Thought we'd give Burnt Timber a visit. We got a flight and felt the beer was just average. There was nothing wrong with it, but there was nothing great about it. For food we got the house smoked meats and kimchis as well as the seared pork dumplings. The food was unique and all done in house. The service was pleasant but tended to cater to the regulars. All in all it was a pleasant place to visit but we wouldn't go out of our way to return.

I know it’s a brewery, but hands down some of the best food in town. Just put out their summer menu, their Brussels are the crispiest most flavorful sprouts in the world, and as is everything else they make. Their food is real deal, just had to post a review bc good food is hard to come by in NH.

Siobhan Scanlon

Google
Very friendly staff! I called to inquire about paying for my fiancé and his friend’s tab when they visited the brewery on his bachelor trip 6/14. Rick was so helpful in assisting me pull off this surprise. Would definitely recommend!

Google
If I was underage and they didn’t check the IDs here, I still wouldn’t drink their beer. The beers all taste like a different ratio of dust and picklejuice. I could make better nachos high using a microwave.

Kindred Wind

Google
Really tasty food with good beer? What's not to like. SUPER dog friendly, even inside. Brought out a bowl of water for the pupper and even a piece of brisket!

Google
This is our favorite local eatery! Beyond the amazing menu and changing specials, the staff is remarkable! We always feel welcome. The environment is fun and it's such a relaxed atmosphere. Oliver is a wizard in the kitchen. John is one of the most likeable human beings on this earth. Eddie is a FANTASTIC owner and all around stand up guy. Jacqueline, DeeDee, Sandra, and Ally are the SWEETEST and most beautiful souls! Even if the food was mediocre, (which it's FAR FROM) we would go back time after time just because of the impeccable service and warm smiles.

Google
First time going here and the reviews are all positive so we expected no issues. The staff was very friendly and were the best part of the experience. The floors were sticky throughout the restaurant and in the bathroom. I got the OG Kimchi and smoked brisket tacos which I couldn't eat. The brisket was so dry and hard. They ended up comping my meal (again great service). We had to ask because I ended up only having the sides for my meal. My husband had a chicken sandwich and said it was fine but not very flavorful. Our 5 year old got a grilled cheese off the kids menu and it was made with a burger bun... Drinks were decent and the service was good, but I wouldn't go back.

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! We were staying nearby and pooped in for a beer. Well, a few beers and some grub later we found our new favorite spot. Our server (forgot her name but her daughter was with her) was SO friendly and knowledgeable. She provided great recommendations and constantly checked in on us. We tried the smoked meat sampler and it was SO good. Homemade kimchi and perfectly seasoned smoked meat YUM. The cook came out to tell us how he makes the kimchi which was so unexpected and so nice!!! Excellent experience.

Kelsey M.

Yelp
The beer was okay, we got there right when they opened and sat outside at the picnic tables which was nice. Ample amount of seating indoors and outdoors. One of us got a pint and the other a flight - in most of the flight glasses there was sediment or the glasses were just downright dirty.

Jackie I.

Yelp
We came in for lunch and beer and thought everything was just OK. The brisket on the nachos had good flavor but were pretty fatty and cold. I think we might have got the end of yesterdays batch because later on the chef came out with samples he has just pulled which were delicious - wish that was on our nachos! Wings were alright but could have been crispier. Overall cool vibe inside and the staff were very friendly.

Yelp
I went to this business as a customer because their yelp page said they were open but they were not because they haven't updated their hours on Yelp that are listed on their website. Yelp makes it easy to search for business that are currently open, which I did, but when I arrived, they were closed for the entire day. I posted my review as a one star review and said that I would remove it once the business owner updated their yelp hours to reflect their new or updated hours. It would seem that the business owner reported my review and Yelp took it down. Please update your hours on yelp to match your business hours so customers, like me, know when you are open.

Yelp
Some of the best and most interesting taco ever Not a known location in town but being on the main drag doesn't guarantee a great meal

Amanda I.

Yelp
Food was excellent, and the staff was so friendly! During a family gathering, my son became very upset. One of the servers took a few minutes and bent down to his level and tried to make him feel better. That was really impressive!

Yelp
My partner and I ended up coming to Burnt Timber Tavern after a trip up to Tamworth. Burnt Timber is a small tavern that not only brews their own beers, but they also smoke their own meats to build a unique menu. What I appreciated most about Burnt Timber is that they were not your average BBQ/smokehouse. Their menu was built to actually feature their meats in creative ways. Their menu ranged from tacos with a variety of kimchis, sauces, and meats, burgers, and they had pub favorites like nachos. My partner and I ended up ordering nachos with the brisket. The brisket had an incredible smokeyness to it, and the BBQ sauce that was drizzled onto it really enhanced the smokeyness. My only, only wish was that everything else on their menu was super cool and homemade, so I just wished that their salsa and chips were also homemade, however, the greatest feature was the brisket. As far as what Burnt Timber has to offer for drinks, they have a wide array of options to please everyone's interests. For starters, they brew their beers on sight. I ended up ordering an IPA, which I believe was called Surfboard something...however, my partner ordered the farmhouse IPA, which were both equally great! Burnt Timber had a variety of other beer offerings, but they also had white sangria and they had a craft seltzer option that they make, which was a pina colada hard seltzer on draft. Overall, Burnt Timber is a great place that is doing awesome things. We'd definitely come back when we are near the area!

Yelp
First time visiting and sadly will be my last. It's difficult for me to leave a negative review - I like to find the positive in just about everything. Sadly though, this place missed the mark by a long shot for me and my husband. The reviews and menu seemed promising, especially since we often enjoy vegetarian menu options; something that's not always easy to find depending on where you're at. His veggie burger was decently prepared but came with about half a dozen tortilla chips and no side to dip in. The presentation was noticeably underwhelming. I made the mistake of ordering the grilled Cesar salad with chicken. The lettuce head was fine, but lacking in color. The chicken was so visually unappealing that I was disappointed before I even tried a bite. Sadly the chicken seemed to be either mixed meat/highly processed chicken or a thigh or some other type of fatty, cheaper meat, that was boiled, frozen and reheated again, or at least it looked and tasted that way. The overall color was gray and greasy. The salad only came with cheese and dressing, there were no croutons or a slice of bread, which for $16 disappointed me. I'm truly nauseated just writing the review and recalling all of this. We each tried a beer and I found the maple beer to be missing any flavor of maple but instead tasted very strongly if burnt hops. Maybe that's for someone but it's not for me. I love beer but I couldn't even finish it because of the taste. Service was mediocre yet pleasant enough. The vibe was super chill and nearly abandoned, which on a rainy Monday I get, although we did visit in the height of tourist season in mid-July. Maybe this place is worth a second try but with so many other lake-side options in the area I won't be taking the time to risk it again.

J I.

Yelp
Excellent food, service and beer. Owner is heavily invested in providing a great experience and family friendly atmosphere.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
It was a rainy night so we wanted something close to home and my husband found this place. Nice little brewery! Space small but cozy. Staff was amazing. Literally amazing. Page and Oliver were just fantastic. Beers were tasty and interesting. We got nachos that were piled high with cheese and smoked chicken. No charge for my soda which is always nice. We took home a yummy chicken sandwich with the house bacon on it. Great place!

Rachael G.

Yelp
Small brewery near downtown Wolfeboro where the locals go for their craft beer fix. Plenty of seating inside and some tables outside too. Right when we first walked in we were greeted and felt right at home. My personal faves were the Forest fire red house and the shandy they make with their spruce juice beer and hibiscus from a local farm. I didn't get to try their tacos which look amazing, or nachos which seemed a little over priced at 20 bucks, but if they're anything like the pretzel they are probably worth it! The pretzel was gigantic and came with a grain mustard and a cheese sauce that tasted like Mac and cheese. Yum!

Peggy L.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this little brewery/ smokehouse for lunch after a winter snowshoeing hike. So happy to have found another, just a little off the beaten path, eatery in one of our favorite NH towns, Wolfboro. We were greeted right away by the bar keep/ wait person who gave us some history on this family run business. We enjoyed a few of their house made beers, the S'more flavored porter being a standout. Also had a delicious Baileys spiked Hot Chocolate beautifully presented with an coconut almond sprinkle. We had to try their brisket plate which interestingly included a side of kimchi. The brisket was smokey, tender and delicious. Some of the best I have had. An ample portion of warm pretzels and large plate of nachos rounded out the meal. Definitely recommend Burnt Timber if you are looking for a friendly, casual place with good eats, much of which are locally sourced.

Olivia W.

Yelp
More of a local beer tasting hall than a restaurant. Burnt Timber is a little off the beaten path, but since all the waterfront restaurants were full, we ended up here because they had an open table. They did make a good effort around social distancing and cleaning off tables between groups so that was good to see. We tried the Bavarian pretzel appetizer which was half overcooked - half the pretzel was hard as a rock, but the mustard dips (both honey and spicy) were pretty good. We also tried the pulled pork sandwich and the korean bbq sloppy joe. The korean bbq wasn't bad, had some flavor to it, but wasn't a home run. The kimchi on top gave it some texture which I was super thankful for because otherwise it would have just been mushy. The pulled pork was not good at all unfortunately. Since the tavern is supposed to be more of a bbq joint we thought it was a safe choice, but it lacked in flavor, sauce and was definitely overcooked and dry. Burnt Timber takes their 'burnt' namesake very seriously here :) Service was slow but friendly. For 2 sandwiches and an appetizer it took almost 2 hours...they were definitely understaffed so I can't hold that against them, but we were hoping to have a quick meal and get back on the road which didn't quite happen. Overall this is more of a brewery than a restaurant. The kitchen is way too small to produce any quality food and the options they do have on the menu aren't very memorable. I'd skip this one and grab some snacks by the docks nearby.

Gigi M.

Yelp
I enjoyed this place. It's very casual and the service is great. The wings were outstanding.

Matt S.

Yelp
Visiting my friends who just moved to Wolfeboro. We came here after various glowing recommendations from their colleagues. Well... I'll put it this way: I wish we never listened to their erroneous opinions! We were all so disappointingly underwhelmed by Burnt Timber's libations and sustenance. We wanted to like this spot for its convenient location and neat outdoor vibe. But, brace yourself and be prepared to dig deep into your pockets. By the time the bill arrived, I forgot I wasn't in Washington, DC anymore. $16 for a burger without any fries?! Whoa. $18 for Lilliputian-sized brisket bites, soggy coleslaw, and cornbread. Sheesh. The menu isn't diverse, either, so don't expect copious choices. As for the alcohol, I had two beers: the Dank IPA and maple lager. I'd never again order the Dank; just putrid. The maple was pretty tasty though so I'd recommend it. Cocktails are also served, but again -- you better have cavernous pockets. Beers were $8 a pop, and my buddy's double margarita cost $20!! One more note on the drinks: they're served in red solo cups... Final two notes: don't ask for an extra knife or cup of water. Our server seemed quite perturbed when we inquired about extra cutlery. As for the water, we were told to go inside. Not the most courteous wait staff I've ever encountered. I don't live in town, but I know for a fact my friends will never return.

Brendan T.

Yelp
I love this place, and if you like smoked food, kimchi, interesting beer, and friendly staff you will too. I mean this place has me hooked on the chi. They do special smoke days too. They once did whole chicken which was pretty perfect outside on the old patio. Pretty much impossible to undercook something you smoked for hours but very easy to dry it out, and it was great. Actually brought the whole fam there that day including our dog. It's petfriendly outside. They have three main beers that you can always get, and then about another 3 beers or so of rotating and experimental beers/ciders. If you want to get an idea of the staff this is from my first visit there a few years back. I actually think this was towards the beginning of Covid. We had to get out of dodge and enjoy some relaxation by the lake. When we showed up everywhere we drove by the spots we normally frequented and everywhere was closed, sometime near 8 pm. We did a search and found that here was open and headed over as fast as we could to try to get something to eat. Unfortunately the grill just closed, and we resigned ourselves to a liquid dinner. The chef then pokes his head out and offers to make a pretzel for us, and we could not have been happier. It was a big one too. The staff was just so welcoming and seemingly very happy that we were there... which is not always the case in the general area... that Burnt Timber became one of our usual spots instantly. Each time we've been back it has always been that way, which is even more rare not just here but back in the Boston area as well. So again if you like smoked and fermented things in an unpretentious atmosphere with very friendly staff I'm pretty sure you'll love this place too

Leah R.

Yelp
Fun restaurant with great food! They are off the beaten path which is great during tourist season. Excellent drink menu and lively atmosphere!! Check it out.

Leah B.

Yelp
Stopped in in the way home from Maine. Ate in the outdoor patio out back. Food and beers were good! I had the Cajun shrimp and my dad had the sirloin burger and both were really good. Had the Farmer Fudd (lemongrass and ginger saison) which was distinct and different. Dad had the If I Had a Nickel Triple (well, 2 of them so I guess they were good! Small menu but interesting dishes. Totally worth checking out.

Caitlin A.

Yelp
Have been multiple times now. I'm obsessed with the brisket! pulled pork nachos are die for & the Buff chicken dip is awesome. We had corn bread with hot honey- delicious! grilled Caesar salad seems like something I would never order but was unbelievable. The staff is awesome, beers are great, & of the mixed drinks, the hibiscus syrup is incredible! Can't wait to go back again!

Christy G.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to go for delicious food and amazing drinks- pina colada is hands down worth going there for! The staff and owners are great and always giving back to the community. Highly recommend giving this great little spot a try!

Ron W.

Yelp
OMG the staff is amazing. Sondra and Paige are fantastic. The food and the beer are are top notch and the staff are even better! Come and have a great meal and a cold drink and a great laugh!

Chris C.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and top notch customer service. Great beer, great food and old school customer service, what more could you ask for??? Oh I know some coffee. Well they got you covered. Love the place and the staff.

Terri F.

Yelp
Nice menu options. Bbq was decent. Rest really was not very good.sugary drinks. Mediocre at best

Deanna K.

Yelp
I dislike leaving negative reviews, but with all the choices in Wolfeboro and the disappointment we experienced, I felt I should share. The restaurant itself is lacking; it's very small and very basic. The service was poor. The appetizer came after the burgers. My husband and I were given the wrong burgers. The waitress rushed back to our table to tell us just before we bit into each other's hamburger. She and the other staff were very loud having all kinds of fun on their own. Our waitress never checked on us, and FYI: they do not have American Cheese.

Ross G.

Yelp
This was a last minute find, on a trip back home that I am glad we made! The environment has a new brewery feel, decor and vibe. The beer selection ranged from IPAs (east & west), saison, and for non beer types white sangria (on tap) and a house made hard cider. We weren't looking for a full meal and chose the nachos with the addition of brisket and maple bourbon jalapeños for tase... they were great! Some where between homemade a local pub with flavor driven from the brisket, bbq and jalapeños. The service as something to note- the staff was friendly, inviting and during this COVID times safe. From talking beer, to adding the jalapeños and checking back often, could not have asked for a better experience! A MUST Do if you in the Lake Winni area!

Johnny B.

Yelp
Wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff. The kitchen is run by a creative perfectionist. Come here for real food and good drinks. Upmost respect for their craft and no bull.

Jae B.

Yelp
My Sister and I went for Sunday Brunch, and the food was great, service was wonderful, and beer was tasty too! We both cheated and had the fried chicken sandwich on a biscuit, and it did not disappoint! Very flavorful and just the right flavor on a cold and wintry day!

Mia K.

Yelp
WORST SERVICE EVER! Staff was incredibly rude and ignored my party even as we attempted to flag them down to order MULTIPLE TIMES. When we spoke to the manager about the issue, she proceeded--with the most condescending attitude--to talk down on us because we were from out of town. She stated that locals had priority and this "wasn't Boston" and we had no business even being here. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.

Fiona J.

Yelp
i have never had such an awful experience at an institution of any kind. The manager verbally harassed me and my family when we asked our food to be cooked through a little more. DO NOT EAT HERE. I wish I could give zero stars.

Brant C.

Yelp
Great visit. Stopped in while bringing my daughter up to summer camp. Enjoyed the BBQ and the beers! Look forward to visiting again soon.

Ryan S.

Yelp
Rude terrible service. Chicken was pink and tried to send it back but gave me exact same dish. I ended up eating some and have been sick for a couple days

Marcus A.

Yelp
This review is not based on the food because we never ate there. Sat down and were given menus. While looking them over I see a notice on the menu that there will be a 3% surcharge added to the check for the untipped staff. Don't think so. Left without eating.

Judith L.

Yelp
My family went there last for the first time this year. Right before the fireworks. All three got sick with stomach aches of various degrees of discomfort. They all had the pork. Never a problem in the past. Very disappointed. Not sure they will try it again. Was one of our favorite spots in town.

Kathy C.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I am not a huge BBQ fan but my husband is so we tried this place out. He had the beef brisket with tortillas, corn bread, brussel sprouts, cole slaw and pickle + IPA. I had the veggie burger with cole slaw and pickle. We split the nachos. We ate every bite. It was SO Delicious!!!! Perfect flavor, not too much salt or grease. Just quality and flavor. They make everything home made including fermented kimchi and pickles. I ordered jars of pickles to take home and cannot wait to go back. If you go, tell Sandra she is the best. Ps- awesome relaxed atmosphere and music. Chill vibe, cozy, good acoustics and lighting.

Frank M.

Yelp
Stopped in on a whim and I was very surprised how good the food was. Black bean burger with coke slaw and beef brisket with coleslaw brussels sprouts corn bread pickle & tortillas. I am only here for 2 more days but I'll be back for the 4 jars of pickles we ordered and I'm sure I will squeeze in another mouth watering meal too. IPA Beer was perfectly paired for me :-)

Claire D.

Yelp
Get the Carolina BBQ. SO GOOD. The beer were awesome, the staff was so nice and it was a completely chill setting. They even gave my little guy some extra attention bc it was his birthday.

Nicole D.

Yelp
The absolute WORST SERVICE I've ever received! We asked for burgers cooked medium, they were well done, after nearly finishing our meals our waitress asked how our meals were and we replied "fair" she walked away. We asked for ketchup upon the delivery of our food and never received it. Beers were left empty with no inquiry about refills the entire time. We asked for the bill and our waitress told my father to go inside to pay because she "walks in and out too much and walking 5 extra steps would be too much", we apologized for potentially inconveniencing her to simply pay our bill to no response. I am so disappointed as I was so excited to bring my family to Wolfeboro to a brewery/restaurant and be treated so poorly as a customer with such unprofessional service. I was embarrassed by the service and will not be returning. It's so unfortunate.

Butt J.

Yelp
Went in here to try some beers. Sat at the bar and no one helped us. Ok, fine, seemed like there were only two bartenders and two guys working in the kitchen so they were busy. Waited 20 minutes as the bartenders got drinks for people sitting outside and never once asked what we wanted. Eventually one bartender asks the other if we've been helped, and they realize no one has helped us. One of the bartenders asks what we'd like, we tell them... aaaaand they just pour a small 2oz sample for my wife and don't pour me anything despite asking. Honestly seemed like a joke. Waited another 5 minutes and decided to just cut our losses and leave. Gotta be the worst brewery I've ever been to and I redownloaded Yelp just to leave this negative review.

Troy W.

Yelp
You can tell a lot of passion is behind the beer and food at this fine establishment. I stopped in as part of my mini NH Brewery Tour and was delighted to find this to be my favorite, hands down. I lived for a decade in the Southeastern United States, which has good beer but as I'm sure you're aware is famous for its smoked meat. This meal rivaled anything I've ever had, anywhere. I will be dreaming about it until I can return. If you like smoked meat and fermentation get here and come back often. Also a nod to the team, so friendly and inviting. Keep up the great work, you've got something super special going on here!

KC B.

Yelp
They don't take any precautions for covid. And if you mention it to them they become rude & belligerent to the extent that they call their customers names & insult them. Take your business elsewhere because they won't appreciate you.

Tom S.

Yelp
Was a busy Saturday night, staff was working since noon. Great food. Great Vibe Great service and great decision to eat there. Will return, more frequently

Haley L.

Yelp
Eddie and his crew at Burnt Timber know the true meaning of hospitality - you're guaranteed a friendly face and great service here. Food and drinks are top notch too. The fried chicken sandwich is a must try. Sandra makes the best mocktails in town which has been a huge bonus for me during pregnancy

John L.

Yelp
Definitely done my share of breweries. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a gem in Wolfeboro off the water. Service was a 10! Local bites were awesome. Chef Nikki whipped us up a crawfish and shrimp spring roll. Fantastic! Beer selection was short but all their brews were very good. Darn Rhubarb saison ran out as we walked in the door.

Lisa D.

Yelp
Amazing food!!! The brisket and pulled pork are delicious and some of the best I've ever had. We are happy to have found it.

Peter C.

Yelp
Don't go here. If you are from out of town you will be invisible to the staff. Several people arrived after us and were greeted and served. Stay away

2025 William D.

Yelp
This place has a fantastic flavor and atmosphere I would recommend it for a casual evening that's my opinion I would eat here again

Paul T.

Yelp
Excellent beers and very tasty burgers!! Very friendly, helpful team to make beer and go oof suggestions! Well worth the drive from Portsmouth. I had the sirloin burger w some bacon added and it was delicious!! The lady had the lamb burger which was so good I never had even so much as an offer to try it We had the Dank-a-sawrus, the Barley and Bees and the S'mores Porter. All very good, so good in fact we got some DankaSawrus to take home. Definitely recommend you come check this grEat spot out!!! Cheers!!

Mark G.

Yelp
Nice place! Beer is delicious, had the Fullsend, a really good Porter. Also had the veggie burger, Vermont goat cheese and jam, and a honey coated pretzel. No complaints. Spoke with one of the owners as well and she was very gracious. Highly recommend.

Tom F.

Yelp
Great food, the staff is super friendly, and had great beers on tap. They even gave my son a piece of carrots cake for his birthday, It was obvious part of one of the staffs fathers day presents. We will go out of our way everytime we come up to NH to eat here.

Scott M.

Yelp
To be worth $16 a burger has to be good. This one was. The place seems to cater to regulars. Staff was friendly. They are all about odd ales; the "fullsend" is the sweetest, chocolatiest ale I've ever tasted. Will come again.
