go back just for those . Got a 2 meat combo with 2 sides. Got Corned Beef Burnt ends and turkey. Portion size could have been a little more especially on the turkey. The burnt end portion was decent I would have like just a few more but still not bad. The temp of the meat was just barely warm enough but it wasn’t too bad. The chipotle sauce that came with the onion rings was pretty amazing as well. Unfortunately I am not a sauce person so I didn’t think to try it so I have no comment on it. Our server Jason was really good. I will definitely be going back to try more stuff. They also gave me some complementary fried cornbread nuggets that were so good !

Google
Delicious food, fast good service. We had a small issue and the management, maybe owner ,took great care of us.

Google
Awesome addition to the KC BBQ scene; popped over from western Shawnee to try this place and it didn’t disappoint. Great burnt ends, sauce, drinks, and prices. Not only was the food delicious but got some lighting inspo for an upcoming kitchen remodel. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Vibrant and bustling lunch service offering a quick and delicious option in De Soto, KS. Located in an old Burger King, the dining room and bar is light and airy with lots of natural light. They were having a bit of an issue with AC dripping in the dining room and was fortunately, not over a patron's head. I ordered the smoked turkey Cobb salad and should have probably known better than to order a salad at a BBQ restaurant. There aren't a ton of lighter options and the salad was disappointing for $14. It was on the smaller side and came out with no avocado, no bacon, and the wrong salad dressing. The smoked turkey was delicious and I should've just gotten it on a sandwich with a side salad, will know for next time. My husband got the burnt end nachos, a Thursday special, and was very pleased. Will go back for their happy hour sometime soon.

Yelp
Stopped in after finishing up work in Lawrence. I must say this place is in an old Burger King and it's weird to walk into what you know was a fast food joint and there's a full bar. The place is so much cleaner and nicer than its previous occupant kept it. I sat at the bar and ordered a cold Yengling beer and a smokehouse Rueben with fries. Nothing beats a cold beer in a frosty mug on a hot day. The Rueben was good but could have used a little more corned beef. Plenty of spicy kraut which I loved and cheese. The sandwich had lots of flavor and the fries were crispy and hot. Steve the bartender was making sure I had everything and even held a good conversation. Most of the time bartenders don't stick around and talk.

Yelp
This place was off of 119 in Metcalf, moved out here, food is still good, service has already been friendly, smaller seating room, u.can't miss this place off the road has u head into town, meet some supper nice people at the other store, the drive is well worth it, they have a drive Thu, this use to be Burger King, better quality of food, this is my 2nd time here

Yelp
Coming from Texas to try the BBQ but also the southwest spin on many dishes. I gotta say the fact it is inside an old Burger King should have been my first red flag. the bathrooms 5' from the bar where you can hear and smell what goes on inside while you eat/drink should have been the second red flag. But the MARINARA SAUCE as salsa is the end all. You absolutely can not give a Texan pureed marinara (there is no mistaking italian marinara sauce) as salsa with corn chips and think you wont get a comment. i am upset by that on a strangely personal level i didnt expect from myself. If it was paired with garlic cheese bread i would be happier. there was no chopped onion, cilantro, hot peppers of any kind or anything other than tomato. in fact i pulled out tomato seeds (seeds are removed from romas when making salsa any southerner knows this) and many seeds were sprouted. you dont eat tomato plants the plant part so sprouted seeds in "salsa" are a no-go. they cause stomach upset. the burnt end nachos were very light on meat and the burnt ends were not cripsy but just some pork shreds. it was juicy enough so it was ok. there was literally one spoonful of picante on my whole thing of nachos. untoasted corn chips got super soggy quickly so half was just not good to eat. Over all extremely disappointed. place looked clean and staff was friendly. spaciaous parking lot but inside is limited space for how big the parking lot is. no hot beverages which to me is weird for a full bar. most bars at least have one bad black coffee option..no sobering up here.

Yelp
We like this bbq, it's on the way home from work so I can order and pick up food for dinner on my way home. I've never been disappointed. Can't comment on the ambiance, we've only done take out. The drive through service is quick and efficient. My favorite is the turkey salad. L loves the wings

Yelp
Admittedly I was there around 7PM on a Sunday night but I expected traditional tender burnt ends with a crispy layer of deliciousness - that expectation is what lured me in when I saw their sign. Sadly, that is not what I got. The burnt ends seemed more like "cooked middles"! They were a little tough and did not feature the caramelized coating one would expect in a burnt end. The fried cornbread bites were rather soggy and greasy - too bad because this could be a really tasty idea. The news is not all bad - the smoked turkey exceeded expectations... moist and delicious and a worthy vehicle for the selection of tasty sauces.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times and I have to say it doesn't disappoint! Their burnt ends are really good and the brisket is pretty good too. Their fries are perfect which is important because you have to have something good to compliment your main dish! They are crinkle cut, crispy, and copious. The people staff is friendly and always working. The restaurant is clean with heavy duty paper towels at each table to help clean you up after your meal. Next to the drink fountain they have pumps and cups for the different sauces. I definitely recommend giving it a try. The price a right and the food is good. Tip: if you sign up for their email/make an account t you get a free sandwich for your birthday!

Yelp
BBQ here is good, reliable & consistent. Tonight we ordered slightly different items than we have in the past. I got a side of corn bread bites instead of fries with my pulled pork sandwich. My husband ordered 'The Chopped' Sandwich. Because he doesn't like onions I was the lucky recipient of the onions straws off his sandwich!

Rachal O.

Yelp
Food was fresh and tasted great, healthy portions. Staff was super helpful. We have had breakfast lunch and even drive through. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This BBQ restaurant offers a menu board and counter service to order. There is plenty of staff and the restaurant is clean. I ordered the burnt end combo with beans. The meal comes with fries and cole slaw. There are four different sauces on the table already. I tried all four of course. The variety is nice. The sauces are fine. The burnt ends, pork and beef, were tasty. The slaw was served cold and fresh. The slaw could have used a little more spice. The fries came unseasoned and were bland but hot and crunchy. There was no salt or pepper on the table. These items were located by the soda machine. The beans were okay. This one is a definite must try.

Yelp
I was buzzing through the area and saw this Barbque joint in a small strip mall by a Walmart. It had gently of parking and a good noon crowd on a Tuesday . So I pulled in, there was the customary line for ordering...I asked for help because it was my first trip to this place... the order taker was pure hospitality, answered all my questions and help me pick out some meats. I got the pulled pork, great! then I got smoked chicken. They were yummy! Then I got brunt ends...which I never order. These beef burnt ends were a dream. So what could go wrong? Sides! The Barbque beans are great and mac and cheese good. So I tried the house Barbque sauces...the honey Barbque was the best. So five stars. Going back.

Yelp
Most BBQ places around Kansas only do Burnt Ends on special days. This place does it everyday. They have beef and pork Burnt Ends. They also have Briskets. They also have fall off the bone St Louis Ribs. They also have these melt in your mouth Cornbread bites. Plus check out there Daily Specials. They have awesome drinks. Chk out the awesome kids meals. Bring the family for outdoor games. There easy to find right off the K-10 and De Soto Exit.

Yelp
The atmosphere was amazing !! Met at the door and everyone was so nice !! Sat at the bar and Allie was an amazing bar tender and host !! Very polite and sweet. Ordered the 2 meat plate and the burnt ends were so good I ordered more to go !! No barbecue sauce needed. Not a Smokey taste at all !! Great game and conversation with my new friend visiting shortly to the place I live in Berkeley CA !! Keep her around she will make u a lot of money !!

Yelp
We picked up a to go order for my son's birthday at his request. My wife tried the Smoked Turkey rice bowl and loved it. I had the burnt ends Mac bowl and really enjoyed it. My son just got a pork sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese, which he says is his favorite here. They made things fresh but the wait was not too long. We will be back

Yelp
Here we are at Burnt Ends again Love this place and now they serve breakfast. Woo Hoo! Breakfast was excellent plentiful and reasonably priced, Server Abbey did an excellent job and there was no rush to leave Thank you again Burnt Ends for coming to De Soto

Yelp
When I ordered I specifically wanted brisket. Found out I had to order a platter of something else to then pay extra to get brisket. I was surprised I couldn't get a platter with just brisket. When got my food there was no brisket. Somehow they didn't add it to my order even though that was the main thing I wanted. They did provide me a side of it free which was nice. Food was not that great. Was very disappointed in the brisket which was tough and dry. I wouldn't go there again.

Yelp
I came in on a Saturday night and had the Saturday night special sandwich. It was Awesome. I will definitely come back and get it again.
google avatar

Yelp
5 of us had lunch there today, bowls, Sandwiches and Platters. To say is was good is not fair. When I want a good smoked meat meal. This would be my go to for sure. If I didn't live 40 minutes away. We were in the area and said let's try it. I mean the fries.... let's talk about your krinkle cut fries. These are incredible. But that's just the fries. They have an item called cornbread bites. Squares of cornbread with a real light fry on them. Kinda like a hush puppy but more delicate and a fantastic pairing for their burnt ends. The pit master has worked with the best in KC. And it shows. They had a segment on the food network. It's worthy. We will be back

Yelp
If you build it and good at it people will come. Small town Kansas a good eatery is rare. Burnt End is better than good!! We ordered the BBQ burnt end nachos for an Ap. They were better than exceptional. I ordered a margarita. The size was less than impressive and forgettable. For my main meal, I had a jalapeño beef and pork sausage link / dog . I've had grocery store sausages that were better. I did have fried cornbread bites as my side, and I thought those were wonderful. One in my party ordered the two meat platter. Burnt and pulled pork was his meat choices. His side was their hickory pit beans. Wow those should be sold in grocery stores.!! The other one in my party ordered six wings baked potato salad. Once again, the side was very exceptional. I was not a fan of the wing flavor. The last thing that I tried was their sauce. They have four flavors and I enjoyed all of them!! This restaurant is way more hit than miss!! I am happy to have it as close to our small little town as we do!!!

Peggy F.

Yelp
My husband and I went here and the food and service were excellent! We were pleased with the BBQ and loved the cornbread fritters! It is not a big place, but you can call ahead to find out the wait time. We will be back!

Yelp
Placed a giant to go order and everything was excited perfectly!!!! Great for large and small gatherings!

Yelp
WOW. We love burnt ends and have had a hard time being impressed on recent trips to the KC area. But our faith has been restored (at least in the Overland Park location). I love that you get to watch all of your food being prepped and plated if you want to. And the sides are wonderful too. The wedge fries which are not always available were seasoned well and crispy outside and tender inside. Onion straws add a nice crunch to the meal, and the sweet and spicy cole slaw has a slow burn. I found the sliced brisket to be a bit dry, but the smoke is just right and actually it was better cold the next day as a snack. But the BE were perfect! Tender and barky just as I like them. Honorable mention to Robin, who was managing the night we went in. He was friendly and engaging and he was bragging on his employees, which I admire.

Yelp
Went to Desoto to try couldn't get waited on. So went to drive through drive thru ordered a beef on bun that's all I wanted but wouldn't sell me just sandwich must order sides Didn't get to try your restaurant. So sad

Yelp
I stumbled upon Burnt End BBQ while visiting Overland Park on business. I am so glad I did! My respect for KC barbecue just went to a new level! I had the chop sandwich and it was absolutely amazing and delicious!! The menu is full of several different sandwiches that all sound wonderful. I will definitely be back every time I'm in Overland Park.

Yelp
Burnt Ends BBQ features a unique spin on BBQ. They have these burnt end bowls, that have baked beans, or Mac and cheese, topped with crispy onions, cornbread pieces, then burnt ends. It was very delicious! I really enjoyed it. However, either I was really hungry, or the portions may have been a little small. I will say being the BBQ capital, there are other places that have been in business for years that you may want to try first if you're visiting. But, if you are wanting something a little different and extremely good, give this a try! The service is fast and friendly. The ambiance in the dining area is pretty cool. They have the food network, and sports on. Give this place a try!

Yelp
What a Great spot love their smoked and grilled wings they have good cocktails as well

Yelp
We stopped by to pick up dinner on Saturday Night, the restaurant was clean and everyone was friendly. We purchased 2 orders of chicken wings a burnt end sandwich and a beef burnt end platter with 3 sides totaling $77. The wings were delicious! My daughter said her burnt end sandwich was delicious, and her macaroni was ok. The burnt end platter cost like $21 and was so small for the price, (the photo is what we received before anyone touched it) but I guess all the sides covers the price. They can definitely add more burnt ends, the burnt ends also contained more fatty pieces than meat. Maybe we received the last pieces. The sauces were good, but I probably wouldn't make this my first choice.
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I stopped after her Dr. Appointment to have lunch. She picked the place and we were very pleased with it. She ordered the 1/2. Lb. burnt ends for each of us. Our sides were onion rings, fried cornbread bites, corn and potatoes ! We each got two pieces of toast which came with sweet butter. Yum ! We each had a soda with the meal that totaled $43. Not bad considering we both ate all we wanted while taking home almost more than we had dining in. The place was very clean especially for hitting it just after the lunch rush. Our servers were very friendly and attentive. The burnt ends were very tender, juicy & had amazing smoky flavor. Every side was amazing as we did have quite a variety to share. Very much worth the time and money to stop in for a delicious lunch or dinner. Put this one on your list !!

Yelp
Strip mall BBQ is usually dismissed out of hand. I'm truly glad I didn't. I had the burnt ends sandwich and it was incredibly good. The ends themselves were moist with a little bit of crunch from the char. The onion straws on the sandwich added more crunch and the nice onion flavor. The spicy southwest bbq sauce added the right amount of heat. And the fries were excellent. The staff is above friendly. And efficient as can be. I'm going back again and often
google avatar

Yelp
Many bbq joints are closed on Sunday but Burnt End BBQ wasn't among them on 6/4/23. I had heard that their bbq was more like Texas bbq, but with KC sauce and I think that was fairly accurate. The ends had a decent char, but were a bit on the dry side on this day. Still very, very tasty, but I do think LC's BBQ ends cannot be beat. That said, this was excellent bbq in a city full of excellent bbq! I appreciated their take on it and would be happy to visit again.
google avatar

Karl M.

Yelp
We do enjoy BBQ a lot. My wife loves burnt ends, and this restaurant didn't use MSG which causes her severe migraines. So, we went. She had the Burnt End Platter. The food was excellent, but we were expecting more burnt ends on the platter. I had 10 Wings. The wings were big and very good. Overall, along with the friendly and helpful staff, we'd come here again

Jennifer N.

Yelp
First time going here and I have to say it doesn't disappoint! Their burnt ends are really good and the brisket sandwich was amazing. Will definitely be going back!
google avatar

Yelp
Wanted a tasty quick lunch today & found this place on Yelp. The smell already from walking inside was true bbq smell. Then we looked over the menu really quick and decided on burnt end platter with mac and cheese, cole slaw, and fries ( per the employee fav meat choice the burnt ends) . Then I got a chicken pulled sandwich w/fries. Came out just ended 50 bucks with drinks. Then the food actually came out really quick. Everything looked awesome! AND THE SAUCE GAME WAS ON POINT!!! So many great sauces my favorite was the chipotle bbq sauce! And the staff was so kind and gave my daughter a little choc. chip cookie. Definitely going back soon! And the chicken and burnt ends have great smokey flavor to it, a tad dry for the ends but still overall delicious!

Yelp
We were greeted with a hearty "Hello!" As we entered the restaurant. The menu is displayed on the wall leading to the counter to place an order. All of the menu items were written in detail as not to confuse a new customer. The smells of the food really tickled our noses to help the experience we were about to experience. The only thing is after we decided on what we were going to eat and started ordering- I noticed a sign behind the counter by the cashier with their "Daily Specials ". That would have been nice to have been seen maybe at the door as we entered. But no biggie. The cashier was extremely pleasant AND Very helpful in explaining their sauces. After placing our order and while waiting on our food the other employees were just as friendly as the cashier. We selected a couple of different sauces to try and as we walked back over to the takeout counter we walked through the seating area. Nice and clean (if we weren't doing takeout we would have enjoyed the atmosphere by dining in. ) As the cashier was placing out food in the bags; she not only wrote on the boxes what meal was which. She also wiped the boxes off to assure there was no oil/food on the outside. She also asked if we needed eating utensils! The food was still warm by the time we got to our destination. It was Pulled Pork sandwich with onion strings and coleslaw was delicious and my fries were nice and crispy. Someone in our group swapped fries for the rice (for a $2.00) up charge They said the rice was rather bland but their sandwich was good. All in all--- if you are in Overland Park, KS it is a good place to eat!

Yelp
Recently went back to Kansas City and decided to give Burnt End BBQ a try. Upon entering into the restaurant I was greeted with that all too familiar scent of hickory and cherry wood smoke that draws so many faithful into Kansas City BBQ havens. With generous portions of brisket and burnt ends, both were well-seasoned, tender and the rendered fat made the succulent meat unforgettable. The cheesy corn had bits of smoked ham and the French fries were crispy and paired well with the Original Thick N Bold sauce and Honey Glaze BBQ sauce. Although this isn't my favorite Kansas City BBQ spot, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to out of towners.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Prices glacé almost doubled for most items the last 2 years. NOT worth it - and much better real, local BBQ places abound in KC area. Staff is consistently rude last few times we went. Don't bother!

Michael G.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious burnt ends and beans. I lived in Texas for a couple years, and this was just as good as any Texas BBQ. The service was quick and friendly. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in town.

Andrew W.

Yelp
Had a great lunch. The dining room provides a great environment. It is fun and welcoming. It has a great bar selection with a variety of drinks. Everything we had was great. Burnt Ends were the best in the area, The Rueben sandwich was fantastic with homemade pastrami. This is a must try restaurant.
google avatar

Sunyoung C.

Yelp
My go to for fast and good bbq! The burnt ends are always great and moist. Tried their burnt ends bowl finally and it was surprisingly really good but heavy! I added cheesy corn and coleslaw! I thought the corn bread in it would be weird but I worked really well and the bread was amazing! Went with a group of friends and talked to Robin, one of the managers or owners! We was extremely polite and made sure we enjoyed our meal. I love a restaurant that really cares about their customers and food! Hope they stay around forever!
google avatar

Casey B.

Yelp
Service is fast and friendly. Restaurant is clean and organized. For me the menu is fairly limited on options, they did not have the traditional "by the oz/lb" bbq meats...only platters or sandwiches. I had the burnt end platter with fries, slaw, and Mac n cheese. All of the food was delicious but portion size of the meat itself left something to be desired. I would recommend and would go here again.

Justin M.

Yelp
The burn ends and sides were all really really good Bbq sauce was good as well but it is pricey
google avatar

Bob L.

Yelp
The food is good, not great. Service is good, and it is easy to get in and get served. I would give it a higher rating, however, recently placed a delivery order that was not what I ordered (I did receive a refund).
google avatar

Ugur P.

Yelp
Best BBQ is south Overland Park! Very friendly staff and great choices. Worth it! Wonderful Restaurant week menu!!

Yelp
Awesome experience. Brought an out of guest who was visiting KC for the first time. He loved trying burnt ends. We shared some of our brisket with him too and made sure he got to try the beans and hot baked potato salad. Every bite was outstanding. The two meet two sides platter is big enough for the "manly" appetite my husband has, and I always have enough to share (or bring home a little!) The line moves quickly. The food arrives piping hot within just a few minutes. I like the self serve sauce area (so many choices!! I personally love thick and bold). Plenty of seating. What's not to love??
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
Adding Burnt End BBQ to my Top 5 list! You place your order at the counter and then they deliver the food to your table. Ordered the Blue Ribbon Platter so we could sample a little bit of everything. The platter comes with ribs, burnt ends, pulled pork and turkey. All of it was great although the turkey was on the dry side. Served alongside the platter: toast, pickles, fries, coleslaw, and beans. They will let you substitute sides for a 0.99 upgrade. While I love fries and mac n cheese (and they were good here) they seem to be a staple at every bbq spot so it was nice to try a new side and let me tell ya those cornbread bites were the best! My favorite part was all of the sauce choices. Most places have an original and a spicy option. Burnt End BBQ has at least 6 to choose from which means something for everyone! I tried the original, bold, and sweet. Across from the drink/sauce station they have silverware and to go boxes set up. Loved the convenience of being able to get everything I need in one area without having to go to the counter multiple times. They really thought of everything.
google avatar

Brent G.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic place. Very kind and courteous at the front counter. Offered a way to save us money with our order (order a pound of burnt ends and a couple sides instead of 3 burnt end dinners). Food was excellent also. Great burnt ends!
google avatar

Samantha H.

Yelp
Food was really good! Could have been hotter as we were a little disappointed in the temp, but overall we were happy.
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
Great barbecue place, love the burnt end Mac N Cheese. The meat was great, and went so well with the macaroni and cheese. The fried onions on top were so good, and I usually hate onion.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Since I'd eaten here before I knew this would be a terrific alternative when I couldn't find close parking at Q39 South, 10 minutes away, on a bitterly cold night. And, Burnt End BBQ as well has been featured on the Food Network. The burnt ends bowl balanced bbq beans, sweet cornbread, and crispy onion straws with the smoky meat. Unlike other places the ends here have a juicy--rather than dry--bark that's thick on the beef. Unique and very tasty.
