Burr & Co. Edinburgh

I had coffee and cake at Burr & Co and it was beyond exceptional. The cake is very fresh and the coffee is perfectly brewed. I also had a Chicken Tikka Wrap which was great. The atmosphere is perfect! There is a rusty ambiance that makes the cafe special. I highly recommend stopping by!

I work opposite Burr & Co and often stop off for a takeout flat white on the way into the office. Sometimes for a bacon roll too. The coffee and bacon rolls are delicious but the standout for me is that the staff are unfailingly friendly and kind. Highly recommended.

I can highly recommend Burr and Co, not only great coffee, but great food too. I particularly like their breakfast, and their cake, yum. Great location, always busy, good vibes, and very friendly staff, especially Nic if he is about. Nic is so polite, courteous and provides the best possible customer service, and he is a character, and every establishment needs a character. So do check it out, you won’t regret it.

Popped in for coffee on a sunny day and sat outside. Was delightful. I had a pink lemonade loaf cake was delicious. My friends enjoyed the freddo cappucino drinks!

Very chic and stylish coffee house. Very good cappuccino topped with powdered chocolate. Had the small size and enjoyed every sip. They offer some pastries, cakes sandwiches and snacks on display.

Burr and Co. is downstairs in the hotel I stayed in while in Edinburgh. I went for breakfast Wednesday morning. The cortado was exceptional and the egg sandwich hot the spot. The young people working there were very helpful and gave suggestions on where to visit. Today I got both breakfast and lunch before I sadly take the train to London. Nick was behind the counter today and was fantastic, handling a very busy restaurant while being generous with his time and suggestions during the lull between rushes. Excellent service. I will return to Edinburgh and when I do I will return to Burr and Co.

The sandwiches were great with good chewy bread and well seasoned ingridents. The beetroot vegan option worth a trial. The cake was really moist and not too sweet. Coffee was with good aroma and temperature. Tea was a bit off as just one teabag was not strong enough for the whole pot. A very self service place including seating and chairs. The counter had ran out of options and refill time took way longer than customer's queque. Very busy place indeed.

I think the experience depends if it's a wknd or wk day visit.I have been for a coffee & cake on a Saturday when there's been older/senior staff who have been chatty and welcoming but the younger staff during the wk have little communication skills based on the last 4 visits. A real shame as the coffee, cakes and food are delicious and fairly priced and the building itself is quite special.

Some coffee shops in Edinburgh can feel like they could be anywhere in the US, but this one has a distinct UK charm that made it feel special right away. Cozy and perfect whether you're grabbing something quick or sitting down to relax. We stopped in for hot drinks and a breakfast sandwich, served warm or cold, and liked it so much we came back other times, including to grab sandwiches to take with us on a tour. They've also got tasty baked goods, and the space has seating nooks and window seats, ideal for people-watching if you have a little extra time. Overall service: Always friendly and genuinely welcoming. Highly recommend for a break, a quick bite, or something convenient to go.

Great coffee and a delicious yogurt and fruit bowl to get us started for the day. It's attached to the Intercontinental hotel, so a bit pricey, but that didn't seem to stop the mix of tourists and local workers in for a caffeine hit. A good find!

Best Iced coffee I've ever had. Iced Bailey's Latte. So much so I had 2 in a row! I ended up from here 4 times. Service wasn't terribly quick but it wasn't bad either. Its a nice cozy place if you can find a seat. The food looks amazing although I didn't have any. The feedback from my friends was that the regular coffee was amazing!

My homegirl and I needed coffee and a place to continue our chat and fortunately we found this cute cafe on George St. I never noticed it before, but I love this place cause it reminds of a cafe if find in NYC... It just has that "feeling" if you know what I mean?! It's a pretty small cafe and the menu is standard. You got the different types of cakes and nibbles... (They have an opera cake) and the typical coffee drinks such as flat white and latte. I got the latte since that's my go-to drink... It was ok, not like the lattes I get when I'm in Italy, but close enough. There are many small tables so this is a great place to catch up with a friend or if you just want to chill. The decor is simple, urban chic and the staff are friendly. The prices is decent for coffee... The flat white and the latte cost around £4.50 in total. I'd definitely come back here for a cup of latte...

Meandering along George st, I spied this new coffee house, situated just past The George hotel . As the caffeine levels were in serious need of a top up I popped in for a flat white late in the afternoon . The staff were very friendly and helpful and whilst waiting for the barista to brew my drink, I couldn't help but notice they had a great array of home baking that looked delicious . This was noted for a return visit hopefully in the not too distant future

I'd been meaning to try Burr & Co for a while after seeing them at the recent coffee festival. As part of The George hotel it's a bright and modern looking venue. The bar takes up quite a lot of space and if it's busy things could get a bit cramped. There's a little space to the side with a bit more room, and if you catch it when it is relatively quiet this is a nice place to sit for a while. A friend and I escaped the Edinburgh rain and sat at the window seats looking out across George Street. We had a couple of flat whites and a blueberry muffin. The coffee is good - certainly above average, although I don't think it's quite up to the highest standards elsewhere in the city. There are a lot of *really* good coffee places relatively nearby however so I can't myself coming here just for the coffee. I'm no Mary Berry, but the blueberry muffin was a bit disappointing; it was pretty under baked and had collapsed so it was a bit of a disappointment. Having said that I think I may have just had bad luck as a lot of the other baking (including some nice savory scones) looked tempting. It seems like a solid choice. I will hopefully come back and try some more of their food as I think this could end up being a good lunch spot.

This place wasn't on my list of coffee houses to try, but due to the Wellington having no spaces was my second choice due to location. Yelp has actually let me down for the first time ever, as this place isn't high up on the list of good coffee places, and I personally feel that this is not fair at all. As soon as you walk in, you're transported to a classy, Parisian coffee shop with a Scottish twist. Looking out on the beautiful George street, the servers in edgy denim aprons, and the coffee made from the infamous caravan roasters. Playing soft beat jazz music, you immediately feel relaxed and like you could spend all afternoon here. I opted for a flat white and with it being Valentine's Day, thought it was especially fitting that my latte art came with a heart. It was a great coffee with the milk foamed nicely to create a smooth, silky texture that complimented the bean. I really like it here, and hope it climbs the ranks in the yelp world like it deserves. Burriliant!

Nice little coffee shop attached to the George hotel. I had this place on my radar to try. Quite a stylish place, with fancy lighting and decor. Loved the Neales yard hand wash and lotion in the bathroom. A couple of things that irked me were that staff clearing tables for folk to sit down at, never wiped them down so they were still covered in crumbs. The glasses the coffee were served in weren't double walled coffee glasses so were hot to pick up. I had a flat white and it was ok, but had a bitter under taste to it. My husband had a latte which was slightly better but with the same bitter taste at the end. With a change of coffee bean and a bit of staff training, Burr could be a great wee coffee shop.

This place is located on George Street near St Andrews Square. I never noticed it before. Today was the day to try it out. It's a small coffee shop adjacent to a hotel. The only table left was a long table with "moving" seats connected to the table and which was shared with other coffee lovers. Anyway, they were not the most comfortable seats :-) And our conversations were definitely overheard by our neighbours who could not hide their listening tactics. lol. I ordered a latte at the counter and had to wait quite a bit for it. They bring the hot drinks to you and you are given a table number. The coffee was quite strong and had a sour underlying taste to it. It's a quaint little place and a lovely add on to George Street and best visited by a quick pass by for a caffeine replenishment rather than a lingering environment for a group of friends. It's too small for larger groups that might want some more social time! Enjoy!

I don't give many reviews, meaning writing this one makes this place worth it. The moment you walk in, you're surrounded by catchy jazz music and just an overall aesthetically pleasing coffee shop. Every coffee I've tried was great. Also- I feel the need to mention the s'mores set up they have, super cool when with a small group of people. All in all, a really great place :)

A newer coffee house soon George Street. A good selection of eats and very good coffee :)

Late May 2018: Placed our order for a coffee and a breakfast sandwich...got our coffee, then as our breakfast sandwich was heating up we got to watch the barista (as directed by the morning manager) come from around the counter and clean up the resident puppy's (Nala) piddle puddle with her hands and a rag, then come back, wipe her hands on another rag (no washing), wrap and hand us our sandwich. We left without our sandwich.

Great atmosphere. Tasty ham and cheese croissant. Chocolate & Avocado cake was moist and delicious. Cafe style set up. Good prices and friendly service.

Shoreditch hipster coffee in Edinburgh! In all their industrial-chic, bearded glory wooh :) It was a treat to find this new coffee spot right in the town centre. The frontage looks inviting and glowy but it was the sound of jazz music that actually lured me inside. Their own blend coffee made for a yum smooth latte, courtesy of the lovely trio of gents behind the counter. I had a meeting to get to this time so I took out, but I did spy some cakes that I could definitely be tempted to take a seat for next time!

Very friendly staff, we've been here just for an afternoon tea and it was quite relaxing, seating is not too comfy but we still liked the place, brownie was good, I actually didn't like the chocolate muffin

This place was recommended to me by someone who knows coffee, so naturally, I had to try it. It was a Saturday afternoon, so was exceptionally busy. The interior is very sleek and doesn't feel like any other coffee shop in Edinburgh. I agree with Angelo E. it has a NYC feeling, which is nice. They use Caravan coffee and even with it being busy, the staff seem to have a good system down to get people served. They don't have soy milk so I opted for an almond milk flat white and my partner got an espresso. I also was tempted by the vegan carrot cake, so ordered that as well. We were able to snag a seat in the window, overlooking George Street, which was a nice place to enjoy our coffee. The coffee's came quickly and mine tasted really nice, it is a very citrusy coffee and was nicely made. The cake was very tasty, nice and moist, my only complaint being that the icing tasted sort of like a lemon cleaning product. You really can't fake a good icing, so I think it would have been far nicer without it. They did have a lovely range of cakes and smaller food options at the counter. I would definitely go back, there is lots of seating, friendly staff and it feels very chic!
