This hotel has super old-fashioned charm. My room was HUGE- a veritable suite, with living area and an equally enormous bathroom and a view facing the ocean. Nice amenities. The staff was excellent, services all great. After walking 15 K or so doing the ring of Kerry, over a truly stunning mountain top, it was spectacular to arrive at such nice lodgings. The ocean was a perfect spot to dip into on such a warm day. But the most amazing thing of all was the manager who - after hearing that my friend and I were a bit stranded to get a cab somewhere - offered to take us himself! Hospitality like none other. He took a couple of hours out of his day and made this one of the most memorable parts of our journey. Thank you all!

Ok so the weather was horrific but when you're staying somewhere a lovely as this it doesn't seem to matter! Our room - 508 - was the only one with a balcony and it had stunning views across the bay to the mountains. The room was immaculate and so comfortable with the plushest carpet, fireplace, sofa, huge tv, very comfortable bed, welcome chocolates, water, bathrobes & slippers. The staff were all so lovely both before and during our stay. Breakfast was really good and dinner in the restaurant was absolutely delicious - such a mouth-watering menu! There's a big car park around the back with plenty of free parking. Overall, just the perfect hotel and we can't wait to return when hopefully the weather is better! Well done everyone and keep up the good work!

We recently returned to this hotel after four years, and found it hasn’t changed at all and not in a good way. From the moment we arrived, it felt like the place had been left behind. The exterior had overgrown grass, the windows were old, and a dull atmosphere. Some bright flowers would go a long way in making it feel more welcoming.|Inside, the hotel was very quiet and felt rather tired overall. For €285 a night, we were expecting more in terms of comfort and ambiance. The rooms did not live up to the hotel’s 4-star rating — they were functional but looked old and were not up to a standard you’d expect at this price point.|After returning from a lovely evening at Mick O’Dwyer’s The Villa, we hoped to have a nightcap at the hotel bar, only to find that both the bar and restaurant were completely closed, lights out at 10:30pm. We were directed to the Fisherman’s Pub instead, but we didn’t like the vibe there and ended up leaving.|On a positive note, breakfast was very good and the staff in the restaurant were friendly and professional. Breakfast is made to order, and the food was fresh and tasty. However, there were no extras such as fruit, yogurt, or cereals available that we could see, just the main meal from the menu, along with tea/coffee and juice which was by the entrance.|The location and view from this hotel is second to none, however, the hotel is lacking something. We had fond memories of our previous stay, but this time our expectations fell short. The hotel has potential, but it needs investment and attention to live up to its rating and pricing.

Liked our stay at this hotel for sure. Family room so spacious (biggest we have stayed in) with access to a little lawn outside and chairs. Staff very friendly. Big snooker table there and very clean. Central location Food in restaurant was fine. For a hotel it was ok. Would have liked a nicer vegetarian option. They did a pasta dish on request which was nice of them. My husband got Chicken supreme and it was like a nice. Would stay here again.

The shower wouldn’t drain at all and we asked for assistance at the front desk (phones in the room to call down didn’t work) and they said they couldn’t help. Mind you, the hotel barely had any guests and they could’ve easily moved us rooms but didn’t. Don’t stay here since the only way to clean yourself is by using the bathroom sink

Some hotels in an area with limited options get lazy from the lack of competition but that’s not the case here. Waterville is a pretty remote area with relatively few hotel options and Butler Arms is probably the nicest. It has the look and feel of a classic seaside hotel in the British Isles (using that in a geographic sense not a political one) with lots of dark wood, sitting rooms, a billiard room, and bar. The rooms are modern and it has an elevator. Our rate included breakfast, which was very good (traditional Irish choices). We are one dinner and were pleased. The town itself seems a bit depressed, there were several empty storefronts however there is a supermarket and pharmacy so no trouble provisioning necessities. If you’re doing a road trip in the southwest part of the country this is a good place to stay for a day or two.

Hotel was really good! Comfy rooms and great location. Dinning (breakfast) experience was pretty bad. We ordered Avocado toast and the avocado smelled really bad. I noticed one of the servers drop a knife and then instead of picking it up, he kicked the knife with his shoes on. That's disgusting.

We dropped in here for a brief break while driving part of the Ring of Kerry as my grandfather knew Charlie Chaplin and we had heard he stayed here on several occasions. We ordered tea and scones. The staff sat us in a beautifully furnished living room overlooking the bay. The scones with butter and strawberry jam and the proper clotted cream were absolutely the BEST scones I have ever tasted! The tea was good too - nice and hot. The whole hotel was full of old world charm and the staff very attentive. Next time we would love to actually stay here! In the meantime the memory of those scones lingers!!

Yelp
Excellent dinner! The seafood pie is outstanding. We're staying here tonight (unfortunately one night) as we drive around the southern coast, cramming as much Ireland into our vacation. Fantastic hotel, wonderful room! Highly recommend!
