"This former mill in the northern part of Aruba hints at the island’s relatively unknown gold rush. First discovered in 1824, gold remained an important Aruban industry until around 1916, with the island producing more than 3 million pounds in total. The precious metal is even reflected in Aruba ’s name, which roughly translates to “there was gold.” At this historic site, windswept stone ruins stand in the middle of a wide expanse of untouched land."

Pretty nice place to take a few pictures inside the ruins. There is also a natural pool near the ruins which you climb down on a ladder. Highly recommended to go to the natural pool. It is also near the off road trail which is amazing. This was part of my utv tour.

Buchiribama Ruins – A Forgotten Spot for the Adventurous If you’re up for something a bit off the beaten path, the Buchiribama Ruins might catch your interest. Located along the same coastline but quite far out, getting there is part of the experience. There’s no pavement leading to the site, but the road itself isn’t in terrible shape—it’s just a bit remote. Once you arrive, you’ll see that the term “ruins” is pretty accurate. The place is completely abandoned, and while there’s a sign that clearly says “Do Not Enter,” most tourists ignore it to snap a few photos inside. There’s a strange charm to how untouched and forgotten it feels, which might appeal to those who enjoy exploring hidden or lesser-known places. Don’t expect any facilities, guides, or crowds—it’s really just you and the ruins. If you’re someone who enjoys a little adventure and wants to see something different from the usual tourist attractions, this could be an interesting stop. Just bring water, wear good shoes, and go with a sense of curiosity.

Such a pretty drive out here and so scenic once you’re here. It’s within the national park area and the whole area is so cool to explore. Highly recommend while visiting Aruba.

Real rugged terrain. Had lots of fun. I would suggest getting the Googles prior to this adventure.

We love going to visit ruins on vacation. We rented a 4x4 with the excitement of seeing this and all the other stops on the way. This one was not much of a ruin, but more of a dilapidated building that was once used to make/process gold. There was a small food shack here which was nice after a long day driving the coast. It’s also about where the trails end and you get back to pavement. Definitely worth a stop if you’re already out there. It was a little busier when we went as the tour buses could get there and there were 3 of them…. Also a good indicator that you’re at the end of that trail!

I love history type places that you can climb in and this one was perfect. Climbing in the old fort and taking pictures of the ocean was so cool. Great place to visit
