Ohhhh yeah - juicy and flavorful meat stuffed into house-made tortillas....yessssss!
On our El Paso vacation, my sister-in-law and brother-in-law mentioned that Crisostomo is very popular across the border and luckily opened up not too far from their house. We originally went by at 7:55 PM on Saturday night to find it closing down (bummer) but decided it would be lunch on Sunday.
Sunday, we all peered at the online menu. Everyone wanted to try 2 burritos but I was not sure how big they would be. We got the orders (the in-laws wanted breakfast ones but it was after 11 AM, so we got contingent orders figuring breakfast would be over, which it was).
We were greeted with a hearty "Buenos tardes!" and proceeded to order 7 burritos and 2 horchatas. The staff seemed amused with us because we ordered so many for 2 people, but it was really for 4 people and we took it to go. You can choose to add frijoles for free to each burrito. They did not have guacamole unfortunately, which would only have been 50 cents per side order.
Burritos are around $3 and there are 15 different flavors after breakfast (3 specialty,12 regular menu) plus 3 breakfast ones. We got 3 chicken mole, 1 lengua, 1 barbacoa, 1 deshebrada, and 1 chile relleno. When we got back to the house, the s-i-l and b-i-l loved their horchata. My b-i-l said the deshebrada was spicy. The lengua was my choice and it was juicy, tender, and included diced potatoes and green chiles. Mmmmm! It had a little zing to it. Eric R. promised to share his barbacoa with me, and he said it was the hardest thing he ever did to give up half of it to share! It was very yummy, oozing with grease but heck, we only live once! The meat melted in the mouth.
I would definitely come back here - it is quick, cheap, and tasty. CASH ONLY!
