We were recommended to this place by another hostal (we had no reservation). The staff was really friendly right from the start and we fell in love with the old house. Good bed and shower.|Yes, the floors are squeeky. To us, the charm of this hostal made this perfectly ok. |We think they are slowly giving the rooms a facelift (fresh paint).|Breakfast was pretty good; ham, cheese, jam, butter, cereals and milk (non-sweetened: perfect!), cakes, tea, coffee and orange juice.

Hostal Bustamante is not the most comfortable hotel I have stayed in but, but it does have a number of pluses. The price was reasonable (we were staying over a summer weekend and not many places were available). The staff were very accommodating of our schedule -- we had two early mornings for going to Isla Magdalena to see the Magellanic penguins and to get to the airport for our flight back to Santiago. This included setting out breakfast before the normal time so that we wouldn't go hungry. The hotel is quite old with creaky wooden floors that are mostly uncarpeted = you hear every footstep in the corridor and on the stairs. There is also a bell that goes off every time someone goes in or out the front door, which was irritating when we were trying to get to sleep before our early morning penguin excursion -- but I slept much better on the second night, so it probably wouldn't bother everyone. We had twin beds, which were not too comfortable. However the shower was the best we had in our 3.5 weeks in Chile -- lots of hot water and great water pressure -- it was a real treat. The décor of the hotel relies on the museum-like display of antique and retro household goods, like TVs and radios, sewing machines, etc., etc.

Cracking wooden floors make this hotel even more romantic. Nice staff, good breakfast. Free coffee and tea 24 hours. The reception desk people will help you to origanize your excursions.||Really nice and economic prices!

The mattresses in our beds were very old and inconfortable. The shower in the bathroom did not work, the employees were not able to repair it. Finally, they gave us - after long discussions - another bathroom to use. The bedroom for this bathroom was unoccupied: why didn't they give us that bedroom (sunny, nice, big, working shower) immediately? Why did they put us in a horrible, dark room, although we had reserved months before?||Breakfast was okay, service there very nice. ||We got a paper where to put any complaints and I did so. ;) What was REALLY nice was a nearly immediate answer by e-mail from the hotel that they read my complaints and will work on it. ||Therefore I would possibly go there again, it seems that they take their customer serious.

It's a real old house, as in the surrounding there are much more. Due to its age (since 1920) creaky floors and stairs, but this is a big part of the charm of this house. ||||The breakfast room is kind of a museum and if you like old houses you will like also this one. ||Very good was the self-serving for coffee and tea (whole day), the breakfast is typical chilenean.||In the other public room they have a good library (multiple languages) - and a computer and printer with internet access.

Place is old fashioned in good way. When you go in it feels like you go 50 years back in time.||It is not fancy place but it has lot of charisma. Room was warm and there was plenty of hot water.||Would I go again? Yes!

We stayed two nights in room 6: Stains on the walls and pillowcases, broken lamp. In the bathroom everything was falling apart, broken tiles and not enough room to sit on the toilet. No WiFi in the room. Staff was well aware of all of that, but couldn't care less.

On our way back from Ushuaia(feb.3,2014) we stayed here,3 blocks from the bus station and a easy stroll to the center of town.Nice size rooms, with bathroom and TV and a very nice breakfast.||Very clean and a very quiet place.
