The pub has limited opening hours so check on the Facebook page. It is open over weekends and on a Sunday, Julie cooks a lovely lunch that is takeaway. You can choose from a wide ranging menu and pick up on proper plates. The menu is published the week before and you call before 8 on the Saturday evening. Even better a fabulous team of volunteers deliver to the local community enabling people who can’t get there to have a lunch too. It’s always a friendly welcome and we are happy to support them.

Take away is delicious, home cooked and provided on a proper plate. (Just take it back when you pick up your next take away) Good sized servings make this excellent value for money. This has become a regular Thursday night treat. Hubby and I are currently working our way through the menu. Make sure you order early in the day to ensure the chef has good time to prepare and cook food for you. Enjoy! 😊

The Sunday lunch takeaway service is fantastic. The choice of meat and generous portions size lasted us for a couple of days and the price meant we'll be back!

We went for the Greek evening. The food was outstanding with an amazing selection of authentic and very tasty dishes. Not only that but separate dairy free portions were made for my wife who has an allergy. In fact the only item she couldn't have was grilled halloumi cheese. Our four dogs were also made most welcome. The value for money was excellent and we had a truly fantastic and memorable meal. Our grateful thanks for so much effort made.

The Sunday lunch was delicious, very friendly people too

Had a Sunday roast. Very disappointing, why they can't offer fresh veg is not great. The meat was ok but the whole dinner took me be back to school dinners of the 1970's. No taste and anemic looking. At over £40 for a family Sunday dinner you would hope for more quality. Friendly staff was the only plus. Shame as local pubs thrive on reputation and recommendation.

Sadly pub is closing but will hopefully reopen in December 2018 with Julie still at the helm. Excellent food and amazing staff. Edit, now reopened. Closed all day Mondays and at lunchtime on Wednesday. Food, drink and welcome still awesome. Dogs welcomed.

If you want to visit a pub where you are treated like a pariah, possibly because you have two dogs, then this is the pub for you. We were pointed in a surly manner to an area we could use - perhaps we should have taken the hint and left but we had heard good things about the pub. The food was reasonable but our appetites had been spoilt by the atmosphere. They wouldn't take credit cards so we had to pay cash, most unusual. All in all a miserable experience, not to be recommended.

Our coach party out for the day stopped here for lunch (pre-booked) We had a lovely meal, HUGE portions, well presented and tasty, plus dessert and tea or coffee for £10. I had vegetable lasagne which was served with peas, carrots and green beans, NOT saturated with cheese which is a common fault of veggie lasagne. Hubby had a cheese salad, loads of salad, new potatoes and a bread roll. Dessert I had ice cream, hubby lemon something or other which he enjoyed. They coped very well with a coach load of noisy middle- aged reprobates. The noise in the dining room from all the chattering was deafening. We then went on to The Old Vicarage Gardens, East Ruston, also highly recommended.
