Butcher Shop Cafe Mudgee

We had breakfast here today while in Mudgee (29.6.25) Coffee was good and the food was nice but a bit pricey for what you got. ( French toast was only one piece of toast served with a scoop of ice cream. $27.50)

Very good coffee. Definitely recommended.

The Butcher Shop cafe is in , Yep an old Butcher shop. Stained glass windows, tall walls, old roof mounted racks, etc. Cool place, great vibe, The coffee and cakes are always amazing, They have a daily selection of fresh cakes, muffins, and pastries. You can sit inside or footpath tables with a view.

Had an amazing experience at Butcher Shop Cafe. Staff were friendly & extremely accommodating of our requests. Coffee was best we had in our stay in Mudgee, and food was delicious. Highly recommended the Potato & Chorizo Hash.

Googled cafes coming into town. Read the first review which was negative second positive thought it’s 50/50 see how we go. This place was awesome great coffee amazing breakfast highly recommended

Food was very hit or miss… we had two great meals and two really average ones. Coffee was very nice. However we were charged a 10% surcharge which is fine, but the service was quite poor and it took 45+ mins to get our food when it wasn’t too busy.

Very bad experience having breakfast here at the Butcher Shop Cafe. I don't know how they got 4.2 stars. I don't even want to give one star. This place is a rip off. I paid $12 for egg in toast and the taste horrible. It lack of presentation and shown very low dining standard. My wife orders salmon and avocado on toast and paid $18 for it. Same as mine. I can't taste anything and not worth paying $18. Sourdough bread is hard to chew and easily noticible that its a cheap bread.When you go just across the road, there is a place call Outside the Square Cafe. They have heaps better breakfast option with great taste and service. I will never come back here and wouldn't recommend.

Walked in and asked if there was a table for two, response “ if you can find one, otherwise we are full”. The cafe was busy however we found a table straight away. Ordered the pancakes for breakfast, $26 plus a 15% surcharge so almost $30. 50 minutes later we asked if our food was coming? Response “we are busy, I’ll check” We were told “because of the pancakes the order is taking a while” even though the table next to us (who arrived later) received their pancakes. When I received my pancake it was well undercooked, the waitress agreed and asked if I wanted another one, which I declined, luckily enough, I received a partial refund and left. Wouldn’t recommend this place when it’s busy. Also think $30 for one pancake is a little steep.
