Excellent diner for burritos after a trek. The outdoor seating has numerous games for the kids where they can relax after a long hike in the backwoods. Lines can be long, but its friendly food -- not fast food. Its well worth the wait, go and grab yourself the green chili lemonade -- delicious.

Such a fun and unique stop! Kathleen’s Burrito Banquet isn’t your typical restaurant—it’s an experience. We were greeted with friendly smiles and ended up staying longer than planned because we couldn’t stop playing the games. It felt like stepping back into childhood! The vibe is super inviting, and you can tell a lot of love goes into this place. Highly recommend for anyone looking for good food and a good time!

We arrived around the posted opening time and had the place to ourselves! The food was hot and fresh and my child was offered samples of the meat to see if they liked it before committing to an order. They loved it and gobbled up their burrito and best lemonade in the county. Kathleen was super friendly and accomodating. We stuck around and played some of the games. Love the atmosphere.

I have never seen a business owner so excited to share her food with the world in my life. Kathleen is personable with every customer that comes through her line, and that line has been incredibly long every time we've driven by. The food was hot and fresh, made daily. Our orders were made immediately right in front of us, and the service was quick. I got the bean burrito along with the cheezie (basically a cheese only quesadilla). The burritos were a little messy but tasted excellent, as was the cheezie. The red salsa that comes with the meal was good, although she warned us it may be spicy. (It was relatively mild). My only critique is that I think the burrito would be elevated quite a bit by a good chicken or beef option to go into it. I'll also never understand the New Mexican obsession with green chili, but that's a regional thing. Overall, we will absolutely be back. Outside of the food review, I have never seen a business support scouting the way this one does. Kathleen's passion for supporting the scouts coming and going from Philmont nearby is infectious, and you can tell the scouts love her right back.

Drive through town and decided to try this place. Food was very good. Our group ordered burritos, chili and chips. Salsa was pretty hot and was very good. Lemonade was also good. If you can ring the big silver ball in the back she buys your lemonade. The service was nice and friendly. Different type of atmosphere. It’s more like a taco truck and you can take it to go or eat on some picnic tables. No bathrooms so don’t plan on that. Definitely recommend.

When my troop visited we had one of the best times at any restaurant we’ve ever been to, Kathleen was quick witted and incredibly funny, kind, and welcoming. The food was immaculate, the green chili lemonade especially was addictive(she makes them into popsicles be sure to ask for them), and she even has handmade Philmont arrowhead chocolates. I will be back here some day no matter what, deserves more than 5 stars.

This place is amazing! The food is great and reasonably priced, but that's just the beginning. Kathleen, the owner, is super friendly, encouraging the patrons to sing and dance to classic music from the 70s. Once you receive your food, you can go behind the food truck and relax at a table, benches, chairs or a futon to eat. There are a variety of free games that you can play for rewards such as refills on your drink or a chocolate. Free cookies and fruit are provided. My group of scouts intended to grab a quick bite and then go on. We ended up spending almost two hours relaxing and playing. This place is a must when visiting Cimarron!

I'd give 20x more stars if I could!!! I'm usually not one to stop at an outside-only eatery, but I heard such great reviews from other Scouters that I had to try it!! Kathleen is super friendly, so speedy, and serves the most amazing food (and quite possibly the best lemonade I've ever had!) And it was absolutely affordable! [I only wish the fresh tortillas were sold on their own because they were so delicious.]

A wonderful meal after a long trek at Philmont. The food tastes great, the service is friendly and quick. And there's a ton of activities to do when we were done eating. This is a really fun place.

The taste in the green chili is as big as Kathleen's personality! Come for lunch, but stay for the hospitality! Games for all ages, free fruit and cookies on the table, and don't forget to try the green chili lemonade! All outdoor seating works well with the great Cimarron breeze. If you love the Scouts, take a look at the Scouting patches guests have donated. This is a must stop whether visiting Philmont or passing through to Red River.

Do yourself a favor and stop by for a delicious lunch, perfect lemonade and the friendliest customer service you'll ever find. There's a reason there is always a line in front of this place. You can't get this kind of food at a chain or corporate restaurant. This is all about the effort and the love the owner puts into her work. Thank you, Kathleen!

Woke up and craved some breakfast burritos, so got a coffee at Hiker's and walked down to Burrito Banquet that advertised breakfast around 10AM. Kathleen, the owner, was setting up and informed us that she only does lunch these days and would be open at 11. So we went to the Aztec Mill Museum to kill some time and came back right at 11 to get our craving fulfilled. My daughter said that Kathleen was beautiful with a wonderful smile that shone past the packed canon on her hip. Got 2 steak with X-mas sauce and a bean and cheese. These all came with chips and some great homemade salsa. The lemonade washed it all down before we went to the Canyon to hike Clear Creek Trail.

We heard about this place from a friend and had to check it out. We ordered the burrito and it came with chips. The line was long but it moved very quickly. The lemonade is the best in town.

Excellent New Mexican Burros, fun friendly service. Clean and airy patio just off the road. The green chile lemonade was refreshing and unique.

We stopped on our way through and the whole experience of Kathleen's Burrito Banquet was so great that we stopped again on the way home. Kathleen was so welcoming and her food is so flipping AMAZING!! Make sure to stop next time you are coming through Cimarron, NM.

Ring the bell! Proprietor super friendly, welcoming. Ring the bell on a carnival bell tower for a free lemonade. Excellent burritos with FRESH ingredients. Charming, shady, breezy outdoor eating area with music and free tangerines.

The best! Buckle your seatbelt. You are in for some incredible conversation, amazing food and a visit with a three-legged dog. Did I mention the most amazing outdoor dinning west of the Mississippi? If you are in the area and BB is open stop by for a great experience (and don't forget the green chili lemonade!!!).

The owner, Kathleen, is very friendly and makes you feel welcome right away. Not a huge menu, but a great place to stop for a quick bite on the road. Would definitely come here again.

Burrito Banquet has the yummiest food. The veggies are fresh & the tortillas are too. everything was priced well and there was outdoor seating! The owner is so nice and she had options to accomodate our meat eating and vegetarian family. I can't wait to come back.

We stopped by after our Philmont trip. The owner was very friendly and was out there playing games with the youth in between orders. We all had a lot of fun and she was generous in giving out cookies and oranges. The chili lemonade was amazing! The menu was straightforward and the food we ordered was tasty, but to put it mildly, the portions were small. I thought I was getting a deal -- $9 for a burrito and chips and salsa -- until I got it. It was served in what amounted to a paper hot dog tray. Heck, the burrito we got at Abreu camp was at least twice as large. There was more than one "this is a great appetizer, where are we going for dinner?" going around the table. Ultimately we stuffed ourselves on the free oranges and cookies, played a ton of games, then went back to camp to have some of the snacks left from the trail. Glad we went, but I'd only do this again at the beginning of a trek, not the end when you're craving lots of real food.

This place really surprised me in such a positive way! Very family friendly, and an owner whom is super friendly and wanting to make sure you have a great time! And the burritos were SOOO tasty! I would have had a second if I didn't have a 9 hour drive home. 10/10 would come back!

We stoped at this adorable place on the way out of town from our weekend getaway in Cimarron. We ordered 3 burritos, a tostada, and two lemonades which one was FREE with a hit at the bell tower (so much fun)! Unknowingly all they accepted was cash we went over the $20 we had and so graciously was given our order regardless! Lovely place and highly recommend. The red Chili is one of the best!!!!

One of the best parts of road trips are the unexpected stops that turn into great stories and life long memories. While driving through Cimarron New Mexico on our last day of vacation we saw a woman waving a sign saying burritos.Thankfully my fiancé and I stopped, turned around, and went back to the cute burrito trailer. Kathleen met us with hospitality like we were family stopping by to visit. She explained the menu and we ordered our breakfast burritos. We ordered a lemonade (on the house if you can swing a hammer and ring the bell) and an Arnold Palmer. We decided to sit and eat there as she has a fun and comfortable outside seating area that is pet friendly. She offered us fresh fruit that was in baskets on the tables. Our burritos were delicious and we loved her fresh salsa. What a treat. We will be back.

We were told by lady at old mill this was the place to eat lunch and man was she right . I had carnitas burrito and my wife the red chile Frito pie. Excellent and very friendly We will be back !!

Great place to spend a few hours. We had burritos, tostadas, chips and salsa. Great service and food! Also, delicious Texas tea and lemonade!

The lemonade was advertised cold and it was, indeed, very cold. Served in plastic cups with a smile and a friendly joke. And they were free with a heavy hammer. After a long morning of fishing, the cold Nectar brought us back to life and already scheming on our next adventure. Now onto to the food. Our chili could not have been better inside or out, both green and red, and the burritos had even us Texans proud. Everything came with extra spicy sauce and a side of a positive attitude from the staff. All was much appreciated. We were skeptical at first based on the old trailer and tourist-indulgent signage outside. But the Banquet is testament that restaurants, much like the people that run them, are not tethered to their outside appearance--in this case, hipped Bowie knife and revolver included. They can surprise you time and time again. Carry on! Carry on!

We had lunch here while visiting our son who is working at Philmont this summer. It was delicious and I highly recommend this place! Amy took your order, made it up, then delivered it to our picnic table behind her food trailer...all with a smile...you can tell she enjoys serving her customers! Everything was fresh and super good! If you're in Cimarron, you want to eat here for sure!

We rambled into rough and tumble Cimarron NM bright and early on a Sunday morning. Hungry as hell and looking for some tasty breakfast, we headed to the St. James hotel. Alas! Twas not to be, those lazy folk were not open until 11 and there were trout to be caught later. Slighty dejected but still ravenous, we began to prowl around for alternate spots. Enter burrito banquet, the proprietress even waved us down to make sure we enjoyed. This is Sunday morning at 8:00 am for the love of god. She is a true hustler. The burritos were amazing, lemonade to die for, and fresh homemade salsa! This coming from a Texan who has scarfed his fair share of burritos/tacos/salsa. She also packs heat and a knife in case highway people (its 2018) show up. In summary--this place embodies everything that truly makes America great, before any new age slogans muddied the waters and cheapened the phrase. If you're within 100 miles stop here, do yourself and America a favor.

After seeing some reviews here and other online locales, I decided to stop by Burrito Banquet as I was passing through. I tried the Grand Male (deluxe burrito). It came with the choice of green chile or red chile seasoned meat, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese and was accompanied by a side of chips and salsa (the salsa is made by the proprietor). I sampled both the red and the green chile and both were excellent, but the toppings and chips were generic fare. I do wish the burrito was a little bigger, however. The drink selection is limited to iced tea, homemade lemonade, RC Cola and a citrus soda (I don't recall the brand). I would definitely stop here again.

Awesome little place on the road. Both locals and tourists visit this little Gem mostly Tex Mex Style food served fast and hot. Lots of circuses a original Carnival Bell to try and ring if you dare and photo props. A Well shaded eating area and of course your host and armed guard Amy. STOP AND SAY HELLO SOME TIME.

My wife and I saw Kathleen holding a breakfast burrito sign on the side of the road passing through Cimarron, NM this morning and couldn't say no. I am so glad we stopped. One of the best we have ever had and the Lemonade was amazing. Definitely trying to stop on our way back home!

This is nice little food truck type establishment. It has eight different kinds of burritos. You are able to ask for extra toppings or fewer toppings. Bring cash. It's a cash only place. The guy inside was super nice. We both had the carnita and beans burritos. They even gave us some chips and salsa. Yummy, yummy salsa.

We rolled in hungry as all get out after riding in from Amarillo and forgetting the time change. Luckily the owner cornered the market with a 10 AM start. This is an impressive one woman show. Fresh ingredients, friendly as all get it, and tasty food. We loved the uniburrito, flauta, and the frito pie. She said it was the best lemonade in the county and I would agree. Overall great experience and totally out of the norm.

I dropped by here while cycling through Cimarron. I ordered a Tostada with red and green chile, and it was amazing. The staff were also super friendly. If you're in the town, make sure to stop by -- just remember to bring cash :) I would definitely like to try the other burritos.

The Banquet is a Cimarron establishment, and it is soon closing. It was my first food truck! She offers award winning salsa with chips on every order, and the lemonade, tortillas, chili, et al, are all prepared right there. Yes, sometimes I wish the burrito was bigger, but I was eating these long before I'd even heard of Chipotle. 2013 marks the 29th year of the Burrito Banquet being business, and the owner has told me directly that 30 years is long enough. I really hope she does a t-shirt or something to commemorate its heritage.

Great homemade burritos and more! Try the chicharon or carne adovada, they are both delicious! Can't go wrong with a glass of sun tea or fresh made lemonade to finish it all off. Good prices and friendly service!

I had the Totale burrito and it was big and filling. It comes with red or green chile, beans, cheese, onion, lettuce, and tomatoes. I added avocado and it was yummy! Amy's Burrito Banquet was formally known as the Burrito Banquet. She has Frito pie on the menu which is the north eastern New Mexico favorite. It's made with corn Frito chips, red chili, cheese, onions, lettuce and tomato. She offers a choice of burritos and even a vegetarian selection. The salsa was tasty and not too spicy.. Just right.

Unbelievably delicious homemade tortillas and chili. The green chili was absolute perfection. If you're in Cimarron, this is the place for fresh and friendly Mexican food! Kathleen is friendly and energetic and such an incredible host.

Maybe it was after being on the trails at Philmont for two weeks, but this blew me away! I was a little hesitant ordering food from a trailer, but looks are definitely deceiving in this case. The only problem I've run into is once ingredients are gone, they're gone for the day.

Food was good but not great. Wish they had a few more choices such as a quesadilla to choose from as well as a few more drink choices. Cool outdoor atmosphere and neat little place. I would go back.
