First off pricing from their website compared to in store was different, I was straight up lied to about getting my own meat back and in addition to that if you’re getting summer sausage or sticks made they will also charge you the custom meat price for pork instead of pork pricing. After paying $371 for my game meat and received someone else’s elk that was full of sand it really put a gritty taste for this business. This place is the worse around Portland/vancouver metro area for processing your game meat. In my order I purchased jalepeno summer sausage which was awesome tasting but had sand, the jalepeno sticks were okay, the standard pepperoni sticks aren’t good at all and the teriyaki pepperoni sticks were okay. Really disappointed that I could’ve saved all my elk meat and ground into burger and bought better store bought products for the same price and had better results.

Drove all the way up here from Portland and was TOTALLY worth it. Will be coming here from now on. Staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. Got a pound of pulled pork and some chicken kebabs for an excellent price. Much better to get meats here locally, than from the big box grocery stores where you never know what kind of meat you're getting. The meat here was fantastic and I could tell it was prepped with care and love. Thanks guys, can't want to come back; see you next time!

Pleasant experience, nice employees, prices are decent and they have a nice variety of meats. I bought smoked turkey wings and got two whole chickens cut into 8 pieces. I just recently started to visit butcher shops and they have been the best, I will make this a regular stop.

The best around! Had my deer processed in less than 2 weeks. Everything is well packaged, love that the pepperoni sticks are in smaller bags. Everyone there is super friendly and helpful. They even brought my boxes out right to my rig. Cannot recommend them enough. 10/10

An epicenter of beef, chicken, pork, sausage, jerky and all things meat. I'm on the search for the best sausage in the land. I picked up a hot link and a jalapeno cheddar link. This butcher boys is in Vancouver, but it is the best we’ve been going there for over five years. We have taken our wild game there to have pepperoni made .It’s a long drive but we do it. You have to call ahead before you drop off. They’re very busy but it’s worth it.

We really like Butcher Boys, have shopped there regularly for years, consistently good meat and nice variety. After moving from the area three years ago, we continue to stop occasionally when we’re in town. Recently we stopped for bacon and bacon wrapped filets, was surprised when there was no bacon whatsoever for sale in the meat case.

I brought in some flash frozen halibut and cod fillets, caught week before last in Alaska. When we unpacked them to put in the freezer, the white fish was in full slabs….just my wife and I, so what to do? Brought them into BB’s and they did a wonderful job of repackaging them into pkgs for 2 size’s!!!!! Thanks to Peter for approving it, and for Bobby helping me out! I got just what they are known for, Great customer service!

Last butcher's in town and probably the most affordable. Used them for years, as they were near my culinary school.

Went to Butcher Boys for the first time today. I'm glad I did! They have a huge variety of both fresh and frozen cuts of meat. They also have deli meats and other prepared meats that would make for a quick dinner. I went in because we have a hankering for Reuben Sandwiches and I wanted corned beef. It's hard to find corned beef in grocery stores. Several local stores have discontinued it in the last couple of years. The corned beef I got at Butcher Boys is delicious. It has a smokey flavor that is so good! I also like that it's not 50% fat. It had some fat but the ratio is perfect. When I walked in there were no other customers. One of the employees was singing loudly about chili dogs. It made me smile and know that this place has a nice atmosphere for employees. He stopped when I came in, but it was clear this is a happy place. The young woman who was working the counter was helpful and friendly and answered my questions easily. This was my first time there, but it definitely won't be my last!

Best bacon I've purchased Soo far, and I've purchased from a lot of places the short amount of time I've been here. The pepper bacon all the way. The applewood was also delicious but if you like pepper.... and I happen to l-o-v-e pepper, there's no other way. When I went last week it was 7.49 a pound I believe. I was trying to Yelp some decent local Mexican food and saw la costeña in the same parking lot, so I walked over while I waited for my order. Following guideline, appears to be very clean I'll be going back. Lots of frozen items to take on travels or keep in the freezer. Also purchased links, I'm excited

Best service ever! Well oiled machine! We came in on Christmas eve to get a gift for my father. Happy employees, helpful, and had us in & out in under 15min! No wait at all! Huge selection to "meat" your needs. We will come back!

Meat: 5 stars Customer service: 2 stars Hence 3 star review. Meet in the middle. We came here on a Tuesday. It was not busy at all and there were ton of people working. I tried to order a blend of ground meat that they sell for making burgers. My dad goes there all the time to purchase it. He always just tells them that he wants the blend of meat to make burgers. Then he said they go in the back to get it and bring it back out. However, when I went they looked at me as if I were crazy and they had no idea what I was talking about. The lady asked 2 other people that proceeded to ask me questions like "blend? Like a seasoning?" I said no and explained the situation about my dad purchasing the meat from them. They told me that they had no special blend and that they only use ground chuck for their burgers. I decided to just purchase the chuck because I was already frustrated. I got home, cooked it, and it was not the same ground meat blend. Even my dad said that it was the wrong one. I'm not sure why they decided to treat me as if I were insane and was making up some story. From now on I think I'll just send my dad to pick up my blend of meat for burgers. He has luck every single time he goes. I would definitely go somewhere else if I could find somewhere that made the same quality of burgers.

I purchased a marinated Tri-Tip. I threw in the Weber and cooked it to 125 over indirect heat and it was fantasti! made sliders out of it and they disappeared as fast as I could plate em!!!

I love this neighborhood butcher shop. It's the real deal. Their products are all delicious and fresh. They make fantastic sausages. They have Dino beef bones as well. These are hard to find fresh. I have been coming here for many years, and I shall continue. When looking for some delicious burgers to grill, they have fresh ground round! They also have some pre-made Items that are great. Chicken Cordon Bleu, pork cutlets, even twice baked potatoes. Highly recommend this place. I purchased some of their housemaid kielbas. It was so tasty and tender. Go and get you some! UPDATE- Butcher Boys never fails. Went there yesterday and got some good eats. They are using social distancing and mask practice. I love this place. This time I got some Cajun pasta salad, for the first time. It was yummy. Also a couple of beautiful ribeye steaks. We grilled them over charcoal and what can I say!? They came out amazing. So tender and juicy. I love Butcher boys. They are the real deal old-school butcher shop. I highly recommend you stop in and get you something delicious.

We reserved a brisket for Christmas and we needed to pick it up before a big storm. It wasn't a problem and we picked up some GREAT sausages.

We have been wanting to try out this place for a long time, just never got around to it. Went there to buy something to celebrate our anniversary and ask the counter man to sell us the best steak he had. Was a one-pound porterhouse, reasonably priced and very good. Had a vast selection of meat and we will be going there again.

Was over in VC today and had to stop in to get a supply of meat! They are handling customers in a very safe way for these times. You wait in line but it goes quick and you immediately have I rushed personal attention. For the first time I got one of their marinated flat iron steaks for the grill and we are in tears it is so damn good and tender! Their marinade is the best I have had. Thank you everyone at Butcher Boys for keeping open for us and for making us, and your staff, all as safe as possible.

Wonderful customer service - they truly care! When I have a BBQ, hamburgers are on the menu. I always get the ground beef here and get half the leanest and half the "middle one" and mix them together. The leanest is too lean but the "middle one" (ground chuck I think) cuts it just right so the patties are perfect and don't shrink like so many do. This is the only place I buy bacon - it is always good, the hickory smoke and the maple (I don't care for pepper). It will be especially desired with summer coming up and BLTs in the works. They have a mushroom stuffed chicken ready to bake that is fabulous! They have three versions with one having asparagus as well (those look like turtles with asparagus head sticking out!). We have shopped there for years and never gotten anything that was not first rate! I highly recommend them.

Stopped in on a whim yesterday - I've driven by it numerous times but it never really registered with me. I needed some burgers and bacon...and to be honest, I'd rather support a home grown butcher. I picked up a pound of ground chuck for the bbq today and I'm looking forward to it. The peppered bacon was cooked this morning (6 slice "test" purchase) and I had three slices with toast, eggs, coffee, avocado, and an apple...the bacon was beyond anything I could have hoped for! It was delicious, better than any "store" bought with great thickness and taste. I'm looking forward to grilling the burgers this afternoon. Oh, I also picked up a pork pepperoni stick and a buffalo pepperoni stick...the pork was spiced well and the buffalo was divine. Abby was my butcher and she was awesome, and extremely knowledgeable and helpful in assisting me. The entire staff was friendly! I won't be buying my meats from anywhere else. The pricing is a little more (ground chuck was $6/pound) but the quality and taste is much better (at least with the bacon; I'll find out with the ground beef later today). I picked up a turkey there today that we had ordered. The place was packed. They handled the situation very well and quite quickly. The best part was their attitude and friendliness! So courteous. Great team of employees they have there!

Butcher shop huh? 1.5" on one side and 3/4" on the other side when I asked for 1.5" steak. Don't waste your money. I know a meat shop on Killingsworth in Portland that is far better! Thought I would save time and try somewhere close but that ended up a bad choice. Two thumbs down for Butcher Kids! 0 stars.

We have been there twice. Each time the service and attentiveness when you enter and are next in queue for help is top notch. Excellent prepared, breaded and marinated meats to help make mealtime convenience. Most recently we did the breaded veal for some veal Parmesan and it turned out awesome. The breading was light and crunch at the same time with the right amount of seasoning. We also stocked up on sausage for breakfast and it had a better ratio of fat to pork than the grocery store selections. Great value on their specials and pre-pack meats for convenient grab and go buying.

I've been going here for the last few years. Great meats. Today I went in and one male customer was not wearing a mask. He was leaning over the counter and talking to an employee. I asked another employee what they can do about and they said nothing. I own a restaurant and I know that as an employer, you can refuse service. Remember no shoes, no shirt, nor service? Well just add a mask to it. I really dislike wearing a mask, but I'm doing to help the cause. No one has the right to purposely spread a disease. Since the ownership of Butcher Boys doesn't care enough to enforce the law, then I guess I'll be going elsewhere. I usually spend around $200 each time when I go there, but today, just $18 so I could just leave. I asked the guy to wear a mask and he mocked me. Too bad, I really liked this place.

I live in New Jersey and wanted to surprise my son, who lives in Camas, with a package of specialty & grilling meat for his birthday. After researching many locations, his wife suggested Butcher Boys as it is their "go to" for special occasions. Coming from two gourmet cooks, I felt confident with the choice. When I reached out, I found their staff to be patient, pleasant and accommodating with putting together exactly the order I wanted - they then had it ready to be picked up as requested. Final results - a successful surprise and delicious meals. Final note - I will use them again without hesitation and suggest that customers consider a "Grilling Package" as a unique gift for family and friends.

This is the second time that I've had an issue with my order from butcherboys. I ordered a 10 lb prime rib roast with light rubbed completely untrimmed and ask the person at the register three times to confirm that this was my order. Now Christmas day is come I have open the roast and see that it's been completely trimmed and it only weighs 8 lb. So I paid 150.25 for an 8 pound roast that was supposed to be 10 lb and I don't even have enough to feed the entire family. I'm extremely disappointed with you. Your Christmas hours they are open until 3 yet nobody will answer the phone or reply to my message.

Always very helpful with a lot of great options. Wish their hours were a little extended but that's on me needing to get their earlier in the day/week than on them.

5 Stars I wish I could give more. Great customer service and great selection. You can ask for dog bones, soup stock bones also I love that they will cut my meat thin enough to make beef jerky no matter what it's worth the cost just for the excellent customer service and wonderful selection of different meat and bones

This is my second year of taking my game meat to Butcher boys. It's the best I've ever had I'll keep bringing it in as long as I can get one to bring in. I've tried just about every kind of pepperoni and deer sausage I can find and this is hands-down the best I've ever had!

Morgan rocks. I've been coming in here for years. Morgan is a true old school Butcher Boys counter person. The prices here at Butcher Boys are right. If you're looking for something hard to find they probably have it.

I like the meat selection but I noticed some cleanliness issues today and the service was not great for the place being empty, also the staff was not very friendly. The person behind the counter saw me with a few items and told me I could set them on top of the case. Then pulled out a small plastic bag and said I could put what I had in there. I was still looking at items in the case and instead of asking what I'd like or even making small talk she barks at me "are you going to put it in the bag?" I ignored that and kept looking because I'm there to shop and I'm the only one there. She kind of huffs at me and puts two of my items in the small plastic bag and leaves the rest on the back counter. All my stuff wasn't going to fit in one of those tiny ass bags and I'm not there to be a bagger. She decides to come get stuff out of the case for me but then turns and starts a side conversation about someone's break. There's like 5 employees there and you're talking about one dudes break instead of talking to your lone customer. Rude. I felt like they didn't want my business. Weird customer experience...

High quality meats with great customer service! Nice selection, but wish they carried hamburger and hotdog buns. Great hotdogs without the aftertaste you get with Nathans. Ground beef is fresh and great tasing burgers. I smoked some ribs from these guys using the 3-2-1 method, and they are award winning pit master quality. put light coat mustard followed by Twisted Q rub from Fred meyers for an hour in fridge first and your ready to smoke or BBQ Super Clean establishment.

After going to "the other guys" in Portland all my life we switched to butcher boys. We haven't been back to those "other guys" going on 12yrs. The staff has always been awesome and their meat processing is the best around. We just took our sons first deer in and I'm pretty sure they were just as excited and happy for son as we were. We have turned our whole family onto them and the haven't been happier! Keep up the great work guys and gals!

Great selection! Yummy meats, great service. Very reasonable pricing. Clean store atmosphere. The store employees are more then happy to assist with my meat selection with great knowledge & suggestions. The whole family loves it.

I am very pleased with BB. They are the only place around that I have been able to find that makes/sells potato sausage, which is a Scandinavian sausage. I'm originally from north of Seattle and could get it just about it anywhere at anytime. When I moved out here to Vancouver I searched everywhere, then I found Butcher Boys. THANK YOU SO MUCH BUTCHER BOYS!

They have the best Black Forest ham, Christmas dinner wouldn't be right without it. Extremely happy with everything I have purchased over the years I've been going there.

I've gone here a few times for a better selection of meats. They have quite the spread of items that are difficult to find elsewhere, but last time I went, I had ordered a pound of bacon, but went to cook it up and found that it was ALL FAT! Never buying from them again. It wasent the first time they passed off fatty bacon, but this time it was bad.

I stopped in here to get some jerky. First thing I notice is that jerky here is $29 a pound. Wow! That is expensive. (jerky is $16-$18 at the best butchers in PDX) Still, I figured I would try it at least. I am waiting to be helped. I am waiting. I am still waiting. It is 1PM. There are only two employees at the counter for some reason, and at least 3 screwing around in the back. I'm not kidding- screwing around. Must have been the manager's day off or something? The kid behind the counter helping the person closest to me keeps poking his head back there, but apparently he's not saying anything, because no one is coming out to assist. Finally, someone comes out and helps the person that just walked in the door. This person hasn't been waiting around 10 minutes like everyone else. I ask the kid can he ask someone else to help out here, because I've got to get going soon. He looks at me and non apologetically, very rudely said "We'll get to you in a minute" I immediately left and won't be returning. Setting service issues and price issues completely aside (which are huge by themselves)- there is no way I will ever tolerate rudeness. My advice is this- Skip Vancouver for your butcher needs. There are several great ones in Portland (Gartners and Western Meat- both of which are in NE Portland) that are far cheaper, have super products and and far far nicer.

A great local butcher with a nice variety to choose from. Beef, pork, lamb, bison and chicken are all represented here, though the chicken pickings (pardon the pun) are a bit slim. The meat has always been very consistent of quality and customer service is top notch. Definitely the place to go if you don't want to venture down south. While it may not have the variety of some butchers, they will do you right in whatever way they can.

First off, they're not bad, but they are the closest butcher and we almost always go elsewhere, but they definitely are better than most of your grocery stores and they do have an excellent selection of cuts. The main problem we have is they always seem eager to pawn off fatty cuts of meat as being lean, and the prices are just too high to really be worth the extra hassle of asking the butcher's assistant to grab the pieces we actually point out and ask for, instead of the lesser cuts next to them. Ordering lean bacon can be a real challenge, and we HATE the "Pick a number" system because they ignore it when they feel like it. They aren't bad, and if you try the samples you can get to try some tasty pieces of this and that, and they do just fine with ground beef and such, but we usually just go elsewhere. Why settle for hamburger, if you really want a steak, right?

This is a convenient location for me if I want to get some meat. Grocery store meat these days seem to be off at times (taste, quality, etc). I enjoy going to a butcher to get what I need. In terms of service goes, it's not terrible if you go when it's not busy. However, the service is inconsistent: sometimes you will have someone (with experience) pack meat up very well and super OCD about it. Other times, they'll just stick it in a bag for you and it's all slimy. With that said, I really cannot complain too much as their prices are very fair, and the quality of their meat is better than most grocery stores around town. I would definitely recommend Butcher Boys over WinCo's meat. Compared to other butchers (like Gartner's, for example), I do get the personal mom and pop feel from Butch Boys (whereas at Gartner's it's so big and no one really cares there either). Butcher Boys is definitely no Neiman Marcus, but it's meat so it is what it is.

Honest, I have tried to be fair... I have lived in and around Portland for 30 years now. Recently I did a 1 year tour in "The 'Couv" and tried to get my meats for the Barbie from these guys. Alas, it was not to be. There are three cuts of meet most commonly found on plates in the United States. Prime, the best of the best, Choice, one step down from Prime and typically found at middle of the road restaurants, and Select which is what you get at the grocery store. A good butcher shop will sell ATLEAST Low Choice grade beef. Anyplace that sells Select grade beef is nothing more than a glorified grocery store asking its customers to pay a premium to buy meat that isn't wrapped in plastic. Butcher Boys appears to be selling Select grade meats at a premium price. I can get Select grade meats at the local Safeway more conveniently and at a lower price. There are plenty of places around town to get Choice grade beef from a glass case wrapped in white butcher paper. Butcher Boys, regardless of the name, is not any of them. Better off buying your meat at the Safeway where they at least test for tenderness with the SSF method even though it is Select grade. And the service was never that great especially compared to a real boutique butcher shop names of which I will not put in this review as that is just plain mean. If you want a good butcher shop, do YOUR research.

We love this place. They always give you 10/10 meat. We phoned in an order for an 8 lb prime rib, last minute on our way there, and after our 15 minute drive, it was already good to go. Excellent marbling in the meat, and although we haven't finished cooking it, I'm sure it'll make a great centerpiece for our thanksgiving.
