Great stay at the Busta House Hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautiful. The restaurant serves delicious breakfast and dinner. They handle dietary issues very well. It’s history with modern amenities. It’s our second stay. It was fantastic in all ways possible.

The Busta House Hotel is fantastic. The quaintness combined with history takes one back in time. However, the amenities meet all of one’s needs. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. The restaurant and food is delicious for breakfast and dinner. They accommodate food allergies very well. It’s located centrally enough to site see all over Shetland. A special shout out of thanks to Grant and his team. We had a beautiful vacation!!

We were interested in the mysterious story of Busta House and thus wanted to dine there. The Long Room is wonderful, furniture and ambiance simply perfect. The restaurant however - another story. Servers are very friendly and helpful, but the food quality leaves room for massive improvement. How a restaurant can serve seafood that is not fresh, having the sea all around them, is beyond us. We were served with a more than questionable shrimp cocktail, watery and tasteless. We returned it, as it clearly was defrosted convenience food. We have been spoiled with fantastic food quality across the Shetlands during our entire stay. Busta House was the exception, unfortunately.

We were in Brae for a Hidden Hebrides walking holiday and didn't stay at Busta House. We did have our final group dinner at Busta House and it was excellent. Our six person group each independently chose the braised lamb and I judged this to be my best meal of our 3.5 week trip to Scotland.

A return visit after many years and we were delighted with our meal. The team looking after us were friendly, professional and very welcoming. We chose the Potato skins to share for starters with Lasagne and Banofee Pie to follow. Every plate was delicious with the Banofee Pie being the best we’ve ever eaten. Meals were fairly|priced too. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Once again I had a great welcome from the staff at Busta House on arrival for my nine day holiday. As usual I was allocated Foula , which being in the oldest part of this historic building is lovely and quiet. Full marks for the recent upgrade to the Wi- Fi throughout the hotel, meaning I could easily edit and upload photographs in my room. Previously this could be problematic due to those thick stone walls! |Full marks too to the chef for the quality (they use local produce where ever possible) and variety of menu options, which meant that I didn't select the same main meal twice during my visit.|One thing that I particularly enjoy about staying at Busta House is the way you can chat to other guests, ranging from locals, to first time visitors to those like myself who have been visiting the islands for years, in the famous Long Room lounge before and after your evening meal.|Looking forward to returning in Spring 2026!

Beautiful Hotel , feels like stepping back in time, in a really great way. Wonderful views, rooms comfortable and immaculate, food delicious and reasonably priced, staff so friendly and helpful. My only regret is not staying longer !

Stayed here for 3 nights on a walking holiday. Loved the location and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were very good. Rooms a little on the small side and beds could be bigger but bathrooms are newly refurbished and quite nice.

Yelp
A very unique and historic house to stay. The owner has such enthusiasm and love for his establishment. Took us on a tour of a newly refurbished room and he is trying to keep and expose the character of the building. This pride and enthusiasm spreads throughout all the staff who cannot do enough for you. Extremely accommodating. The food was excellent!!!! And our waitress Tanisha was the highlight of our time in Shetland. She was so charming.

Yelp
Wow what a gem! Trying to find spot open for lunch in the off season was harder than we thought. We arrived around 12 and were told they don't serve until 12:30 but we were welcome to have tea. Within 15 minutes our orders were in. Husband says it was the best steak he's ever had. The beef pie was delish too. Definitely a spot the locals love and you could tell there were a few regulars. And what great prices for such an amazing meal!

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about this place, or the people who run it and work there. The house and grounds are wonderful. Beautiful gardens among the rolling hills of Shetland, and the decor in the house itself has a charming, welcoming quality. The bedrooms were a bit plain, but ins a pleasant way, you know? The restaurant has a fixed-price menu every night, along with a menu from the bar, though this is no normal pub-food menu. It's similar to the choices one would have on the fixed price menu, and it's all wonderful! Their cook prepares some excellent food. It was hard to work up the motivation to go out and try other places when there was so much to enjoy in our own hotel! Not to mention breakfasts, with their delicious homemade bannocks. Now, I really have to hand it to the folks who work there. Incredibly friendly, and always there to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I really got a level of individual service there that I've scarcely seen before. And that truly brought the experience from merely pleasant to truly memorable. If you find yourself at Busta House- be it for a meal or for a stay- you will find yourself well taken care of, that's for sure! All in all, I loved staying here. It really added a lot to my Shetland vacation, and I would look there first when I hopefully return. It's about half an hour's drive from Lerwick, but well worth it.
